Lex nails it as usual, Lol!! Led Zeppelin were fueled by such explosive energy..The footage from Madison Square Gardens 1973, captures the incredible spontaneous connection they had in a live setting. I think Robert described the Zep experience, comparing it to a wild horse. The horse was just running madly out of control and they felt like they were just desperately hanging on, trying not to fall off!, Lol... Consider that they had only been together for a few months before recording this. They were just taking the Delta Blues of Willie Dixon and Big Joe Turner and cranking it up to 11 and jamming on it.... Side note: I think you two are the coolest, most lovable couple I have ever seen!! I love Brad's critical mind and Lex's uncanny insights, it is a perfect balance, even when you disagree!!♡♡
When I first heard this song in '69 I rushed to the W.T. Grants department store to buy the album. I was blown away. I was 16 years old, and heard the band was coming to town so I bought my ticket. It was the very first Led Zeppellin concert in Florida, and they played at an amusement park called Prates World in Fort Lauderdale. All of the dark guitar areas in this song was done by Jimmy Page using a violin bow. W.t. Grants, and Pirates World are long gone, but that concert is still in my memory, and I'm now 70 years old. ROCK ON.
I saw them live twice. They definitely were a "jam band". It often seemed as if they didn't know their own songs. While I absolutely love Led Zeppelin, they are definitely best served studio.
Wow, Lex gets it, yes Led Zeppelin is a live experience, not even video is the same , that is one reason there is so little footage of the band, they said you want to see us it is live, plus good marketing, you can't catch live on the TV.
Live for me would be MSG 1973 or Royal Albert Hall 1970 or Earl's Court in the mid 70s, any of those shows is mind blowing as are many of the sound board recordings that leaked out over time, we would have killed for those bootlegs back in the day. 3+ hours was a common set for them and often in fro t of packed stadiums. Simply the best.
Lex, there is a lot of well produced bootlegs of all the years of Zeppelin on You Tube re-mastered by some serious fans. Mind you, some of these boots have been around since the day bc of how popular LZ was live. And they did a lot of dates, primarily in the US. Great concert venues. A personal favorite is from the Fillmore West in SF in April 1969. The best and most exotic 'How Many More Times' I've ever heard. The show also exhibits a nice cover they had stopped doing early and a different song intro/outro for Bonham's drum solo. Thank you again!
I saw Led Zeppelin live at Maple Leaf Gardens in Toronto, September of 1971. I was 14 years old. Of course, they were rocking hard and they also introduced some new tunes from what was to be Led Zeppelin 4 that came out later that year. That show was unforgettable.
Tahoochi 0 seconds ago Just saw your reaction now from 3 months ago. You talked about “organized chaos”, well I thought of a roller coaster... it takes you up, down, left, right, upside down and right side up, but you know you’re safe, and in the end it brings it all together and takes you back home. That’s what Zeppelin is to me. Love your reactions, Brad, relax when you listen to Zeppelin, Lex, LOVE your perception of Zeppelin!
Although I can see Lex' point about being able to experience Zeppelin live they're music is for me generally best appreciated in the context of the album as a whole, Back in the day you'd sit and listen to an entire album which in the case of Zeppelin in particular - just took you on a trip - often aided with a 'little something'. ;-) Anyway, if you haven't seen it yet - check out Dazed and Confused performed live at Madison Square Garden in 1973. I've heard people say Jimmy was 'possessed' that night and I can't disagree, that performance is jaw dropping. I'd love to see you guys react to this one. It just never gets old. Btw Brad, Robert Eggplant had me in stiches LOL!
This song is an illustration of "they don't make music like this anymore", pure talent and creative work! Excellent choice, much love Brad and Lex! ✌️ ☮️ 🎵🎶🎼🎸
Actually Lex, the thing about Zeppelin is that their live performances were very different from their studio versions. Jimmy Page used the studio to its fullest extent, creating awesome multi-track masterpieces, often with a good deal of subtlety. It's impossible to re-create that live with four guys. So instead, they didn't try to re-create the studio versions, they created arrangements for live, and pretty much just rocked the bloody hell out of it! So, after you've heard the studio versions, you can then listen to the really good live recordings, and have a whole new experience... which is cool. 😎🎱
I agree with TekToniks Architects - you should watch the live version from 1969 titled 'Danmarks Radio Show' - it's a great live performance - and think about the young people sitting just a few feet away from the band - unaware that this young band in front of them would soon become the uncontested gods of rock n roll. Thanks for your reaction - i loved it.
Indeed, they were wonderful live. I especially enjoyed the concert in Golden Gate Park at Kezar Stadium on June 2, 1973, in San Francisco. What a magical day that was, it is on the top of my list of best concerts that I went to along with Pink Floyd and the Moody Blues.

All of the dark guitar areas in this song was done by Jimmy Page using a violin bow. W.t. Grants, and Pirates World are long gone, but that concert is still in my memory, and I'm now 70 years old. ROCK ON.
John Bonham just being god like on the drums, as always...
I saw them live twice. They definitely were a "jam band". It often seemed as if they didn't know their own songs. While I absolutely love Led Zeppelin, they are definitely best served studio.
One of my fav Zep tunes! Great choice!
Brad's thinking, "How many more times... I have to listen to Led Zeppelin?" 😆

Led Zeppelin - Babe I'm Gonna Leave You
🎸🤘
This is their best track among many other great tracks
One of my favorite Zeppelin songs.
You two are awesome, never change
I saw Led Zeppelin live at Maple Leaf Gardens in Toronto, September of 1971. I was 14 years old. Of course, they were rocking hard and they also introduced some new tunes from what was to be Led Zeppelin 4 that came out later that year. That show was unforgettable.
When I listen to Led Zeppelin , So do my Neighbors🤘🏻
I saw Page and Plant perform this in 98 live! One of the bigger thrills in my life!!
I seen Page and Plant in 95 and 98 aa well . Best concerts ever !
This live was magnificent!
The beginning bass to this song is second to none, i can listen to this bass line over and over again and it leaves me wanting more!
This song is so epic and amazing ... and just insane. And so damn cool.
Zeppelin is the soundtrack of my life.
Absolute banger - Cannot play it loud enough in the convertible - love sharing it at a light 😊👌

Just saw your reaction now from 3 months ago.
This song is an emotional experience to listen to.
The video of them singing this in 1969 is a must
Although I can see Lex' point about being able to experience Zeppelin live they're music is for me generally best appreciated in the context of the album as a whole, Back in the day you'd sit and listen to an entire album which in the case of Zeppelin in particular - just took you on a trip - often aided with a 'little something'. ;-)
Anyway, if you haven't seen it yet - check out Dazed and Confused performed live at Madison Square Garden in 1973. I've heard people say Jimmy was 'possessed' that night and I can't disagree, that performance is jaw dropping. I'd love to see you guys react to this one. It just never gets old.
Btw Brad, Robert Eggplant had me in stiches LOL!
Don't forget Pink Floyd!
Thanks for doing more Led Zeppelin! My favorite classic rock and roll band EVER! So much talent and genius! Timeless!
This song is an illustration of "they don't make music like this anymore", pure talent and creative work! Excellent choice, much love Brad and Lex! ✌️ ☮️ 🎵🎶🎼🎸
I'd like to introduce you to the band SVVAMP. They do make this music still, and its just as good. Also KADAVAR will make your eardrums home sick
@@tobiashoyden2644 Thanks for offering an old dog some new tricks, lol. I'll give them a listen, appreciate you
After listening to this track , I always felt as if I had run a marathon. 🎸🤘🔥
Ah, well, I just got finished posting a comment that is pretty identical to this one.
" you don't listen to Zeppelin...Zepplein Listens to you....' right girl...thats it exactly....
REACT TO: Led Zeppelin's - Tangerine, That's the way, Down by the sea side, In the light and No quarter
No Quarter for sure. Heavy AND trippy
Best band ever!
