    Hey man! I remember you from the triumph forums. Great to see the progress you've made on this bike. I eventually moved on to a daytona and then an rsv4 😅 getting this beauty for daily, travel, cafe runs etc. Amazing to see your map development. I binned my daytona ecu (some voltage snaffu with the battery charger), even Alain couldn't help out and was quite shocked. Stopped messing with ecu flashes post that. 😅
    But will definitely be trying out your map once I get the bike. Bike rides great but has some Euro5 shit down low.

    Hi, good video, I just wanted to double check on the read/write map situation. I have a 13+ Daytona which shows on the tune ecu site to be the same as yours in terms of needing the Bluetooth OBD LX link, which is fine, it doesn't show read it just shows diag/write same as how it is listed for your speed twin, I think my bike has a different map to stock on it already, is there a way for me to save my current map or would I have to go through and take a photo/notes of all the tables and re-input them to a re-downloaded stock map if I don't know which map has been previously installed?
    Basically I just want to keep the map that is currently on there but adjust the speedo/tacho percentage when I change the front sprocket but i'm fairly sure when it does that it writes the whole map. Also in the future if I did want to change any small areas but keep the current map saved it seems to me like that's not possible if I haven't downloaded a map first.

    • @SquireSCA
      @SquireSCA  Місяць тому +1

      Different tables... ETV reads how much you twist it, and gives a value of how much to open the physical throttleplates. THAT number is what the fuel and ignition tables use, so its already baked in.
      Otherwise, you would need to retune the fuel and ignition when changing from Rain, to Road, to Sport. The bike only has one set of fuel and ignition tables, and all three power modes use them.

Normally, its not a bad thing or indicative of a problem...

    I did this 3 weeks ago. Everything went fine but the next day when I started the bike, my engine light turned on. I didn't have time to check it and I was pretty sure it had to be the reset adaptation thing. Went on track that day (you can actually see the engine light on my last video), noticed the throttle improvement (especially since it was a short track, never went over 4th gear), and came back home with no problem.
    Then I plugged the obdlink and it was just a wrong placement of the crankshaft which I was able to fix with tune ECU.

      If you think that the throttle was improved, try the new map linked in the description.
      My first pass was just getting rid of the top end restrictions and leaving everything else alone. The latest map makes Road unrestricted up top, and Sport is still unrestricted and more aggressive everywhere, not just up top. It's now a very linear map, you twist the throttle and it delivers what you ask for, no matter where you are.

The more I read the less I believe this. For example there was a product called a booster plug that use to richen up the mixture but apparently that will cause engine warning lights etc to come on for a euro 5 model. Is this something you've heard about. I dont want to buy all this stuff to find I cant get into the ECU at the first step.

    Hello Dave. I am a rookie when it comes to ECU. I have a 23M Speedmaster, and want to change from stock exhaust to British Customs turn out tips. I have the tablet and OBD Link LX. I know how to change out the pipes, and hook up the ECU (on my tablet) and OBD Link LX. What I don't know is what to do next. I know that I need to re-tune after the pipes are changed, but not sure about the steps on the ECU. Can you give me some assistance?

    • @SquireSCA
      @SquireSCA  3 місяці тому

      Well, in order to tune it, you need to change the fueling, and maybe the ignition timing a bit. You can take a general approach and put more fuel into the typically lean cruising range and then taper off that amount as you move up the RPM... That often will get you a "good enough" and keep the motor safe, but its not what you would call optimal...
      To get optimal, you need to put the bike on a dyno and see exactly what its doing, and then dial in the precise amount of fuel at every throttle position and RPM range... This will cost you a few hundred bikes... Or, you can check a place like DNK Tuneworks and see if they already had your model of bike on the dyno, and get a map from them.
      Those are your 3 options. If you want help with option 1, I can assist with that if you give me the year, country, specific model and last 6 digits of the VIN.

    • @SquireSCA
      @SquireSCA  Рік тому +1

      Yes, you can put in trims, and when you flash the map, those trims go to the bike, so they do take effect. It makes for easier mapping when you have to make a few passes, because you always know what changes are currently in place. If you commit the trims then it updates the F tables and you likely won't remember exactly what you did and where.

    Hey there home slice, I've got a cool free mod tip for you all. The north American bikes come with a tail assembly that can be reconfigured with all the factory parts, except the one you need to eliminate, to do a tail tidy. The long bolt with sleeve just needs to be clearanced by drilling the plastic bracket out. Take it apart and it's self explanatory. You just move it under the fender further and all the screws line right up.

    • @SquireSCA

    • @andrewbecker3700
      @andrewbecker3700 Рік тому

      As I said, just take the tail assembly off, and then disassemble it. There's a way to put it back together which eliminates the one plastic bracket. Just move it further under the fender and all the screws line right up. The long bolt with spacer sleeve interferes with the main plastic bracket and just needs a hole drilled in it to clear. It's very simple, and you'll see once you get it apart. I like the way it ends up mounting and retains all factory lighting. Best part is its free!

    Is it possible or easy to just revert back to the standard mapping back and forth ?

    • @SquireSCA
      @SquireSCA  Рік тому

      Absolutely. You can download your stock make from TuneECU and save it on your Android device. I would also store a copy of it in a Box or Google Drive folder, just so that if you lost your phone, you have a backup. You can use the improved map until you go for your test, load the original map, get tested, and then go back to your improved map. Takes a few minutes.
      I live in a state that doesn't do emissions testing for bikes at all, and in my county, they don't even test cars. But if they did, then the process I mentioned, is what I would do.

      Yes. While I have not tuned an Aprilia with TuneECU, I hear that it can be done. I flashed my 2018 Tuono V4 1100rr with Guzzidiag and a Windows laptop. You can get the Race ECU map from Aprilia and push it to the ECU and make your ECU the race ECU.
      The question is, can you get the TuneECU version of the race ECU map? That I don't know. It might depend on the year of the bike. If not with TuneECU, then I expect you can with Guzzidiag which is still free I believe.

      @SquireSCA  5 місяців тому +1

      I wish people wouldn't do pod filters. They don't always add performance. There is this misconception that more air means more power, and that's not always true. There is a lot more to it than "how much" air. There is intake velocity, there is harmonics and pressure waves, there is the smoothness of the air, etc...
      These bolt on pods, how much real R&D do they do? And when they claim significant performance increases, gut "no tuning required"... how can that be? If it changes the flow and harmonics enough to boost power, then it ABSOLUTELY needs a tune... There is no free lunch, as they say.
      As for your stock map, its in the TuneECU database that you download from inside TuneECU.
      If you want a map for that setup, reach out to DNK. If you are going to put it on a dyno and tune it yourself, download the base map from TuneECU's database. If you need help with that let me know.

      Unfortunately no, you can't pull the map out of the bike. You can read the map number, but that doesn't tell you what is in the map. It will read the map number of the official map, but whether it is stock or modified, no way to tell. I will say though, that if it's only been written to twice, there is a good chance that it is still stock. The original map from the factory and probably the dealer updated it at some point...
      The green light showing... as I understand it, getting rid of the O2 and SAI in software doesn't so much disable it, as it disables the error codes if you remove it. • @SquireSCA
      @SquireSCA  9 місяців тому

      No, the cells are what they are. To be honest, nobody has ever shown exactly how much impact editing those tables has on things, but we figure it can't hurt. And I leave O2 active because these bikes run lean AF and you can't tune around idle... Any fuel trims in the idle area are ignored, so the O2 sensors are the only way to keep things from getting too lean at idle...

      @@SquireSCA Thanks. Does anybody have any idea which cells are closed loop? It seems that people are all trying to modify the AFR table without realizing that any closed loop cells (which are usually just above idle to 500rpm over 70mph cruise/just off throttle stop to 60-70% throttle) are going to be back at 14.7/1 in pretty short order. Is there a tutorial that shows how to adjust for a cat-less exhaust?

    • @SquireSCA
      @SquireSCA  Рік тому

      You need to tune its preferably on a dyno like I did. It depends on your bike, what mods you have done, etc... Sometimes you can just add some fuel to get it "good enough" or at least safe, but to actual dial it in you have to put it on a dyno and see what the motor is doing and tune it from there.

      Not true. It applies them when it pushes the map to the bike. I confirmed this with the TuneECU guys. You don't have to apply them for them to take effect, I oy if you want to create a new base map and reset the trims to zero.

    • @SquireSCA
      @SquireSCA  Рік тому

      Its automatic. Its there for tuning purposes, because you may do multiple passes and adjustments, and if you kept applying each time, you might not remember what the trims were from the last pass... So you can keep tweaking your trims, reprogramming, and they do take effect. Once you are done tuning and have it where you want, you can apply them to make them part of the F tables, or just leave them in the trim tables. Either way, they do take effect.
