I don't hate the video, instructions are decent. But I hate the fact that it's clickbait. This is the standard way of removing scratches and there are hundreds of videos showing the exact same thing. Lying for clout is never a good long term tactic for getting subs and views. Plus, using 2k clear as a diy'er is not a smart way of doing it.
@@BASSstarlet Sure! But I said it's not smart if you're a diy'er. A spray can of 2k is very expensive and you need very little, so it's a complete waste of money for a scratch repair since the clear will harden in about one hour in room temperature and can't be re-used later. A better choice is a good quality standard aerosol clear, cheaper and will not harden inside the can after you're done with your scratch repair. I said diy'er because in the video he probably mixed his own clear with hardener and didn't mix more than he needed, so it's cheaper for him compared to buying a 2k spray can. EDIT: If you're gonna put clear on a whole panel then 2k is a superior choice if you can afford it. Just don't forget to use a respirator face mask because it's super toxic.
For me it's confidence in sanding and then getting it back to look alright. Can't believe people leave negative comments in something that can save the average person money 👍
Excellent video CVR. I've been Valeting/Detailing for nearly 25 years now, and in fact now instruct for automotive industry, teaching polishing and wet sanding and interior smart repair. I've been using this technique also for a number of years with great success. Yes, it's a little more time consuming than just polishing the scratches, blemishes etc. But, I find the finish is far superior and worth the effort. Keep little gem videos like this coming, those of us in the know appreciate your knowledge.
Ive been using CVR POV tips since i found your channel 4 years ago. Im not professionally trained but i am youtube certified and pretty much every method cvr has posted ive used, nearly all with great success. Those that didnt work out first time was down to my own lack of confidence in maybe wet sanding or applying solvent based paints with my finger and then panicking that if it dried too much i might not get it off. Once i removed the panic element and followed exactly what cvr said it has all come good. So much so that i tackled my friends 1 month old hyundai tuscon, in black, that had its front right bumper damaged by another drive off, Some was damage to clear coat, some was paint scratched back to bumper plastic. I filled out scratches with black metallic solvent applied with finger tip and then buffed with mini carbon collective rotary medium pad and farcla g3 compound. Had to make several applications but got it filled out then wet sanded with 1200, 2000 and 3000. Finished off with menzerna 2500 medium cut polish then 3800 super finish plus then soft 99 kiwami extreme gloss wax dark. Id say it was almost like it didnt happen, but the paint off back to plastic was maybe 1mm into the plastic and there is still a small trace of this. Reason im taking so long in describing process is I can assure any reader, i would not have got to this level of attempting to repair without CVR POV tuition. So watch his tutorials several times, then just do as he does and you won't go far wrong. My biggest obstacle was my own confidence in trusting what cvr was telling me to do. Just dont panic and take your time. Also check out cvr recent post on alloy kerb rash damage. I followed that tutorial and used Milwaukee die grinder with fine paint stripping disc and it came out perfect. Thanks very much CVR POV, keep tutorials coming please.
Hats off to CVR POV for this, and the link to the lacquer is a godsend. A couple of years ago, I followed the advice of another UA-camr, and he demonstrated how you use 3000/5000 grit wet paper to level surrounding lacquer down to scratch level, then buff. Big mistake and really bad advice. Left a spot on my Lexus revealing the base coat, only tiny but sticks out like a sore thumb. I gave this a lot of thought after the event and realised I should have filled the scratch with lacquer, then levelled the excess down to the existing coat, exactly as shown in this video. If you spray the scratch with water that has a drop of washing up liquid in it, and the scratch disappears but returns once dry, then it's only the lacquer coat that's damaged. Deep scratches that won't disappear with water will need paint.

Excellent video, as always. Really helpful and the techniques you've shared have kept me vehicles in top condition. Used your tips on a few motorcycles too.
I've also ordered one of your touch up kits and paints for different models and they're first class too.
Thanks 🙏👍
