Thanks to both of you for the CES footage and commentary. It's always a welcome break from the regular media outlets.
I had the same issue after moving my desktop. Please remove the cooler and re-seat the cpu. During a move, the cooler can pull out the cpu ever so slightly and it can lose contact. This worked for me
Kudos to Joe for spending his birthday hard at work editing. Hopefully he got some well deserved rest.

Happy birthday, Joe! If the editing computer box was standing in the truck while in transit, maybe weight of the GPU and/or the CPU cooler might have cracked the motherboard or a connector somewhere? I wish you guys find out and report in a later video. Best luck with the troubleshooting!
or the cpu pulled loose in the socket from the weight of the cooler if pc was transported standing up. always transport pc laying down with motherboard in horizontal position and cooler standing upright to minimize risk of damage.

I wondered whether you may have managed to catch up with Tom - that answered that! There were some fab tech sights to see, so again thanks to the both of you for the time and work! perfect situation for a Macbook pro, pro or max, so portable and will edit just as well as a beefy PC.

First time in Vegas over twenty years ago we got a view of the Treasure Island from our balcony. Only it was a legit small motel just as bad as one characters stop in while fleeing assassins in films. We got to watch the pirates fight the Royal Navy back when they did that when one of the ships still sank. Completely bonkers experience.

Awesome video, isn't it how crazy how big it was...it was overwhelming. I spent almost 2 days at the venetian and the rest at the lvcc, I feel like I saw nothing lol. I will most likely end up staying longer next year!
NEVER EVER use a tower cooler for a system which will be transported. A bump in the street let the heavy tower cooler bend the motherboard and break the pcb layers. Always use an AIO for pc's which will be moved a lot.
Or simply remove the Cooler before 😉
I moved twice last year, with the second move being just a few blocks away. I still removed the cooler and GPU from my computer. Takes just a few minutes to set it back up.
The problem with people who make 10k pc is they are never grounded..
But seriously, happy birthday Joe, thanks for the great content this year and I can't wait to see the rebirth of Joe's editing rig.

I really can't wait for the PC troubleshooting video. I kinda love those, figuring out what went wrong Sherlock style. Especially if its an uncommon issue and not the classic stuff you get from giving friends tech support aka "they forgot to plug in the GPU power cables" :D

I have never been to a tradeshow that is in the scale of CES or Computex, but as I got older and have been to some other expos, you begin to gain an understanding why brands put up the hassle and money of setting up a booth there - which you have mentioned in this video - exposure. Not really to inform, and definitely not to educate, but more or less a gracious way of shouting at the top of your lungs, "My brand's here!!" That's not to say you can't get something useful out of these from a consumer's viewpoint, but given this context I'm always interested in learning how the coverage of such big tradeshows in the media came about - how the information has been fed at the upstream of the pipeline.
Which is why I'm very appreciative that you showed the behind-the-scenes. You can tell that whenever media got their information from the brands, it's often in a crowded place with a lot of noise and I presume music? blaring at their ears as they are frantically taking notes amidst a busy schedule. That's amongst a backdrop of free foods and handshakes with strangers for the umpteenth time within the same day.
And I'm not sure whether there's enough to make a UA-cam video but it'll be informational to learn about the troubleshooting of Joe's dead machine. I'm really curious to see what actually happened there. It seems like a dead MB? My first port of call was the vibration of the transit but your theory about ESD is also plausible, and the thing about tempered glass not making as good a Faraday's cage to protect the internals from ESD has fleetingly crossed my mind in the past but I'd always assumed it wouldn't make a very significant practical difference. Again, very curious.
I had this exact issue a few weeks ago when updating my motherboard/CPU. I though it was PSU at first until I did the paperclip. Then thought motherboard. As it turns out it was the new Intel gen 4 CPU was mounted with the anti-bending CPU pressure plate allowed the CPU to move out of position. Loosened this pressure plate and moved it around slightly and this worked. Good luck.

Thank you, thank you , thank you! For me this was the best of CES. I love trade shows and this video shows why. The show floor electronics is out of this world. What computer and graphics system did they use to display that giant ball? The display was seamless to my eyes. How many computers did it take to operate? You guys really do earn your money.

20 ish years ago I learned it is not the best thing to travel with desktop PCs. I am surprised you guys (based on the size of your channel as I don't really follow you) don't have a couple of laptops for such expeditions.
