Hi, Brian if I remember the instructions say you need to use heavy duty cable with 4mm wires inside, I got some cable from Amazon around 30 pounds and put socket ends on it. But you will need an outside socket to connect to if you don't have large enough cable it can damage the motor, but good luck with your splitter they are really great 👍
It’s a hydraulic log splitter. Funny thing is that I have a 4 ton splitter and split much bigger logs then what you show. I converted it to a one handed operation and no foot control,mine also splits logs into 4 pieces. My logs are 14-16 inches long and most of the time about 18 round. The wood is Russian oak and pine.
Hi David, I know it's been a while but I had a generator from a skip a few years ago, got it working I think its 3000 watt twin sockets, I tried it running the log splitter and it runs it quite well engine speed dips when you start the motor on the log splitter but soon recovers and the hydraulics doesn't alter the speed, works really well, I could pick up the rpm on the generator but I feel its good enough as it is, so yes the log splitter runs great with a quite small generator.
I've used my 2000w generator to run this log splitter, a few weeks ago, it worked perfectly idle speed dropped for a second when I started the splitter motor but it was very good
I like the table idea. Looks like a good mod to do. Much better than the naked splitter letting all the split wood just fall on the ground.

Try spraying WD40 on the splitting head and will be even better..

They are a great splitter very powerful, I split some very twisty wood with it no problem what so ever.you won't regret getting one.

Id say without the mod its unsafe. Two hands on buttons how are you supposed to control the round?

Robert, they were the only logs I had at the time, I have only split a small amount of wood with it as wood is hard to come across at the moment.
