zeppelin was blessed with four musical geniuses. pink floyd is legendary but no one can compare to Robert Plant’s voice, my cousin Jimmy Page on guitar, John Paul Jones riding that bass and what the fuck can you say about BONZO on those damn drums… he is beaten the hell out of those drums like they stole something.

Led Zeppelin vs. Pink Floyd? Well, let's put it this way. Led Zeppelin were together for 12 years (1968-1980) until the unexpected death of drummer, John Bonham, and have "officially" sold 300+ million albums. Pink Floyd has been putting out music for 35 years (1965-1994, 2005, 2007, 2013-2014, 2022) and have sold about 250 million albums. PF was very good and lyrically speaking, might have a bit of an edge on occasion but overall, imho LZ was better. They were more versatile, more creative, better musicians.
Edit: Personally, I still listen to Led Zeppelin quite regularly and have been since they dropped their first album, but I listen to Pink Floyd only occasionally.
Last song on Led Zeppelin 1. Really hard to compare Led Zeppelin to Pink Floyd; they're both very different and both awesome.

This is my first time seeing your music reactions. As a longtime rocker of 61 years of age, Led Zeppelin and Pink Floyd are definitely in my top three, with Zeppelin number one and Pink Floyd being number three. My number two pick, is Black Sabbath! To tell you the truth, Sabbath and Zeppelin switch places at the top of the list, depending on my mood.

Easily the best song that I have ever heard and my all time favorite! The whole thing is just genius! Showcases all of their brilliance as musicians and I defy anybody to tell me otherwise. This has been my favorite going back to when I first heard it in the late 70s. Plants blues vocals over the hard driving rhythm to Bonzos dominance on the drums not to be out done and the incredible guitaring of Page to JPJ on bass! Too damn good for words. Love it

Zeppelin, Sabbath and Deep Purple are my all time favorites. Pink Floyd had a great run of albums from Meddle to Animals, but I never liked much of The Wall or anything after that.

Gotta agree with waynemoon, a few friends of mine and I saw Led Zeppelin in 1969 at The Forum in Inglewood, CA. (home of the Lakers). It was positively mind-altering, like nothing we had ever heard before.

Pink Floyd and Led Zeppelin is an "Apples and Oranges" comparison. In their own genres, they are both Number One. My generation was lucky to have grown up when there were several different genres within rock. The Who were also one of those bands that weren't either "Zeppelinish" or "Floydish", along with The Moody Blues, Supertramp, The Beach Boys, The Beatles, The Kinks, The Eagles, Fleetwood Mac, The Rolling Stones, Lynyrd Skynyrd, The Outlaws, Aerosmith, Queen, ZZ Top, Chicago, Boston, Steely Dan, Kansas, . . . I could go on . . . and on and on and on. WE HAD IT GOOD!

I think PF are better lyricists, LZ better musicians. Both are great bands. For me the difference is, there are hardly no bad songs in LZ catalog, PF does. Not every album from PF is great as with LZ. Finally, LZ is just more eclectic in their music. PF has a signature sound, all songs are similar in a way

When I was growing up there were those who were into floyd and those who were into Zeppelin, very different energy. I loved Zeppelin back then and will always be amazed by them. I didnt appreciate floyd til years later.

LZ is king. I love PF but LZ are as versatile as they come. They have everything in their lib, blues, heavy metal, hard rock, ballads, trippy songs, regae style types… and they’re all AMAZING. Pink Floyd is legendary but they don’t have that kind of lib.

Comparing Led Zeppelin to Pink Floyd is a wrong comparison --- apples to oranges... two totally different vibes. Zeppelin is the epitome of blues/rock fusion. Both bands are arguably in a class by themselves -- both are that good and that unique. If you had to measure on sheer talent at vocals, bass, drums, and lead guitar, it's hard to top Led Zeppelin -- I don't think it's been done yet or will be.
LZ v. PF is a great debate and really depends on your taste. LZ more bluesy/Soul, PF more progressive rock. Probably the two biggest acts of the 70's along with Queen. We are blessed to hear all of these fine musicians. BTW, that was Jimmy Page playing his guitar with a violin bow in that pschedelic section. 1969, long before synthesizers were a thing.

Zeppelin. LOVE 'em both, but Zeppelin. Plus, Floyd were two different bands, sort of like Fleetwood Mac was. Zeppelin was always just Zeppelin. When one went down, it was over.
Zeppelin & Pink Floyd are different, Pink Floyd is a more mellow band, both are amazing but Zeppelin is my favorite.

Yes Led Zeppelin is more popular than pink Floyd! Zeppelin came on the scene in 69 and changed the way the music was going! If it wasn't for zeppelin there would be no black Sabbath and pink Floyd one who changed their style of music if it wasn't for zeppelin! Black Sabbath were close friends with zeppelin and Ozzy said Zeppelin was mind blowing!

Pink Floyd and Led Zeppelin are so different it's extremely difficult to compare both unless you rate them based on numerical data such as most albums sold, more chart hits, most concert tickets sold, most highly regarded musicians in opinion polls, etc. Otherwise, it's purely subjective and personal taste which cannot be enumerated. I love both but in either case it's the first two albums that get to me the most by far. Once the '70s came around, both bands veered off in other directions from their first two releases. I generally prefer '60s music over '70s although there are exceptions.
Pink Floyd were a more creative band and lasted longer as a cohesive unit. But Zeppelin just ARE rock. They didn’t create genres they just walked in and kicked ass all over them.
Zeppelin over Floyd all day every day. Not saying that Floyd isn't great but Floyd has nothing on Zep

Led Zeppelin is the more talented band live definitely. Pink Floyd is a very different sound and good in their own way but always sits below Zeppelin, as do all other classic rock bands.

i lived all eras from just before beatles and was a TOTAL BEATLEMANIAC on up saw led zeppelin 2 times in concert had every album as they came out saw pink floyd 3 times in concert here is how it is there are the top 4 they are the beatles -the stones -led zeppelin and the grateful dead - i saw the stones in the 70's 80's and 90's i saw the grateful dead 78 , yes that is 78 times (9 years apart) the NEXT TIER INCLUDES pink floyd, the who, jethro tull, and a few very few others,,,, .......dont get me wrong i absolutely love floyd especiall dark side and wish you were here and also meddle however the top 4 i know all of and they are in stone!!!!

Of course, everybody, has a favourite band, (for me it's Jimi Hendrix), Led Zeppelin is the best band ever on stage, because, of the telepathic link between them, always improvising!
