i started listening to tool after ænima had already come out, somewhere around ‘97 or ‘98. i still remember the excitement and anxiety of getting my first NEW tool cd in 2001 and then having that same feeling in 2006. then i had the pleasure of seeing them live in ‘07 and again in ‘09. here i am at 38 yrs old with 2 kids (1 about to start freaking high school in 3 weeks) and i have that same excitement i did all those years ago. there aren’t too many bands out there that can do that.
I remember when I got undertow back when I was 20. I was at the local record store and the owner told me to check it out, been my favorite band ever since. With the internet now it makes it easier to stay updated.
I’m a bit younger (born 1990) but started listening to them heavily by 2003, got my first chance to see them live in 2005 (was also my very first concert), and was lucky enough to catch 10,000 Days on release day. Now going on 15+ years later and still listening to them daily, have seen them live 9 times across the country (was recently at the Birmingham show where album release date was first announced), and i can definitely say there’s no other musicians I’ve ever looked forward to new material from anywhere close to as much. Their music is a blessing, and the excitement to hear the new album in its entirety is off the charts!
Congratulations on that wonderful new feeling of Tool music chiming into your soul! Once you dig deeper into the lyrics you will be enriched in the ultimate glory. Also, don't forget to listen to "The Holy Gift" one day once everything starts to settle in.
Honestly, just listen to the albums in their entirety and allow each to grow onto you individually. You are so fortunate to have 7 different TOOL recordings at your fingertips upon arrival, as well as UA-cam to find the awe inspiring variations they perform live.
Total chills when I read the part about the potential announcement day being 10,000 days since Opiate’s release, then I checked the date and realised that’s later today...
I'm so glad that announcement hasn't been made yet so we can collectively laugh at people once again digging deeper than they need to in regards to Tool.
The anticipation appears it will have been well worth it. Thank you guys for sticking around thru the years, you're one of the few bands to make it alive out of the 90's.

August 30th can not come any faster! I've been awaiting this for so long. 10,000 Days came out a week before I graduated college, and 4 months before my mom died from cancer. I doubt any other song they make will evoke the nastalgic feeling that Wings For Marie does for me. My mother didn't spend 10,000 days in the fire, but battled til the end. She was supposed to die before I even graduated, but she lived 10 months longer than the Docs said, and was there at graduation, and used up her remaining life to see me graduate. She was never out of bed after that day. "To be son to angel, what have I done to be worthy?"
I am beyond excited for the new effort from Tool! I have been a fan for a long time and I will Never stop! This band has done a lot of music and I love it! I love this channel!

A lot of people don't want to hear the new music live, to be honest, in case of death due to any medical issues, I chose to listen to the new live songs, multiple times, mostly the ones in Alabama because it's more clear. I wanted to at least hear something new in case I go...again, I can understand people wanting to be patient, but I just wanted something new just in case something bad happens.
The new logo is truly beautiful, more than just pleasant to look at. There is a mystery to the phi ratio that humanity has been puzzled by since discovering it in our ancient past. It is no puzzle - it is a visual depiction of the fundamental principle of the Life expression seen in all things from the tiniest of plant growth to the structure of spiral galaxies. Thus, it reveals to us something of the expression of Divinity, and how Divinity operates throughout the vast spectrum of material existence in the Universe.

Well Katatonia has come in during Tool's absence and claimed their throne. I guess we may be finding out in roughly a month if Tool will be reclaiming the throne. I also hope that it will be a double disc CD set. I don't see how the CD could contain more than five or so tracks if the songs are really as long as claimed.
If they put their music on digital platforms... maybe August 30th is the official announcement plus all of their prior excellence finally being accessible. I have no problem with buying CDs, but there is something nice about being able to play multiple different albums from artists without having to swap out a disc.
An emotional awakening is very necessary... The evil within us and this world has been around long enough.. Be prepared..to have your third eye absolutely opened due to the upcoming amazingness ahead.. Continue the spiral till the end..
