Keep in mind guys that this is my first time ever hearing this song. There’s no way I would’ve known the ‘music video’ is a fan made video. If I’d have known, I wouldn’t have reacted to the video 🙂
And to see how modern metal music was born from the blues getting put through the lens of some young men from your town, and let me say from my heart: Well done, Birmingham!
My youngest son got a hat autographed by Ozzy Osbourne when my son had cancer the first time. A wonderful organization called Caps for Kids got it for him because Ozzy was the first one my son said when asked who he wanted to sign his hat. He was barely 10 years old. I felt so proud that Ozzy was his number one.
Sabbath bloody Sabbath, Paranoid, The Wizard, In to the Void, Fairies wear boots, Snow blind, Sweet leaf, Heaven and Hell, NiB, Killing yourself to live, Hand of Doom, Symptom of the Universe. All excellent tracks. Great reaction.
Who's playing guitar? Tony Iommi. Bloke with two working fingers on his left hand. Sliced the rest off in a Birmingham steel working mill right before the band got singed to a record company. He made prosthetic fingers.
He had two of tips of his fingers damaged in a machine. He didn't get them sliced off. The prosthetics were only on the very tips of those fingers. If you saw his hand in person you might not even notice it at first glance.
That is Tony Iommi on guitar. He is the godfather of heavy metal. He did not invent heavy metal. But he sure revolutionized it. Anyone who is involved in heavy metal should recognize and pay homage to him. Heavy metal would not be what it is today without him.
As a fellow Brummie, I'm glad you took a dive into some Black Sabbath, there are so many amazing songs they did, you really need to keep down the Sabbath rabbit hole as they are some of the best musicians around
The live version from Paris in 1970 is legendary and incredibly powerful. It is amazing to see them at their rawest. The incredible drumming of Bill Ward is especially regarded in this version.
Vocals - Ozzy Osbourne Guitars - Tony Iommi Bass - Geezer Butler Drums - Bill Ward Black Sabbath is the fisrt heavy metal band. This gender born with this guys. They had some different vocalists and musicians after the 70's, the line-up in this song is the original. Also the 90's albuns are great, and the last albuns The Devil You Know ( the band change their name to Heaven And Hell to this one) and 13 are masterpieces. If you read this, start to enjoy the first and greatest heavy metal band and change your life forever
Tony Iommi once said in an interview " We're just a rock n roll band. I don't even know where the term came from that we're a heavy metal band band. "If you look for it , you'll find that interview online.
Came from their links to working in foundry (Heavy Metal) . Tony Iommi guitar sound from his tuning and fact he lost finger-tips in a work accident and made some plastic tips to replace them 😵💫. Truly astonishing sound for 1970 that is as fresh today and definetly paved the way for future rock/metal bands to come after.
Yep. Sabbath. This is where Metal started. With the four guys that were inspired by the industrial sounds of the city (I think that they have mentioned it in interviews). Heavy Metal - you know? Tony Iommi is the inventor of guitar riffs. Around 1965 when he was 17, Iommi lost the tips of the middle and ring fingers of his right hand (his fret-board hand, since he is left-handed) in an industrial accident on his last day of work in a sheet metal factory. He "was told 'you'll never play again'. He ultimately decided to continue playing left-handed. To do so, he fitted homemade thimbles to his injured fingers to extend and protect them; the thimbles were made from an old Fairy Liquid bottle - "melted it down, got a hot soldering iron and shaped it like a finger" - and cut sections from a leather jacket to cover his new homemade prosthetic. Metallica played a cover of two Black Sabbath songs combining them into one ("Sabbra Cadabra" released on their cover double album "Garage, inc." which also cointains parts from "A National Acrobat") and toured with Ozzy when he went on his solo career and moved to the USA. What the band was and is still playing would be considered traditional Doom Metal by now. With alot of psychedelic prog and Jazz influences. People have already recommended live in Paris 1970 and Ozzy Osbourne - Mr. Crowley 1981 live video. Another crucial band that have inspired the metal of the 80s would be Motorhead. I highly recommend their "Motörhead - Just 'Cos You Got The Power (Stage Fright) HQ". Motorhead were the band that has united punks and metalheads and inspired the whole Thrash Metal genre that Metallica were the pioneers of.
What is so awesome about the 70’s music and earlier is the fact these musicians just played their hearts out. Back then no such thing as auto tuning or adding in additional sounds of instruments. You just got up and played.
Black Sabbath Vol 4 is my favorite album of all times. MetallicA- Ride The Lightning is 2nd. Tony Iommi the riff master is on guitar. About 60 years ago at the age of 17 he accidentally cut the tips of his fingers off doing machine work. For decades now, Tony has worn fingertips taken from fully prosthetic arms on the stumps of the last joint of the middle and ring fingers of his right hand.
Tony lost the tips of his left hand's first 3 fingers on his last day as a factory worker, made caps to put on them when they healed and invented this guitar style. The phrase goes, "It doesn't get much more metal than that!"
It was Tony’s right hand… Tony is a left handed player, meaning her frets with his right hand. He fabricated prosthetic wax tips, used nylon strings that were down tuned allowing him to more easily bend the strings. That’s how he has that unique sound that is so often imitated but NEVER duplicated.
@@terryberkshire7728Sorry, but he did not use nylon strings. If he did you would not hear anything. An electric guitar has pickups on it that detect the vibration of the strings by the fact that they’re steel strings, and induce an electric current in the pickups’ wire coils by disturbing the magnetic field of the pickups’ magnets. Nylon is not magnetic. You could put nylon strings on an electric guitar and play it, but no sound would come out of the amplifier. You need steel strings in order for an electric guitar to work.
These reactions are so great to watch. I've seen Sabbath in concert twice in their later years and seen Ozzy solo live 5 times since 1986 when I was 18. Being in the crowd and singing it back to him live is quite the experience. When he was 18, I took my now 23 year old son to see Ozzy the last time he came to Dallas in 2018. Full circle. 🤘🏼
Toni Iomi is the guitarist. As Sabbath was about to become famous each had a Civilian Job. Toni lost one of his fingers in an accident at work on his fretting hand. He had to learn the guitar all over again this is why the way he plays sounds the way it does. This became the SOUND of Black Sabbath from then on.
Names obviously Ozzy on Vocals (and sometimes harmonica), Bill Ward killing the drums, Tony Iommi ragging the guitar and Geezer Butler playing the life out the bass, Geezer writes most of the lyrics and Tony most of the music.

The so-called unholy trinity of my youth Black Sabbath, Deep Purple, and Led Zepplin. Sabbath are considered by some as the Fathers of Heavy Metal in part because Tony Iommy had to tune his guitar down because of his missing fingertips which produced that heavy metal sound.

Great reaction again!!! I am watching you from Canada. I love watching your reactions so much for the simple reason being that you are super honest with your comments and thoughts. If you don't understand something, or if you have questions, you are NOT afraid to ask or admit to just not knowing. That is a quality that more people doing reactions need to have! So you are one of my favourites right now. Keep doing them just how you are. You will get more and more people subscribing to you channel in no time. Now I am requesting that you react to "Children of the Grave". It is one of my favourite Black Sabbath songs ever. It has one of the most difficult, continuous drum lines I have heard. This is only my little old opinion, of course but it is absolutely a song you need to react to. I know that you have said that Guitar riffs are your "thing", but after your reaction to The Eagles, Hotel California and how blown away you were that the drummer could sing and play so great!!!! So please please have a listen to "Children of the Graves" Thank you, thank you, thank you, in advance. I PROMISE you will not be disappointed . Keep doing your reactions. You are doing such a great job at it.🤘🤘😎😎🖤🖤🤍🤍😎😎🤘🤘
This is Toni Iommi playing guitar. There is an interesting story with his fingers and his tone. There have been many that have tried to re-create his tone. I'm sure you might have heard Ozzy or Black Sabbath somewhere. It's hard to avoid them now. (Iron Man). For Ozzy'a vocals, go for anything off of 'Diary of a Madman' or 'Blizzard of Oz'. 'Crazy Train' might be the best from those two albums. Then listen to both of those albums and realize that Randy Rhoads really influenced how today's Metal is now put together. Ozzy really knows how to recognize GREAT guitarists, not to mention other talent in Metal. Ozzy and Black Sabbath are the true grandfathers of modern Metal.
I LOVE Black Sabbath and Ozzy...but, I think the fan made video was well-done.... This song has ALWAYS had impact on me, as an "older person".....but: the video was well composed, I thought. GREAT REACTION!!!
@@MollyBoyTV Metallica son muy buenos.yo los conozco desde hace más de 30 años pero bandas como black Sabbath faith no more o thin lizzy te sorprenderán. Además de pink Floyd...claro.
Tony Iommi is playing the guitar. What you might not know is that he chopped the ends of his fingers off in a factory so he has little plastic/rubber tips which he puts on to play.
No, its not the original video. Your suspicion was right. There's no original music video for this song, but the live from 1970 is excellent, except the lyrics is different. They were still working on them when the concert took place.
I love Black Sabbath especially the early stuff and my all time favorite song of theirs is Bassically/NIB from the debut album. It may not be as widely known but the bass is amazing in that song.
Most English rockers from the 70s went out of their way way to disguise their English accents to sound more American. You weren't considered a true success until you hit it big in America. Sales here could catapult an English band into the stratosphere and make them international superstars. So they tried to sound more American because they thought it would be more appealing to American audiences. It's probably why you're probably not picking up on that Birmingham accent. One of the things that makes Pink Floyd so unique is that they never went that route. They left their English accents intact, and I always felt it gave their vocals a maturity and respectability above all other English bands. Listen to "Brain Damaged/Eclipse" by them to hear a classic of what I'm talking about. (Studio version).
Keep in mind guys that this is my first time ever hearing this song. There’s no way I would’ve known the ‘music video’ is a fan made video. If I’d have known, I wouldn’t have reacted to the video 🙂

You are doing such a great job at it.🤘🤘😎😎🖤🖤🤍🤍😎😎🤘🤘
"I want names!" 🤣😂🤣😆 Never stop asking!😊❤
Bill Ward really slaps those skins. Rock on MollyBoy
We had a Halloween/horror themed wedding. Our wedding March was Black Sabbath's song, Black Sabbath. Definitely worth a listen.
I LOVE Black Sabbath and Ozzy...but, I think the fan made video was well-done.... This song has ALWAYS had impact on me, as an "older person".....but: the video was well composed, I thought. GREAT REACTION!!!
@@MollyBoyTV awesome Spanish or Portuguese or Brazilian language bro
Nice reaction, dude! Ozzy on vocals, Tony Iommi on guitar, Geezer Butler on bass, Bill Ward on drums. Enjoy the rabbit hole.
AC/DC - Let There Be Rock (Apollo Theatre, Glasgow, April 1978)
Tony Iommi is playing the guitar. What you might not know is that he chopped the ends of his fingers off in a factory so he has little plastic/rubber tips which he puts on to play.
No, its not the original video. Your suspicion was right. There's no original music video for this song, but the live from 1970 is excellent, except the lyrics is different. They were still working on them when the concert took place.
I love Black Sabbath especially the early stuff and my all time favorite song of theirs is Bassically/NIB from the debut album. It may not be as widely known but the bass is amazing in that song.
SUCH an important song too! Not just for the music either.
N.I.B dude! You will hear why people thought they were satanists!
