BOOM , mind blown ! Love watching you experience this Tara, this had the same same effect on me and most i feel, and i had heard the original first , so it had an extra bang to it, like hearing another song altogether ! Just a whole other time for music, musicians, and live performance ! Peace n love from down under 😎🤘
Just to clarify the metal thing Led Zep never regarded themselves as a metal band. Heavy metal came afterwards and was influenced by LZ but only limited elements of it. This band is far more versatile and don't like to be pigeon holed. If you do more led zep they will constantly suprise and delight you, with rock , folk, blues funkiness and even reggae. The instrumentation is always wonderful , i think you will probably enjoy the tracks that feature JPJ on organ eg your time is gonna come and Thankyou. There is also the marvellous stripped back acoustic set, including the tracks thats the way and going to California. Plant and Page are extremely skilfull at dueting with each other, they take it in turns as to who calls and who answers. You will also hear duetting between Bonham and JPJ. They have so much fun on stage and so then the audience also does. There is an excellent live performance of I can't quit you babe at the Albert Hall London from 1970. But probably where you should go first is Stairway to Heaven, live at MSG 1973 which is a virtuoso performance.
Brilliant!! Their live performances show their true virtuosity. Where the live performances lose the ideal acoustics, it is a platform for their creativity. I always prefer their live performances
Made me want to go back and listen to more LedZep, so no bad thing. So many of us Brits in the pre-internet analog days went deep into their influences and created unique music. How many bands today have this level of ability? Especially vocally. Progress in music is by no means assured. Thanks for the deep dive, Tara.
Drooling over Plant and Page's immense talent and mesmerizing music at the same time as being completely gobsmacked by their hotness is precisely the way to enjoy Zeppelin if you ask me, so welcome to that. :)
nice reaction i saw led zeppelin 21 times and they played this song every time and it is one of my favorite songs by them!!!! the greatest rock band ever period...
On reflection, and I've watched this a few times now, this has been one of the most enjoyable reactions I've come across. Well done - Very professional and very informative.
I love the way you broke down and analysed the song so expertly, and totally on the fly ! Led Zeppelin were an amazing band, and have a totally die-hard fan base. We are all completely addicted to their heavy blues-rock style. Good to see the fan club just increased by one today ! (I’m having difficulty believing you’ve only just discovered them, though)😊
That's the beauty of led zeppelin none of there songs are alike master musicians for sure and Robert just the way he intertwined his vocals with the band pure magic best band ever period.
Great reaction. My favorite band of all time. I am so glad I got to see Robert and Allison in concert recently near Dallas. It was cool that they did some Zeppelin songs. He was actually in the record shop in Dallas looking for his albums lol.
Great analysis, Tara! Led Zeppelin, like many of the British bands of the '60s & '70s, was heavily influenced by the blues. Many of them actually saw themselves as blues artists, and they proceeded to imprint the signature of the blues onto hard rock for all time. This performance was insane, and Robert Plant's vocals are one of a kind. Their body of work is immense and continues to inspire musicians to this day. For another intensely creative blues performance based on a genre classic, you should react to Angelina Jordan's recording studio performance of her own arrangement of I Put A Spell On You, recorded when she was 9. It'll make you doubt your sanity. Here's the link: ua-cam.com/video/nwFloCPXzCs/v-deo.html
capstan50g Thanks so much for turning me on to Angelina Jordan. How I didn't know about her, I'll never know. But you are correct, Tara needs to hear her if she hasn't already, as it feels like a privilege to listen to her sing. She has talent that can't be learned.
@@willcordelo9582 I couldn't agree more, Will! Tara has reacted to other Angelina performances, but the black & white video of I Put A Spell On You is Angelina Unleashed. Everyone needs to hear it!
The whole performance is amazing but that intro....wow... the random noise from Pages guitar... its the chaos of the cosmos from which he pulls pure lyrical liquid melody. And then Plant comes in..Gives me the chills. Makes me believe in the soul
The thing is, Robert Plant doesn't think in terms of all that technique and analysis, at all. He just does it. It's pure emotion and grit, and just belting out blues licks with incredible imaginative originality and energy. Singers today will analyze this to death but will never achieve that greatness and depth that Plant achieved. It might be good, but it won't be great. Singers trying to be technically masterful miss the fact that Led Zeppelin surfed over the improvisational wave in a sloppy, raw and exploratory improvisation, not afraid to crash. They are free, and because they are, their music is much more depthful. Much of today's music misses that entirely.
This is the first video I see in your channel. I love when you reproduce the sound. You have the right words to describe this beautiful song. The only way I had to describe this one of my most favorites songs of LZ was HYPNOTHIC..
Greatest Rock n Roll band Ever! Wasn't even close! It's offensive when I hear people put the stones in the same breath! Page had no equal when it came to originality and style!
People often speak of how "sloppy" Jimmy was in performance. I always suggest that he is the master of improv and that you can't compare the original album to live. They're two different animals. I do want to respect the way you understand Robert's vocal abilities.
What to say about Led Zeppelin, well, it was like having together on the same stage, in the same environment, in the same band Michelangelo, Da Vinci, Picasso and Salvador Dali. Masters at their craft. Best live band ever. Gods of rock.
Tara loved your commentary and breakdown of this great LZ song. Especially loved your analysis of Plant’s singing. LZ were four supremely talented musicians who also had great feel, cohesiveness and spontaneity when they played live concerts. Because they were so in sync with each other musically they could improvise more and yet always come back to the scripted song. Saw JPJ interviewed once and he said two things that really impressed me. One, when they were playing live concerts he never wanted to be the one who let the other guys down. The bar was set very high and you were challenged every night to play your best to keep up with the other three guys. Two, all of them were very good at listening to each other and responding instinctively to what the others were playing.
Very interesting and professional reaction! Zep were 4 super professional artist that before been Zep were individually already great talented musicians playing jam sessions and music with several famous artists. That’s probably why they were capable of such incredible live performances. And Robert voice was unique and perfectly mastered.
As one who found your channel as a result of the pandemic and jumping over the wall of the very limited talent of the American pop music world, into the unbelievably talented world of European rock and metal musicians, and watching and learning from your expert breakdowns of bands such as Epica and Nightwish, seeing you now go back to my childhood of bands like Led Zeppelin! Bring it on - this was awesome! And so were they!! The band that every rock and metal band since has emulated and tried to live up to!
That was a masterful reaction Tara and your voice girl. ❤ Sooo... now the iconic signature Stairway To Heaven from the same concert.🙏By the way the English invasion of the 60's 70's introduced white America to the Blues fused through hardrock, which then morphed into heavy metal.

They could do any genre. But I love when they do more bluesy numbers. Such an amazing band. This is about 50 years ago and people are still stunned and amazed by there music.
This performance was during a very tough year for plant. His high range was pretty much lost by the end of the year before and he was kinda struggling in this tour. I suggest you do some stuff from royal Albert hall to see his peak
@@Nichwar19 1970 was his peak during the time recording Led Zeppelin iv. 71 was good but short lived, he couldn’t hit the notes in stairway or black dog towards the mid and end of the year.
Here is a quote from Mr Jones "i have always maintained that Zeppelin was the spaces between us. Bonzo was into soul music and Mowtown Ballads; i was into jazz and classical music; Jimmy was into rockabilly, blues and folk; and Robert was into blues and Elvis Preley. None of had the same record collection. Nobody outside of the band could understand this."
I am new to your channel. Tara , you really know vocals and music so well. I always been a Zep fan, but the way you analyzed them, I have so much more appreciation for their cohesiveness and artistic abilities.

I love it when a reactor understands and can pick out all the amazing things Robert Plant does with his voice. He's 74 now and he still has that amazing head of hair. :D They have songs that are completely different from this one.
I've been listening to Led Zeppelin for most of my life at this point. I was about 12 or 13 when I saw The Song Remains The Same for the first time on VH1 when they used to show movies on there. Before that I had learned most of their music from just listening or music books. But seeing one of their performances live......I was blown away. I can still listen to this particular song over and over and just enjoy it so much. Listening to live Zeppelin is so much different than just hearing them on the radio. Their manager wanted more people to see them live because their live show was, hands down, one of the best acts ever at the time. The sheer talent and musicianship is just mind blowing.
There's two recordings of this song on different nights of the same concert and the other one is a lot better, not only for vocals but guitar playing but unfortunately people keep choosing this version. It's too bad too especially for vocal reactions. I mean this one is good....but the other one is an absolute masterpiece.
Initially I felt the same way, but one has to keep in mind that the other version is a different mastering (from the 2003 Led Zeppelin DVD; this one is from The Song Remains the Same, original video version I believe). The two actually share a lot of the exact same bits, but the other version has a bit of added compression, sharper EQ, and I believe a very small dash of added reverb to smooth things out a bit. The main difference is the first minute or two - some bits of Page's intro solo are slightly different, and with the other version Plant comes in at the end of Page's intro solo's final note, as opposed to this version where there's a brief pause between the end of Page's note and Plant coming in. The more I listen to both, the more I like them equally - although I do agree that the other version is better from a sonic perspective.
I grew up on The Song Remains The Same movie from 84 to 96 i must have watched it once a week to learn all the guitar parts...this is not the version it had on it...

A true master class in performance in every way ! 4 guy's who just go with the flow in a different way
every night ! Going by pure feeling and running with it, coming back when they just know the time is right.
A magic experience on and off stage ! Just imagine being in the crowd, even just for this song !
....... BOOM , mind blown !
Love watching you experience this Tara, this had the same same effect on me and most i feel, and i had heard the original first , so
it had an extra bang to it, like hearing another song altogether !
Led Zeppelin was a multidimensional band..they mastered everything
Led Zeppelin is the original blues rock band. Thanks for a great reaction.
Finally someone who understands about real music... Congratulations Tara!
On reflection, and I've watched this a few times now, this has been one of the most enjoyable reactions I've come across. Well done - Very professional and very informative.
Thank u. I appreciate that very much
I love the way you broke down and analysed the song so expertly, and totally on the fly !
Plus, this is just 1 song out of an entire concert, the energy & stamina required to be a performer is next level!
Loved the reaction you gave Tara I ve been listening to these guys since 1968 , they were masters of the blues every one of them outstanding musicians
Don’t forget that the Bonham and Jones backup were phenomenal
Love to see you do more of Zeppelin, especially from this concert. that was enjoyable!

Thanks so much for turning me on to Angelina Jordan.
Masters at their craft. No band will ever have that sound or feel! Listening to that song for the 1000th time I still say wow
Nailed it
Led Zeppelin played such a variety of musical styles
Saw them play this song twice in concert. Their first album and part of their second one is very bluesy.
My favorite performance of The Song Remains Same concert.
In the video it goes from The Song remains the same to The Rain Song is amazing
He’s also pretty kickass on the harmonica! 🔥
Compare Robert Plant to Janis Joplin, come to think of it there is some interesting comparison! Love Your reaction!🥰
And Robert voice was unique and perfectly mastered.
brilliant! I've heard this song a milllion times and your break down of the song made it a new experience for me. TY
Wow, that’s awesome! Thank u ☺️
Led Zeppelin were a living breathing homage to the Blues..and I'm glad that you are here for it 😀
That was a masterful reaction Tara and your voice girl. ❤ Sooo... now the iconic signature Stairway To Heaven from the same concert.🙏By the way the English invasion of the 60's 70's introduced white America to the Blues fused through hardrock, which then morphed into heavy metal.
This reaction made me subscribe. Excited to check out more of you Miss! The Janis comment, undulating, and Jimmy love. Sold. 😊 Now do 70's era Yes please. Lol
What an extremely educational and enjoyable review of this performance. Thank you.
Albert Hall isnt his peak to be honest but it is a good show.
@@Nichwar19 1970 was his peak during the time recording Led Zeppelin iv. 71 was good but short lived, he couldn’t hit the notes in stairway or black dog towards the mid and end of the year.
@@digiorno1142 i know 70 was his best but there were much better shows than albert hall.
@@Nichwar19 would have to agree there
@@Nichwar19 true he was weak at that show. If only they had proshot oakland 70 instead of shutting the offer down.
Led Zeppelin is a multi faceted rock band that sings blues, jazz and psychedelic plus rock
Saw this band live in 1970 and over fifty years later and still enjoying listening to them Their music is still relevant today as it was back in 70s
once you fall into the Zeppelin rabbit hole there is no turning Back
I am new to your channel. Tara , you really know vocals and music so well. I always been a Zep fan, but the way you analyzed them, I have so much more appreciation for their cohesiveness and artistic abilities.
I was inspired to get out my copy of Led Zeppelin the BBC Sessions. Well I'm glad I did. Recorded in 1969 for BBC radio programs, this is as good as it gets. These performances are absolutely explosive. This is a band at their absolute peak. Page's guitar solos are endlessly creative. Whew! Plant even blows some harp and John Paul Jones plays keyboards.🎼🎸🎸🥁🥁
My favorite performance of my favorite song ever. Such a masterclass performance from four complete masters of their instruments.
Love your analysis. Still get chills down my spine whenever I hear this song!
Plant said that his vocal performance of The Rain Song at the same concert was his best ever.
When, where did he said that?
I heard that too.
Best band ever...best singer, best guitarist, best drummer, best bass/keyboard/rhythym player ever....
Led Zeppelin is the greatest band of all time
Excellent reaction and analysis. You break things down very well for those who don't have any professional musical knowledge. Cheers.🇨🇦🔥🔥🔥🔥🥇🎯👍🌟💖
Great reaction! Sometime you gain a new appreciation for something you’ve loved all of your life when you see it through someone else’s eyes. More Zep!
Love your reaction and commentary, superb.
please do more Zepplin. You will be amazed
Robert is a masterclass for all singers 🥰🥰
I love the way you figured out /captured that they are four limbs of the body.
JPJ was the Swiss Army Knife of Zep. I guess you could say he had 6 toes
This was one helluva reaction! I grew up on this and you come along and give me fresh vibes and cause me to fall even deeper in love with it. Thanks for this🙏👍
One of my fave live performances ever ❤
In my humble opinion, Jimmy Page never got the notoriety that he deserved for his awesome guitar skills
Literally the archetype of the guitar god
This reaction, it's the best I ever 👀, BRAVO. It's beautiful to listen to someone who knows what you are talking about
not charlatans, who acting like they know.
