They both have fine qualities and limitations. The Mojo plays warmer and has a wider clean overdrive range, but the OCD--while also warmer than other overdrive pedals--is brighter, and cuts through better. I have both pedals, and it seems to me that the OCD at 9am on the drive knob starts out about 2-3 steps higher than the same drive setting on the Mojo (at least when I compare them at home with single coil and humbucker guitars). I'd use both for different applications. Thanks for the good demonstration!
In my humble opinion you should not try to compare petals by their knob positions but you should try to tweak them to get the same sound I asked close to each other was possible to show the differences in tone not the differences in the knob positions
I just bought a Vox AC10 and the mojo is superb in front of it. I can dial in some eq with the bass and treble and adjust the level. Mild drive bump, nothing too crazy. Sound amazing at any volume with the amp master cranked and the gain low.
The OCD was much more open, I suppose moving the treble up on the mojo, or lowering the bass would have opened up the mojo a bit. Really liked it though. Both pedals do it for me.
the mojo is a warmer and less gain pedal, because is an overdrive. The OCD has more gain and high end because is more like a distortion to my ears. Both can work together very well but doing diferent functions.I mean the mojo mojo for crunch, and the OCD for leads.
You can't simply assess the value of a pedal from a demo, the Mojo Mojo is a secret weapon on single coil guitars, and just as Paul Gilbert said, when you crank an amp losing the bottom end this OD brings it back.
They both have their place....depends on what you are needing to do. Humbuckers are muddy compared to single coils and I try to match gear accordingly. My Les loves my OCD. I have a Fender Frontman 212R that has to have something muddy up the signal otherwise it is an ice pick to the ears.....the mojomojo could probably tame an overly clean amp.
I'm considering selling off around 20 individual pedals (Modulation, delays, reverb, Pitch Shift, Octaver, Ring Mod, Synth, Rotary etc) and using a handful of analog dirt pedals (Comp, Boost, Fuzz, Muff, Distortion) and getting a Plethora X5 to replace all the pedals I'd be selling.. I'd only have to sell 5 or 6 good ones to afford a Plethora X5. Whaddya reckon?
"Love Me Two Times" baby for the Mojo machine. I just prefer that mellower voicing at home I guess but the more "savage" open wide OCD is probably better live onstage to cut through a crowded club.
OCD seems to have more treble and volume. Should have tied to match the this tone with the Mojo knobs, rather than match the knobs. Thanks though. I'll stick with my cheap mojo.
That seems like a lot of low end for a Fender BJ. Did you mod it? I'm not much of a fan of the Mojo in front of my modded Junior. It's f'n magic in front of a Marshall type dirty amp though. Especially as a clean(ish) boost. Just recently discovered that BTW. Started doing some searching, found that's exactly what Paul Gilbert uses it for. And he could use anything. Just say'in.
Tone Junky It’s a stock BJ with a Jensen c12k. I can confirm that The Mojo is always on at the end of Paul Gilbert’s chain. He uses it as a “foundation” drive to sculpt his sound
Hi! I have a Revstar 320 with high output ceramic humbucker pickups + Blues Junior. What OD pedal would you recommend (I often find OD pedals too trebly/fizzy with my guitar)? Thanks for your help
Michel Bolduc Hi, I would suggest a low gain overdrive, with standalone Bass and Treble controls. Check my demos of the MojoMojo from TC electronic, not expensive and very good sounding!
I don't think that is a good idea to dial two completely different pedals with the knobs at the same place. Would've be a lot more useful if you have set them by ear trying to make they sound similar. That'll make comparison a lot more useful. Anyway, thanks for the video.
I disagree. If you make them sound like each other I think it lessens the comparison, whereas dialing in their knobs similarly will highlight their differences at the respective settings.
Iv had the mojo on my board for 2 years. Iv bought a lot of very expensive od pedals that not be able to replace my mojo but i do think that the ocd might be the one.
I sold the OCD and kept the Mojo, I use it as an "always on" overdrive and I'm very happy with it. The OCD is good but it's a gain pedal, it will colour your tone even at very low settings
@@micheleguitar yep good point. But i have the looking glass as my low gain always on pedal. Then my formula 5ft6 as my classic gain. Master dispatch as my reverb/delay and my nautila as my chorus. All i am missing is a good distortion. Running through a marshall dsl. Ocd im thinking as using as high gain maybe
@ozlo houser brickballs got the 5f6 already as my tweed pedal. Tried other catlinbread pedals and just not for me. Have used better for what i want ok other makes. High i have sinvertek no 5 which blows most distortion pedals out the water
Lee & my Games room I've just got the mojomojo and just like you I have as always on. People say it's a Marshall in a pedal type thing. I don't know. I use it on a cleaned up dirty channel of my orange. The break up with the pedal on is gorgeous
OCD feels like it has more natural harmonics and very responsive towards playing dynamics. TC sounded bit muddy to me in comparison but so is the price difference.

I have them both. I love them the same , but differently. Like I tell my kids.

My arsenal for my Strat is the Plethera X5, Mojo, and the OCD. That is a mighty sweet package.

OCD sounds a lot more aggressive. I think I prefer the mojo
AllKeys JamTracks Agree: The Mojo is more natural sounding, more TS808 like, they are both great!
I use the mojo for rhythm and step on the OCD for leads 😌
They are soooo good
ocd = clarity and go through the mix excellent! +1
If only the Mojo Mojo had a treble control
@MrCharlieC23 It does. Look at it.
Sorry
What means,, go through the mix,,??
What,s the song name at 0:20 ?
Got it
Doors ... Love me two Times
Mojo is the best! Best price by far
Mojo Mojo is great for fattening up a Strat
ocd is a beast

Got these both and they stay in my board. Different attack actually.

@@micheleguitar Thanks! What about the Boss SD-1 (doesn't have Bass + Treble though)? Thank you very much. Greatly appreciated.
Michel Bolduc The Boss is a super Classic, love it!
The Boss super distortion is noisy as all hell try a mxr gt40 or double double overdrive way better pedals
Super overdrive
Creo que el mojomojo tiene un diferente camino en cuanto a su overdrive, es mas como un sonido moderno, pero no deja de ser sorprenderte.
The Doors like !!!

Pablo Taibo good point, Unfortunately I sold the OCD

Procash Floyd sold the OCD, kept the Mojo. OCD is more of a distortion, Mojo is a very low to mid overdrive, which I like the most
Distortion Fulltone vs Overdrive Mojo.
Mojo mojo sounds much smoother and as i can hear is less noisy .
Ocd
treble of ocd is more rich complex wider. bigger strings like. mojo is like saw. narrow. nothing to compare. very diffirent.
OCD all the way
Mojomojo wins
OCD better
There's no common ground
