  • Let's learn about the Brother XL2600 home sewing machine. It is time for me to review this sewing machine and provide some insight as to how these machines will hold up to the test of time. This is not a new machine, but it is a newer model of machine and this review is relevant to new machines.

    Well done. Clear and concise. Just got one from a friend whose mother is no longer using it. But I couldn't figure out how to get the cover apart. This is a big help!

    Thank you for the Video. It was just what I needed. The instructions were hard to read online. (Bad eyesight). You really help me to feel more comfortable in maintaining my machine. You are the greatest. I just subscribed and looking forward to your great teaching.

    I was just gifted this sewing machine today. I haven’t used it yet, but it hasn’t been used just in a box for many years . Seems to be working Great. Taking it apart seems intimidating. Exactly what areas do we need to oil and can you show us how to put the clip back on the dial or putting it back together after taking it apart

    I'd love to see a video (or just hear suggestions) on what NEW machines are made to last forever and have a metal frame, if there are any. I'm still sewing on an old Featherweight 221, and if I invest in a new machine, I want one built to last.

    This video was helpful. But was difficult to see where to oil the berrings with your hand in the way in all but one spot. Not trying to be critical, just an observation when I was trying to figure out where to put the oil. I hope I got it right. My big problem was the needle hitting the foot and metal plate. Took me quite a few hours, but finally figured out where the adjustment needed to be made. Perhaps another video showing this might be helpful to others. Thank you for the video!

    Does anyone know if the stitch Dial moves to the left on position 4? or is this just an example of stitch size on the machine ( - -- --- --- - ) so does it move from left to right 4 - 3 - 2 -1 - F -- 0.

    My sewing machine is breaking my needle due to that move you forced the needle to do. That is, the needle is now touching the metal plate.
    Is that a fixable problem?

    I have had this machine for many years - want to say at least 10. I only used it about once or twice a year. I suited me for basic sewing repairs. My mom started using it to sew masks and could not seem to get the tension right. Thinking it needs a service but those are pricey $90. Some suggest replace, but then not sure what model to replace. Brother XM2701 is only $100 on amazon but I am not sure it is as good as this one. What are your thoughts?

    Thank you. You explained how to get the covers off easy.
    The threading portion is breaking the threads. I rethread it from the beginning, than the thread breaks again. I changed the universal needles ten times on 50 face mask. What is wrong with the sewing machine? I still have enough patience to undo the whole machine and oil it.

    • @SewingMachineRepairGuy
      @SewingMachineRepairGuy  4 роки тому +1

      Make sure you have good high quality thread and make sure the tension is set in the middle.

    After watching your video, I am pretty sure I probably ought to oil my machine. I have a brother xl 2600i . In my 200 year old singer I used 3in1 oil. Do I need to get a different type of oil?
    We have moved 5 times in the last 3 years and my machine has been moved into and out of 4 storage buildings. Would I be better off taking it in and having it professionally cleaned??

    • @SewingMachineRepairGuy
      @SewingMachineRepairGuy  4 роки тому

      For the oil, my favorite is Tri-Flow. There is a link under the video. Also, if you are not comfortable doing a full cleaning, then yes a professional can help.

      You can’t lower the feed dogs you cover it with the darning plate that comes with the machine. It’s a little white plastic square.

    I have a brother xl2600i. I got 2016. I have a question about what stitch to use for a stretch fabric. It's Capri leggings. Of course mine machine does not look like this one but maybe I can at least get an answer anyway. Deeply appreciate it thanks ahead of time.

    Oh, I never realised these Brother sewing machines had no metal frame at all. It’s a very cheap mechanism. Are Singers just as bad?

    • @johnkelly60278
      @johnkelly60278 2 роки тому

      I think Singer don't skimp out on metal for the frame of the sewing machine. Sewing machines are made with precision and the metal frame is important these days where they're made mostly of plastic.
