TouchUpDirect Polishing Kit

Boris and Uri are going to teach you how to use our polishing kit. We're very excited about this product because it can really enhance your finish after you've done your touch up. The components in this kit correspond to 3 simple steps. Step 1 is the sanding pad. Step 2 is the TUD gloss restorer and the pad that goes with it. Step 3 is the Final Step, the drill extension, backing plate, and the pad that goes with that. You will need your own cordless drill to do the project. You will also be provided with a microfiber cloth to help clean up.
For STEP 1, we’ll deal with the orange peel. Orange peel is a small ripple or texture effect in the final finish. After you're done using the TouchUpDirect polishing kit, that orange peel will be gone and you'll have a mirror- like finish.
Using the sanding pad, smooth out the top layer and reduce the orange peel effect. Dip the pad in water and use a circular motion on a 12 x 12 area. Ideally, the area will get more dull as you go. Don’t rub on the hard edges too much or you could possibly sand through and would need to start the paint job over. When the area is flat and there’s nothing shiny coming through, you are finished with step 1. If you missed a spot, you can go back and repeat the step.
STEP 2 will restore the gloss on the freshly painted part. Wipe the surface down and prepare your drill. Assemble your drill extension, backing plate, and cordless drill. From here you can use either polishing pad. Apply about a dime sized drop onto the pad. Smearing that polish around on the part will help you reduce fling when you activate the drill. You want to go about 15 or 20 seconds per dime size drop, so it keeps the pad nice and damp. Apply a medium light pressure. The drill rotates clockwise, so that the drill and the panel go outwards on the edge. Put pressure on the outward part so that the buffing pad goes outwards. That way, there is less chance of you burning the edge.
For STEP 3, attach your unused pad to the backing plate and apply a dime sized amount of the final step and polish the entire part again. Spend about 5 to 10 minutes on this polish. The final step is a very mild polish and it really just brings the next level of gloss. It's also a wax so it'll help protect against the elements.
The polishing kit also works well to enhance the gloss of smaller touch ups. A touch up repair looks nice but smoothing it out even more using the polishing kit will make it even glossier. First, use the sanding pad. We designed the sanding pad to be able to trim it and you can cut a piece to the size you need. You likely won’t need as big of a pad to polish this area. Take the sanding pad and lightly sand the area. Polish until the area looks dull. Smooth it out with the sanding pad and move on to the gloss restore. Smear it around a little bit and work the area with the pad and drill. Applying the final step will add another level of gloss and luster as well as some protection.

Nope, sorry, it’s definitely not for matte finishes. Unless you want it to be shiny when you’re done!
