Some of the Brother sewing machines have bobbin winders that break very easy, fortunately many of them are easy to replace.
This takes about ten minutes and I charge fifty dollars to replace a bobbin winder on this style of Brother sewing machine, I am going to show you how to replace it for the cost of the parts.
There are many Brother sewing machines that use this or similar bobbin winders, they all change the exact same way and very simple to repair. If you have any questions please put them in the comments below and I will answer them as soon as possible.
These Brother bobbin winders are very fragile, break easily and should be treated with kid gloves, if you have one break this video shows you exactly how to replace bobbin winder on brother sewing machines.
The Brother bobbin winder replacement procedure is as follows.
Remove all the screws from the back of the sewing machine, remove the needle bar cover from the front of the machine, then remove the single screw from the front of the sewing machine. On the the bottom there are four more screw to remove, the bottom panel will come off then the machine will open very easily.
Disconnect the two wiring plugs at the top of the machine as shown in the video then you can put the front side to the side. Disconnect and remove the circuit board then yo can access the bobbin winder.
Remove the screws and bobbin winder as shown in the video, be careful not to break the new Brother bobbin winder while replacing it, if it does not work properly review the procedures in the video to find the problem.
Once the you have finished and the bobbin winder works properly, reassemble the machine as shown in the video and test it to ensure there are no other problems.

If anyone decides to replace the bobbin winder on any machine, I suggest you take pics first before removing the parts.
Ha! I took my computerized Brother machine to our local sewing machine repair place that has been in business for over 50 years. I needed the bobbin winder replaced and they flat out refused to do it. They told me it was very labor intensive and I would be better off buying a new sewing machine. At that, I bought a battery/electric operated bobbin winder that works just fine for much less money.

Great job! I would have had extra screws unaccounted for, lol. I’ve never found a local sewing machine repair shop where I live so I’ve been watching many UA-cam channels to learn to maintain them myself. It’s actually been fun playing around with them. Hello, I don't know if you have seen the mechanism of the new model brother sewing machine models, they are a metal frame and it is even more convenient to change the winder, no need to unscrew the electronic board.. .The new models are designed to facilitate repairs, fewer screws, simpler, more practical and a little more robust at the mechanical level, it is still an entry level but better and more for the duration

The Brother SE600 takes a class 15 plastic bobbin, the manual specifies the SA156 which is a variation of the class 15.

why did he put the curve metal not back behind the other as it was to begin with. He just attached it in the front of the bar and then turned the bobbin.

@@sewingmachinetipsandtricks9079 you remove it from behind the bracket at the bobbin winder but replaced it in front of the bracket. Watch the video...its the piece with the curve that moves the bobbin winder to allow the winder to spin .

It is not a big deal on this machine, they each preform a separate function but are attached in the same place. it does not matter which one is in front or in back.

More than reasonable imo. I have a singer stylist 367 and a brother es-2410 that I just picked up yesterday with a broken bobbin winder (hence I am here). The singer works like a dream and I usually use it for more intensive work alongside my previous main machine (which the es-2410 will replace). I feel like sewing machines were built to last more often back in older times.
