This is probably the best video clip of this band, but if you want the audio pinnacle, required listening is the 1981 Montreal show that was broadcast on a syndicated radio show called King Biscuit Flour Hour. There's a chopped-up clip on UA-cam, but the whole broadcast is out there, and a worthy goal, for sure. Thank you for your promotion of this and other great music! Be well

You know it's a true rock god when over 40 years later it sounds as unique and special as it did back when I was a metal head kid who had a biased opinion at the time. Randy Rhoads was an amazing talent. I'm still in awe.
Crazy train, Mama, I'm coming home, no more tears and bark at the moon are some of my favourites of his. Great reaction, and keep up the good work my man.
Welcome to Ozzy and Randy!!! I too love that he left Sabbath and just continued on his way throwing out hits. If you get to this comment, try out "I Don't Know", "Crazy Train", "No More Tears", "Close My Eyes Forever" - Duet with Lita Ford, "Mama I'm Coming Home", and his newly released "Patient #9" with the recently deceased Jeff Beck. Thank you for enjoying our old music with us!!
I was at this concert...Blizzard of Oz. I've seen Sabbath and Ozzy on his own twice. He is a Rock God! He is a brilliant writer, and vocalist. This song is about Allister Crowley who is the leader of the Satanic cult, wrote the Satanic Bible. Real creep. Ozzy masters this in person. Simply Phenomenal!
Randy Rhoads is my favorite guitarist ever. This, "Crazy Train" & "Over the Mountain" are my favorite solos. I can only imagine what his classical studies would have brought to the table. Ozzy will be the first to tell you Randy changed his life when he went solo. Ozzman has always had great musicians.
This was filmed in a television studio on April 28, 1981 in Syracuse, New York for the tv show “After Hours” There are 4 other songs from this same show that are on UA-cam if you do a search for “Ozzy Osbourne After Hours”. Randy Rhodes died in a horrific plane crash on March 19, 1982. This is the only professionally shot video of Randy playing at a show.
If you want more of a high energy performance, they performed another song named "Crazy Train" during this same session. The mastery of Randy Rhodes really shows how great he is and Ozzie is having a great time singing the song. Highly recommend this as a reaction video, you won't be sorry. R.I.P. Randy Rhodes. One of the best guitar players of all times! ❤🔥
I enjoy so much of just seeing Ozzy look at Randy as he is playing. It's almost like a "Holy Shhh this dude is effin amazing" Then you see Ozzy like well he is in the same band as me. I met Ozzy a long time ago in 2005. The Prince of Darkness is just a nice person, at least then. Ozzy is a treasure.
Ozzy was my first concert ever in life and I actually snuck out of my house to attend with my sister and her friends. When I tell you how influential this band became for me. OMG, I was impressionable and so naive. I was so young and trust me every lick I received when I got home was nothing compared to my taste of this Rock Legend. Randy Rhodes was and is a Guitar God. I will never forget this moment in life EVER. Pure MAGIC. I love the stank face you give because in person your body is just in absolute orgasmic bliss. 🤣😂💯😍
Ozzy is a beast. He stutters and stammers on camera, but when he hits the stage it’s a whole different man. I’ve been lucky enough to see him 4 times. Once with Black Sabbath. It never gets old.
I was born and bred in Birmingham, England when Sabbath started off,saw them numerous times, met them, drank with them. Ozzy really is a humble down to earth bloke....when Sabbath played in England for the Thirteen tour,he mailed me to make sure I had a ticket😮......top bloke.
I was 14 when Randy died March 19, 1982. I remember hearing it on the radio. My friends and I had tickets for his show in April that we returned, I wish I'd saved that ticket. Four decades later if you mention RR I suspect 7/8 of people would recognize the name!
Randy's attack on the guitar is legendary! IMO he is the GOAT. There will be no other like him. Tommy Aldridge is the master of staccato style drumming. He pioneered the double bass in the 70s. He is my all-time favorite drummer.
Ozzy Osbourne grew up in Birmingham, England... raised in a working class family... He had psychological issues that left him unable to excel in school and got him bullied as a kid... At 15, he dropped out and worked odd jobs, but ended up in jail for burglary. He had seen The Beatles on TV and decided to try become a singer after his release... His dad went into debt to buy him a P.A. system around 1967 and Ozzy began looking for bands to sing for... Tony Iommi was a local guitarist who knew Ozzy from school, and saw his ad... Iommi was hesitant to work w/ Ozzy cos he thought he was a 'clown'... but Bill Ward (drums) and Geezer Butler (who switched from guitar to bass) liked him and they began working together playing covers at local gigs... the name became Earth... and then Black Sabbath by 1969 (after one of the first original songs they had written)... Ozzy discovered that he had an ear for melody and could give Sabbath's music a delivery like no other. Black Sabbath was signed in 1969 and by 1970, their 2nd album 'Paranoid' was a #1 hit in the UK and platinum record in the US... Money came the band's way, but so did drugs, alcohol, groupies and bad business deals... By 1974, Sabbath discovered that their manager Patrick Meehan had siphoned all the band's earnings and the members were broke... They took a year off the deal w/ lawsuits and tried to manage themselves without success... Don Arden began managing the band in 1975, but Sabbath's sales were declining by 1976... Tony Iommi wanted more 'polished' Sabbath records and Ozzy hated the last 2 albums and briefly quit the band... Sabbath's 1978 tour was a disaster w/ Van Halen opening the shows and blowing the band off the stage every night... Hampered by drugs and alcohol, Sabbath was stuck creatively by 1979... Tony Iommi fired Ozzy Osbourne and wanted to work w/ former Rainbow singer Ronnie James Dio... Ozzy was separated from his first wife and kids, and spent months drinking and doing drugs in L.A. when Don Arden's daughter Sharon Arden came to visit him to collect a loan from Ozzy, but Ozzy's broke... Seeing the singer so lost, Sharon sees an opportunity to break Ozzy away from Sabbath and offers to manage him and find him a solo band. Ozzy was too drunk to recall the auditions, but he heard a guitarist and hired him on the spot... that was guitarist Randy Rhoads from the L.A. band Quiet Riot... Rhoads had recorded 2 albums by Quiet Riot in Japan, but saw no success. Ozzy was floored by Rhoads' guitar skills and the 2 worked on new music w/ a new sound that was far more energetic than Black Sabbath (Randy Rhoads had never heard Black Sabbath)... Rainbow bassist Bob Daisley was brought in and wrote lyrics for Ozzy's melodies... Uriah Heep drummer Lee Kerslake joined the band w/ Rainbow keyboardist Don Airey... the band completed the album 'Blizzard of Ozz' in 1980... but no record companies would sign him. Finally, Epic Records gave Ozzy a contract, and at a meeting, he shocked the company by biting the heads off 2 doves that he brought w/ him...That gave Ozzy infamy and interest in his new music jumped... The band wrote and recorded a 2nd album 'Diary of a Madman' and began touring actively in 1980/ '81... However, money was tight and despite the 2 records selling millions, Ozzy and Sharon saw little money because he was still contractually in debt to his former manager Don Arden while in Black Sabbath... This performance was filmed in the fall of 1981 (?) w/ new members Rudy Sarzo (bass) and Tommy Aldridge (drums) replacing Daisley and Kerslake... One of the few live clips that exist today w/ Randy Rhoads on guitar for Ozzy... Ozzy's shows were selling out and getting bigger by the spring of 1982 and they were booked to play Madison Square Garden at NYC that summer. In the spring of 1982, Randy Rhoads was killed on the tour when he boarded a small engine aircraft for a short flight... it crashed into the tour bus and spun out of control into a house nearby. Ozzy was devastated and thought about quitting, but Sharon was adamant... Randy would not have allowed it. Eventually, the tour resumed and Brad Gillis (guitar) was brought in. Ozzy and Sharon married in the summer of 1982 and spent years on a tour bus because both were broke and Sharon had left her father's employ... They had a daughter Aimee on the road. In 1983, Ozzy had a new guitarist Jake E. Lee and a 3rd studio album 'Bark at the Moon'... another platinum success... Finally free of his old Sabbath contracts, Ozzy spent 1984 on a massive tour w/ Motley Crue... it was, by all accounts, madness on wheels w/ alcohol and drugs aplenty. Black Sabbath (the original w/ Ozzy) reunited for a set at Live Aid in 1985, but Don Arden sued to stop that performance. Ozzy released 'The ultimate sin' in 1986 w/ Phil Soussan on bass and Randy Castillo on drums... but despite the success, he found himself sued in court for allegedly 'inspiring' a teen's suicide w/ his song 'Suicide solution'... He was able to beat the suits on his 1st Amendment grounds... He spent 1986 on tour w/ Metallica opening as his career now eclipsed Black Sabbath's commercially. In 1988, Zakk Wylde (guitar) joined Ozzy's band and the 2 became a tight duo (Zakk eventually found his own success w/ his band Black Label Society in the 2000's to today and has been touring as the guitarist of Pantera in 2022/ '23) and recorded 2 massive Ozzy albums - 'No rest for the wicked' (1988) and 'No more tears' (1991)... In 1989, he and Sharon separated after he tried to strangle her after a blackout on booze and pills... She eventually took him back, but he admitted that cocaine was still a problem... In 1991, Ozzy claimed he had reached his limit during a binge in Vegas and had quit using the drug since then... he still struggled w/ alcoholism well into the 2000's. Even in the 90's w/ metal being discarded for 'alternative rock'... Ozzy still sold platinum in 1995 w/ the 'Ozzmosis' album. In 1996, he and Sharon founded the Ozzfest tour that single-handedly brought back heavy metal to the masses over a decade... The original Black Sabbath finally reunited in 1997 and was a huge success. Ozzy's TV career launched in 2001 on MTV as he was promoting his album 'Down to Earth'... his rather dysfunctional family became stars themselves... Ozzy still recorded successful albums despite falling CD sales... 'Black rain' in 2007... 'Scream' in 2010... Black Sabbath recorded the album '13' in 2013 and it charted at #1... but they decided to end Sabbath's career in 2017 w/ a final tour. Ozzy returned w/ new music - 'Ordinary man' (2020) and 'Patient Number 9' in 2022... His touring plans seem to be over because of health issues, but Ozzy has announced performances coming soon.

You really can't go wrong with anything on Blizzard of Ozz or Diary of a Madman, both albums have Randy on guitar. The title track from the second album is where I would send you next, especially based on some of the comments you made about this song (and the intro).
Ozzy's voice on this track is exceptionally beautiful as is his delivery of the lyrics. He is so focussed. IMHO Ozzy has one of the most iconic singing voices ever - his sound chills me like FM chills me - and that's saying something! As for Randy - most amazing metal guitarist who ever graced a stage. I can't listen to you enough Randy. Your music goes beyond memorable. God bless you.

Randy grew up with his mother being a classically trained musician and owning a music store where he gave lessons. Growing up in the 70s I was blessed to have been one of his students. The thing that always blows my mind about Randy is his use of the classical music elements in his playing and writing. I mean this is an incredible composition musically. Just amazing. Miss RR every day.He was a funny, sarcastic, genius. Plain and simple.
This was done as part of a set of songs for an "After Hours" appearance in NY, 1981. I Don't Know, Crazy Train, Suicide Solution, and Mr Crowley. I would highly recommend listening to the other 3 songs. They are the best, and really only medium to high quality videos of Randy Rhoads playing guitar with Ozzy, and they are all killer live versions. It's a shame to think Randy had barely scratched the surface of his ability with Quiet Riot and Ozzy before his death in 1982.
Randy Rhoda’s grew up in a music school mastering classical guitar. It wasn’t until he was a teenager before he took up electric. He mastered it in a few months. I can’t imagine what he could have accomplished if he had lived. RIP Randy.
Also Bob Daisley he wrote over 90% of the lyrics on the album , many think Ozzy wrote all of the hits but he didn't and was not a song writer . Randy and Bob are the reason Ozzy was able to have a solo career .
RR on guitar is just killing it! Never heard anybody say Ozzy has a beautiful voice before, but in its own way it most def is! Keep up the great vids :D
The atmosphere that was created set the stage for an epic song, which was delivered masterfully through the intriguing lyrics and the mind blowing musicianship. Randy Rhoads was a once in a Century talent! One of Mt top 5 favorite songs ever!
Rudy Sarrzo on bass, Tommy Aldridge on Drums and Randy Rhodes on guitar are three most accomplished musicians in the history of their instruments. That band was AMAZING!!!!!

Classically trained, brilliant player
I was at this concert...Blizzard of Oz. I've seen Sabbath and Ozzy on his own twice. He is a Rock God! He is a brilliant writer, and vocalist. This song is about Allister Crowley who is the leader of the Satanic cult, wrote the Satanic Bible. Real creep. Ozzy masters this in person. Simply Phenomenal!
Wow, hard to beat Ozzy and Randy in their prime. Simply amazing.
RIP Randy Rhoads. And Dimebag as well. Best 2 guitarists ever made.
100%
Facts
Love love LOVE seeing Randy Rhoades in this! Guy was a PRESENCE and amazing on the guitar. Great react to a great song. Thank You!
This whole album is legendary. A true rock staple.
Greatest guitar player ever. Randy died in his 20's
Ozzy said randy wasn't a rock star he was a musician. He had a masters degree in classical guitar
Oh Randy❤
Randy Rhoads is my favorite guitarist ever. This, "Crazy Train" & "Over the Mountain" are my favorite solos. I can only imagine what his classical studies would have brought to the table. Ozzy will be the first to tell you Randy changed his life when he went solo. Ozzman has always had great musicians.
This was filmed in a television studio on April 28, 1981 in Syracuse, New York for the tv show “After Hours”
There are 4 other songs from this same show that are on UA-cam if you do a search for “Ozzy Osbourne After Hours”. Randy Rhodes died in a horrific plane crash on March 19, 1982. This is the only professionally shot video of Randy playing at a show.
I was lucky enough to see Ozzy and Randy in 1981. Randy was my favorite guitar player. I was crushed when he died the following year
If you want more of a high energy performance, they performed another song named "Crazy Train" during this same session.
I was lucky enough to see Randy Rhoads play in the Diary of a Madman tour Detroit Feb 8 1982
Oh man I was a 80's guy, still the long hair, best time ever I'm 60 but forever 20 in my head. Loved your reaction
Diary of a Madman is his best, I think. Then Revelation, Mother Earth.
Polo, I know you always love the organ in your reactions. You should check out Deep Purple Child In Time (live 1970). Incredible organ and even better vocals.
Randy Rhodes is often overlooked as one of the greatest. R.I.P. RR
Seriously you MUST react to Ozzy- Diary of a Madman, some of Randy's best work!! Keep rockin 🤘
No more tears!!
I think Ozzy has an unique voice, one of the best. You definitely know it's Ozzy for sure.
Ozzy is a metal GOD.
Even Metallica, etc have been humbled by his presence.
Such a talented group and they could just craft the most excellent music. This was serious party tunes back in the 80's.
Rest in peace Randy Rhoads. He did more for future generations of guitarist in 2 years than most guitarist do in thier whole lifetime
Randy was one of the greatest guitar pioneers ever
Died at 24 I believe - plane crash ... raised in Glendale California - the city next to Pasadena - Edward Van Halen's hometown...
Both came up at the same time - local guitar rivals
The intro is SO Stanley Kubrick/Wendy Carlos, "Clockwork Orangy"... And of course, everything about this performance makes it a classic! Beautiful!
You really can't go wrong with anything on Blizzard of Ozz or Diary of a Madman, both albums have Randy on guitar.
The title track from the second album is where I would send you next, especially based on some of the comments you made about this song (and the intro).
Tomy Aldridge on drums with Rany Rhodes on guitar and Ozzy singing is pretty much a super group.
🎸🤘🏻Randy Rhoads was 1 of the most gifted guitarists to grace our presence, he is missed by MANY!! ❤
Ozzy has always been my favorite, & i'm beyond blessed to have seen these incredible musicians live, a couple times, before we lost Randy.
Thank you, for the Great reaction.😁
Aldridge on drums. Rudy on bass. And Rhodes on guitar. EPIC!!!!!
You got to love Ozzy just watching Randy's greatness
OZZY OZZY i had 2 people in front of me when ì saw you sing this ... Nearly past out
Love peace n HUGE RESPECT XXX Thank You for showing me THE way xx
No lie the first two ozzy records solo blizzard of Oz and diary of a madman. Omg. Legendary!!! Killer tracks and band. Do yourself a favor react to them. Over the mountain crazy train flying high again Sato etc
RIP Randy , I’m so glad to have been around to witness the greatness back then. You should do Revaluations ( Mother Earth )
Super talented group of guys in this video with Tommy, Rudy, and Randy
This was done as part of a set of songs for an "After Hours" appearance in NY, 1981. I Don't Know, Crazy Train, Suicide Solution, and Mr Crowley. I would highly recommend listening to the other 3 songs. They are the best, and really only medium to high quality videos of Randy Rhoads playing guitar with Ozzy, and they are all killer live versions. It's a shame to think Randy had barely scratched the surface of his ability with Quiet Riot and Ozzy before his death in 1982.
Rip great Randy still being missed almost 35 years later!
Randy Rhoda’s grew up in a music school mastering classical guitar. It wasn’t until he was a teenager before he took up electric. He mastered it in a few months. I can’t imagine what he could have accomplished if he had lived. RIP Randy.
Rest in peace, Randy Rhodes, he truly was a guitar God😢
One of my favorites from Ozzy and the late great Randy! A Randy Masterpiece and a must hear is Diary of a Madman from the album Diary of a Madman.
"Face melting solo"- That's Randy Rhoads. Phenomenal player. Ozzy went a little mad when Randy died.
Their first album together is just so brilliant and beautiful ! Long live Randy & Ozzy. xx
Also Bob Daisley he wrote over 90% of the lyrics on the album , many think Ozzy wrote all of the hits but he didn't and was not a song writer . Randy and Bob are the reason Ozzy was able to have a solo career .
Randy my friend rest in peace my brother one of the most badass guitarists ever gone to soon surely missed.
RR on guitar is just killing it! Never heard anybody say Ozzy has a beautiful voice before, but in its own way it most def is! Keep up the great vids :D
Every time I hear this song, ''Mr. Crooowley'' is stuck in my head for days lol
Ozzy is the absolute GOAT. Randy was taken way too soon, but he will never be forgotten.
"BARK AT THE MOON" by OZZY....werewolves and classic killer guitar solos.❤🇨🇦
The atmosphere that was created set the stage for an epic song, which was delivered masterfully through the intriguing lyrics and the mind blowing musicianship. Randy Rhoads was a once in a Century talent! One of Mt top 5 favorite songs ever!
Rudy Sarrzo on bass, Tommy Aldridge on Drums and Randy Rhodes on guitar are three most accomplished musicians in the history of their instruments. That band was AMAZING!!!!!
Randy Roads solo in this video is incredible
I've always thought 'eerie' was the best way to describe Ozzy's voice. There's something seriously haunting about it.
Polo, THANK YOU! I've been going through some challenges here lately in my life. But you you have made me hang onto hope and I love, love you reaction and your opinions to all the music I grew up to . Don't stop please! Thank YOU
The smile on Ozzy's face at the end says it all really.
Rest in peace Randy Rhoades truly truly hands down one of the best guitarist in the world. His passing hurt me for a lot of years a lot of years
I still can’t listen to Dee off Tribute. I tear up when I hear him laugh and talk, and think about how he was practically a baby when he died.
This is the best live version I’ve seen. Good choice Polo. The studio version is a bit more polished, but the drums are shine here. Aldrich does this lag beat in between verses. I am glad you noticed that.
I was just going to comment this….. this is freakin LIVE!! Wow!! Randy’s solo is awesome. 🔥 🔥
There will never be another Ozzy or Randy! Both are the greatest of all time.
