And here I was wondering what to watch, when suddenly an Oblivion portal opened up before me and out walked a Drewmora with more occult knowledge to share.
I can't stop feeling heartwarmed when Drew drops a video a Sunday or Saturday outta nowhere, but even more when one's lenght such as this. I hope we get all Oblivion planes and a couple more in TES 6. Thank you man for what you do, you do so graciously. Good vibes from Uru, no weed and coffee anymore... just decaf
Meridia's flaw isn't just about style over substance, but also an obsession with purity. She laments the inconstancy of her mortal followers, and seeks to purge any corruption anywhere at all. Those mortals who serve her will inevitably discover that anything spawned by the Gray Maybe are far too checkered for her liking, and when she is finished dealing with greater evils, she will turn on the lesser ones, including those she sees within her allies who fall short of her ever-narrowing standards.
I have never believed that the Shivering Isles is a realm one travels to but rather a place that visits you as you descend deeper and deeper into madness. The mind of one who makes the journey is encapsulated by the Isles, which is why it’s shaped like a brain, it’s your own mind, then the journey to new Sheo is as easy as a stroll into your own deranged thoughts. Why Uncle Sheo says he is a part of you is because his realm occupies the boundaries of the minds he has ensnared.
Please never stop making these. I absolutely love lore in TES but due to my ADHD I can find it hard to absorb it all whilst I'm playing. So having content creators like yourself literally means the mundus to me ❤
Honestly have loved your vids since FudgeMuppet, there's something about your voice and elder scrolls that just calm me to the core no matter how stressed or panicked I am seriously thankyou your videos have been a life changer for my anxiety ❤
Drewmora the storyteller is deadric prince that manifests as a druid or scholar and makes the soul of the person hear his stories travel inside his realm the endless book of lore. I always love your videos it makes me feel good travel to the elder scrolls world and feel creative to draw more .
Very nice. Very good topic to explore. For even us traveled Loremasters it can be complicated to explain the nature of Planes without delving into Dawn Era madness. Thank you, Drew the Daedrologist!
Dude... not even remotely joking when i tell you that as i was listening to you read the excerpt from "Exegesis of Merid-Nunda" I stumbled across that exact book laying on the ground outside a run-down shack while exploring Coldharbour in ESO. Hoping that was just a massive coincidence and not Molag Bal having a laugh before he confiscates my soul.
You are by and large my favorite elder scrolls channel. Your videos always feel like sitting down with a scholar as he discusses his findings and theories as he might to a bright student he feels can comprehend the subject.
I've downloaded all Drewmoras elder scrolls videos so I can listen to them at work. I'm a landscaper and when I'm out working in the gardens, drewmoras voice and storytelling fits perfectly. Thank you
Thank you for taking the time to make these. I'd love to hear a dramatic telling of some tes stories. Beggar thief warrior king or 2920 for example, just my thought.
By the Nine, what a masterful script! Drew, you are my hero. A true story teller, a gentleman and a scholar. True master of your craft. I listen in awe, each and every release you do.
I'm always so happy when a TES lore video drops from Drew. I know that it means that I'll have a much needed reprieve from the anxiety, terror, and overall malaise I feel as I mindlessly work at my data entry job. Instead of being overworked and burnt out and sad, I know I'll be engaged in something special and it'll be a pleasant jaunt through one of my favorite worlds told by someone thorough, creative, and in possession of a strange feeling of care and gentleness that I cannot explain but FEEL in his voice. Idk man. I just love it, and am grateful for these videos. Thank you so much for sharing your interests and talents with us. 💜
The thing with the guy looking fof traitors, then get frustrated and kill himself, only to discover thst HE was the traitor since he killed himself... I busted out laughing tbh. That level of paradoxical absurdity is not only hilarious, but REALLY fitting for Sheogorath's realm too.
Amazing Video!!! Maybe a weird request: could you maybe do a Video about resurrection in the Elder Scrolls? Because it feels like something that works in TES, but seamingly isn't a part of it. Most prominently, Alduin brings the dead Dragons back to live, and while I previously thought, that it makes sense, since TES Dragons are beings outside of time, I recently watched a Video on the shout He uses, that apparently just turns time back, so it _could_ work on other species (provided you have a perfect understanding of time and death, like Alduin has)? Some of the daedra, especially Molag Bal, seem to love bringing people back, either as living or undead. Individuals like Wulfharth and the Nerevarine apparently were brought back several times. In early Lore, priests in temples could apparently resurrect dead people, and it seems there is at least one case in the current Lore, where a priest resurrected a dead Boy. And hagravens can apparently also resurrect the reachfolk, though I read somewhere, that their resurrection spell is an instant version of the briarheart ritual? And then I recently found the Song "Pray to the Hunter", where in its music video, it seems like the man is resurrected at the end. And from what little I was able to find, it seems like the Song is canon?
It’s a bummer how incomplete Moras realm felt in Skyrim. The Shivering Isles was so fleshed out, Dragonborn was like 1 step above call of duty in its linear style.
Makes sense when the Shivering Isles also serves as the main world to play in, whereas in Dragonborn it's Solstheim, not Apocrypha. Would've been cool, sure, but double the work. I also think being vague and mysterious fits the realm perfectly. Being able to explore a fleshed out Apocrypha would've likely diminished that mystery factor.
@@LucaDavoli_ good point, somehow I never factored Solstheim being apart of the DLC until you said that. It get smaller than Morrowind and maybe that’s because you’d die easily but Skyrims was way more fleshed out in my opinion.
The Hill of Suicides isn't just punishment, i don't think, it's also Sheogorath's twisted mercy: his manic side may well truly believe he is happy, that in his dual madness he has overcome depression, sadness and defeatism and that those held upon the Hill are granted the same blessing he recieved to fully give themselves into depression and commit the ultimate madness of ending their own lives, but keep existing in this mad realm Of course his demented side holds there those who shun his gift of depression and would instead take their lifes than live with it, a grudge which the Mad God cannot let go Or maybe i'm completely wrong, and Sheogorath simply does as he does for reasons to which only himself is privy, or no reason at all
Just FYI Dimension is anything you can set to a variable. Also you can think of math as having a lot of hindsight bias. Hopefully by me saying all of that helps with considering physical reality. Another thing to consider is how magic numbers called constants, represent a lack of inclusion of dimensions. It's a way for our formula to adjust for what we are not calculating. You might even be able to call it the key to the illusion.
Talking about kalpas for another video. Would be cool if it had a redgaurd vibe, I like how they put it with satakal and the world skin. Really ouroboros especially with all the dragon time God also combining lorkhan.
Always a pleasure to see and listen to one of your stories! Am I hearing another fan influence correctly in the re-rendition of the Peace of Akatosh at the start of the video?
Top notch vid as always. Glad you're still pumping out Elder Scrolls content! Was wondering if you could say where some of the shots were from i.e. the desert with the hourglass and dragon, Meridia's coloured rooms and the morrowind-like area with the cool sky box in the jntro. Are they from mods or places in ESO?
On another note, Drew, considering everything we know about Meridia, the Maga-Ge and Aedra, and all the different interpretations, do you think it's possible for Meridia to be redeemed in the eyes of the Aedra? If she has an overall positive effect on Tamriel, helping our heroes and fighting other daedra, could it possibly make up for her past actions, and maybe even be allowed to return to Athereius one day? I think of the conclusion of the Companion's questline where Kodlak says perhaps the heroes of Sovngarde can rescue the other werewolf harbingers from oblivion in the 'Harrowing of the Hunting Grounds' and return to Sovngarde. If Mortals can be redeemed this way, can former Magna-Ge?
Hey drew an idea from a bit of very unexplored and under-developed lore that your creative flow would make a great topic from is Shadow Magic like that from The Elder Scrolls Legends Shadow key
How cool would it be if they made an entire Elder Scrolls game (or DLC, at the least), which took place exclusively in Oblivion (multiple different Daedric realms, but no Nirn)?
At 12:14 I noticed something that might have huge lore implications. "...[Oblivion's] quarters are the most mapped and charted of all the outer realms..." So, Oblivion is but one of the outer realms? I mean I guess there's Aetherius too but... That seems to imply there are more?
I never personally cared about Starfield, as I'm not into Sci-Fi and space travel. But there is one good thing about it. Now that it's finally been released, Bethesda can finally focus on creating Elder Scrolls 6.
WHIMSICAL Sheogorath? In the shivering isles he goes between the cheese talk and talking about ripping out your guts and feeding them to you or hanging you with them. People just love to forget the horrendous things he has said and only focus on the nice funny things. Those are the people he would skin alive
2:50: "We have a tendency to plunge into the stinking depths of elder scrolls lore. Sometimes, the only way to process these topics is to have a long introspective shower and think about what we've done."
28:41 “Some weirdo inside their head” is the only meta theory of this kind I’ll ever accept. Screw the Godhead being the devs, or Ma’iq being Todd Howard or whatever. The player character just being some poor bastard who got hijacked by the most batshit insane DID system imaginable and woke up on death row only to find out this possibly extradimensional mental patient locked them inside their own head so they could save the world? I’m here for that.
Why would Arden-Sul want to cut off Sheo's head and roll it down suicide hill? Maybe because subconsciously Arden-Sul knows that he is Sheo in some sense? So killing Arden-Sul killing Sheo would be a suicide?
And here I was wondering what to watch, when suddenly an Oblivion portal opened up before me and out walked a Drewmora with more occult knowledge to share.

I love when you insert yourself in the story as if you were in tamriel at the beginning of your videos, even the little scenes coming from skyrim.
I’ll never get tired of hearing Drew talk about the elder scrolls or anything for that matter 😅
The slightly slowed down Oblivion ost, the production, the script, these videos feel so damn cozy to sit through

so she's basically a 21st century leftist😅
While I see the correlation. The same can be said about the fragile purging uncolored agenda on the right. This god is quite fitting for them.
Far left 🤝 Far right
"Loving Meridia"
a response at 28:47... sick burn. im gonna need a wellness potion after that. we dont talk about him.
"But we're not interested in fictional worlds like Earth"

Ur videos are always visually stunning and the scripting is amazing. I wish I could give you an award or something

I'm really, really looking forward to your next video, Drew.
I’d love to live in the Shivering Isles, particularly Dementia. It’s such a vibe
I could sell you some mushrooms that would take you there.
If the manifestation of a Dedra can be thought of as a particle, its influence and action the wave function, then its plane is its field.
Good analogy
Thank you for giving us more elder scrolls content.
