Inverkip Power Station Chimney Demolition - 28th July 2013 HD - Abandoned Scotland
At 10pm on the 28th July 2013 the 237m tall chimney of Inverkip Power Station was brought down by a controlled demolition. This is park of the ongoing work to demolish the power station which has been unused for years.

Glad they decided to pull that down, the thing was an eyesore to the gorgeous scenery round about.

I used to pass this chimney every single day atleast twice for decades. Coming home the chimney was the first thing you would see as you passed inverkip . When you saw it you knew you were almost home. It was kinda sad seeing it demolished.

That was quite a landmark when we had a holiday there and I am pleased I got a photo of it from Great Cumbrae this June as I wouldn’t have got one next time we are there! Lovely part of Scotland but I don’t think we will miss the chimney. Many thanks for filming the moment it fell.
Nicely caught. My footage is not as grand as yours, we were sitting off on a boat watching it come down. Thankfully the skipper decided to take us away before the dust cloud engulfed us as it did a few others :-). Cracking evening for it.
Its quite eerie watching it float there for a while.
Abandoned Scotland Sad video. I followed yours and others explorations of Inverkip for years up until they finally got around to taking it down. Its a place I always wanted to explore for myself but that would have never be seeing as I live in the U.S. I have never explored anything as massive or as clean as Inverkip. Ive been to a few big places but nothing new the scale of this. very sad ending to it all :(

Superb timelapse like how you mixed ig with footage from your trip into the power station from a few years back. Really strange no seeing the 3 red beacon lights as you drive up to Greenock now.

Quite a few of them got covered in the dust from the demolition once it had blown out across the water.

Oh I remember this! Me and my family were able to get really close to it because of our friends farm :) it was really awesome!!
chocolateorange2 was that the farm that you had to walk up the muddy road and the BBC van was there? That's where I was when this happend !

I think (I may be wrong) that the site will be cleared and used for housing as the area is quite sought after thanks to the marina.
Katcetera, the boats were put outside an excusion zone so the chimney would never have hit them. Just all the dust that went towards them.
We'll hopefully be back in the last part of this year with a lot more content. Thanks for the support!

Can you tell me how you used VitualDub to do the timelapse? I noticed that on the close up shots of the chimney, it had some pretty prominent edge sharpening (the white line running down the edge of it). Can i ask what picture style you used?
