I was initially looking at this splitter also. I was and still am blown away by how powerful these little electric splitters are. I watched your video too, yours also has the One-Hand operation that I really like, I do like the 2 speed option of mine, that does speed it up a bit and is nice, it looks like yours after you split a log, yours comes back faster than mine, mine does have the set screw where you can set it to shorten the distance the ram does come back for smaller logs to help speed that up, but my logs are all different sizes so I don't really use that feature much lol I'm the same as you, I can't believe how much power these electric log splitters have now, they really make it convenient for one person to be able to split their own wood so much faster!! So glad I purchased mine as well!
Thanks for the review. These splitters will change techniques, as you could work inside a garage or shed while it’s miserable outside. My first wood stove for a small house took 12 inch, I learned to carefully mark lengths and to cut square ends on my logs, lol. One request, if you turn your phone sideways, it will give the widescreen video which is more inviting to watch.

I have the same splitter and I have mine attached to a 2 wheel dolly. The wider wheels of the dolly make moving around easier and the dolly makes the working height more comfortable. Very happy with mine!!!

Yeah, the narrow wheels on this splitter and not great for moving this around much, I only move mine on hard surface, and even then if you hit anything it wants to wobble a bit, I bet a dolly would make it MUCH better for moving around, and that's great that it gets it up to a better working height too!!! @@DW-dy7em might want to cut a piece of plywood to fit between the dolly and splitter. Helps to keep it secure. The slots on the side makes using a couple of ratchet straps easy .
Wow, only a 3 ton?? That makes me feel even better about mine having more than enough power and glad I didn't spend all the money on one of those big gas powered splitters!!
Suggest you check, hone the leading edge of the splitting wedge finer. It allows the log to split easier & leave a less stringy finish in certain woods. A dual wedge head is a worthwhile investment, if you have a lot of knotty, stringy logs.

It is heavy though, the package weighed about 180 lbs, it does move around fairly easily, but it is kind of awkward and might tip easily on uneven ground, but once its setup, its very stable!!
Yes, I did buy one of these and my wife took right to it. I built a stand with attached table so she can work at waist level. So far this thing has impressed me with its ability to split locust, black walnut, elm, hackberry, oak. If she can handle the round, it can split it.

Just got the 6.5 a few days back. Its doing ever thing I need it to do. My wood stove is a smaller one so I cut my logs 16 inches. It splits them no problamo !

yours seems to work different to all videos I've seen on this. It even says in the manual that it is a 2 stage split- meaning you need to press the power button with one hand then use other hand on lever to move the logs. See this video for what I'm talking about. I want mine to work like yours! Mine's coming in 3 days.

Yes, mine is different, the first 1 hand operation electric log splitter I've seen, the 2 Stage Control is actually referring to the 2 speed operation, position 1 is for speed and position 2 is for power, the page before shows the 1 Hand Operation, hope yours is the same and works just as well!!! I'm really liking mine so far!!
Wish you had stated the price of this unit, but guess I can look it up. I have the Harbor Freight 5 ton model and have had no problems splitting knotty pieces, you just have to know how to orient the piece to start it. And what is the throat depth?? You said shorter than what you expected, but what is that? My 5 ton will split up to 20" long wood and that is all I want....my wood burner, a 35 year old Riteway, will take 24" wood but my wife likes 20 to 18" as it is easier to load with out getting crosswise and hung up. And I agree. My HF wood splitter is over 15 years old and still runs like new. It sits on an old metal frame table from my wood shop, never toss metal stands when the equipment goes bad! HA HA Anyway, I have a table I built slightly shorter than the splitter height, so that I can stand or sit on a bar stool when doing my splitting. The large piece falls on the table, not on the ground. No bending over to pick it back up! I have a garden cart that I put the rounds in, bring to the splitter, and a 2 wheeled wheel barrow that I toss the splits into. Once the log is bucked up, and loaded in the garden cart, I never have to bend over to deal with it again. That is because I am 74 years old and my back is not as limber as it used to be. But as you get older you figure these things out more efficiently. I would never try and split at the height you are doing it. I also agree with one of the other posters, set it up in the dry, then when it is snowing or raining and you want some exercise, you and the machine will not get wet! HA HA Quick way to kill any electric log splitter is to leave it out in the weather! Anyway, I will check out the price of this unit, just for the knowledge! Thanks.

I didn't want to say the price because it does seem to move around a bit, I've went back and checked again, and seen the price higher than what I paid, and lower than what I paid, so just have to keep an eye on the price in your area, but I would think you could find this one for less that $500, so that compared to a gas powered one that will be $1,000 or more, it compares pretty well!! My manual says it will split up to 20.5" inches, so about the same as yours I guess, my fireplace is 24", so when I'm down the end of a log, I guess I just try to do 3 cuts instead of 4!! lol 95% of my logs fit just fine, its just a few that are a bit too long. I've gotten used to the height of my splitter now and actually don't mind it, now I just actually try to stack my wood better right behind the splitter, get a stool and I can just split everything and not have to move, just grab a log and split it, no bending over, and not standing up, I still might try getting it up a little higher to split wood, but for now, I'm liking the height. I sure hope I'm able to keep doing this when I'm 74 years old!! That is amazing!!!
I have the 6.5 ton. Its the Knots that made me view these 9ton splitters. Can it do dense branches and it go into a knot without hesitation? They had on sale at Tractor Supply for $389, but with shipping and Tax, came out to be $500+. For that I would rather get a $1000 20ton Splitter...But that seems to much for me and still on the fence with the 9 ton.

I had 2 pages open, one with the splitter at TSC and the other for the splitter on Lowe's website. Made it easy for her to look up the item number and verify that it was the same item.
I have seen those too, I was not using a foot pedal, this Log Splitter is just a One-Hand operation splitter, once you start the electric motor, the motor runs continuously, and all you have to do is just work the lever in the back to operate the ram to split the logs, I have made no modifications to this, what you see in the video is straight out of the box right from the factory.

I have a similar 3 ton. Works pretty good, if you have a knotty piece, just work around the knots. I use mine on my truck tail gate

I haven’t had a log I can’t split yet, goes through knots and Y’s no problem, check Lowe’s and Home Depot or Amazon too!

Did you add hydraulic fluid?
I did not, it comes full of hydraulic fluid, and says to change the Hydraulic fluid after 150 hours of use.
