  • Another Ozzy Osbourne banger. Randy Rhoades is an animal on the guitar. I cannot wait to do more of a deeper dive into their music. I also want to dive more into Black Sabbath.
    Here is my reaction to hearing Ozzy Osbourne - Mr Crowley for the first time. I hope you enjoy it!

    • @jdbroders64
      @jdbroders64 2 місяці тому +7

      Exactly. I was alive when he tragically died and he wanted to temporarily quit performing to further study music at the University level. He was going to take a break to enhance his knowledge of music theory, composition etc. He wasn't 'quitting" music. Far from it.
      With that said, for the all to brief period he was with us he was one of the greats in so many ways. Back in the day, I had a guitar instructor that had briefly known Randy and to paraphrase he said of Randy "He was a gem of a guy. A truly good guy." Everything I've ever read about Rhoads indicates that's true.

      True, but that is an incorrect translation in the KJV bible. When translated from the original Greek text to English no rider is mentioned. "And I looked and behold a horse white and the sitting on it having a bow and was given to him a crown and he went forth overcoming and that he might conquer" No rider there, what is described is a Centaur who were expert archers. Crown in Greek is Corona (virus) Bow in Greek is Toxon (Toxin) Horses are symbols for swiftness, quick delivery and this one is white representing medical profession.

      @@GHOST5663 I doubt it. Who the horsemen are depends on if you are a dispensationalist or a preterist.
      The 4 horsemen are judgements in any case.
      I don't see any hermenutical reason to belive that the white rider represents the medical profession.
      Morphology of a word is a bad method of hermeneutic partially because it only works in english.

      @@ericfisher1360 I had to look up three words in that reply. Thank you. You obviously have some knowledge in this. My understanding of Revelations is that it is prophesy, written in advance of an outcome already secured. These texts have been mistranslated by accident and purposefully and with ill intent to misdirect the faithful over hundreds of years. I believe that 2020 was the breaking of the first seal. The four horsemen are worldwide events, unveilings of the seals which need to be broken in order to usher in the reign of Apollyon. Genesis is the end, Revelations is a new beginning. I would appreciate your thoughts.

    I think Ozzy’s lyric “ Will you ride my white horse” means going on a drug trip. Ozzy is inviting him.

    The studio version is so good, but as folk say, see the live version. You can see Ozzy's admiration for Randy Rhoads during the solos!
    He can't believe his ears even though its not the first time they play it together! 😀

  • @generoberts9151
    @generoberts9151 2 місяці тому

    Rhoads was classically trained. You will be mesmerized when you watch his technique. And such a big sound coming from such a small guy. Ozzy said when he first came in to audition he thought he was a girl. Then he was blown away.

    Because you're into heavier stuff, I'd HIGHLY suggest "Perry Mason" from Ozzy's catalogue. It's much heavier with a more modern metal sound and crunchy guitar riffs but it's really catchy at the same time. And definitely do Black Sabbath's "Black Sabbath". It's basically the foundation of heavy metal, the first track on their debut album that still sounds scary and evil.

    There's a semi-live version of this, more like a rehearsal as there's no audience, that goes on for a bit longer but Randy plays the song effortlessly like he could do it in his sleep. Also does it on the coolest looking guitar known to man. The Black with white polka dots flying V!

    You remind me of a younger version of myself. Focusing on the guitar work.
    I'm glad to see that you are experiencing different decades of music. I stuck with/to hard rock. Now that I'm soon to be 60, I have started listening to stuff I would not have given a chance when I was young. So much good music and so little time.
    Enjoy your journey, young man. The music is waiting for you.

    The “White Horse” reference is to Jesus in the Bible in Revelation chapter 19 “it’s symbolic of course”. And yes Randy is a BEAST!!!! You should check out also “Suicide Solution” (about alcoholism that kills you slowly) and “Revelation (Mother Earth)” all from the same Blizzard of Ozz album. And THEN so many gems in the 2nd album w/ Randy “Diary of a Madman”!!!!

    If only they'd let the song run on instead of fading out - i was lucky enough to see Ozzy with Randy on 1st August 1981 at Port Vale Football stadium - the Heavy Metal Holocaust, headlined by Motorhead. What a day, i was 15 and it was my first Metal Fest 🤘
