I'm convinced that there is a degree of truth in Mankar Camoran's words and that the real bad guy of the Elder Scrolls universe is Auriel; that he's a usurper. Even his most rabidly loyal follower among the Aedra, Trinimac, was confronted, defeated, and "corrupted" by Boethiah and became the Daedric Prince Malacath. Afterwards, his own people, the Orcs, adopted and still follow a code and way of life not too dissimilar from the primitive Nords who followed Shor (Lorkhan). Interesting that.
@@HickoryDickory86 I don't get how Lorkhan, the aspect of Chaos, is the undisputed good guy but Auriel, the God who was betrayed, was the bad guy? Didn't Mankar use Dagon as a tool to help end the unfinished world that Magnus constructed through his architectural mind?
Oh... so the Daedra are the good guys and Aedra the bad? Can't tell you how much the Daedra have lead to the deaths of many innocents. The Aedra have little power to try and battle the evil, but they're not immoral due to that. Most Daedra live in Chaotic Oblivion for a reason
@@thalmoragent9344 but there has been conflicts before when Daedra and Aedra fought together on the same side, against Auriel in particular. You should have started with your definition of "evil." "Profoundly immoral/wicked" is one such definition. I would argue that Dagon *is* a force of nature and change and a necessary part of the Mundas and mortal life on Nirn. However, insofar as Aedric beliefs, western beliefs and majority of inhabitants of Nirn we interact with, Dagon *is* immoral. He has no regard for the life or the beauty. His apathy, which you argue is his saving grace, is actually the reason he *is* evil. He will kill tyrants and topple regimes....but he will also kill a farmer caught in the way, a child who has done no crimes, and it won't stop him from his goal. That apathy, that immorality, is why he is one of the evil daedric prince's, and indeed why they are considered the evil beings of the Aubis.
Exacly, philosophly speaking he is true Evil, it is the same archetype/spirit that Communists in Russia like Stalin had. This creator is crazy, like dangerously misguided.
@@stuartmorley6894 Perfectly said, he isn't immoral but amoral....it's indifference to individual life not willful malice. He doesn't give a shit about the farmer's life but he doesn't desire to actively persecute or snuff it out either....just get out of his way and hope for the best.
I really like that analogy concerning forests fires. Not all forests fires are bad. Many controlled burns help the environment by adding more nutrients to the earth and allows for younger plants a chance to grow whereas previously, their growth was constricted due to competition.
@@barricadedpurifierThe Nile Delta is 1 such place with black soil, rich with nutrients. Same as Volcanic Soil as that is rich in nutrients and minerals. Plants are like Humans & Animals, they need a fair chunk of the same nutrients we do to live (except us humans and I think animals don't need Sulphur as well as Nitrogen & Phosphorus, we do however love and need Potassium like plants do also). Plants need Iron too.
Man fudge Muppet really shot themselves in the foot by letting you go your narration and style of videos and explaining the lore was one of the better reasons why fudge Muppet blew up rather than just two random Australian guys that played Skyrim having the exact same voice
Def love the content on the Daedra would be interesting to see your take on if a few of the princes were to try and team up to get to tamriel to take it and inevitably turn on each other and create a level of chaos that would make Sheogorath blush with the princes literally fighting each other like Molag Bal v. Mehrunes Dagon and others in the fight as well causing Jyggalag to come back and restore order
I'm confused. Are you saying that Dagon isn't evil because he's more or less a natural response to oppression? Isn't his shtick that he's constantly scheming to invade and conquer Tamriel even when there is no oppression to go about? Dagon isn't answering summons to just go deal with some tyrant for the sake of change or justice. He's got some lofty ambitions of his own. Every instance where Dagon stepped foot on Nirn, he *always* had every intention of conquering Nirn, and the "change" he brought about was always an unintended consequence of that. On top of that, his sphere *DOES* take prisoners. The Deadlands in ESO and Oblivion are littered with them. I think we've actually seen more prisoners and victims of extremely brutal torture in the Deadlands than we've seen in Coldharbour. Dagon even personally imprisoned the souls of the Longhouse Emperors and tormented them for eternity just for fun until the Vestige freed them. Not exactly a lot of liberty and anarchism going on in that place. It's interesting to think of him as a force of nature that will ultimately bring about a perfect world at the cost of the current imperfect world, but I honestly see that as a rhetoric his cultists spew out to justify their actions. To me it feels like he's out to be The Elder Scrolls' version of Darkseid, in the sense that his "remaking" of the world involves turning it into a copy of the Deadlands and not creating a utopia of freedom.
i finally have a few home brew daedric princes written out, it took me forever lol, but i was just trying to be original. So far my favorite is still unnamed, but she is the daedric prince of spite and preservation, and her realm of oblivion is said to be a beautiful alternative to any mortal kind’s afterlife, it is said to be a garden of eden, lush and never ending, full of color, love, and life. Her creatures are some kind of bug, i’m not sure exactly what yet but i like the idea of daedric honeybees bc of real life pollination, and they pollinate weak mortal minds that are vulnerable to influence and anxiety about their loved ones leaving them, ultimately causing them to ritually murder or “sacrifice” their loved one with what i would call a assassin’s creed type hidden knife but made of a daedric tree’s root, that manifests as her bees pollinate the mind of the “worshipper”. the bees promise eternity with those they sacrifice, as well as never having to worry about losing the love they have, and the ultimate act to please this prince is ritual sacrifice and suicide, basically a murder suicide in the name of the prince. But the truth is that when done, they are trapped in some sort of flower with their loved one, a fusion of both soul and consciousness, where they can’t move or think at all, almost like the ritual soul traps the victims, but instead of the soul cairn they are sent into a soul gem daedric flower in this garden of beautiful nightmares. The prince knows all too well that she isn’t well known or widely worshipped anymore, and she knows her power comes from recognition and worship, so she traps mortals in her garden for eternity, promising the rose petals of love for eternity, only to sink the thorns of truth in, when the victims cease to be anything but a decorative battery for the prince. That’s right, the whole oblivion realm is populated with victims from current to a millennia ago. The only thing there that is of the prince’s own creation, is her “mother tree”, the source of her power where she stores the sap of mortal spite and she uses it to create her daedric bee’s, sending more and more out to add to her collection. She is the prince of weak minds in a way, convincing mortals to act in her benefit with a lie, until it completely infests their soul sprouting the murder weapon straight from a wooden thorn out of their wrist. There is no denying this outcome, those infested have been observed, and chosen carefully, so the prince has a 100% success rate. She is the prince of spite, or the preservation of “love for eternity”, or at least that is what they believe when they commit the ritual murder suicide, when in reality she uses mortal’s weak minds to create batteries of power that adds to her pool of power, through acts of spite. let me know what y’all think, i know that’s a long read, and i might not have conveyed my ideas the best, but it would be so cool to hear some feedback, or some of your own ideas! another great video Drew! keep up the good work! much love!
It is said that Magnus left pieces of himself when he escaped Mundus. It is possible that Mehrunes was the reforging of his leftover pieces...headcanon.
Awesome video, but I wonder why you didn’t talk about the tale of the Demon Leaper King being transformed into Dagon by Alduin. I’d really like to know your thoughts on how that relates to the tale told here.
After playing the Eldar Scrolls since the 90s and absorbing the lore I do believe Dagon is evil. Yet at the same time he can be fair minded and darkly honourable. He is also intelligent and knows exactly what he's doing. But I can judge him as the mortal I am and say he is evil... Still my favourite prince
Only problem with Dagon is that if he weren't stopped he'd keep going, he can so easily become the conflagration that consumes instead of the fires that renew. Restraint is a problem many of the Princes have.
Always thought Peryite fell under the good ledger in the book? Without disease and decay we wouldn't have growth and renewal? Cheers and am loving Drew's new channel his narrative always brightens the bleakest day 👍

You keep making me rethink my views of the "Dedra" and the "Aedra" in Skyrim. Hm, so who is the 'bad guy' really? LOL
PLEASE keep making your videos. I like to be made to rethink my theories, based solely on my own opinion. Getting another view does have a way of waking you up, doesn't it?
Thank you so very much.
@@HickoryDickory86
I don't get how Lorkhan, the aspect of Chaos, is the undisputed good guy but Auriel, the God who was betrayed, was the bad guy?
Didn't Mankar use Dagon as a tool to help end the unfinished world that Magnus constructed through his architectural mind?
Oh... so the Daedra are the good guys and Aedra the bad?
Can't tell you how much the Daedra have lead to the deaths of many innocents. The Aedra have little power to try and battle the evil, but they're not immoral due to that.
Most Daedra live in Chaotic Oblivion for a reason
@@thalmoragent9344 but there has been conflicts before when Daedra and Aedra fought together on the same side, against Auriel in particular.
Hircine, and either Dagon or Boethia (I forget which) worked with Kyne to punish Trinimac for slaying Lorkhan. Kyne as in Kynareth, the goddess of wind and of the hunt; an Aedra.
You are my favorite lore UA-camr (tied with camel) , I hope you have great success with this channel
So Mehrunes Dagon is basically Anarchy personified
Yaas, I love me some Drewmora, and definitely some Daddy Dagon! Awesome video, and a great take on Dagon. Thank you!
*"Ah our Daedralogist Drewmora, who sold himself to an Eldrich Horror has returned from the realm of Apocrypha with more forbidden knowledge as gifts to his apprentices"*
-random Cult of the Daedralogist acolyte
Off topic, playing devils advocate for various daedric princes in this format might be an interesting side series. To counter that, maybe a series on why the Aedra arent as "benevolent" as the temple doctrines would have you believe.
I don't understand them that well. But from what I've heard whispers about from Skyrim, they're a bunch of bumbling bafoons.
I don't see how you'd place the Aedra as malevolent to the same extent as the Daedra..
This whole edgy idea that all the Aedra are "the bad guys" and all the daedra are just "misunderstood good guys" doesn't work 100%
Some Daedra are admittedly hated much, as they're not ALL that bad, but people playing devils advocate for all of them gets unironically out of hand and suddenly devolves into degeneracy
@@thalmoragent9344 Well they don't have to be on the same level of malevolence as the Daedra, I don't think any divine is anywhere near Molag bal.
Speaking of which, I remember vividly the time you entertained the idea of courting a hypothetical priestess of Molag bal for a night, agent. You arent slipping on us are you?
That said, I don't really have an answer as how to go about it. I'm certainly no Aedrologist (needs to be a position in lore). Though you are right, some people do have a tendency to get "weird" with defending daedra and daedra worshippers.

Although I'm only vaguely remembering this "Molag Bal Priestess" thing, you remember the video we talked about it on? Cause I've admittedly somewhat forgotten 😅
@@thalmoragent9344 Damn, I cant really remember the vid either. If I find it I'll let you know. I'm assuming it had something to do with vampirism on fudgemuppets channel.
I'm so excited that you have your own channel! I used to click through fudgemuppet's videos looking for the ones you wrote/voiced- like searching through trail mix for M&M's :p All of their videos were/are great, but your voice is the most relaxing thing in the world and your videos are always so immersive and cinematic :D Loved this one too :D
I didn't even know he had his own channel for a long time. The collaboration was cool too, hope there wasn't any hard feelings in those projects
After playing Oblivion I cannot see Mehrunes Dagon as anything but evil.
Lig is short for Ligma.
He literally betrays you after his quest.
You should have started with your definition of "evil."
"Profoundly immoral/wicked" is one such definition.
Is an Earthquake evil? A Flood? Dagon is no different. He cannot act outside his sphere, it's not something done with malice.
@@stuartmorley6894 Perfectly said, he isn't immoral but amoral....it's indifference to individual life not willful malice. He doesn't give a shit about the farmer's life but he doesn't desire to actively persecute or snuff it out either....just get out of his way and hope for the best.

These vids really motivate me to work on my own writing. Good job, king!
I really like that analogy concerning forests fires. Not all forests fires are bad. Many controlled burns help the environment by adding more nutrients to the earth and allows for younger plants a chance to grow whereas previously, their growth was constricted due to competition.
Also on most places people burn forest to create farms.
@@budakbaongsiah yep, that too. Also, it’s funny that people don’t know where black soil comes from or how sought after volcanic soil is.
Ok but Molag Bal is still evil right? That hasn't changed?
Love the content. Keep it up! I’ve been having a tough time and your videos are always a boost! Thanks again
The only thing inevitable is change.
I dont CARE if he's evil. His follower's hearts are forfeit! Their souls are MINE!!!
Mehrune's razor never left my inventory.
I love you all ty for the effort in this videos drew
Excellent
Man fudge Muppet really shot themselves in the foot by letting you go
your narration and style of videos and explaining the lore was one of the better reasons why fudge Muppet blew up
rather than just two random Australian guys that played Skyrim having the exact same voice
S tier lore videos as usual
Def love the content on the Daedra would be interesting to see your take on if a few of the princes were to try and team up to get to tamriel to take it and inevitably turn on each other and create a level of chaos that would make Sheogorath blush with the princes literally fighting each other like Molag Bal v. Mehrunes Dagon and others in the fight as well causing Jyggalag to come back and restore order
Personally I just wanted Jyggalag to come back period.
Great video once again. Thanks
i finally have a few home brew daedric princes written out, it took me forever lol, but i was just trying to be original.

Wait a second I know this voice
stop everything, new Drewmora just dropped
I *hope* this is informative
He committed genocide in kavach, don't know how you can say he is not evil
He's just an Angry Troublemaking Kitten that wants anarchy... just like an 14 year old edgy kid....
Merrunz ♥️😺
Sounds evil
Like moronic Communists that only wish to be in charge or to destroy the virtuous followers of Zenethar.
Only problem with Dagon is that if he weren't stopped he'd keep going, he can so easily become the conflagration that consumes instead of the fires that renew.
Restraint is a problem many of the Princes have.
Idk, seems pretty evil to me
Next up: Namira is not disgusting
Awesomeness Drew well thought out view points thanking you 👍 Just wondering if you mean he's a force of nature like entropy?
