*Disclaimer: Unfortunately, the UA-cam algorithm thrives on titles and thumbnails that could be perceived as clickbait. Although I find this particularly distasteful, as a means of reaching a new audience or encouraging my current audience to invest their time into my videos, I must work with the algorithm rather than against it. Statistics have highlighted just how effective aligning titles with the algorithm is and although this can be frustrating for many (myself included), I will always ensure that my titles:
    1. Never promote false promises or unrealistic expectations.
    2. Will more often than not ask a question.
    3. Are worded in a manner that although might be perceived a certain way, are still open to interpretation.
Appealing to more potential viewers gives me the opportunity to further the spread of what I believe to be useful information surrounding the topic in question, in addition to a positive message which often surrounds mental health, with the goal of helping as many people as possible.
It should also be noted that the majority of my videos are based on audience suggestions. ~90% of my audience are women, therefore, the majority of videos are created to appeal to my dominant audience.
It must also be noted that although goals often vary amongst individuals, a lot of my opinions on movements are within the context of building muscle (hypertrophy) and therefore, should be considered with that in mind.
Thank you for giving me your time.*

I have assumed that Linda is afraid to grow from her rinse-and-repeat content because A. She isn't sure what else she can offer
    B. Doesn't want to admit that she still has an ED of some kind so masks it with toxic positivity.
    C. Is purposely continuing to pump out the content that keeps her in a safe bubble to ignore all criticism that comes her way. (SHes already demonstrated that she isn't the best at taking constructive criticism.) Or...It could be all three. Where I think she is harmful is that she demonstrates an inability to grow from all these so-called lessons she learned and there for expresses the toxic "It's ok if you haven't worked towards bettering yourself as long as you sound sugary sweet about it and painfully self-aware."

There are different forms of love when it comes to 'loving' your body. You may love your body for its strength and good health. yet at the same time, you might also feel dissatisfied with its appearance, even though you still love it for its functionality and well-being

Honestly, I can relate to Linda. As a teen girl, especially growing up in a second-generation immigrant Asian household where Asian culture overwhelmingly in favor of extremely thin bodies and where it's also normalized to make blunt remarks about someone else's body, I also had whiplash going back and forth between contradictory feelings of self-loathing and insecurity towards my body and extreme body acceptance. I'm a few years older than Linda, though, and so I can't imagine trying to process these feelings at her age in today's social media landscape. What I see in Linda's content is a lot of what my own feelings and emotions towards food and my body were in my teens and early 20s (which I assume is the age of most of her audience).

She bothers me because she's trying to figure all of this out, but she's doing it in front of the camera. Next week she'll have a different message and how she "did "this" and now has a better relationship with her body." No, she doesn't. Every video that gets discussed here is just basically her trying something out, and she really should put the camera down and not vlog it. It's sending out the wrong message, and as much as I like Harry, and can understand why he wants to discuss her videos, I wish he'd stop giving her attention.

The problem with her is how strongly emotionally connected she is with food. You can tell by how passionate she is about it and when she eats it’s like she’s on cloud 9 everytime. I can relate because I’m Peruvian and I love my country’s food and it also brings me lots of joy but she’s also obsessed with how she looks so they’re two opposite extremes. If one wants to be super lean then sacrifices must be made but she can’t make it because of her connection to not just any type of food but yummy, indulgent food. She needs a happy medium or pick one or the other and stick with it or else she’s just going to keep torturing herself mentally which is what she’s being doing this whole time

When I first discovered her channel I really loved her content and related a lot with her discussing her anxiety and self doubt BUT I very quickly stopped going back to her channel to rewatch. The videos all had the same cycle and she never seemed to move onward to the next stage or actually seemed to take her own advice in one of her more positive videos. As someone who has major self doubt and body image issues I realize you do have ups and downs but her videos just seemed to be stuck in this non stop content cycle like she was afraid to finally move on with her channel.

Linda is obsessed with "healthy" (balanced) eating and exercise and "being the best version" of herself yet never gets around to actually do any of these things. She always gets lost somewhere along the way justifying why she CANNOT do them (at least not right now) and that it's TOTALLY OK not do them. Yeah, that actually is fine and no one forces her to be "that girl", but if you can't/don't want to/are unable to live this way, then just stop making it the topic of every single vlog. She's evolving her life around something she never achieves and doesn't even seem to want to achieve, it's basically documenting her failures. If that's her goal, ok, but this extremely redundant and tiring and doesn't make her content positive in any way, despite her wanting it so desperately to be "encouraging content". It's immature and annoying, she doesn't seem to have any real goals in life, like going to university, getting a job/career or something like that.

nuance and grey-area thinking are super important in discussing stuff like this. i do believe the only times you should be calling foods "bad" is if they cause genuine medical distress. i can't have gluten because i have celiac and it causes permanent damage to my digestive system. or food allergies that are more severe. if someone is allergic to peanuts and it causes their throat to close or painful hives, i think it's alright if they say peanuts are a bad food. great video as always!

I used to watch Linda's videos a lot during the pandemic and thought they were positive too. I also come from a Chinese household and it was so nice to see her spending what looked like quality time with her family while trying to life a healthier lifestyle after having experienced an eating disorder. But to see her producing the same content now is saddening, as it suggests that she hasn't managed to overcome her struggles (key hallmark of EDs being the continued, excessive time and attention given to food, weight and shape. Not unusual for people to become nutritionists etc. to continue the focus on the topic in a socially acceptable way) and I'm concerned her youtube content is to a certain degree almost perpetuating her food struggles. Sometimes it's better to cut and run for your mental health, even if you have to sacrifice something big in the process (easier said than done I know). I really think she'd just benefit from professional psychological help from an ED specialist at this stage, which could be done discreetly if she preferred, but it would really help her get out of this rut she appears to have been stuck in for a long time now. But of course, we never really know what people are going through so I really hope that she is just able to get whatever the most appropriate support is for her personally.

she is trying to prove to everyone else that she achieved food freedom but she does not practice what she preaches so aggressively.. the way she moans and her eyes roll back whenever she takes a bite from any food really shows to me that she has a very, very disordered relationship with food and making this kind of content is a pretty obvious money grab. as someone who has been dealing with anorexia for almost a decade now, i can tell you that the way she behaves around food is concerning. when you're truly free from dieting and love yourself, food is just food, you won't cry happy tears every time you eat ice cream lol

What is your thoughts on weightloss-plateaus? I've heard a few other (imo, reputable) folks here on youtube talking about how if you dont lose weight, you arent eating in a deficit.
I had a plateau a while ago (would fluctuate with the same .5 kg gain/lose for a month) despite eating 1400-1500 calories and being pretty active.

      @reahsahpagel3354 11 місяців тому +4

It’s more nuanced than that why I will say I don’t know if you’re still in a deficit. But when experiencing a weight loss plateau oftentimes you need to have a refuel week where you start eating the calories you use to eat for a short period of time as your body thinks your in starvation mode since you’re in a calorie deficit. This week of “refueling” is key to long term weight loss. Your body is basically off balance and it needs a signal that it’s in fact not starving therefore you need a reup week when you are experiencing plateau.

Kinda depends, how drunk do you wanna get? XD because technically spirits like Vodka usually have less calories than say a beer, but with a LOT more alcohol content. Otherwise, you can be mindful when you drink, listen to your body, pay attention on whether you really want another glass, or does your body want food or water, etc.
But anyway, it's fine to indulge once in a while, one day won't kill your progress. Enjoy and happy birthday!

It is hard! But if you don’t enjoy it, any exercise is good exercise

Better do what you enjoy and can do consistently than hating going to gym, missing some trainings and feeling Bad about yourself afterwards and then not doing anything at all because you feel like a failure. Any movement is great (:
I tried Jogging because its cheap and quick (no driving to and back from gym), but i cant Stick to it no matter how many times i tried, gym is it for me❤

@@SinangeLka ur right! I stuck with the gym for two years now and every time I’ve gone in I just don’t wanna be there. Now all I do is Pilates at home and I walk a lot or I go bike riding.

@@SinangeLka lots of people call me a failure and that I don’t have any discipline for quitting weightlifting and bulking but I just feel like it doesn’t make me happy anymore. I try to do it and I can’t stay consistent. I try to be like all those gym girls now but I just can’t do it.

i have a 400kcal bowl of icecream every now and then, just regular salted caramel haagen daz, or bnjs cookie dough. i also have a tunnocks teacake or a 40g parmaviolet when i crave sugar or chocolate.
the important thing is to not do this regularly, keep the treats as a treat. look forward to them and enjoy them thoroughly. if you DO want to have them regularly then you do need to make some sort of adjustment. a 15minute run burns 160ish kcal for me so if i end up wanting those things several days in a row, ill make sure to include the run with my workouts, or ill nip the calories back here and there with my meals by reducing fats mostly etc
its not about strict restrictions or deprivations but of being mindful and purposeful in how you eat.

Yeah. It's incredible how easy weight loss becomes when we don't make it into an all or nothing thing (no extremes)

In the beginning of my weightloss journey in 2020 I liked her videos but it went downhill eventually I stopped watching because I didn't enjoy watching them anymore. She always seems to be eating and eating and eating and then talks about diets etc.

I think the diet culture in Asia is definitely a factor contributing to her behavior and narrative. I acknowledge this is a big problem and resonate with some of her feelings. However, I think she's not on a healthy, positive path to recovery and at times goes out of her way to convince her audience, painting an unrealistic picture of how she feels/where she's at. This comes as contrived and the self-persuasion doesn't seem to work anymore. Watching just a few of her videos, I think the only person those repetitive self-assuring slogans could convince is herself. I'm all for self love but it seems like she has developed an obsession for it. I'm sure life is more than workout and food, and maybe for a change, find a real job aside from social media.

How can you have a channel build only from trashing others content? Is that caus you cannot deliver your own interesting content???
