So AWESOME!!! Justin and Amber, as you can see, I was Rockin' Out way before you two were born!! Love you both!! Thanks!! ❤😻
The age of these guys - Plant and Bonham were 20/21. JPJ was 24. Page was 25. Think back to when you were that age. Stunning performance all around. Robert Plant just instinctively knew how to command the stage at age 20. Damn. THE BEST BAND EVER!
The crowd was told to hold back because they were recording for television
They were told to be still as it was being recorded.
Ladies & Gentlemen please welcome Led Zeppelin !!!! Robert Plant at 21yrs old here was already Legend worthy
You guys have to listen to the Madison Square Garden performance of Since I've been living you!!!
Innovative and raw young Zep. Hot personified!!
👍Led Zeppelin changed the game! What ingenius musicians!
Starting at 7:00 you can see how fearless they were, even at the start, about experimenting live! Not only the "call and response" technique you mentioned, but Jimmy just doesn't care if some of it sounds choppy (or sloppy as his critics say) ... He gladly sacrifices perfection in search of a new and different sound, a unique experience the audience will take home with them and playing songs different at every live performance. These qualities plus the legendary live improvs are what will separate them from their contemporaries. Also, it didn't hurt to have perhaps the best rhythm section and the most dynamic voice of the time!
I talked extensively about how much I appreciate Jimmy for being 'sloppy' in his playing and my sister said I would offend the fans so I cut it.. Thanks so much for mentioning it... it's part of the loose alchemy of the band and something I greatly appreciate.
Do more! Greatest band ever!!
same time next year
The connection between Bonham and John Paul is something special...coming from a drummer.
It is like two bands on stage mold into one. That's when you know you are in a special band.
Incredible.
agreed.
The beginning. This is late 1968 and very few people knew of Led Zeppelin. Jimmy Page is still using his Telecaster guitar from the New Yardbirds before he eventually switches to his traditional Les Paul. It's no wonder the audience aren't sure what to make of them. Such a great video and fine reaction. Thanks for sharing.
Thanks for checking us out!
March 1969 my friend. Still early definitely not late 68.
Making the details of the song up as they go....real musicianship
100%
This was broadcast for TV the producers told the audience Don't go crazy and don't be loud! That's why and this wasn't a real concert it was really reserved! That's why Jimmy Page said they're not going to do TV shows anymore and they didn't!
interesting context!!!
The GOAT! 65 YO now and I listen to Zepp everyday!
Hell yes!
Great reaction. Totally agree. This was only broadcast on Denmark at the time I believe. Never on US tv. It was broadcast once on British tv in 1989 on the BBC. I remember video taping it at the time.
Led Zeppelin never performed on American or British tv during their time as a band.
Cheers.
🤘🤘 JIMMY.
LMAO
This is a live studio recording; the audience has agreed to remain quiet so ambient sounds won't be picked up on mics! It was a fairly new kind of event, but that is why the audience seems lethargic!
didn't know the microphones could pick up smiling and jaw drops. lol. But yeah I am sure they were told to be quiet.. Which is kind of weird considering how many tv appearances in the 60s thrived on the audience going nuts and screaming (Beatles/the stones/etc). Thanks for rocking with us!
Story is...Bonzo was already kicked from a couple other bands for being too loud.
Dad's loving the groove!
Cool!!...
SO fun to watch you guys deep divin' and jammin' to this powerhouse early performance of the epic Zep! Justin, your obvious knowledge of this performance and Amber, your obvious gobsmackery at seeing it for the first time were both very enjoyable to see! My fav band, hope you do more of them! (And: Robert was a bit unsure of himself onstage the first year or two. So when he "takes charge" ("cue miss" era, 12:47) I just LOVE that Jimmy and JPJ are smiling, like: "Cool! Go for it, dude!"
Hell yeah! Thanks so much for the kind words and rocking with us. You clearly know your stuff and I'm glad we made a die hard fan proud with our reaction/celebration of this iconic performance.
@@THEDEEPDIVE 🎸😄
PLant and Bonham are only around 19-20 yrs old...theyve been a band for less than a year...and they are already improvising with this level of precision and creativity...then you watch the MSG show from 1973; ya'll have to react to "Since I've Been Loving You" and "Stairway to Heaven" from that concert...maybe not the deepest dive, but worth it to appreciate the band...thanks
Simply the GOATS!!!!!!!!🔥🔥🔥🔥🔥🔥🔥🔥🔥🔥🔥🔥🔥🔥🔥🔥🔥🔥🔥🔥🔥🔥🔥🔥🔥🔥🔥🔥🔥🔥🔥🔥🔥🔥🔥🔥🔥🔥😎
Absolute greatness right out of rhe gate
it helps that they all had done great high level work before coming together as led zeppelin.
@@THEDEEPDIVE jonesy and page had. robert and bonzo were local musicians and hadnt done anything big at all
@@eatthisvr6 it's nuanced. Plant had recorded professional for CBS records as early as 66 and he was only 17. take a listen ua-cam.com/video/LynX_3ve6BI/v-deo.html. They hadn't 'HIT IT BIG' but they did high level work prior. Bonham and Plant were in Band of Joy together and their demos were sounding professional already too. ua-cam.com/video/flv6K8SsZ38/v-deo.html.
It’s a little club....what do you expect! The GOATS😎🔥🔥🔥🔥🔥🔥🔥🔥🔥🔥🔥🔥🔥🔥🔥🔥🔥🔥🔥🔥 This was early raw & while Zeppelin!
The GOATS! 😎🔥🔥🔥🔥🔥🔥🔥🔥🔥🔥🔥🔥🔥🔥🔥🔥🔥 Early and Raw…
The only time I've ever seen Plant in that cool black outfit. I wonder why he didn't wear it more. It is my favourite of what he wore.
Great reaction. you use the right word, seduced. That’s what Led Zeppelin does to people. They’re not just music they’re way of life for some of us. Have a good new year.💚✌🏼
happy new year and thanks for rocking with us!
Their absorbing the music. No cell phones, no distractions just being present in the moment.
they didn't look very present. many of them don't even seem to be actively watching the band.
Outstanding as usual.
"I'm seduced" lol. That performance RIPPED. "It's everything.." Loved that long list of disparate genres. So legit.
Yeah, these people did not know what they were looking at. Totally blown away.
Yeah they knew what they were looking at
Lets Go!!
The crowd is Dazed & Confused understandably this must of been pretty mind blowing to them heck it still blows my mind in 2023 how awesome this performance was 54yrs later
One of the best live performances ever!
Whats even more amazing is Plant had laryngitis REALLY BAD for this performance, but he still powered through... but he couldnt get the highs at all that you can hear on every other bootleg from '69... vocals that would tear your head off!... (check out Paris '69 video, Plant's vocals on Communication Breakdown are vintage '69, SO MUCH BETTER than the Danish TV)... and if you havent checked it out yet, Dazed and Confused from the Super Show in early '69 is incredible, much better mix than Danish TV and the whole band is firing on all cylinders! ua-cam.com/video/IC6SwzXvyzw/v-deo.html
you can hear his voice break pretty early in the 1st song they did.. so I believe you.
The actor who played in man from uncle, I think his name is David McCallum. His father suggested it to Jimmy page I mean to use the violin bow
cool context!
Led Zeppelin does not
plug in to amplifiers
Led Zeppelin
plugs in to your SOUL
preach
🤘🎶❤️
Thats good blues rock
Enjoyed your reaction. I do think it's a shame you plan to react to Zeppelin only once a year. Their music needs to be heard by as many "newbies" as possible so it's lost as us old geezers start to disappear. ;)
Oops! So it's NOT lost . . . ;)
@@jmar7631 zeppelin gets more love than 99% of bands to ever exist in the culture (radio/books/magazines/youtube/etc). I think they will be fine.
@@THEDEEPDIVE Yes, for those who listen to rock channels, read about rock bands, or search them out on UA-cam. Otherwise, most young people only come across them by accident, which is why the more exposure they get on platforms like UA-cam, the better. But, of course, it was just a thought.
The TV producers told the little audience to be quiet and don't get loud because this was a TV show! That's why Jimmy Page didn't have Zeppelin do many TV spots!
They didn't miss the queue they were waiting for Plant!
seems like Plant ended his vocal buildup too early to line up with the band coming in and it made that transition awkward. Small hiccup in an otherwise amazing performance.
If I rank led zeppelin albums from best to good it would follow there order of release...in my opinion this is common for geniuses..
My parents like it
Watching with my dad he says all audiences in the sixties were like this it took years before people loosened up also drugs
Audience was not prepared for what was upon them.. Could you imagine sitting Indian style in front row.. They Know Not What They Are Blessed With!!
I don’t think they missed the “cue.” Everyone re-entered on Bonham’s fourth beat instead of on the first. It elongated that tension a bit. Now that’s how you say hello to the world. 🔥
watching it a million times it seems like Plant peaked vocally a bit too early to match the band transition right there It definitely feels and sounds like a misstep but as you say it added tension to the whole thing.. Intentional or not I dig it.
What the bro is doing i do same when watching, they call me the hunter is a free song lyric
I like the early live performances when they were green and not very well known but the studio version is a superior production along with the rest of their first album that Jimmy produced to perfection .
I guess they gave it up for Journey, eh. I was so convinced.
I don't understand your comment. Who gave what up?
This is in Denmark. Nowhere near their best rendition.
Which one is your favorite rendition?
cello bow.
yeah thanks. I misspoke there.
@@THEDEEPDIVE it's cool brother, I made same mistake too many years ago, was corrected and never forgot. As long as it's Zeppelin, EVERYTHING'S ALL RIGHT/ALRIGHT!!
seriously these people in the audiences are scared they don't know WTF this is they can't come out of the closet
listen to the ORIGINAL NOT THIS NO ONE EVER HEARD THIS THEY HEARD THE ALBUM THATB IS WHY THIS SONG IS LEGENDARY NOT NOT NOT THIS
no thanks. This version is 100 times better IMO and part of what we do here is go beyond the albums.
