    What kind of primers work

There are multiple primers that can work, but we only test with our own due to there being so many various types and brands.

I had nothing but trouble with my can of primer spray tip after a couple sprays leaving me with a mess since it started spitting globs of wet primer only part way through my small job the stopped entirely. Even after wiping and cleaning the tip the best I got was a crap spray that quit again after one or two tries. Repeated tip cleaning did very little to help so now I have a ruined project.

Which kit should I use to paint the whole front bumper of a car?

It all depends on what you're doing. If you're just doing a color change and are not down to bare plastic or metal, then the Essential Kit is fine. But if you need to Prime and sand some areas then the Preferred or Platinum. Platium if you need sandpaper, tape, and other incidentals.

@@TouchUpDirect thank you for the reply. Yes I will be sanding down the bumper to change the color from black to silver

@@RyuHayabusa7 Ok, just a color change you do not 100% need Primer. But in this case, going from black to silver the primer can be helpful to make the color change use less paint.
I recommend sanding with 800, Primer, wetsand with 800 again, Color, then Clear. You'll probably need at least 2 cans of Color and 2 of Clear, depending on the size of the bumper.

So I'm touching up a spot on my silver metallic Toyota Sienna, and the paint is darker than the original. I have not sprayed the clear coat yet, will the color blend in after the clear coat?

The clearcoat will definitely impact the final color. However, we always recommend testing the color on the included test card prior to doing the actual painting. If you have color issues or concerns, contact us at help@touchupdirect.com.
