The bat came a year or so later, when someone threw one on stage at a gig. Ozzy & Black Sabbath started heavy metal rock - darker & heavier than psychedelic blues rock of Hendrix & Cream in the late 60's. Once Randy Rhoads came onboard in '79, his technical mastery from studying classical guitar launched modern metal - Randy referred to it as 'neoclassical metal' - giving metal a cleaner, much more technical style from what is was with Sabbath. Randy's influence to rock, and dedication to mastering his instrument made him a legend.

The bass player in red, Rudy Sarzo, was also in the band Quiet Riot 1977 before joining Ozzy's band 1981 and then later re-joined Quiet Riot 1983. Rudy's brother Robert Sarzo is a guitarist.
An Occult based song, and one reason he's the Prince of Darkness. The guitar is Randy Rhoades a guitar prodigy as you can hear, who died tragically in a car crash a year later.
You reacted to Gary Moore a short while ago guys, and it was Gary who finally persuaded Randy to join Ozzy. Gary was Ozzy's first choice to join his new band, but Gary had already started his own solo career after leaving Colosseum II and Thin Lizzy, so Gary helped Ozzy find a new guitarist. Randy had already been offered the job by Ozzy, but it was Gary, after Randy asked for Gary's advice, who told him that if he joined Ozzy's band he would become recognized as the great guitar player he ALREADY was. How right was Gary, Randy was phenomenal. I'm pretty sure at some point Gary and Randy would have collaborated on a project at some point, after becoming friends. R.I.P. guys.
I am old enough to remember when this album first came out. Saw Ozzy w/Randy on Dec. 31st, 1981 in Los Angeles. This entire album was mired in controversy. There are three versions of this album - the original, the 2002 reissue, and the 30th Anniversary edition. The bass player and drummer you see in the video (Rudy Sarzo and Tommy Aldridge) are not the people who recorded the original version (Lee Kerslake and Bob Daisely). Sarzo and Aldridge are on the 30th Anniversary edition. The 2002 reissue is Robert Trujillo and Mike Bordin. Ozzy reissued the album in 2002 to avoid having to pay Kerslake and Daisley royalties from the original version.
I would you’re a young man when Randy Rhodes died RIP. It crushed me for over a week! I am in my 70s and I grew up with Black Sabbath lead singer Ozzy Osbourne. It’s wonderful to see The music of my generation can still touch to generations later!
This song is about Aleister Crowley (1875-1947), a British practitioner of black magic. Known as "The Wickedest Man Alive," Jimmy Page based some of the Led Zeppelin album covers on his work.
the guitarist was the late, great Randy Rhoads, who tragically died in a plane crash after recording the Diary of a Madman album (right after this album).
Heavy metal goes all the way back to late 1960's. The song "Helter Skelter" by The Beatles was actually the first Heavy metal song recorded, I think that was in 1968. Ozzy Osbourne didn't know that he bit the head off of a real bat but, he deliberately bit the heads off of 2 white doves in the year 1981 during a business meeting with his record label, Epic Records. I don't know all of the details, but this was for real! Yeah, I'd call that pretty damn dark and crazy!
Aleister Crowley was an Occult practicer & Satan worshipper. The song was written as a commentary based on his story, “Yeah you waited on Satans call”. Both “Crazy Train” & “Mr. Crowley” were on Ozzy’s first solo album “Blizzard of Oz” (1981). Motley Crue toured with Ozzy in 1984 for Ozzy’s “Bark at the Moon” tour.
the guy playing guitar is WIDELY considered one of the best, if not THE best, to ever do it, in my opinion, he is and always will be the greatest guitarist of all time for heavy metal/rock/classic rock

much love for you guys Ozzy hell yeah
You guys should react to their live version of war pigs, amazing performance by their drummer
This is one of my favorite Ozzy songs. The guy he’s singing about was definitely fitting of Ozzy singing about him. Long Live Randy!!
Maiden is probably one of the highest energy live heavy metal bands in history lol
YOU guys are funny 🤣😂 I enjoy your reaction😊 bless you all
Three separate killer solos 🤘🤘🤘
Two solos and an interlude, all EPIC Randy. Best guitarist ever...
I absolutely love it when I see one culture enjoying anothers' music.
The studio version of this song is 10,000x better. This one has the weirdest, dragging feel to it. It’s great to see Randy Rhoads play, but the overall performance by everyone just isn’t same
Agreed
yup i wish people that react to live performances would listen to the studio version first (if they havent heard it of course)
I kinda dig it, and Randy absolutely killed it while also making it look effortless. THAT is when you know someone is a virtuoso.
i personally don't agree, i think this one is way better than the studio one.
@@remarkablehairdo3110 this version is cool but the album version is just pristine.
Lol, I’m a 41 year old dude in middle management with long hair.
This is the first comment I’ve left y’all. I love seeing y’all discover music that is taken for granted by folks that grew up with it. Y’all are enthusiastic about being exposed to things that are foreign to you and it deserves massive respect.
The best part about this video is Ozzy wearing his homemade "OZZY" shirt
Wow guys, it's great that you're digging music history out, I just spent five hours going through your videos and reminiscing my young years!!! Still didn't see any Deep Purple (Smoke on the Water) to my surprise. Jethro Tull with Locomotive Breath is another suggestion. Keep it rolling, we love it👏🥰.
Hey guys, love you reactions and your overall vibe, keep it up! If i may request a react I would love for you to see Rammstein - Du hast live it will blow your minds how lit it is! cheers from Portugal!
Kiene lust or rosenrot with the video would be awesome as well
legendary band line up R.I.P Randy
Not gonna lie, guys, this is a crazy deep song to cover.
Fr some magik
Ozzy is an ICON..no one like him! The Prince of Darkness...words to his songs have meaning in depth!
Listen to his new album, Patient Number 9. It has music videos also! It won't disappoint....
Much Love, Stay Safe!
Try out Dreamer by Ozzy you’ll love that song
The bass player in red, Rudy Sarzo, was also in the band Quiet Riot 1977 before joining Ozzy's band 1981 and then later re-joined Quiet Riot 1983.
Rudy's brother Robert Sarzo is a guitarist.
An Occult based song, and one reason he's the Prince of Darkness. The guitar is Randy Rhoades a guitar prodigy as you can hear, who died tragically in a car crash a year later.
Randy Rhodes died in a plane crash.
R.I.P. guys.
Rip Randy Rhoads
Love the solo from Randy, it is so beautiful. Tommy A is awesome on the drums. xx
One of the coolest songs. This one is about a man named Aleister Crowley who was a mysticist back in the 60s. He thought he was an actual wizard.
So wrong and off base....
@@donaldpaulson3920 how do you figure the song is about Aleister Crowley who was a mysticist. Doesn’t seem too far off base to me
I am old enough to remember when this album first came out.
Do korn freak on a leash
I would you’re a young man when Randy Rhodes died RIP. It crushed me for over a week! I am in my 70s and I grew up with Black Sabbath lead singer Ozzy Osbourne. It’s wonderful to see The music of my generation can still touch to generations later!
This song is about Aleister Crowley (1875-1947), a British practitioner of black magic. Known as "The Wickedest Man Alive," Jimmy Page based some of the Led Zeppelin album covers on his work.
At least someone says wickedest man alive n not just a mystic n wetf....even though still not even close to touching on the full truth
@@pR1mal. a lot of conditioning
the guitarist was the late, great Randy Rhoads, who tragically died in a plane crash after recording the Diary of a Madman album (right after this album).
Megadeth holy wars
“Mama im coming home” ozzy best song. Peep that
Heavy metal goes all the way back to late 1960's.
Love Ozzy. Y'all really seemed to enjoy those guitar solos. Maybe check out some of Synyster Gates solos?
the guy playing guitar is WIDELY considered one of the best, if not THE best, to ever do it, in my opinion, he is and always will be the greatest guitarist of all time for heavy metal/rock/classic rock
