Thanks for making my Friday night Sir. We layed on the floor between our speakers, so many great times. Only problem was someone had to get up and flip the record over.
I used to do the same so you can actually feel the music and the drums especially pounding through your body after smoking a fat one . Your senses were so heightened by the weed and the the thunderous Zep music would just be even more incredible.
You're bringing back memories for me. I smoked a lot of weed sitting on the floor listening to Zeppelin playing on a 95% cranked volume knob. The 5% less kept down the static.
The day this album became available, I bought it, took it to my girlfriend's house, went to the family room, hair down to my shoulders, cranked up the stereo up to 10! About the time we got to Dazed And Confused, father walked in Shouted out " WTF is this Sh*t ???" Right then, I KNEW it was one of the greatest albums created!!! Since then I have worn out 3 albums, 2 8-tracks, 2 cassettes 3 CD's. Ipods, etc. And now I'm listening to it with you on YT media, 54 yrs later. Thanks man. Enjoy.
I think I can speak for all of the Zepheads here when I say we appreciate the time and attention you put into this. Just wait for the second album-and every one thereafter-be prepared to have your head blown off!! It only gets better..
Just think - the singer, Robert Plant and drummer, John Bonham, were only 20 yrs old on this album. The recordingng for this album began on Sept 25th, 1968 and oddly, John Bonham passed away exactly 12 years later, on Sept 25th, 1980. It was horrible and immensely sad day. John Bonham could not be replaced - they called it quits.
Each one is & was the GOAT of their craft, & they melded together as one. Live solos of John Bonham Moby Dick, & Jimmy Page live Madison Square Gardens are out of this world.
This is on my shortlist for all-time favorite album. It's certainly the best debut album ever. I mean, these guys were 19-20 years old and did _that_! I mean... EVERY song is an absolute _banger_. I mean... Damn.. Way to make the rest of us feel unaccomplished!
As far as debut rock albums there are some that probably come a very close second, like Black Sabbath, Boston, Van Halen, Guns n Roses, Pearl Jam, Rage Against the Machine... but you're right Zep I, probably the pinnacle.
Saw Page and Plant in St Louis in 98. When tbey did Babe Im Gonna Leave You and it got to the driving part the whole crowd was jumping in unison. Beautiful moment and one of my all time favorite memories
I was about 9 when this came out and my parents forbid me to hear it. They had not heard the band, but were told it was evil! Then my uncle bought Zeppelin II for my dad' birthday, and the music around my house changed dramatically!
there were a lot of bands that can be put into that category. Led Zeppelin, Pink Floyd, Queen, Bee Gees, Black Sabbath, Jethro Tull, the Rolling Stones, Cat Stevens, Jim Croce, Aerosmith, and the list goes on and on. They all had unique voices with songs that were perfect for their voice that no one else could sing them like they did.
You've got to be the close to the same age as my oldest son, he's 28 and only listens to Rap. He's aware of led Zeppelin from me and some of his white friends. I'm Hispanic. I'm sure when he gets older he will start to broaden his horizons. New Sub. Zepp and Pink Floyd are G.O.A.T.S. Peace
John Paul Jones, a constant underlying and immaculate sound holding it all together. John Bonham (aka Bonzo) also part of that thunderous backing groove and rhythm section.
Oh dear God this is bone rattling-- back-up-against-the- wall- take your breath away--turn it up to "11".... heavy blues metal rock your socks off music...my absolute favorite of theirs ❤️
Dazed and Confused is in my top 5 LZ songs. If you want to see true genius...watch their performance of this song live from Madison Square Garden from their movie "The Song Remains the Same". Make sure to do the WHOLE version - it's approximately 25+ minutes, but worth every second. ❤️
G'day from Oz, there where 5 members to this band, add the formidable Peter Grant their manager. There was a time before Peter Grant on how musicians where paid and after Peter Grant. JP is one of the reasons there was an exposion of guitarists in the 70's, 80's and 90's 🎼🎸
ive always been aware of Led Zep but i thought people were going overboard saying they were the best Band ever. Then i heard this and Since ive Been Loving You at msg live. And i totally get it
The How Many More Times live television performance was one of the first times they played live. They had only been together about 6 months at this point. Every live performance is different as they improvise extensively!
Babe I'm going to leave you is one of the best songs by Led Zeppelin. I like how it goes from acoustic guitar to practically metal to soft again. And Robert Plant's vocals... Holy cow.
One of my favorite bands and albums of all time. Some of the songs were not originals but I like their versions of the remakes better than the originals.. that usually does not happen.
Love your reaction to the Mighty Led Zeppelin. Truly my fave band. Love the fact u did the whole album.the band are so talented,Roberts voice is amazing & sultry & when he plays the harmonica oh my. I've been a fan since the very early 70s,still am John ( bonzo) Bonham the drummer is a god of the sticks,& Jimmy on guitar awesome. John Paul Jones ( bass & 🎹 Keyboards) are all superb.
The fact that you’re listening to the whole album opens up the door for me to say this is why us older folks say that today’s music sucks! The knowledge, the ambition, the musicianship, the lyrics that were created, and in most cases, the knowledge that our artist had in the studio and how to work the equipment was part of what created such great music. So, that being said, how can you come from my generation’s music and listen to the low quality effort that is put into today’s music. a lot of today’s artist not all, have no idea of how to put an entire song together never mind an entire album and have no clue as to what all that is in the studio is capable of doing or how to work it. We are spoiled, grateful, immensely proud of the music we grew up with, diehard fans will not except anything less and are relying on the younger generation to keep this great music alive. OK I put in my two cents in. Thanks for reacting to this entire album. Led Zeppelin still the best band ever of the 1970s!😎✌🏻
Agree,90% of modern music is shallow musicly. Record companies just want good looking singers that can do a few dance moves, they don't care if you can't sing live, they'll use backing tracks and some pointless dancers to hide the lack of talent.
I remember when I heard this vinyl for the first time. I wore that record out and the needle too. This is when the phrase “Turn it up to 11” originated. There are a handful of albums that dropped that can be said to have changed music forever. Led Zeppelin I is one of them.
You were awesome, I enjoyed the trip haven't listened to this whole album since the ,70's. First album released in '69 my senior year of high school I was hooked
Plant and Bonham were 20 years old when they recorded LZ1. TWENTY. By the time they were 25 they had recorded LZ1, 2, 3, 4, and Houses of the Holy. Led Zeppelin we’re musically so far and above any band of their time. Proof is it’s 2023 and you’re being absolutely blown away by a record from 1968.
This album was a game changer for those of us who enjoyed our LSD. The audio effects were awesome, the heavy guitar, just far-out. It took psychedelic music to a new level!
First time hearing this album......15 years old.... buy this album/Cassette.... sitting with friends in the sand at the beach Newport O.C. Calif.... passing around 3 bowls and joints.... 300 watts, 15" speakers.... BLEW AWAY EVERYONE FOR A MILE AROUND..... WOW.... Started a huge party with that album, By the end of the album there was over fifty people hangin around... great Memories.
Their first album!!!!! How much talent!!!! So young were the four of them. Madison Square Garden in 73 is the most epic live's concert of Zeppelin, In Earls Court 75 to...And his last big concert in Kneworth...79, before Bonzo Died, and after almost two year that the band don't play cause Robert Plant, the singer, have lost a song 77. Thanks for your very good reaction, I expect see your new reactions
That was a great reaction!! you picked the best way to get the most out of the music, listening to the whole album as they intended it to be heard and then including a live version as well. The violin bow technique you saw on that film is how Page generated the sounds on Dazed and confused so you need to see a live version of that as well, MSG 1973 version if you can find it. This was widely regarded as one of the best first albums ever by any band, it wasn't their only one that year - unlimited range and talent. All four of them are legends. adding Whole lotta love just in case there wasn't enough greatness!! do go back and react to that properly you wouldn't want to miss it. Also the live performance of "i can't quit you baby" at the Royal Albert Hall 1970
Thank you young man. You are exactly whar the young people need today, so they can appreciate where their music came from while acknowledging the greatness of musicianship. A quality that is getting lost in the world of technology. Much respect to you!
There is an early live on TV, Denmark radio 1969. 30 mins long, the kids in that audience don't even know what they are looking at. Led Zeppelin ushered in the 70s from that gig.
The French TV performance is my favorite. A bunch of bewildered French middle-age people who were there for some talkshow. They were sitting there a gate going “what the fuck is this,” except one of the security guards in the back corner went crazy and was dancing like anything.
Well, that was an excellent album reaction. Looking forward to your reaction to album 2. These four guys were individually the best of the best and when they formed as a band, they forever changed the world of rock music. No other band like Zeppelin before or since. Now that you've heard the studio version of Dazed and Confused, and seeing that you really enjoy Page's guitar playing, check out their nearly 30-minute live performance of the song during their 1973 Madison Square Garden concert. Page was on frigging fire. Would love to see your reaction to that as well. Thanks for a posting a great reaction. Edit: Subbed to see where this journey takes you. :)
Put "Led Zeppelin" on the turntable and the opening notes of "Good Times, Bad Times" grabbed me by the balls...and never let go until the end of side two.
If there is a better debut album for a band......it clearly has never seen the light of day. Greatness personified. Enjoy the ride. 7 consecutive platinum albums.....greatest in rock 🪨 history.
Jimmy produced all their albums too!! Robert on the harmonica too!! Yes there's live You Shook Me! In Dazed And Confused Jimmy plays the guitar with a violin bow!
I just recently found you. I dig your style, bro... It's really cool to experience great rock for the "first" time through your eyes and ears. It brings back very wonderful memories for me. I like how you do your research also.
Something people often forget about Led Zeppelin because of the depth of their recordings and performances, is that this was a three piece band with an amazing singer.
Same story with Rush, and I absolutely love watching reactions to their live performances after someone has gotten familiar with their discography a bit cuz they just can't believe/process it without seeing it themselves.
Yeah Jimmy was a well known session musician for years before finding fame with the Yardbirds. He eventually formed the New Yardbirds, which became Led Zeppelin. Every album will blow your mind.
I LOVE YOU❤️ Not many reactors will do a whole ZEP album!! You've got about 100 songs to go.. just scratched the surface...A MIGHTY DEEP RABBIT HOLE 🎶🎶 please do ZEP 4 complete 💯 Bonzo hitting the drums like they stole from him!!
@@cecilkeebler4254 - I had to look him up. Didn’t recognize his name. He does have a comparable voice to Robert Plant. What he didn’t have was Jon Bonham, Jimmy Page, and John Paul Jones.
@@cecilkeebler4254 I think there were many great voices and they all sang songs that highlighted their voices. No one could sing Freddie's songs like Freddie Mercury. The same with Robert Plant, Steve marriott, Barry and Robin Gibb, Simon and Garfunkel, and more. Their voices were unique and perfect for the songs they wrote.
J! Thank you for this! I have not enjoyed Zep1 so much ... since I was your Age! And your youthful enthusiasm is what makes it HIT like it used to do. Thx!
Your reaction to dazed and confused was spot on. It’s so much to take in. That double drum drop gives me chills to this day. When music physically makes you FEEL something. Good stuff.
Yes man! Do the albums, of course, but their live recordings are so tasty! So much improv between all of them, scatting from Plant, riffs and psychedelia from Page, Bonzo absolutely crushing drums, and John Paul Jones holding everything down with his bass and organ. I'm here with ya man.
Cool watching people listening to music we grew up with!❤ Listening for the first time buzzed is the way to go!! Hoping you enjoy LZ as much we Still Do! Music of my life!!✌️
That was an awesome reaction my friend thank you. Check out Led zeppelin live Denmark radio show, they play the full album live and it's a thing to behold, honestly mate the Smash it!
I just love to watch the younger people listen to led zeppelin for the first time. They hear what we heard 50 years ago. Jimmy Page sais we wanted to make music that would stand the length of time. He did! Led zeppelin forever. Saw them in Tampa Florida 1973 and 1977. Best rock n roll band ever❤❤❤
Led zeppelin 2 came out in 1969 as well, so not quite into the '70s yet. ...yes they put out their first two albums in the same year, ...because they came to town to WORK.
Zeppelin almost always jammed on their live versions of their songs so you can react to the studio version and hear a different version live. a great one is dazed and confused which is one song on this album but takes a whole side of an album on the Song remains the same.!!
It's cool to see you enjoying this recording. I was 19 years old at the time. I had the great good fortune to see them in a club type venue in August 1969. They did these songs live and sounded pretty much like what the album sounds like. As someone said in a comment on another video, "It's worth being old now, to have been young then". (also went to Woodstock earlier that month)
I think I heard, it's a legend that it was told to the band it would be like a lead zeppelin. Obviously, an airship (zeppelin) of lead would be so heavy it would crash and burn because lead is so heavy. So I think someone told the band they would be like a lead zeppelin and they went with the name. I actually don't know that much about it for sure, but I believe I heard that was where the name came. I love the one IV ... That album has so much on it!
You’re pretty close. The story is that John Bonham and Keith Moon, the drummer from The Who were out together drinking. John Bonham told Keith Moon about this new band he was in. Moon told him it was going to go down like a lead balloon. John told the rest of the band. The Hindenburg was a Zeppellin, known more commonly as a blimp that burst in to flames while in the air and went down. It is on video. It’s is the greatest mechanical tragedy of it’s time. The band decided on the name Led Zeppelin.
Led Zep are monsters, all 4 members legends in their own right. Go straight into the Led Zeppelin II album man 👌 Also check out more Black Sabbath when you find the time Bro. Another band full of talented members producing naughty grooves!
I’m enjoying your search for background information. Absolutely watch them live! Madison Square Gardens is awesome. Kennedy Center honors is a great live tribute. Enjoy.
I had this album as a teenager and used to listen on the floor under my Grandmothers dining room table with my headphones on full blast. My God it took me away! Dazed and Confused was played over and over. I was good at setting that needle down right where I needed it. A friend just gave me an old turntable and receiver and I've got some old Bose speakers I'm getting ready to start rockin the house! My neighbors are gonna love me!
Thanks!
Thanks for making my Friday night Sir. We layed on the floor between our speakers, so many great times. Only problem was someone had to get up and flip the record over.

Imagine how we felt when we first heard this in 1969! They BURST onto the planet! I'm 63 years old so I have loved them since then!
Yes ! - I'm 62 and feel the same . can't wait for Physical Graffiti
60 here :)
Same! 63 yo here too.
65 here and saw them in concert in 1977, blew me away!
68…..oh yeah
Don't forget the musical genius of bass player / keyboardist John Paul Jones! 👍

Totally agree, also can't think of another group's first album with such a wealth of great songs!

They were kids when they did this and when they released it they BLEW everybody away and changed rock music overnight
They were, are and WILL ALWAYS BE the ultimate rock band..
Led Zeppelin are just gods, so young& simply pure talent, happy days , they will be played forever like Pink Floyd ❤

Hence…now you realize why us old dudes say don’t make music like this anymore! The 60’s and 70’s were the best two decades ever for music! 😎
I couldn't agree more. The talent now I could count on one hand compared to the talent then that would take pages and pages.
Consider that nostalgia for your youth may be limiting your openness to the future.
I was 13 in 1970 and loved so many bands back then. I was a Stones fan HS. I love Zeppelin they are unmatched.
John Paul Jones, a constant underlying and immaculate sound holding it all together. John Bonham (aka Bonzo) also part of that thunderous backing groove and rhythm section.

Well Robert did play a mean harmonica
Four piece band😉
@@johnvaillancourt4168Well in his defense, Jones was often overlooked 😆
Great reaction man. Can't wait for Zep II.
Peace
Yeah Jimmy was a well known session musician for years before finding fame with the Yardbirds. He eventually formed the New Yardbirds, which became Led Zeppelin. Every album will blow your mind.
I LOVE YOU❤️ Not many reactors will do a whole ZEP album!! You've got about 100 songs to go.. just scratched the surface...A MIGHTY DEEP RABBIT HOLE 🎶🎶 please do ZEP 4 complete 💯 Bonzo hitting the drums like they stole from him!!
This came out when I was 18. No one ever heard a voice like Robert Plant.
Steve Marriott would beg to differ
@@cecilkeebler4254 - I had to look him up. Didn’t recognize his name. He does have a comparable voice to Robert Plant. What he didn’t have was Jon Bonham, Jimmy Page, and John Paul Jones.
We the same age, I agree, Sweet memories, sweet music 🎶 x keep Rocking
@@cecilkeebler4254 I think there were many great voices and they all sang songs that highlighted their voices. No one could sing Freddie's songs like Freddie Mercury. The same with Robert Plant, Steve marriott, Barry and Robin Gibb, Simon and Garfunkel, and more. Their voices were unique and perfect for the songs they wrote.
J! Thank you for this! I have not enjoyed Zep1 so much ... since I was your Age! And your youthful enthusiasm is what makes it HIT like it used to do. Thx!
Awesome reaction, each song is more of an experience than just a tune.
Stairway to heaven The most requested song every year on the radio for 50 years
That was a magical group that was unreal ... Jimmy Page played from a place that is just hard to comprehend ... Thanks for sharing ..
First concert i ever to in 1970 at The Forum in Inglewood California
Your reaction to dazed and confused was spot on. It’s so much to take in. That double drum drop gives me chills to this day. When music physically makes you FEEL something. Good stuff.
you listening to the FIRST and WHOLE album is really really appreciated man
SUBSCRIBED. Yes go in order of when they came out. Zep Head for 50+ years and listen to them almost daily.
👍❤🤙
So glad you loved the album!!
You will truly enjoy each album, their creative style is untouched!!!💯😎
Yes man! Do the albums, of course, but their live recordings are so tasty! So much improv between all of them, scatting from Plant, riffs and psychedelia from Page, Bonzo absolutely crushing drums, and John Paul Jones holding everything down with his bass and organ. I'm here with ya man.
Cool watching people listening to music we grew up with!❤
Listening for the first time buzzed is the way to go!!
Hoping you enjoy LZ as much we Still Do! Music of my life!!✌️
Robert Plant has many great solo albums and collaborations with multi-genre styles starting in the 1980s definitely worth checking out
That was an awesome reaction my friend thank you.
Check out Led zeppelin live Denmark radio show, they play the full album live and it's a thing to behold, honestly mate the Smash it!
This is real F---ing music ain't nothing like it anymore. Pure genius 👍😎✌️❤️
Raw, dirty, savage, emotive rock and roll music, Led Zeppelin set a standard from the word go
My fav album ever and BEST debut album from any band
Let's go led heads.
@@charliejonas4609 yep you're right!
Enjoy.
Don't forget to remind yourself that this was 1969 !
This has to be in everyone's vinyl collection....Has to be!!!
Crazy you say that I just picked this album out this past weekend 🔥🔥
One of the best band intro songs of all time.
Awesome reaction video!! Thank you.
All members of that band are legends.
