You said it! This is one of my very favorite Led Zep songs. Bonzo is attacking the drum kit, Robert is wailing, Jimmy is violin bowing. I love the part in the middle where they switch to "The Hunter". Robert's vocal when he screams "gun" at the end is out of this world. This song is right up there with Dazed and Confused and Whole Lotta Love IMO!
Now you know how I felt like growing up with this amazing music. I'm 64 and it sounds just as good now as it did back then. Kickass music. There will never be another led zeppelin, Beatles, stones, acdc or pink floyd but the music is eternal
Sadly : This will never happen again, absolutely. The only thing we can do is pass it off to peeps like our sister here, and hope they coddle it like we always have. And I have Faith.
John Bohnham is technically still learning in this album. CRAZY..... That is how great he was he still so young here playing like a professor of percussion
On their first American tour in late '68/early '69, Led Zeppelin was the opening act for Iron Butterfly. This song was their closing number. There's nothing like destroying the headliner act.
@@peterbulloch4328 I WAS THERE AND BLOWN AWAY. IRON BETTERFLY CAME ON AFTER ZEP AND MESSED UP REALLY BAD. YOU COULD TELL THEY KNEW COMPARED TO ZEPPELIN THEY WERE A GARAGE BAND. IT WAS A NEW TIME FOR ROCK AGAIN, LIKE CREAM AND HENDRIX AND JEFF BECK.

Led Zeppelin is from England but always loved American blues, jazz, rock . I think that’s why they appeal to so many.

Ok Girl, I know you did this react a while ago. I've been listening to this album for 45 years. My cousin gave it to me in a box of albums in 74 I was only 10. Seeing your reaction I have enjoyed (again) this song a lot!. (A song that I have listened one million of times more or less...) You made me move my head and play drums with the pencils I had on the table . Thanks :)

Check out Lovebites and Band Maid from Japan. Two bands that sound better live. Jimmy Page told the drummer from BM that she reminded him of Bonham. Nothing as good as Zepplin but closer than American autotune...

"...once you've reached a certain level, there's no more excuses...". Never a truer word said. Funnily enough and conversely, many good bands back in the day fell by the wayside because they couldn't transfer the energy and excitement they generated live, on to vinyl. A living was made from vinyl sales, not live performing, unless you were filling stadiums, which is different to today too, I believe. Many others didn't break until they released a live album. Zep were lucky in one way in that Jimmy Page had been a very in-demand session musician and so knew how to get it down on vinyl, and of course, who he needed to help him do that. I've enjoyed so many of your reactions, but have not commented before. You can see you're a muso from the way you pick up on little things and can switch from instrument to instrument. One of my favourite reaction videos. You clearly loved this record. And it's one that rarely gets mentioned as among their best. And you're right: advances in technology are as important now as they were in the 60s and 70s - perhaps more so today, with regard to democratising access. But ideas come from people, not machines. So much of Zep is based on the great Blues guitarists/singers of the old South. Blind Lemon. Ledbelly. R Johnson. Before even rock n roll was a thing on the radio. This is one of them brought writhing and moaning and shaking its ass into modern daylight.
You answered your own question by listening to this song.. by these great musicians who spent hundreds of hours improving.. not only their talent, but their genius and passion as well! Love Your Grit Girl!
Currently at my childhood home, helping my 90-something parents. Just realized I am listening to this, turned up to 11, in the same room where I first heard it in 1973. Some things don't change. Zeppelin.
I'm an semi-olden dude now but I felt the same, total goosebumpage, when I first heard this song in the early 80s. Then I learned John Bonham had died a few years before and I'd never see them live. That was a sad but glad moment. Google the isolated drum track. Its mesmerizinging. Bomham was the shit. He just oozed an instinctive feel that was irreplaceable, RIP John Henry Bonham. Thanks for the gifts you gave us all.
Been seeing ur reaction to ZEP !! I know that feeling of the music roaming AND bouncing around ur skull!!!! I felt that ever since I 1st heard them back in 68 !!!!!
I was jamming right along with you, so much fun. Zeppelin is greatness all to it. Unfortunately today's music is basically to computerized no human feel to it at just cold sounding.
My brother brought this home one fine day in 1968. Then we knew the Brits knew more. Mssrs Plant, Pagey, Bonzo and Johnny Paul - yep. Zep, say it again. I invented your dance style, by the way, in 1975, spreading out from West Hollywood. I'm 69, 109 pounds, 5'9" and if you come to Hollywood I will introduce the guy who danced with Funkadelic one fine night on Sunset at the Whiskey Au Go Go, 1974. By 1975 I had invented the original Napoleon Dynamite style and so moved on to the I Don't Care, Much Anymore - starts out torch style and turns into a Zep styled no apologies given Jimmy. So in the early 90s I hear about a dance style and I said out loud "no way". Zep was there with the Houses of the Holy when I started dancing so they are DNA prominent. The first album blew our stupifd minds and isn't that a Howlin' Wolf line??? Oh well, it's Zep, bra. Even Island People get Zep. Kidding. You should see the log drumming that goes on till the dawn's early light. Oh, yes, the Island people have been doing the gods of thunder act for a very long time, go figure. Everything comes from something, surprize and the sources are infinite. Yes I invented the "K" dance style in 1975 and I am alive all you jive turkeys. I'll show you, in Hollywood, my ipod, anytime. (that means that I will demonstrate a much less athletic style the origins) and yes, I will dance for you so film it knuckleheads. "Hey, this guy invented "k*******" in 1975". Your dance gets Zep so thanx I knew that the newTube would find you. I'm not even doing da mattz on 1968. Like, 54 years? That's a lottaZep, for better and for worse.
My favorite Led Zeppelin song, too. Glad you did a reaction. Regarding your question, Rick Beato did a good video on how the “grid” ruined pop music. Finally, Zepp produces all that music with only a three-piece. That’s not a big band at all
Greatest rock band. And raw talent. No pro tools. And live instruments beat technology any day. And this is 50 years ago. Technology made more accessible but less artistically talented.
I have to agree with you about the technology aspect in music. I'm 68 and as a kid growing up, I had to work almost a year to get my first guitar. Today it is easier, although many kids can't afford their own computers, and in some aspects, the technology may be more expensive than the instrument. I also agree that the technology has hurt the musician and her/his ability to master the instrument. J. Page became a master of his instrument by trying many different sounds on it. He also practiced for thousands of hours and was blessed with incredible talent. He also had dedication and desire to become the best he could be. I think technology lets a musician down today because they can now just be good enough and the technology will fill in the rest of it. They now lack the dedication and desire to master their craft. This also goes for voice artists as well. As JerrBear74 states below, "It seems now a days everyone is commercialized in their music and its more about the money and not from the heart towards fans." BTW I love watching you react to these ancient pieces of music (classics). This question is both insightful and not easy to answer. I had to think about it for sometime. Thanks for that as well! Your answer to this question too, gave me much to consider and changed how I was immediately going to respond. I learned something from you and that was cool! Never too old to learn. Thanks again for everything you do here!!!!
In my opine, this is Led Zeppelin's bestest song. Which automatically makes it one of the greatest songs of all times. LATERALUS by TOOL just edges it in terms of epicness. Is epicness even a word? I dunno, but y'all know what I mean.
Grade A You didn`t screw it up with pauses. Waited to the end to talk, excellent. 50+ years and NEVER gets old. You will find LZ has many women relation songs, blues influenced foe sure. What a debut album! Back in the day when this album came out AM radio wouldn`t play it. Any song over 3 min. they wouldn`t play. I grew up here in the bay area so I had FM radio (stereo too!) that played the tracks off the album. What a time to be 16. Man walks on the moon, mini skirts, and all the BEST rock bands playing here in the bay area. Saw them in 69-70 at Winterland SF and `77 Day on the Green Oakland ballpark. Amazing in concert, never played the songs like the album, longer and AWESOME!
This is my favorite Zeppelin song too! That whole first album just blew me away the first time I heard it… and actually, I didn’t own the album. It was a cassette tape, which I listened to over and over in my car…. How Many More Times is actually one of the best songs for driving… I probably feel that way because the first time I heard was on the road… So there’s that… and the louder the better…. It gets me every time. To answer your question: Technology has helped music… no question about it….
The record sleeve stated this track as being 3:30 long when in fact it was 8:30. That was to get radio stations to play it, they would not have done if they knew it was 8:30!
I love watching the sisters and brothers digging on the rock and roll from the 70s. Yes so open minded it wasn't like that when it was happening. Swoop swoop Oh baby rock rock.
I know you won't ever see this comment cuz this vid is so old, but what might blow your mind is that drummer John Bonham got his first drum kit just 4 years before recording this album. He got his first kit at age 15 and was 19 when this album was recorded. GOAT
This song is so underrated it’s ridiculous , it completes there 1st album
You said it! This is one of my very favorite Led Zep songs. Bonzo is attacking the drum kit, Robert is wailing, Jimmy is violin bowing. That shuffle right before they go into The Hunter...what a great drum lick that is...so much swing....
They were, are and WILL ALWAYS BE the ultimate rock band.

hands down my favorite led zep song. this spawned the saying; "GET THE LED OUT"
Led Zep’s first two albums cant be touched.

Jimmy Page used the Yardbird Telecaster for this whole album, played thru a small 12" speaker cabinet & still got that monster tone.

Your answer to this question too, gave me much to consider and changed how I was immediately going to respond. I learned something from you and that was cool! Never too old to learn. Thanks again for everything you do here!!!!
Epic early rock for a 21st century chick. Well done!
Giiiiiiiirl! You're so beautiful, and I super appreciate you rockin out to this.
at 5:19 she's hearing Jimi Page playing the guitar with a violin bow for the first time.
Jesus! Did you just wake up! Lol!😘
In my opine, this is Led Zeppelin's bestest song. Which automatically makes it one of the greatest songs of all times. LATERALUS by TOOL just edges it in terms of epicness. Is epicness even a word? I dunno, but y'all know what I mean.
Always love you. I've started playing in bass since 16. You can tell a music lover. Plus you have the feeling. You kick but
Hey, Scribe. You're the best! Happy 2021.
One of the first original gangster Headbanger joints. Awesome reaction, 409.
I take it you like the song? lol. Your reaction just about sums it up.
One of my favorites from the mighty Led Zep too. Love your energy.
It ain’t what it is or isn’t. It’s what you can do with what you got. I have heard incredible creativity with and without tech, and I love it all.
Grade A You didn`t screw it up with pauses. Waited to the end to talk, excellent. 50+ years and NEVER gets old.
You will find LZ has many women relation songs, blues influenced foe sure. What a debut album! Back in the day
when this album came out AM radio wouldn`t play it. Any song over 3 min. they wouldn`t play. I grew up here in the
bay area so I had FM radio (stereo too!) that played the tracks off the album. What a time to be 16. Man walks on
the moon, mini skirts, and all the BEST rock bands playing here in the bay area. Saw them in 69-70 at Winterland
SF and `77 Day on the Green Oakland ballpark. Amazing in concert, never played the songs like the album, longer and AWESOME!
This is based on Howlin' Wolf's song HOW MANY MORE YEARS . Some of Page's best playing is right here .
my God, you look like you just gave birth with that reaction, awsome
Love all the way from England.
Best debut album of all time ❤❤❤
I love watching the sisters and brothers digging on the rock and roll from the 70s.
GOAT
