I was born in 71 and had an uncle 8 years older who lived with us my entire childhood. I was raised on Black Sabbath. Ozzy’s voice is like a warm blanket on a cold night. ❤❤❤
Love Ozzy and Black Sabbath! I don’t think I mentioned this before, but in 1996 my youngest son, who was 13 at the time, talked me in letting him go to a huge concert at Shoreline outdoor venue in Mountain View California. His 17 year old brother was already going with his friends and promised me he’d let his brother hangout with he and his friends. Well, my older son ditched him first chance he had!!! The Ozzmosis Tour, featuring Black Sabbath’s, AC/DC, and Alice Cooper were performing. My sweet young son wandered around and ended up behind the largest stage. As he was standing around by himself, he met a young boy, 12 years old, also hanging out by himself. His name was Jack and the two ended up spending the entire day together. Jack finally hunted down his dad and introduced my son to his dad, Ozzy Osbourne!!!! My son was already writing original music and has gone on to be an incredible musician with 14 albums to his name. Still releasing original music, dropping a new album on Spotify last May!!! Grandma in California loves you, your heart, and your passion!
Zakk Wyld on guitar made you cry. His band Black Label Society he sings and plays guitar. His band Zakk Sabbath is all Black Sabbath covers and he sings Ozzys parts really well while playing the guitar parts. His best friend was Dimebag Darryl from Pantera.
This ^^^ Diary of a Madman is one of my faves to play on guitar. With one of the most hauntingly beautiful acoustic sections. If you have any sort of mental illness, or have questioned your own sanity at times, this is the song for you. Randy purposely writes it with constantly changing time signatures, and a shit ton of dissonance. As if it were literally composed by a madman. 100% a must
You need to listen to the whole album, the No More Tears album is one of those occasions when the stars aline and produce pure magic. Everyone in the band hits 100% pure gold.
I KNEW you'd LOVE this one!!!!!! And yes that was little Kelly O at the end!!! That mid section of the song is SO EPIC!!!!! The way it drops off to the piano and then the keyboards and violins that lead right to that heavy guitar solo!!!! And btw, NEVER apologize for reacting to the GODFATHER of METAL!!!!!! You should be EXTREMELY proud that he's from Birmingham!!!
I fell in love with this song in Uni, but my roommates thought I was crazy because I played it constantly, I love his vocals and I'm a sucker for a great guitar solo.
I’ve thought about it but I have never dug into who is behind Ozzy’s songs. He has such great guitarists and guitar work, lyrics, song production, etc. it’s amazing. I always imagine he walks into the studio to a complete song and then he lays down the vocals and goes home. I have no idea why I envision that.
100% correct. Ozzy is a great performer but he really has no part in composition or lyrical writing. It was typically Bob Daisly and whichever guitarist was playing with him at the time. Bob did most of the lyrics.
What a classic!!! I can hear Zakk”s guitar a mile away. Back in 2002 I bought my husband two tickets to see Black Label Society, as he loved them so much. I was hoping he was going to take a friend (as I didn’t know anything about BLS at that time) but he insisted I go along. Omg I’m so glad I did! I was so close to the stage, I could have reached out and touched Zak’s foot. I wasn’t expecting the big bad ass biker looking man standing there! I was in heaven! And I certainly wasn’t expecting the sound of his voice or guitar riffs! One of the best concerts I’ve ever been to! 😎 I’ve never seen Ozzy though. 😢
That entire album "No More Tears" is AMAZING. I don't think there's a bad tune on it. I think I've seen Ozzy in the 80's 4 times, and they were all amazing.

My first concert in March 1996 when I was 11 was Ozzy with Sepultura and Type O Negative opening,Ozzy was doing promotion for his Osmosis album along with other classic tracks,Sepultura was promoting their Roots album that helped shape Nu Metal and Type O Negative was promoting their October Rust album that made me fall in love with Peter Steele
Same tour! Was it the same concert? What city were you in when you saw it? Introduced me to Sepultura who blew my mind and Type O Negative. R.I.P. to Peter Steele.
Ozzy is the most consistent artist of my generation. I've never heard an Ozzy song that wasn't a solid hit. Every song he releases is recognizable as his, and is a solid hit.
I Saw Ozzy in Oct 92 when he came to my town of SATX. Alice in Chains opened for them. Layne had just broken his foot in OKC riding an ATV. LAYNE was in a wheelchair but he sounded so fucking amazing. It was a 2 night concert for Ozzys No more tours tour. Their is live concert footage of Layne in Oakland a couple nights later. Again Layne was such a beast. Just wanted to share. Much love from Texas👊
When I was a kid like 2000-2005 I’d be on the bus to school with my cd player listening to Ozzy’s Essential hits album. Completely mesmerized. It does not matter how many times I hear No More Tears. I’m in my 30s now and get the same damn goosebumps and brink of tears after that solo.
Fun fact: The bass player on this song, Mike Inez, would later join Alice in Chains and is still their bassist to this day. He did not play on the studio version of "Would" though. Also the guitar player, Zakk Wylde (who I think might be best guitarist ever) was best friends with Dimebag Darrell of Pantera and is now playing guitar for them since they have reunited and Dimebag is unfortunately no longer with us. He is the only guy that could take Dime's place. And Ozzy this the fucking King!!!
I used to spray paint that saying on walls in my town back in the early 80's! I still have my ticket stub from the show when Randy was killed the day before the concert in Orlando, Florida. I went to the show and obviously Ozzy didn't perform.
I first heard this when it came out. I was 12 or 13. Whoa! Before this, Ozzy was just that rocker whose album cover had terrified me - The Ultimate Sin. This is the song that made me sit up and notice Ozzy again. 🤘

I saw the "no more tours tour" at the Big Mac in Denver. I was amazed by Zakk Wyldes stage presence. He owns the stage.
