Are they doing to ban AI-enabled monitors in general? Will they build their own AI to detect external peripherals, and how will they make sure not to flag false positives? When new tech/software emerges, the company will try to block it, and people who want an edge will try to bypass it or find ways to hide it. The company will find a solution to hide it, and hackers will try to break the solution or come up with a newer exploit. It's a constant cat-and-mouse game.
IMO, the MSI monitor is definitely cheating. It's supplemental information that the game developers did not intend to expose to the player. It's kinda like the monitors that have a built in reticle in the center of the screen (like MSI has done in the past), and that's widely considered cheating. If a static reticle is cheating, then this is DEFINITELY cheating.
it is cheating, but it kinda isn't that much of a deal, it might bring bronze to gold, but at higher levels people look at minimap 50% of the time, minimap awareness is like first thing to getting good at those games, later is itemization, hero selection and then mechanical skill some will say mechanical skill is everything, but nah, you can sweat all you want and if you use wrong heroes or itemize wrong you will be dead before you know it, mehanical skills and working well under pressure is the top 5% difference
It's not cheating, it's only showing you what's on the mini-map in a different spot. If you aren't paying attention to the mini-map you are a scrub anyway.

Agreed Paul - until there is a standard that all manufacturers agree on and adhere to, I'll remain opposed. BUT once it's standardized in that all manufactures are doing the same thing (as opposed to all manufacturers are doing their own thing), I'll be all in.
We could really benefit from a new ATX standard at this point to be fair. We've been using the same basic layout for decades and it doesn't really lend itself to modern hardware. They came up with the BTX standard to fix some of the issues that newer hardware were making obvious, like being far more power hungry and running hotter but it didn't really go far. A few workstation boards used it. The original cheese grater Mac Pro's used it and other Xeon based boards around that time. It's more compartmentalised for cooling zones and power delivery. I think the main thing holding back this from happening is backwards compatibility with existing ATX systems. It's a classic case of "we need to do something better but can't because its so entrenched". A common issue in the PC world. Just look how long VGA stuck around for example!
is it cheating "yes" its cheating because its an automated tool that will assist you by providing additional information given to the player whom otherwise wouldn't have access to. If you as a player, have access to informational gain that other players DO NOT have access to - that is cheating.
My understanding is it's using information the player DOES have access to... aka, the minimap; they said it's only using the same screen the player sees; aka the monitor output of the PC. Still... I would be unhappy if I died because I got spotted because of this when I otherwise wouldn't have. It's a rather interesting dilemma in some ways, like would a tool to visualize sound for a deaf person be cheating when used by non-deaf people. Just like here, someone who can multitask and watch the minimap would be aware where as someone who can't, would be caught by surprise. Where do we draw the lines? It'll be interesting to see how this all plays out.
@@Raletiai agree and can see this being used by people with disabilities. If I remember correctly in some people would use colorblind settings because they gave advantages

I mean, all that AI is doing is what any decent league player already does himself -- having map awareness. It wouldn't move the needle for anyone who is above silver. But still kinda silly to put it at a hardware level lmao.
So, for the ASUS GPUs with the power slot thingie, wouldn't a GPU riser enable anyone to use it in a different branded motherboard? And about case compatibility, Dremel is our friend, almost any case can be coerced into accepting these motherboards as long as the standoffs remain ATX compatible.😅
Competitions won't allow this, but if you mean ranked I don't see how this is going to hurt your ELO more than any other cheats and it probably won't be hard to flag/blacklist this when polling hardware during normal anticheat routines.
been dead since battlefield 4 dragon teeth dlc so roughly 2014-2015 it's been 8 years that there is not one game online without cheaters I know because I tried an aimbot and after 7 days not only did no one call me out but I saw the other wallhack users follow me left and right perfectly from the other side of the map..they saw me through x buildings walls and mountains this in every pvp game so I just stopped playing them they are everywhere and the reason is around 2015 is when aimbots switched from being troll hacks to being a business model earning millions to bad companies a german one was shutdown by blizzard they earned 300'000€ per month selling cheat accesses
People been cheating for the past decades in counter-strike pro league. A shit ton of shady stuff happened with some pro player and their “insane” aim. Flick shot and aim locking is a skill but when you aim head lock on walls… I wouldnt even be surprised same thing in league of legends with scripting. Its already a big problem in solo queue, i wouldnt doubt some pro player have their own either in their mouse or keyboard. We live in a world owned by a few trying really really hard to sell us their views and what we should watch or like. 😂 AI monitor, soon AI keyboard and mouse.
Clean builds are fine, but some of us like the look of cables. Personally, I dig the "1960s telephone exchange wired by hyperactive caffeinated ferrets"" aesthetic.
I want the edge connector to become a standard. I understand the opinion that it erases backward compatibility and that is fine by me if the entire industry moves towards it. The problem is without a standard it isn't going to. Also, the people at the end of the spectrum who buy them probably don't care. My biggest reason not to like the edge connector is that it would make vertical mounting hard to do. And I like vertical mounting my GPU.
There should be a way to have both connectors, maybe make the extra edge connector removable, and have a cover on the 'standard' connector for aesthetics. Then it's the best of both worlds.
For me it would be totally annoying to have to see Another thing on the screen covering up whatever game I'm playing, as far as the Ai info goes. I don't play cod or etc but fortnite already let's you see footsteps in the direction of your enemies, a bit of directional sound (which doesn't work all that great, and now sunlight gleam on the enemy when engaged from a distance. So no excess Ai needed there.
Can we get a video asking where all the 4090 Super, 4090Ti, or 4090Ti Super models are? As a streamer in need of a new GPU / system, I haven't heard anything of this product and would like to know more.
This sadly isn't limited to MSI. ASUS TUF series monitors come/came with radar for FPS and BR and games like this one shown. This was like 5 years ago but yeah.
There should be a limit to how much a tool can assist the player in a competitive game. It's not wrong to have good equipment, but while it's okay for an athelete to wear lightweight running shoes wwith spikes, it's a different story when they come up in an exoskeleton. This monitor lets us think about where the shoe becomes an exoskeleton in competitive gaming.
That monitor is cheating. I'm not OK with that. To think about old tricks, putting a physical DOT at the center of the monitor while the game doesn't have crosshair is considered cheating; anything that DO MORE than that is definitely NOT OK.
Theres also a pretty big difference between something passive like putting a dot on your screen (and some monitors have an overlay option) and an active thing like highlighting the enemy etc. They're both cheating to me but this takes it to an extreme.
Some games lock the frame rate when playing online and also ban you for just using Reshade filters. So yeah... this thing will be very interesting to see how much flak it gets.
Until they standardize the format for these "BTF" form factors, I'm not going to be interested. I don't want to buy into a proprietary one, then try to upgrade my GPU a few years later and have to be restricted to a single brand, or worse, be told that the manufacturer changed their mind and their new form factor is incompatible with the old one, or that they abandoned the concept altogether because it wasn't a popular enough idea, or that when a new series of GPUs launch there's going to be a delay before "BTF" cards get released because they standard cards are the focus on launch.

Good job, Paul. Let's not forget that TVs have been monitoring what we watch by analyzing the video content and matching the content to video fingerprints of known content. It's possible my monitor might be reading this comment right now.

Granted this is just moba footage so curious how it'll handle things like CS2/Valorant or Warzone with gunshots, footsteps etc but just going off of this footage alone it doesn't look like it works like a radar/wallhack of displaying that info constantly so we'll have to wait and see how it works in other games to know for sure but I have feelin it's just gonna be gimmicky and not provide any significant advantage.

When new tech/software emerges, the company will try to block it, and people who want an edge will try to bypass it or find ways to hide it. The company will find a solution to hide it, and hackers will try to break the solution or come up with a newer exploit. It's a constant cat-and-mouse game.
Ngl tho. Tht gpu look like FE but more minimalist yet professional 7:38
99% of monitors have the reticle now so its less cheaty then AI telling you where people are with on screen flashing icon.
it is cheating, but it kinda isn't that much of a deal, it might bring bronze to gold, but at higher levels people look at minimap 50% of the time, minimap awareness is like first thing to getting good at those games, later is itemization, hero selection and then mechanical skill
some will say mechanical skill is everything, but nah, you can sweat all you want and if you use wrong heroes or itemize wrong you will be dead before you know it, mehanical skills and working well under pressure is the top 5% difference
It's not cheating, it's only showing you what's on the mini-map in a different spot. If you aren't paying attention to the mini-map you are a scrub anyway.
It looks like it would be pretty annoying for an experienced player.
hi Paul sorry this has nothing to do with what this video's about but. I need to ask you about windows 11 or 10 (bought. legaly with key ). because my version isn't legit on my gaming pc and Its ruining it because of t he ''activate windows watermark on the right. bottom of the screen , ive tried everything and I m out. of options should I buy the windows 11 or 10 ? thank you
The 4080 super expert is a very nice-looking card. Considering the 4080 was always an $800 card in a $1200 card's clothing, I'd ideally pay $900 for the Expert.
Great video Paul. Try make sure you try and have some fun while your out there
If you get the 4080 super expert, will you grade cheese on the side panel, because those edges are sharp...and you could do it, and it would work!!
Wait so I hadn't noticed before, but does the 4070 non super have more VRAM than the Super edition ?
No it's the same.
Very interested in that 4080 Super FE styled from MSI. Hopefully they price it close to that $999 usd msrp....hopefully..
is it cheating "yes" its cheating because its an automated tool that will assist you by providing additional information given to the player whom otherwise wouldn't have access to.
I want a Project Zero NV9, just so I have the option. Forward compatible with any PZ/BTF build I may go with in the future.
*We need HBMM Hardware Based Matchmaking- im still on 60hz!* 😂😭😭
Can only imagine what the unscrupulous cheat devs will make with this monitor.
Why wait. MSI has already done it.
Which is why it will likely end up on a fixed ban-list in a shitton of anti-cheat hardware. You're using an MSI MEG 321URX QD-OLED? You don't get to play the game.
@@MrMartinSchou Please share how a game is going to know you are using this monitor? The AI functions on the monitor itself and is not extra software running on your system.
@@MrMartinSchou not really possible especially in europe, thats similar to google checking if u dont have antiadv addons, they just cant enter your pc legally and check that
@@elassan8449 if valorant can (effectively) rootkit your system, I doubt finding the monitor name would be very difficult
Will the minimap threat detection AI work for other games?
I mean, all that AI is doing is what any decent league player already does himself -- having map awareness. It wouldn't move the needle for anyone who is above silver. But still kinda silly to put it at a hardware level lmao.
So, for the ASUS GPUs with the power slot thingie, wouldn't a GPU riser enable anyone to use it in a different branded motherboard?
And about case compatibility, Dremel is our friend, almost any case can be coerced into accepting these motherboards as long as the standoffs remain ATX compatible.😅
RIP competitive gaming
Humans and machines working together. This is only the beginning of what will be a wonderful friendship.
I wonder if games will ban use of these monitors in the future. Get a error message saying...
"Lol nah homie you gotta use a different monitor, sorry"
Yes. It's cheating and I am ashamed of manufacturers that do this
MSI for the win...case manufacturers can easily adapt to this.
"All the connectors on the back!" (giant power cable coming out of graphics card) :|
I really liked that MSI reference inspired 4080 super. I liked the aesthetic.
Can we get a video asking where all the 4090 Super, 4090Ti, or 4090Ti Super models are? As a streamer in need of a new GPU / system, I haven't heard anything of this product and would like to know more.
It is only rumours, but as far as I know, Nvidia have no plans for those currently.
Those MSI graphic cards can double as a cheese grater
Handsome gfx card … wish more models like this were available
100 percent a map style cheat... The hp bar is cool though
This sadly isn't limited to MSI. ASUS TUF series monitors come/came with radar for FPS and BR and games like this one shown. This was like 5 years ago but yeah.
I had Asus had sound card when you instal drivers it show on screen where sound comes from think name was asus raid DLX.
3:48 okay but the big question here is ..why is LoL in Czech language 👀👀
lol the ai display would be cool if it could tell me where the hell im getting shot from in Rust lol
Love that super 4080 I would hate to buy that and put a water cooler on it after all that work they did to that nice looking case of the 4080 super .
I'll be perfectly honest but the most exciting thing I've seen that is that MSI Claw handheld gaming console.
Super excited for these new graphics cards!
Now make the minions health bar red when you can last hit them 😂
If its only using on screen info is it cheating? Like I could glance at my mini map and see the threats?
Wait a handheld that has a two hour battery life? Did i hear that right? How long does the steamdeck last? That seems completely useless.
so what does the ai on the monitor do?
I didn‘t look the video yet, but that reminds me when Asus included a wallhack in the Geforce drivers.
If placing a physical dot sticker on a monitor in a game where the reticle is removed is deemed cheating, yep. True story too.
A centered crosshair will never be cheating, but I have heard some grumpy individuals
@@puffyips Ok, glad we got an expert analysis. I'll just pretend a friend being banned from CS:GO for exactly this never happened.
@@calvin659 If that's the case, Valve must be especially full of shit since they believed it was cheating even more than we did and after he appealed. Thanks for chiming in. For a moment, I thought I should go with reality, but now that we've had a second expert comment, seems we have a final verdict. Though next time, don't forget the internet's customary high IQ "pics or it didn't happen." Hurts your 1337cred when you neglect that.
@@calvin659. It could be a situation where there was a history of questionable shots made that got him banned. It’s not the sticker, it’s the defying probability upon reviews.
Your friend didn’t get banned for a sticker lmao what bs. He was probably being toxic or actually cheating if he got banned
MSI making consumers ponder ethics: Traditions
I see stuttering on that msi console thing when u were playing assassins creed game
Imagine lugging this awesome monitor to some LAN and ready up for some "competitive" gaming with your nerdlings....you'd get lynched my son! :D Although....I could see this Ai tech be directed at people with disabilities and impairments, in gaming and perhaps in general use stuff!
dam looks like lian li started a firestorm of fish tank like case designs across all vendors. also imagine using that msi monitor on fps games
I hope msi and intel fixes their drivers before launch. I really want to get the msi claw to keep my msi ecosystem but if it doesn't pan out well, the steam deck Oled would probably be the way.
that thing looks to perform worse then the old steam deck. The rog Ally or lenovo go are miles ahead.
@@Indrejue I was fearing this ngl. The way the game stutters during the vid is scary. Still hope it could be fixed but if not I think the Rog ally or the steam deck Oled would be my go to.

AT 10:44 is that lag? Or just how that game plays?
Are you refering to the weird non-collision at 10.46? Strange...
@@PaulEmsley I am.
@@99Duds my guess is that it is broken/naive collision detection.
@@PaulEmsley So the game is broke not the hardware. I know ARK graphics have had there issues.
600 is a good price for a 4080super
It was barely a cheat. It was pointing out enemies clearly already visible on screen, and people saying it got an award for being a cheating monitor don't understand it got an award for it's concept and possible future implementations. Something like this can be used for way more than gaming.
Its only for cheating, stop kidding yourself.
Good job, Paul.
Let's not forget that TVs have been monitoring what we watch by analyzing the video content and matching the content to video fingerprints of known content.
It's possible my monitor might be reading this comment right now.
my monitor is about 9-10 years old, so i am not worried lmao
it will be detected as generic pnp display and no one will know anything about the ai. it also draws the picture on the output device and not through the rendering device (gpu), so overlay detection wont work.
I'm ngl it doesn't even seem that useful that skull seems to show up once you've seen the enemy in LoS (line of sight).
It was a little disappointing to see the stutter in the Claw. Even when just running around in the game. I like the looks of the unit itself though.
Thank you for PROVING the MSI Claw uis NOT READY FOR MARKET!!!!! - Did you SEE ALL THAT GARBAGE ON SCREEN WHEN THE WALLS CLIPPED @ 10:34 AND @ 10:39 !!!!!! HAHAHA!!!! SORRY BUT ARC IS NOT READY YET!!!! (I REALLY hope they get those wonky multi-colored triangles out of there before Battlemage.... YIKES!!!!)
The fact that PC Gamer handed out an award for a screen that helps you cheat makes me seriously question their ethical standards...
ASUS have this MB connector idea a while already 😂😂😂
Motherboard Connectors in the rear is a bigger Gimmick than RGB lighting. You can build a clean open displayed Desktop PC the normal way. Opting for these gimmick connectors in the back will just set yourself up to have a nightmare on rear cable management. 😂
An AI monitor would help anyone who is hearing impaired and is an FPS gamer. Footstep or gunshot sound markers showing the direction of the enemy. That's just one example of a game category.
I could see the ai monitor thing being benefical for people with vision issues. I guess the issue there could be where do you draw the line, do we not include these kind of features for people that have disabilities because people could abuse them
Game has its own ranking system. If you have issues with vision or reflex, you will be placed lower. There's no need to support everybody until they can reach challenger lmao
@@jakubvsv9305 you are assuming this monitor will only work on this one game and if that'll be the case then it would be a waste. I was talking about games in general not this one game.
I wouldn't consider it as cheating, but a quality of life tool.
If it's providing information that's not available to others, then I would consider it as chesting.
It's providing information that's not available to other users, unless those other users are getting big skulls on their screens showing where people are, instead of having to use your eyes to look at the minimap.
@@BobBobsonid consider it an accessibility feature for those with vision issues.
I’m super confused about why Paul was pointing out Yi’s health bar.. it wasn’t doing anything extra special than it would normally in game.
Btw I’m not trying to throw shade at Paul, I really don’t know what he was trying to call out.
I'd love to have that monitor but then I need to get a new graphics card to run it 🙁
Give the AI a larger FoV and there you go. ;)
It can even predict your chance of wining based on the current state and player statistics.
Next years MSI monitor will play the game for you..."MSI Guarantees a rank of Gold 3 or better in all shooter games" 😂
This monitor is lacking a mouse input.
Imagine if you could plug a mouse into it.
Then the monitor would analyze the image, and move the mouse in order to reduce recoil, or aim automatically.
