Let's be honest here, Silus was a simp for the Mythic Dawn, he wasn't a follower of the real Dagon. Here's my take of the whole exchange there: I imagine Dagon would look down on the idea of a museum displaying mythic dawn paraphernalia. What Silus says is telling, for a moment his ancestor held the fate of the world in their hands. It isn't really about Dagon for him I think. It doesn't really matter what Silus planned to do with the Razor, if Dagon thought Silus would display it in his museum... Dagon would much rather his artifact be used to create a 'real' display of what he represents; destruction, which is why he doesn't want to give it to Silus. Silus lacks the ambition to wield it; he attempts to bribe you to get you to not kill him. He was never a pawn, he was a test to see if you were worthy to wield it. Great video, by the way!

Although Dagon is fascinating, I have no idea why you’d worship him. The cons definitely outweigh the pros. Unrelated, but the end fight of the Blackwood chapter in ESO was AMAZING! Racing through the keep while Dagon’s huge hands were punching into the walls and snatching people away- it was scary af. The ESO team did an excellent job with him.
Well I would imagine a psychopath who enjoys violence and manipulating people would have a great time with Mehrunes Dagon. But a normal person would definitely not.
That's kind of the point to me. Wanting to change something so bad that the rest of the world must change as well. So, the people that would want to do that are likely extremist or desperate slaves or nomads like reachmen. To correlate today, I see many leaders in politics that think like dragon worshippers, most of them democrats, as that is the quite literally party of change whatever change may be. Also holding their own values and goals above all else. Either, being ignorant to the fact that when you summon dagon (large changes/revolution) you will inevitably reach others you didnt intend to with your daedric fire, or they have already decided no matter what happens it's worth it. In theory, if the dwemer won and enslaved everybody and made them forget all their gods and they died off: dagon could likely become the last god to go, first to return, or ironically the bastion of hope trying to take down the oppressors. In their eyes it's change at all costs and change now. Kind of like the blm riots. Basically what I mean is looking at the correlation, a lot of people in reality are would be dagon worshippers but they just dont like whats attatched to the name dagon so theyre changing what they call him or just remain ignorant
@@TheGanjologist Well the general idea of all the Daedra princes is that they will turn on you if you are no longer useful to them. Mehrunes Dagon is not really unique in that sense, he just has higher demands/standards for his followers. But I could definitely see alot of people being Dagon worshipping today. Politically involved people especially.
They really should make an Elder Scrolls RTS/Civ Builder where you play as one of the many Gods conflicting with the others and the occasional special human
I’ve been to “Paradise”, Kvatch, and the Shrine of Mehrunes Dagon in Skyrim... short answer... *NO!* I mean when Molag Bal, Sheogorath, Mephala and Hermaeus Mora all think you’re a prick, I mean, yeah that’s a bad sign. Also, I mean, he is the reason Emperor Picard was assassinated, nuff said.
I think of Dagon as the last ditch hail Mary pass for when you're backed into a corner and have to fight your way out. I also think he gets underestimated sometimes, because of his multiple failed attempts to conquer Tamriel. Domination is Molag's thing. I'm pretty sure Mehrunes just uses it as a pretense to set the stage for some grand upheaval or conflict. All of his failed conquests have directly led to such things down the line. He plays the long game.
My current play through of Skyrim is with a Dark Elf who starts of worshiping Dagon because he feels the good Daedra are not strong enough to avenge his people and against the Lizards and the Nords who have put refugees in an insulting slum. However, after the events of Moon and Stars and House of Horrors he switches to Bal and becomes a vampire via Krovaxis lair.
Molag Bal and Malacath are my gods Every time I start a new game I mediately head west, to Markarth on foot, to obtain the bloody mace Molag Bal, then Head east on foot to the orc camp to gain malacath’s hammer. Mace and hammer, Tusk and blade That’s my motto as an orc warrior in Skyrim
There's some good or at least tempting reasons to, but on the other hand, you really don't want to anger Sheogorath to the point that he slips rope with your entrails. After all, Sheogorath is the Hero of Kvatch, Champion of Cyrodil and friend of Martin Septim.

please continue this series with all the deadra! maybe another “is worshipping the divines worth it” since you don’t directly interact with them they can be combined :)
The other thing to consider is that if you are indeed successful, and do seize power and rule over your chosen group, province, or all of Tamriel, that just puts you in power. Now you've set yourself up to be the one that someone else may later petition Dagon's help to overthrow.

Off topic but I recently started a playthrough of Morrowind with an extensive mod list and boy was this gem creepy. How I played it when I was younger I have no idea. Dagoth Ur is just a disaster. Morrowind is actually terrifying in a way. That part in the clockwork city where you see Sotha just dangling there in the air, plugged into his machine. Something about that horrified look on his face chilled me to the core. The fabricants look so bizarre. Almost as if Sotha Sil pulled them from some far off realm and welded metal parts to their bodies. The way Ash Ghouls dig out their eyes. The way they eventually grow trunks from the hole there. This game had a lot of moments that were down right horrifying that I never grasped fully when I was younger or never quite realized due to a lack of my own imagination and graphical power at the developers disposal when it was released. But playing it now, in 2021, with everything modified to make it look incredible, Mehrunes Dagon is the least of my worries. The implications have not been matched since. Oblivion. Skyrim. They fail to live up to their predecessor.
whats your mood list? I'm about to start another playthrough of morrowind but I want to overhaul the graphics and shit. make them as good as possible on my rig

Dagon is basically the Nirn's version of the Devil, Satan himself. While Molag Bal is the most evil Daedric Prince, Dagon has all the resemblances of the Devil on his appearance....
It doesn't always have to be "worth it" to worship an apocalypse cult. In my personal setting cultists usually worship because they've given completely into despair and confirmed for themselves that "No, I really DON'T want things to keep spinning if they're this fucked up."
Probably wouldn’t have added much, but you could also mention the possibility of the pirate captain Haknir Death-Brand as a follower of Dagon. It’s possible he offers the souls of all his slain victims and/or his own soul for Dagon to honor a *seemingly* one-sided deal in allegedly giving Death-Brand his equipment, strength, and long life.
Even if I am a Daedric Yandere, just by default... as Dragonborn, my soul will always return to Akatosh, so the Daedric Princes are shit out of luck with having my soul. 🙃
That didn’t stop Hermaeus Mora from imprisoning the first Dragonborn and a dragon for eternity. Better to deal with Daedric princes with your guard up, instead of relying on Akatosh to protect your soul. Didn’t work out that way for Miraak.
@@CeruleanSword Well Mirrak was trapped in apocrypha so as long as you aren’t in their realm of oblivion I think it’s fair to say that Akatosh most likely has your back
I don’t think the cultists were actually being punished in the paradise. I think it was dragons way of slowly stripping away there humanity until after time all that was left was a loyal daedric spirit. They would be immortal and presumably powerfull cause ya know, they have to practice fighting or end up in the lava cave of fun times.
Imagine if Ulfric would secretly be worshipping Dagon in order for his rebellion to succeed. Its a rebellion after all, it is meant to bring change, right? It would bring so much more depth to the Stormcloaks. Who knows, maybe thats why they seem to be so successful compared to the Legion's better military. Mehrunes Dagon is the daedra you turn to when you want success at any cost, I like that he is ruthless and even the most successful of all daedric lords, he won the Oblivion Crisis, everything that happens in Skyrim happens because his plans succeeded - change was brought to Tamriel on a massive scale, the 4th era is nothing like the 3rd era.
The Kindly Leaper-Demon King who was twisted into the mockery of change. Really, worshipping any deity in the Elder Scrolls series never seem to be worth it. Tis not a better thing to simply embrace the life and fulfill one's goals as best they go? Unless that goal is, of course, eradication and death of others. In that case, please, keep that in your pants..
As a different Michael once said: I'm starting with the man in the mirror I'm asking him to change his ways And no message could have been any clearer If you want to make the world a better place Take a look at Mehrunes, and then make a change
Mehrunes Dagon is is very much like the Revelations Beast, Lucifer. If you submit to him you will be able to survive in his hellish vision of the mortal world. If not you will be put to the sword, but in that resistance you will probably end up being with the Divines. You have to consider, is submitting to an infernal hell on earth/Nirn better than putting your faith in the Divines, even if Dagon vows to overthrow them
Here's my thing. Bethesda dropped the ball with the "Worshiping" aspect of the game. Personally, I would loved to have seen exclusive perk trees open up depending on which Diety the Drahonborn chose to worship. With quests suiting each unique diety. The more you act as the champion of said diety the more perk points you would gain for their respective tree. This would have added so.much more to the Role Playing Aspect which the game so desperately needs.
@@Starkiller44570 oh how I wish I had pc and a decent internet option in my area. Everything is better on PC. I hope they include that in the next version of skyrim about to be released.
That thumbnail makes Mehrunes Dagon look like the alternative "Leather Daddy" costume design they were thinking of going with for Satan before settling on the final one they ended up using for the "Montero (Call Me By Your Name)" music video produced by Lil Nas X. It looks like he has the collar on his studded leather dom jacket popped up to look sexier. The Folsom Street Fair of 3E 433 must have been held in the Imperial City.
I can see two philosophies in game that have shown to actually work in morals favor as far as daedra worship is concerned. The first is to actually move away from the concept of worship and to recognize the lord's as false friends. They treat morals as tools and so should we. A means to gain power but not someone to trust. This generally requires a very powerful moral, someone capable of defending then selfs from the ire of the lord's should the need be. I think manimarco is the chief example of this done right. The second philosophy is the one of the dark elves, or khajiit. Worshiping several lords in tandem as a society which seems to sorta balence out the influence of the daedra. Not allowing their fickle nature to lead you to ruin by worshiping only one. Of course the ayleids did eventually collapse but it does seem like they might have leaned too much in to the power of the daedra, plus like the 9 divines also were against them so that might have something to do with it.
Much appreciated *Fudgemuppet,* the gambling with this Daedric Prince can be near Clavicus Vile levels of dangerous. *"The Hardest choices often require the Strongest wills"*

Molag Bal tries to draw Nirn into Coldharbour in the 2nd era (ESO) Nocturnal tries to draw Nirn into Evergloam in the 2nd era (ESO - Summerset) Mehrunes Dagon tries to draw Nirn into the Deadlands in the 3rd era (Oblivion) What is it with some Daedric Princes and their obsession to consume Nirn unto themselves ? Daedric Princes are like Ego the Living Planet from Guardians of the Galaxy, they are literal planets/planes that manifest an avatar of their consciousness to walk ON THEM and fool around, so why would they need to consume the mortal plane if what they already need, they have ?

I have 2 moods, the oblivion crisis didn’t happen. The empire deserved it.
Or a che or Fidel shirt
@@tobe1207 hey buddy, we’re drawing in game parallels, those are real people and thus not nearly as funny
The ESO team did an excellent job with him.
when the DB has guests, he introduces it as a wall hanger that isn't even sharp but was a good deal.
The only daedra I'd worship is hircine
@@TheGanjologist Well the general idea of all the Daedra princes is that they will turn on you if you are no longer useful to them. Mehrunes Dagon is not really unique in that sense, he just has higher demands/standards for his followers.
But I could definitely see alot of people being Dagon worshipping today. Politically involved people especially.
Your creativity never stops delighting! I love this one, super interesting to think about all the different factors you went into here
well said
Almost 1m subssssss! Thank you always for the Elder Scrolls contents, FudgeMuppet Team!
Dagon gets some credit for destroying Lyg, at least. Anyone who gets one over on Molag Bal to that extent can't be all bad.
Sometimes I don’t think Dagon is in it to win. I think he just likes rocking the boat and seeing what happens next.
@@AzureTheAvian Definitely, he's the fire that burns down the old growth to make way for the new.
The fact that Dagon in ESO seems to be voiced by Worf, makes it better.
Did Michael Dorn do the voice? I don't have that game yet 🥺 but I 💜 Worf!
Mace and hammer, Tusk and blade
That’s my motto as an orc warrior in Skyrim
There's some good or at least tempting reasons to, but on the other hand, you really don't want to anger Sheogorath to the point that he slips rope with your entrails.
After all, Sheogorath is the Hero of Kvatch, Champion of Cyrodil and friend of Martin Septim.
I'm so glad i love these Lore videos ive always been coming back and forth between skyrim, mostly due to accidently deleting my saves so watching these helps get back on track.
I am certain I've watched every FudgeMuppet video and you guys never disappoint. These are the videos I use to search for long before I found this channel. Thanks
I've always said if the Daedra were real I would without a doubt be a devote follower of a certain drinking buddy named Sam, I understand others like sheogorath and such but I just have always loved the god of ales and debauchery
Sanguine is all fun and games until you get choked by a violent drunk.
Proceeds to get depression from exaggerated hedonism and lack of meaning like a boss.
@@breadlover302 Joke’s on you, I’m into that shit!
trading your soul for something is an extremely dumb thing to do, it's screwing over an eternal afterlife for a thing in life that won't matter once you die.
Fudge: better follow Hircine
Me: *remembering Bloodmoon DLC* not sure if that's better...
I'd say worship hircine, he will never lie and never be angry if you thwart him fairly, and he will always be a good sportsman and give a fighting chance
All hircine wants is for you to never forget about your inner primal nature, and to better yourself by using it
Holy shit almost a million subs, I’ve been here for years, so happy to see something I’ve loved has lasted so long.
Dagon always been my favorite, being a fan of conjuration and a slightly pyromaniac the deadlands is a great choice for me. Dawn is breaking.
Greet the new day.
Same
The book mods you have are AMAZING 👏👏👏. Good vid
please continue this series with all the deadra! maybe another “is worshipping the divines worth it” since you don’t directly interact with them they can be combined :)
The other thing to consider is that if you are indeed successful, and do seize power and rule over your chosen group, province, or all of Tamriel, that just puts you in power. Now you've set yourself up to be the one that someone else may later petition Dagon's help to overthrow.
He is also the Daedra of Revolution on top of Destruction afterall.
Great video! I've been enjoying these lore deepdives recently as I've gotten back into Skyrim.
15:15 maaaaaaaaaaaan you do not NEED Daedric help to become a THANE.
I mean sheeesh, if your such a ‘powerful mage’, go kill a troll or stalk a weird dude in a swamp. Take care of some draugr or get a sword back from bandits & BOOM: Thane🤦🏻♂️
Should’ve just done what that one mute guy did.

I'd like to see videos like this about the other Daedra, as this one is really fascinating. Particularly, the three Daedra I'd love to know if it's worth following are Jyggalag, Meridia, and Hermaeus Mora.
the mythic dawn museum in dawnstar being allowed to exist is one of the funniest and dumbest thing in skyrim. it's like some guy down the road literally building an atomic bomb and you do nothing
Lord of destruction, emissary of change. He is the personification of chaos and ambition put into one, all hail
🔥☀️😈 LORD DAGON 😈☀️🔥
All hail lord Dagon!
It's been a lot of years and y'all still killing it I'm glad you're almost at a million subs. I'm glad to see the the other guys back too I feel like Mike'scotdrews? been doing them all for a while I'm bad at names and I don't know how your production works. “Khajiit likes dis blade, yes. Dis blade fits well in Khajiit’s hand and it looks good. Dis blade is so sharp! It feels - GAH”
*Khajiit dies.
This would make a nice movie.
And if you're at the more Azura and Hercine level, but neither strikes your fancy Nocturne may be willing to hear your request, and Meridia is always looking for champions in the fight against the undead
I still don't get why should I worship Goro from Mortal Kombat
*Kombat
@@Vampyrate_ touché
As an imperial Khajiit that worships talos, I say " whatever floats your boat"
Dagon is basically the Nirn's version of the Devil, Satan himself. While Molag Bal is the most evil Daedric Prince, Dagon has all the resemblances of the Devil on his appearance....
Screw Dagon. Let me worship Sheogorath!
BRING ME THE *CHEESE* !!!
"Lord Dagon we praise you! Our empire will last for generations to come thanks to you!"
Dagon: "yeahhhh about that whole for generations thing..."
It doesn't always have to be "worth it" to worship an apocalypse cult. In my personal setting cultists usually worship because they've given completely into despair and confirmed for themselves that "No, I really DON'T want things to keep spinning if they're this fucked up."
Been spending most their lives, living in Mankar's paradise
C'mon guys we all know which Daedra we should really follow.
A NEW HAND TOUCHES THE BEACON.
When my Dragonborn dies they’re all going to ask for her soul and she’s just gonna say “Nah, I don’t really feel like it”
@@BigBoss549 That is awesome!
That didn’t stop Hermaeus Mora from imprisoning the first Dragonborn and a dragon for eternity.
Better to deal with Daedric princes with your guard up, instead of relying on Akatosh to protect your soul. Didn’t work out that way for Miraak.
@@CeruleanSword Well Mirrak was trapped in apocrypha so as long as you aren’t in their realm of oblivion I think it’s fair to say that Akatosh most likely has your back
Loved it!
I don’t think the cultists were actually being punished in the paradise. I think it was dragons way of slowly stripping away there humanity until after time all that was left was a loyal daedric spirit. They would be immortal and presumably powerfull cause ya know, they have to practice fighting or end up in the lava cave of fun times.
so only do it if you want to tear down an empire.
Like the aldmeri dominion...
_Thinks agressively..._
But the stormcloaks canonically got beat silly in just a few months after tullius arrived- they haven't been successful since before tullius got there
I think Dagon is actually Ben 10. He got trapped in his Four-Arms form and the watch was broken, so he evolved and has been a daedra ever since
"TOP 10 THINGS BETHESDA WAS HIDING FROM YOU!"
Hell no! You go Molog Bol for that ridiculously unwieldy and cool looking, Sickhouse mace!
It's only worth it if your dragonborn because akatosh will bail you out
In Oblivion, Mehrunes Dagon had his Daedric Servants torture his worshippers.
Wasn't it Molang Bal?
Imagine how powerful the LDB would become if they used the razor on Ohgma Infinium, the Black Books or even the Elder Scrolls
Yes, just for the treasure in his shrine and deadra hearts alone.
Keep spoiling us like this with quality content and you will soon have an entire community of Nazeems.
Can't choose-thumb up/down...
Good one😎
A fantastic video as always: You should do Hermaeus Mora next.
This series on your channel has titles like what keeps the depressed dragonborn awake.
As a different Michael once said:
I'm starting with the man in the mirror
I'm asking him to change his ways
And no message could have been any clearer
If you want to make the world a better place
Take a look at Mehrunes, and then make a change
If you defeats his best troop, he will recruit you and spare your family.
Mehrunes Dagon is is very much like the Revelations Beast, Lucifer. If you submit to him you will be able to survive in his hellish vision of the mortal world. If not you will be put to the sword, but in that resistance you will probably end up being with the Divines. You have to consider, is submitting to an infernal hell on earth/Nirn better than putting your faith in the Divines, even if Dagon vows to overthrow them
Fudgemuppet could you PLEASE do a video like this for Hermaeus Mora weighing the pros and cons of worshipping the god of Fate and knowledge
One time I rejected Mehrunes Dagon. I was randomly attacked by a vampire two hours later.
The religion mod is awesome if you have pc (idk about Xbox)
perk tress? what? oh, you mean skyrim..
I’m currently playing a dark elf who worships him as a test of strength and it drives him to scheme as well
I can see two philosophies in game that have shown to actually work in morals favor as far as daedra worship is concerned.
I whould never truly trust him. Ya he gives you what he promised but at what cost? It whould be like making a deal with the devil
Yes you get a cool knife and a shrine to farm Daedra hearts, what could possibly go wrong?
Much appreciated *Fudgemuppet,* the gambling with this Daedric Prince can be near Clavicus Vile levels of dangerous.
*"The Hardest choices often require the Strongest wills"*
I just pledge to all the gods and hope that they don't get mad
Honestly I only think you "Win" with dagon if your goal is too bring about great change through destruction. Would be interesting too know how he feels on the civil war
Honestly I wish they had alternative quest to destroy the evil.

Molag Bal tries to draw Nirn into Coldharbour in the 2nd era (ESO)
Nocturnal tries to draw Nirn into Evergloam in the 2nd era (ESO - Summerset)
Mehrunes Dagon tries to draw Nirn into the Deadlands in the 3rd era (Oblivion)
What is it with some Daedric Princes and their obsession to consume Nirn unto themselves ?
Daedric Princes are like Ego the Living Planet from Guardians of the Galaxy,
they are literal planets/planes that manifest an avatar of their consciousness to walk ON THEM and fool around,
so why would they need to consume the mortal plane if what they already need, they have ?
Another great episode. Thanks guys, always glad to hava a new one.
Not gonna lie, he's one hell of a character.
kinda crazy how this dude still uploads skyrim vids
Given there was a game and dlc to answer that question, I guess this is easier than the rest.
Well, it's a tough question. Let's check our formula:
Is the god a daedra?
Yes [V] No [ ]
According to our formula, Mehrunes Dagon is a daedra, so yes, it's worth worshipping him.
Dagon got some dragon nuts dragged on his face, that’s why he tries to flex in the DB.
Requesting a who is more of a powerful\dangerous dadreic lord ?
List a few powerful dedric lords and done you got yourself an episode!
(Sorry if i misspelled incorrectly)
For the thousandth time the beauty of your videos amazes me and wish I knew what mods you were using for skyrim though sadly most of your graphic mods probably aren't available on Xbox.
if you choose both daedra and the divines you get special dialogue
It just occurred to me: Would Joker be the closest thing to a champion of Dagon in Gotham? He does “just want to see the world burn” after all.
joker would probably be more of a Sheogorath I think
Dagon can’t hurt you if you’re strong enough
Dagon is the ONLY place to start getting Daedra hearts at lvl 11. So, Yes. Absolutely. Even after you do this quest, More Daedra hearts begin to appear in Apothecary shops. So, again, Yes! Absolutely.
The Nine Divines: It is complicated... so either fishes or birds of the divine world.
Aedra: The dogs of the divine world.
Daedra: The cats of the divine world.
If you ever had cats, you know how self-centered they are and how they view us humans as just tools for their agendas. 🤣
