    I still have a Hustle Drive on my pedalboard and its a keeper . Sonically in a band mix nobody can tell the difference I get great tones from it .

    You can't expect the control pots to track very well. You can compare two examples of the same pedal side by side and with the controls knobs set to identical positions, they won't necessarily sound the same, the manufacturing tolerances for the rotary controls / pots just aren't that good.

    • @simaojoseph
      @simaojoseph 3 роки тому

      That’s actually a very good point to compare.

      100% true. 10-15% tolerance on most pots

    The Earlier OCD was More Amp-like and Open Sounding and not as Woofy. Better Note-definition on my version 1.7 ( 2014 ) vs. all of them. I Love It. Incredible Pedal.

      FWIW, I think the Germanium OCD returns to that natural 'amp sound' x10. It takes that trait of the 1.2's (which had 1 ge diode) and cranks it up to 11. Horses for courses, but I call that a good thing. The OCD Ge is my current pick for best OD on the planet.... but my opinion isn't worth much ;)

    The Version 2 sounds muddy and choked out to me. The 1.4 sounds so much warmer, and I'm not being biased just because I have the 1.4, lol. I wouldn't even want a Version 2 on my pedalboard.

    When the OCD came out, Fulltone had on their website a different product page for it. They were explaining that the pedal was conceived to be used in front of moderate wattage lamp amp that was on the verge of breaking up. That's the whole idea of this pedal. At bedroom level, it doesn't sound the same AT ALL. You have to crank the amp. It works with the dynamics of the amp when on the verge of breaking up. And it works perfectly well with my Prosonic

    for recording - ocd 1.4, for live performance - mooer,
    ocd 2.0 is good, but older version has more clarity/presence for recording, and both ocds are much more expensive for playing live where subtle differences will disappear in the mix

    The 2.0 just sounds dark and distant to me. In a live situation, playing with a bassist, I'd rather have the 1.4 or even the Hustle Drive.

    @6:33 The OCD 2 sounds FATTER ? To me, it's muddy, not articulation . Why do all these demos focus on head-banging chord riffs and not the solo tone ? This demo never got to the point where the tone control of either of the OCDs was raised above 12:00. I'd give this demo a C-minus.

      Yeah, I listened to them without watching the video, and after a revisit, the most warm and, you said it, sick pedal was the Hustle Drive.
      I found the OCD 2.0 the "cheapest" sounding, lots of mud there. The kmise/Saphue Ultimate Drive (sub-$20) sounds a lot like the OCD 2.0.

    The buffer in the OCD V2 is not that great. If you have a mixture of true bypass and buffered pedals you might want to consider a good input buffer. My personal favourite is the MI Audio Boost n Buff. You get a great pedal and a very high-quality buffer.
    An output buffer is something else to consider but that's a different story. Depends on yr pickups, how many pedals, total cable length, whether or not you daisy-chain or use a switcher, etc.
    HP= High Peak
    LP= Low Peak

    OCD 1.4 sounds great .... the best on this video .... OCD version 2.0 sounds "uncomfortable" ... the MOER Hustle Drive surprised me !!!! for its size, price ... the sound it isnt so far from the OCD 1.4 !!!!! ... if i had a "short" pedalboard ... Moer would be the choice ...

  • @CoenBijpost
    @CoenBijpost 4 роки тому +1

    Hmm, that bypass test wasn’t what you meant it to be. For it to work, you should put the buffer pedal as early in the chain as possible. Most of the time the long cable is behind the pedalboard and the buffer would be the first pedal on the board, negating all high end loss from the pedalboard + long ass cable to the amp. You tested what the buffer did to the last piece between the pedalboard and the amp :)

    • @mattgilbert7347
      @mattgilbert7347 4 роки тому

      Yeah he was trying to run it as a kind of output buffer. It wasn't first or last in the chain so, as you said, it didn't really get a chance to show what it can do. OCD V2 buffer is just ok imo.

    Always laugh a bit when people turn on a looper to test a buffer. Once you activate the pedal, it's buffered.

  • @krtt
    @krtt 5 років тому +3

    the ditto output is buffered, so you wouldn't expect to hear a big difference with true bypass vs a good buffer in between...

    • @lordgraga
      @lordgraga 5 років тому

      AllaboutafriendONLINE don’t listen to him. The moment you turn on any pedal, it itself becomes a buffer. Using a looper to test a pedal is completely fine and common practice.

    Hi I don´t know if all of them sound awfull (no focus, definition is not an overdrive nor a distortion just a mess of compressed signals and random odd harmonix) It´s really odd that this classic pedal sounds so bad here, at least with this setup, I´ll check other demos, don´t get me wrong It´s not your fault, you didn´t designed them, you put yout efforts into a demo of a bad pedal IMHO. I think you saved a lot of money and frustration to a lot of people, Sorry if I made a mistake English is not my main language.
