Thank you for sharing this video. The ability to handle large diameter logs was what I needed to know.

I noticed in your log splitter set up you did not adjust the air bleed or you just did not show it in your video and you did not use the 2 speed lever when splitting logs so you did not get the hi speed to move to meet the log then move to hi press to split other than that it was a very good video I am looking into a purchase.

I have the 6.5 it works great. Splits easy some of the wood w knots are a pain I still use my axe if it's being a hassle.

Try WD40 on splitter, certainly helps split knotty logs

Been looking for a splitter my wife can use. One of these with a couple modifications would work well.

I have Benchmark's version and it has handled everything I have thrown at it. Contrary to a previous commenter keep in on the ground. Why lift all your wood any higher then you have to. The mods I did were to extend the throw lever to waist height and put a hinged lever over the power button so it is foot activated. Get yourself a pickaroon and you won't be bending over at all. Easiest is to split the wood as it comes off the truck if that is an option for you.

question...why u holding the power button the whole time instead of leaving it on and just working the handle

Because lawyers made it where the button must be constantly pushed to power the motor. To make it a two hand operation where someone couldn’t stupidly smash their hand.

Did anybody have a problem with theirs where it overloads and loses pressure (motor still running)? I was trying to split some really twisted oak and it struggled, overload, piston went back, and handle doesn't do anything all while the motor is still running. You have to turn it off and on again to get it functioning again.

yes I have the same thing happened and shutting off then turn on to reset. Also mine is a one hand operation. If it's a two hand model it has a momentary button then no issue!

@@backyardwarrior8926 my issue was masked as maybe a pressure relief valve problem but was actually the typical breaker issue. It wasn't blowing the breaker but I guess it wasn't getting enough power. I moved it to a 20A breaker and works flawlessly. Granted it tends to grenade logs so I am going to weld an axe head onto it.

how old are those logs? Will it be able to handle almost fresh logs of 17in diameter(cut down about 6 month ago)?
