Paul is incredible. He finds the sweet spots and then puts it to ya. His facial expressions are because he can hear the note in his mind's eye. That is unison with the instrument big time. Rock and Roll Mate and Cheers
This is a great demo on how the pedal works, how and what he uses it for with examples! Great pedal and amazing player!! What a nice guy Paul Gilbert is!
I Do Love to see people enthusiastic about their music and Paul Gilbert smiling his face off at how good the MoJo Mojo sounds, shows what a therapy music is for the soul. After all... smiling is a good thing !! :O)
I had convinced myself that I need another overdrive/distortion pedal like I need another hole in my a*** - and then I watch this video. I think Paul G demoing everything that exists is the way to survive social lock-down.
By far the most positive, skillful and entertaining pedal demo I've seen. Paul Gilbert is the MAN! And you can tell he really digs this pedal, which seems to be a sleeper in the TC lineup. So cool. Cheers!!
Paul Gilbert is using a 50 euros overdrive pedal, I mean he could be using any overpriced pedal like a Klone or whatever, but instead he's using this, that is affordable to everyone. Why? Because the pedal sounds amazing and TC Electronic really knows what they're doing. Keep in mind that different amps will have different responses, but anyway this is mind blowing. Awesome job TC, keep it up! Looking forward to buy all your mini pedals line lol
Unfortunately he has jumped a ship a bit to JHS with a $200 signature drive, but this is still true. Its a shame too because the JHS guy has some interviews with him and he's kind of a weird dick to him and they talk past each other a lot. Seems like a mismatched pair. To be fair the Paul Gilbert JHS pedal (PG-14) looks and sounds pretty good, and I have the JHS Smiley which I like.
Paul Gilbert is my favorite rock n roller and guitarist of all time! If his personality wasn’t so awesomely contagious, and his approach to excelling at being a teacher and masterful musician, I’d probably have overlooked this pedal. Only due to the fact that there are so many different OD pedals on the market.
Great sounding pedal played and played well by an absolute master. Inspiring an highly demo, Paul. Not only are you having a great time, but you convey that joy to your audience as well. I just bought one tonite & look forward to playing with it.
Dude even Paul switches his overdrive and distortions around. He uses a JHS Bonsai and a JHS PG14 (his signature pedal) as well as others. Always cool to switch gear in and out. Stops you getting stale. I got the Bonsai and Mojo Mojo on its way. I do love my Monte Allums modded Blues Driver mind.
@@richardfitsell4506 right on. I like changing it up. I just try not to buy pedals without exploring the ones I have. I ended up buying a blues driver and a plumes. Enjoy the new pedals! I don't have any JHS in my collection yet..
Learned how to play guitar from Paul Gilbert off the Ibanez Soundgear starter pack DVD. And bass from the awesome Gerald Veasley on the same DVD. Huge fan of TC Electronic as well!
Paul Gilbert is the most talented and entertaining guy demoing guitar gear out there. He is fun to watch, he is articulate and most of all you can see how much FUN he's having. It's very infectious and enjoyable. To the naysayers like Mortimer I say you are missing the point and your name calling just reduces you credibility to that of a 3rd grader teasing his classmates.
I am a new to the pedal game, I recently added this pedal to my current setup: HB Aeolus (Humbuckers) + Hot Rod Deluxe (Clean) + MOJO MOJO + BOSS DD500 Delay + Fender Tre Verb = OMG I love it! (Blues 60's Rock sound with some bite!) Thank you for this pedal!
Concur. Probably one of THE best analog drive pedals that's been near-completely overlooked and/or under appreciated. Idk if they're still making them or not, but the stragglers I see still in shops are WAY discounted. I bought another to give to my friends son who's an enthusiastic young player- gotta encourage that, right? We NEED to foster this next gen of players and collectors; they'll be the next ones to enjoy the rich vintage history, and all this great current crop of instruments and accessories, and pick up the 'sickness' that all things guitar consumes.
2020 and MojoMojo is still my favorite overdrive 😎 Before MojoMojo i frequently changed my OD pedal, went from one to the next and the whole way around. The MojoMojo is imho one of the most underrated pedals. Every guitarists should own one...or two. I have to confess, i own 3, two on the boards and one on the shelf.🎸
When I get done watching Paul, I am stoked. I was going up to get a shotgun this morning because I have no weapon in the house and I feel vulnerable to hooligans who do the home invasion thing (which happened to my neighbor last month) and now I am going to take that money and buy some guitar gear. I may regret it down the road, but you know what? I can take refuge in the fact that I have a great tone. And, I won't be in the news because I blew a hole in my ceiling while cleaning it.
Probably doesn't need saying but I'm working a night shift and needed this comment to pick me up lol cheers . In all seriousness, I hope you didn't need the shotty this past year and for many more to come.
Someone hire this man on a live channel where he'd be demoing every single interesting piece of gear in the world everyday 24-7 Also put a wah-wah before a Boss FD-2 and you'll have a forever bend with feedback as you solo. You're welcome :)
That Leslie West tone came from a Sunn Coliseum tube PA head. And awesome beast that will melt the face off an audience. I had one as a back up to my Marshall. One night, the Marshall died and the Sunn was an awesome surprise. I just learned why. Those inputs are for microphones. Much more gain!
I bet he spends as much time practicing the faces as he does the guitar. Guy's a genius. Agree though that he could make an elastic band stretched across a Kleenex box sound good.
I've tried and tried to explain that BASS attack and how it effects HIGHER notes, and NO ONE gets it, but Paul gets it, lol... He mentions that bass knob FIRST! kudos! I've got the original red/brown MojoMojo and I ordered the signature purple one last night from Sweetwater... FINALLY an Overdrive that dethroned my Digitech Bad Monkey with it's AMAZING BASS, the MojoMojo has the SAME killer BASS, MORE drive (if you should need it), and blows away the Bad Monkey in the high end, even with the treble cranked! More people need to try this!
This might sound ridiculous but I tried my MojoMojo and Metal Zone on both at the same time (without even a Noise Suppressor) and holy sh*t, the sound was just killer!
Just bought this pedal used...never heard of it, but went to local used gear store and it sounded great! Not quite as good as Paul Gilbert playing it haha. I think it's divisive cause it reacts very much to your setup and playing.
One thing that's interesting is that you can change it between fuzzy and not at all, with its best sound sounding very similar to switchfoot. And when to turn off the gain, perfect worship music tone.
Ok, i was just recc'd this vid. Thank you, yt. First heard of Paul back when Street Lethal came out and loved this and Second Heat with Bruce B. Laately its been about live Racer X vids and demo's here and he's not only is a great player but a cool guy as well. DANG,, Leslie West??!!!. This was the guy that inspired me to play back in '73. Thank you . . I have like 5 od/dist boxes now. I should find a home for a MojoMojo. Maybe it would inspire me to play more (Vypyr/headphone rig ain't too inspiring).
It's one of my favourite pedals too & i have it on a couple of my pedalboards now & I have a few more in reserve as it's not expensive!!!! It's a bargain pedal which sounds expensive,so top marks too TC Electronic!!!!!
I need to know what it would sound like through a cheap solid state peavy. I can't afford nice tube amps any longer and just need something to play at my house .
I'm trying to figure out how to get those tones in my "bedroom." Any help would be greatly appreciated! Amp Volume: He says "maxed" but I'm not sure if he's referring to amp distortion, volume, or both. Guitar Volume: I didn't hear him mention that. Attenuator: I understand that it lowers the volume output (right?). Does he really have his amp and guitar volume dimed and is bringing it all down to bedroom levels with an attenuator? Thanks!
Not a lot of demos on this pedal that do it justice in my opinion. I picked mine up used at my local shop because I had a trade-in credit. I was not expecting much having blown through a bunch of drives unsatisfactorily over the years. I mostly play through a PRRI with a Celestion gold, and a Musicmaster Bass amp with a Weber Signature Alnico. Strat, Tele, Les Paul. Amps that don't need drive. I have found that they can be tough to match with overdrives and fuzzes. A lot harder than anything (just about) over 20 watts. A list of drives that have come and gone : LP Eternity, LP AMP11, LP Bonetender, Big Ear Woodcutter (great Rat clone), DNA Analogic Fuzz (cleaned up to Bassman-like tones), Arc Effects Fuzzface custom shop build, BD-2, SD-1, OD-3, Catalinbread 5F6, Xotic BB. I'm probably forgetting a couple of pedals. All have been in the spot the Mojomojo now occupies on my board. Frankly, I was extremely surprised. I have a Klone from a local builder that I run mostly on low gain settings because it just compresses too much past 3, and the Mojomojo does everything the the Klone does and more. I stack them; they sound great. I run the Mojomojo into a LP HP Twin pedal; sounds great no matter where the toggle is on the LP. I run it into a WIIO by Catalinbread set clean; sounds great. I use it to tame a Green Muff; sounds great. I have not gotten it to sound "bad" yet. It actually does a better job of sounding like a Bassman than the 5F6. The voice switch and the Bass knob are great when running modulation and delay into the front of those amps, which can get shrill as hell with other drives. If I had to take one pedal to a gig the Mojomojo would probably be it because it sounds great and you don't need a manual, or a UA-cam video to dial in a great sound with it. I like it by itself the most. I like open sounding pedals. I want compression from the amp or a dedicated compressor. I like a pedal that allows for that, and allows me to change the voicing of these two small amps without killing them tonally. This pedal does that.
Great pedal for thickening up a powerful overdriven rythmn sound. Any ideas on good pedal to put after the mojomojo for great lead sound? Going into an Orange TH30.
i want paul gilbert to demo everything that exists.
