"During the Cold War, the facility was reused, and became one of 14 Regional Seats of Government (RSG) distributed around the country, massive underground bunkers where government services would have been transferred to in the event of nuclear war. The RSG was intended to house the Scottish Secretary and members of the Scottish Office, police, BBC, BT and others to form a wartime government in Scotland The underground facility dates from 1952, and added a further three storeys beneath the original World War II surface building."

Ah my friend... I'm always nostalgic when getting back at your videos. Reminds me when I was urban explorer as well. There were only a couple of abandonned buildings in my town I wasn't able to enter in.
I visited several houses, one clinic, one garage, a magnificient derelict mansion, a nursing home, all demolished since then...
Once again, thank you for capturing the deliquescent beauty of these places and showing us.

Your film is a fascinating blend of a treatise on government waste and a creepily poetic journey through a post-apocalyptic ruin. One might be reminded of Tarkovsky's "Stalker" or Ridley Scott's sci-fi films. Your visual dichotomy between faded government signage and subsequently applied graffiti is inspired.

I heard (not sure if it's true) that there is a Naval base on an island on the west coast of Scotland that is abandoned. Do you know if it's true?

Really like the old footage. Really eerie to think what the government had planned for the chosen elite. Not keen on your exploring footage though, got to be honest chaps!!

I'm actually using a 600D The Stratatigerizer, the most important bit of kit is a good prime lens. They can be picked up cheaply like the nifty fifty is a great lens for the price.
