Dr. O'Mara, like many commenters I first saw you on your interview with Dr. Berry. I'm 66 and day 77 of keto and day 63 of Carnivore. Doing well on eliminating insulin resistance/ metabolic syndrome which has increased my afterload through edema. Did my first 3-day fast this week with salt and water only. Will do weekly for eight weeks. Love your comments and MRI-documented examples. Started my sprint routine yesterday on my last day of fast. I'm so encouraged. Thanks so much.

Saw you on Dr. Ken Berry's channel. So glad i found you. You both encouraged me to make some lifestyle changes. Im 57 years old, overweight, and have high BP. Im starting today by eliminating processed food and alcohol. Thank you for giving me hope.
If you can do it full force all the better. If you're like me where I have only altered my diet partially, it is still worthwhile. I lost 30 lbs keeping to a good diet about half the time only and my BP went from 130/85 to 120/75 from the small changes of cutting about 2/3 of processed foods out and eating more "carnivore" foods. Now, if I could only get myself to do this lifestyle about 90% of the time.

If everyone follows this advice (unless you were allergic to yogurt or specific foods, which you can use the elimination diet, like carnivore, then reintroduce one at a time), then the big pharma would go broke within a few months. I’m 40 yo female. I started your sprints this week. I couldn’t believe it! I loved it. I had very vague knee pain but my son noticed I wasn’t striking with my toe but rather my heels. I slept so well I hope to continue the sprints. I also need to really stop the junk food going in. I still have coffee with just some milk and sardines for lunches at work. I really need to get this to work for me and I must stop sabotaging myself and get healthy.

Dr. Sean! I switched to sprinting for my run workouts and I am beginning to feel the difference. Took up resistance training again as well 2 1/2 years ago which has also helped. I'm still at about 17% BF. I'll be 65 in 2 months which is my goal date to lose another 10 lbs of that nasty fat! Thanks for all you do!

That 17% is Subcutaneous fat. Why are you talking about that? How many times does Sean have to say Visceral fat is the dangerous fat before people get it.
I’m a 49 year old 5’7” 130 pound healthy muscular menopausal woman with a very small amount of stubborn subcutaneous belly fat. I play tennis 2-4 times a week. Walk 3-5 miles a day. Weight lift 3 times a week, including core. Carnivore for over 6 months. Was keto and low carb last three years. I have the smallest amount of fat on my belly that just won’t budge. I rarely drink. Have had celiac since birth. Allergic to dairy too since birth. I’ve been struggling with sleep because of Dawn phenomenon, so I’m eating my last meal slightly later at 6:30-7 to prevent my blood sugar from dipping to low, waking me up at 3am.

Dr Sean, I’m on a partial carnivore lifestyle and have been struggling trying to stay consistent, following 5 joint surgeries in the last 3 years. I was very glad, & encouraged, to hear you speak of the alternative exercises to actual sprinting. I will soon be healed enough from a knee repair surgery to be able to use a recumbent bike to do some bike sprints. Thank you for your expertise and for sharing visceral fat information. Much of it will work for this 71 yo.

Greetings from Sioux Falls, SD. I have been making great progress since I started following you about a month ago! You inspired me to loose my visceral fat and I am feeling great aside from a grade I hamstring strain from sprinting my fourth sprinting workout less than a week ago. Now I am studying up on sprinting drills and technique as well as beefing up on injury prevention exercises. If you have any content to share in this regard, I think it would be useful for your viewers! Hamstring strains can really be frustrating and slow a person’s progress. As a physical therapist, I’m rehabbing quickly but others who injure themselves may not know how to properly rehab themselves. I’m on my way to being even more healthy and fit than I was. 54 years old feels great.
Yes. I am babying me left Achilles. Applying cold and then heat will help heal it. I fixed my right one. Also gentle stretches. Also strengthening the calf muscles. Any other advice?
@@drusillapalmer3758 if the pain is close to where the tendon attaches to the heel bone, I would focus on strengthening more than stretching and I wouldn’t do the strengthening with the heel dropping below the edge of a step as this could irritate insertional tendinopathy.
I regularly do 4 day fasts and they never get easier lol. I'm fairly decent now (6' about 178lbs) but after listening to you I got motivated to do better.
@@dgdaddy4289 Yes water and try to stay busy. For me personally it took about 5 months and the fasts still suck lol. I almost always have sardines so I’m not tempted to binge when I can finally eat.
@@ChristineRoy-ty7cg Yes. I lost close to 100lbs way too fast (years ago) and even though it wasn’t bad, I could still see it in a position like planks. However, it takes months (in my case anyways). So far it has tightened up big time but it took quite a while. Frustrating but rewarding imo. Dr Berry did a vid about this very subject 😊
@@ChristineRoy-ty7cg Also, it took months (I couldn’t tell you how many, I just remember it was long). I do remember after a month or 2 of PROLONG fasts, it didn’t* even seem to be making a dent. Awesome video. I have started a low carb lifestyle to lose a ton of weight. I started eating meat [🐖🐔🐠🐮]& saurerkraut. I notice my leaky gut is gone, I feel AMAzing, and I actually feel like walking. Dr Sean, I really appreciate what you are doing here. I started Keto July 2019 and by December I had lost 47lbs and improved my markers. Still had brain fog, cognitive decline and other issues. May of 2023 I started Keto-Vore then Carnivore, one meal a day, pretty much doing the list in this video. I’m down from 187lbs to 168lbs, with more health improvements. I’m still needing to lose a small amount stubborn belly fat, been making progress each day. Brain fog and congnitive decline are being stubborn. I am determined to be a healthy 70 year old male.
Can you 1 find your ideal body fat level? 2 when so, can you find from that your ideal weight? 3. Target you protein intake for that level. 4 fast track your results with 3 fasts once a week and 4 day fasts once a month.
Dr. Sean, your videos are fascinating and endlessly helpful. I've just started doing short sprints in the mornings for the first time in my life (45 years old)! Sprinting on a rebounder / trampoline is a great option for anyone just starting out, especially with joint issues. I have osteoarthritis and joint pain which the carnivore diet helps me keep in check. Today I was able to run on the treadmill at full speed with zero pain. Incredible! Thank you!!
you are awesome not too many doctors like you and I live too far to get scanned by you, I'm pretty good. I've had ultrasounds of my arteries and had normal readings due to the keto/carnivore way of eating (gave up the alcohol) feel great but the fat still hangs over a little...I'm an active gardener, walker.
Why aren't doctors around here talking about this? I'm really starting to question our medical system these days. Dr. O'Mara you're a saving grace. Thank you for giving us honest health information. Maybe other docs with follow your lead.
@@DrSeanOMara I think I'm going to stop going to them. Isn't it best to just get a good blood panels done, stay fit through lifting weights and doing some type of sprints, eating healthy 90% of time and working on keeping stress levels down. Seems that's the way to go. Maybe even add a MRI in there to see what visceral fat looks like.
The medical industry is toxic. Stay away from their tests, pills, masks, and needles. Seek information from men and women like this. Only in helping the body heal. Tragically most are spiritually blind and lost so they have no counsel there. 🕊❤️
Glad I found you on Dr Ken Berry’s podcast. I’m a 54 year old truck driver, and have been carb and sugar heavy for the last few years at least. I went straight carnivore 7 days ago, and have been sprinting every day. Now I am going to do it more aggressively, but every other day so I have time for my muscles to recover. It’s amazing how quickly I have seen results, and I am going to keep it up for life. Thank you so much for what you and Dr Berry are doing. I have always had a fairly positive outlook on life, but I am much more positive about the future.

Going to do the sprinting and fasting . Prob do omad with maybe a 2 day fast once a week and see how that feels . Doing just beef and eggs with very minimal dairy . Looking to optimize my life completely. I don’t like counting calories tried that for years l was counting fat to protein ratios on carnivore not sure if that is really doing much either . 42 yrs 150 lbs 5’10.

Mindfulness is much more than just positive thoughts. It is a prevention tool. I teach an evidence-based curriculum to kids in schools and through camps. It really does work in mitigating their stress levels. I will agree that once cortisol is already present, you should probably walk or run or find something to do to burn it off.
I just started doing ten 25 yard swim sprints resting in between I’m 62 with afib, extra weight, six six, heavily muscled and a crunching knee. No desire to do stationary bike sprints as it hurts my knee so hoping the swim sprints work

there was a recent breakthrough in superconductor research (Lk-99) that could potentially revolutionize technology, especially mri machines. this would be great since mri could be much smaller and more accessible, which in turn could revolutionize peoples overall health. keep spreading the good word!
I’ve taken your advice and have added sprinting into my health journey regimen, to help diminish these love handles. I’m doing it around 3-4 times per week, where I sprint for about 50-60 yards, jog back, and rest for about a minute, before resuming the sprint. I’m getting there, cannot get frustrated, and confident I’ll see results. Thanks again, Dr. O’Mara.
It’s my understanding that high intensity exercise raises cortisol and that’s the problem. It’s not just running but it’s people who go to the gym and work out and sweat for hours. It puts stress on the body. So sprints are like other exercises you can do with 20 or 30 seconds of quick movement like on a rebounder or jogging in place, and then you stop for, however many seconds, and then do it again so quick bolts. It doesn’t raise cortisol.
I would like to learn more about visceral fat in women. Also what can those of us who are older and have weak knees, not able to sprint, do for exorcise in order to help eliminate visceral fat? I adopted a carnivore lifestyle a year ago and lost 40 lbs, feeling so much better. At 70 what can I do other than sprinting, rowing or biking?

I've made progress in so many areas, but I still have to improve in a few to burn off this stubborn belly fat. Looking into the microbiome videos from you are my next step. I get good sleep; just not enough hours, so I need to get to bed a little earlier. Most of the other categories I have squared away, but I also need to get back to sprinting. I started and then we got hit with a heat wave, and bruised my heel (aggravated old injury). I like to work out my problems in my head while sprinting. Something about the body moving fast and breathing heavily really helps you to find Solutions even if it's just your mindset changing

I am 162 pounds 5 foot 9. I am following the Paul Saladino clean eating and started sprinting about six months ago. My body composition has changed. I do five 100-yard sprints every other day it’s amazing 100% agree. I used to walk 5 miles a day seven days a week. six months of sprinting. It’s amazing what your body can do.
Thank you Dr. Sean! I am learning so much from your UA-cam channel. I’ve seen you on a few other podcasts and on one you said visceral fat causes skin tags. If the visceral fat is lost do the current skin tags go away or does it just prevent new ones from forming? I’m TOFI and I think aiming to lose the skin tags I currently have would be a great motivator! Also losing the love handles you’ve talked about is probably #1!

I'm 64, started "sprinting in place" in the middle of my walks around my house ... just start pumping my arms and legs as hard as I can for about 60 seconds (think Flashdance?!😄). @@ChristineRoy-ty7cg We do 10 100 yard Sprints , two times a week. Actually they are more like 75 yards. 1st 25 yards is for gradually getting up to speed. Then hold the best you can to the finish line.
I came across you recently in a conversation with Dr. Berry. Seeing one of your slides of visceral fat horrified me. It was not of the trunk but of the muscles around the spine. I thought of all the weakness in my back and how I feel like I can’t fix my posture. My question is about the sprinting. I have bad knees and am obese. I don’t have access to a pool. Will other HIIT workouts give you the same type of benefit?
Dr Sean - I've watched a number of your videos and have some basic questions regarding fat. In this video you indicate there are five "compartments" for fat. Each of these compartments have a label (Visceral, Subcutaneous, etc.). The fat in these compartments are given the compartment name to differentiate them but that name does not explain anything about the characteristics of the fat. My questions: Is the fat contained in these compartments the same in structure, composition, etc. or are there factors that are unique to the fat in the various compartments? Do processes in the cell make the fat contents of the fat unique? Why does the fat go into a particular compartment and not another? Is there a hierarchy that causes fat to be deposited in one compartment (say subcutaneous) before fat is deposited in the visceral compartment? Does the fat loss process have a hierarchy like "last on first off", "every cell for itself", etc.? I'm working on the 7 points at the end. Thanks for the video.
"Fat cells have two types of receptors; Alpha- 2 and Beta- 2. Alpha- 2 receptors tell cells to store fat for later use, while Beta- 2 receptors tell cells to break down and release fat for immediate use." Other YT videos indicate that belly fat has fewer Beta-2 receptors than say the fat cells in your face. Hence, it is harder to lose belly fat since they have fewer Beta-2 receptors.
That would be me. I had a DexaFit body scan about three months ago. I had two pounds of visceral fat. When I went into menopause, I put on thirty pounds very quickly. According to Dr. Omara, he said that women gain visceral fat more in menopause so I’m working on it through diet, fasting and hopefully sprints soon.

Ok, I found this out the hard way... I lost 90 lbs slowly over 6 years, then gained 80 of it back in less than two years...😮😢 I have 2 hernias now..😢😢😢😢 Doing keto now and have lost 70 of it again...I can't have surgery till I lose probably 50 more😮 I'm in a jam now bc I can't do any core strength exercises bc of my hernias. Any suggestions? I know lose more., I'm working on it., But anything else?
I stopped drinking alcohol a while ago mostly because I saw it as pointless, also mostly because promises were made that it would improve my mental health, but it didn't change my life hating attitude or belly fat, which is upsetting because it was an easy cut to make. I still can't cut carbs because being on the autistic spectrum I have quite strong dislikes towards quite a lot of foods, so I'm sustaining myself on something that's not disgusting. if it is possible, it would be helpful for people like me to see an outline of doable baby steps that would help gain momentum for bigger strides. I did introduce sprinting into my life, it is more fun than I expected (I thought I hated running), but this alone hasn't changed my belly too, probably because I can't cut out all processed foods. thank you.

I have a thought about visceral fat in endurance athletes. Is it truly the endurance exercise causing the visceral fat, or is it caused more by the carbo-loading they do for the energy while training and competing? Did your runner example quit carb-loading as well? Thanks for the video!
Both distance running/endurance exercise as well as carb loading contribute to visceral fat. Often the two are done together for a perfect sinister storm that no one knows about least of all the person accumulating visceral fat. Get scanned!
@@DrSeanOMara I was a triathlete until I developed metabolic syndrome at the age of 52. It manifest itself as an inability for me to recover after a training session. I'm 61 years old now and have been Ketovore/ carnivore for the last 2 years and lost 90 lbs. After watching your videos my 63 year old brother and I began running wind sprints. Good video, thanks. I have a couple of questions, if your obese should you loose the weight first to make it easier to sprint or do both at once? And I'd really appreciate a video on how to start sprinting after years of not and being obese. I'm trying a short sharp run up a small hill to start me off, wouldn't call it a sprint cause I can't go fast enough!
Try jumping on a trampoline much easier on your joints - good luck I’ve lost 55 pounds have another 50 to go - try walking every day 20-30 minutes daily and some free hand weights strength training 2 x weekly

Yes, long term OMAD will absolutely limit the amount of muscle mass you will carry - short term it seems to be fine as long as protein is high on eating days and ur lifting heavy

What you are saying makes LOTS of sense. Can 70+ be doing serious strengthening exercises? If they do not have any Co morbidities like BP, thyroid, cardiac issues etc
Yes…..always recommend checking with your doctor to ensure you are fit enough (not how to get fit so much unless they are old & look & perform like gold they probably dont know how to get you healthy just how to prescribe medicine.
Dr OMara I love your videos and the message you're sending out. I'm currently trying to lose weight and undo years of damage as best I can, from living as a morbidly obese man. I have had an MRI done but it doesn't seem like a good quality one and it was very expensive. Do you have an office that accepts patients to come get scanned for a reasonable price and talk about our individual results? My doctor's out here don't have anything to say or think about the great things you're discussing regarding visceral fat.

Brenda, I’ve been using a stationary bike for now. I go as fast as I can for 20 seconds, and then I pedal slow for a few minutes. I then go fast again for 20 seconds and so on and so on.

Stress factor is my key issue. I am an artist, with huge existential stress on my poetic shoulders. When you said, that the stress is one big contributor to viceral fat accumulation, I all of a sudden recalled, how I 25 years ago started to develope stress-tolerance by somehow using potbelly as a source of sedative medication. As if by just having a belly, I would have constant benzo micro dosing machine in my blood stream. That might be a surviving mechanism. If the smart guy has also athletic body, he becomes challenger for current alpha-male. Growing the potbelly eases out the mating hierarchy conflict with local king kong.
Grain fed cattle produce nice fat marbling in the meat (muscle tissue), so I'm guessing that when YOU eat grains, you'll end up with fat deposits in your muscle tissue.

I'm 3 weeks into carnivore and getting stricter by the week. Fighting a serious carb and sugar addiction, but cravings are better the longer i do this. Doing well on eliminating insulin resistance/ metabolic syndrome which has increased my afterload through edema. Did my first 3-day fast this week with salt and water only. Saw you on Dr. Ken Berry's channel. So glad i found you. You both encouraged me to make some lifestyle changes. Im 57 years old, overweight, and have high BP. Im starting today by eliminating processed food and alcohol. Thank you for giving me hope.

If you can do it full force all the better. If you're like me where I have only altered my diet partially, it is still worthwhile. I lost 30 lbs keeping to a good diet about half the time only and my BP went from 130/85 to 120/75 from the small changes of cutting about 2/3 of processed foods out and eating more "carnivore" foods. Now, if I could only get myself to do this lifestyle about 90% of the time.

If everyone follows this advice (unless you were allergic to yogurt or specific foods, which you can use the elimination diet, like carnivore, then reintroduce one at a time), then the big pharma would go broke within a few months. I’m 40 yo female. I started your sprints this week. I couldn’t believe it! I loved it. I had very vague knee pain but my son noticed I wasn’t striking with my toe but rather my heels. I slept so well I hope to continue the sprints. I also need to really stop the junk food going in. I still have coffee with just some milk and sardines for lunches at work. I really need to get this to work for me and I must stop sabotaging myself and get healthy.

Use barefoot shoes or sprint with no shoes on the grass. Sprinting in running shoes is asking for injuries (they make it easier to heel strike).

Dr. Sean! I switched to sprinting for my run workouts and I am beginning to feel the difference. Took up resistance training again as well 2 1/2 years ago which has also helped. I'm still at about 17% BF. I'll be 65 in 2 months which is my goal date to lose another 10 lbs of that nasty fat! Thanks for all you do!

I’m a 49 year old 5’7” 130 pound healthy muscular menopausal woman with a very small amount of stubborn subcutaneous belly fat. I play tennis 2-4 times a week. Walk 3-5 miles a day. Weight lift 3 times a week, including core. Carnivore for over 6 months. Was keto and low carb last three years. I have the smallest amount of fat on my belly that just won’t budge. I rarely drink. Have had celiac since birth. Allergic to dairy too since birth. I’ve been struggling with sleep because of Dawn phenomenon, so I’m eating my last meal slightly later at 6:30-7 to prevent my blood sugar from dipping to low, waking me up at 3am.

Dr Sean, I’m on a partial carnivore lifestyle and have been struggling trying to stay consistent, following 5 joint surgeries in the last 3 years. I was very glad, & encouraged, to hear you speak of the alternative exercises to actual sprinting. I will soon be healed enough from a knee repair surgery to be able to use a recumbent bike to do some bike sprints.

You inspired me to loose my visceral fat and I am feeling great aside from a grade I hamstring strain from sprinting my fourth sprinting workout less than a week ago. Now I am studying up on sprinting drills and technique as well as beefing up on injury prevention exercises.

Hamstring strains can really be frustrating and slow a person’s progress. As a physical therapist, I’m rehabbing quickly but others who injure themselves may not know how to properly rehab themselves.

Yes. I am babying me left Achilles. Applying cold and then heat will help heal it. I fixed my right one. Also gentle stretches. Also strengthening the calf muscles. Any other advice?

@@drusillapalmer3758 if the pain is close to where the tendon attaches to the heel bone, I would focus on strengthening more than stretching and I wouldn’t do the strengthening with the heel dropping below the edge of a step as this could irritate insertional tendinopathy.
I’m 52 and just started sprinting (fast run working up to top speed sprint) as well. However, I over worked my calves at the gym a few days ago. Ugh.
I regularly do 4 day fasts and they never get easier lol. I'm fairly decent now (6' about 178lbs) but after listening to you I got motivated to do better.
Curious what you do to curb your hunger? What drinks besides water if any?
@@dgdaddy4289 Yes water and try to stay busy. For me personally it took about 5 months and the fasts still suck lol. I almost always have sardines so I’m not tempted to binge when I can finally eat.
Did you notice any tightening of your skin since you started regular four day fasts?
@@ChristineRoy-ty7cg Yes. I lost close to 100lbs way too fast (years ago) and even though it wasn’t bad, I could still see it in a position like planks.
However, it takes months (in my case anyways). So far it has tightened up big time but it took quite a while. Frustrating but rewarding imo.

Dr Sean, I really appreciate what you are doing here. I started Keto July 2019 and by December I had lost 47lbs and improved my markers. Still had brain fog, cognitive decline and other issues. May of 2023 I started Keto-Vore then Carnivore, one meal a day, pretty much doing the list in this video. I’m down from 187lbs to 168lbs, with more health improvements. I’m still needing to lose a small amount stubborn belly fat, been making progress each day. Brain fog and congnitive decline are being stubborn. I am determined to be a healthy 70 year old male.

Sprinting on a rebounder / trampoline is a great option for anyone just starting out, especially with joint issues. I have osteoarthritis and joint pain which the carnivore diet helps me keep in check. Today I was able to run on the treadmill at full speed with zero pain. Incredible! Thank you!!
you are awesome not too many doctors like you and I live too far to get scanned by you, I'm pretty good. I've had ultrasounds of my arteries and had normal readings due to the keto/carnivore way of eating (gave up the alcohol) feel great but the fat still hangs over a little...I'm an active gardener, walker.
Why aren't doctors around here talking about this? I'm really starting to question our medical system these days. Dr. O'Mara you're a saving grace. Thank you for giving us honest health information. Maybe other docs with follow your lead.

Isn't it best to just get a good blood panels done, stay fit through lifting weights and doing some type of sprints, eating healthy 90% of time and working on keeping stress levels down. Seems that's the way to go. Maybe even add a MRI in there to see what visceral fat looks like.

Glad I found you on Dr Ken Berry’s podcast. I’m a 54 year old truck driver, and have been carb and sugar heavy for the last few years at least.
I went straight carnivore 7 days ago, and have been sprinting every day. Now I am going to do it more aggressively, but every other day so I have time for my muscles to recover. It’s amazing how quickly I have seen results, and I am going to keep it up for life.

Mindfulness is much more than just positive thoughts. It is a prevention tool. I teach an evidence-based curriculum to kids in schools and through camps. It really does work in mitigating their stress levels. I will agree that once cortisol is already present, you should probably walk or run or find something to do to burn it off.

I’ve taken your advice and have added sprinting into my health journey regimen, to help diminish these love handles. I’m doing it around 3-4 times per week, where I sprint for about 50-60 yards, jog back, and rest for about a minute, before resuming the sprint. It’s my understanding that high intensity exercise raises cortisol and that’s the problem. It’s not just running but it’s people who go to the gym and work out and sweat for hours. It puts stress on the body. So sprints are like other exercises you can do with 20 or 30 seconds of quick movement like on a rebounder or jogging in place, and then you stop for, however many seconds, and then do it again so quick bolts. It doesn’t raise cortisol.
I would like to learn more about visceral fat in women. Also what can those of us who are older and have weak knees, not able to sprint, do for exorcise in order to help eliminate visceral fat? I adopted a carnivore lifestyle a year ago and lost 40 lbs, feeling so much better. At 70 what can I do other than sprinting, rowing or biking?

I am 162 pounds 5 foot 9. I am following the Paul Saladino clean eating and started sprinting about six months ago. My body composition has changed. I do five 100-yard sprints every other day it’s amazing 100% agree. I used to walk 5 miles a day seven days a week. six months of sprinting. It’s amazing what your body can do.

I came across you recently in a conversation with Dr. Berry. Seeing one of your slides of visceral fat horrified me. It was not of the trunk but of the muscles around the spine. I thought of all the weakness in my back and how I feel like I can’t fix my posture. My question is about the sprinting. I have bad knees and am obese. I don’t have access to a pool. Will other HIIT workouts give you the same type of benefit?
Dr Sean - I've watched a number of your videos and have some basic questions regarding fat. In this video you indicate there are five "compartments" for fat. Each of these compartments have a label (Visceral, Subcutaneous, etc.). The fat in these compartments are given the compartment name to differentiate them but that name does not explain anything about the characteristics of the fat. My questions: Is the fat contained in these compartments the same in structure, composition, etc. or are there factors that are unique to the fat in the various compartments? Do processes in the cell make the fat contents of the fat unique? Why does the fat go into a particular compartment and not another? Is there a hierarchy that causes fat to be deposited in one compartment (say subcutaneous) before fat is deposited in the visceral compartment? Does the fat loss process have a hierarchy like "last on first off", "every cell for itself", etc.? I'm working on the 7 points at the end. Thanks for the video.
"Fat cells have two types of receptors; Alpha- 2 and Beta- 2. Alpha- 2 receptors tell cells to store fat for later use, while Beta- 2 receptors tell cells to break down and release fat for immediate use." Other YT videos indicate that belly fat has fewer Beta-2 receptors than say the fat cells in your face. Hence, it is harder to lose belly fat since they have fewer Beta-2 receptors.

That would be me. I had a DexaFit body scan about three months ago. I had two pounds of visceral fat. When I went into menopause, I put on thirty pounds very quickly. According to Dr. Omara, he said that women gain visceral fat more in menopause so I’m working on it through diet, fasting and hopefully sprints soon.

I stopped drinking alcohol a while ago mostly because I saw it as pointless, also mostly because promises were made that it would improve my mental health, but it didn't change my life hating attitude or belly fat, which is upsetting because it was an easy cut to make. I still can't cut carbs because being on the autistic spectrum I have quite strong dislikes towards quite a lot of foods, so I'm sustaining myself on something that's not disgusting. if it is possible, it would be helpful for people like me to see an outline of doable baby steps that would help gain momentum for bigger strides. I did introduce sprinting into my life, it is more fun than I expected (I thought I hated running), but this alone hasn't changed my belly too, probably because I can't cut out all processed foods. thank you.

I like just NONchlorinated water ideally “living” with microbes naturally present such as from the ocean, natural spring , glacier or well.
I have a thought about visceral fat in endurance athletes. Is it truly the endurance exercise causing the visceral fat, or is it caused more by the carbo-loading they do for the energy while training and competing? Did your runner example quit carb-loading as well? Thanks for the video!
Both distance running/endurance exercise as well as carb loading contribute to visceral fat. Often the two are done together for a perfect sinister storm that no one knows about least of all the person accumulating visceral fat. Get scanned!
@@DrSeanOMara I was a triathlete until I developed metabolic syndrome at the age of 52. It manifest itself as an inability for me to recover after a training session. I'm 61 years old now and have been Ketovore/ carnivore for the last 2 years and lost 90 lbs. After watching your videos my 63 year old brother and I began running wind sprints. I have a couple of questions, if your obese should you loose the weight first to make it easier to sprint or do both at once?
And I'd really appreciate a video on how to start sprinting after years of not and being obese. I'm trying a short sharp run up a small hill to start me off, wouldn't call it a sprint cause I can't go fast enough!
Try jumping on a trampoline much easier on your joints - good luck I’ve lost 55 pounds have another 50 to go - try walking every day 20-30 minutes daily and some free hand weights strength training 2 x weekly

Yes, long term OMAD will absolutely limit the amount of muscle mass you will carry - short term it seems to be fine as long as protein is high on eating days and ur lifting heavy

Thank you Dr Shredded Sean for all that you do. Do you know Emmanuel Matadi’s diet, or at least what his diet was when he had that abdominal MRI scan taken? If you sprint often, does it allow for more carb intake? Is it better to sprint and eat some carbs vs don’t sprint & never eat carbs?
He ate back then clean mostly avoiding processed foods but admitted to some/“a little” ice cream. He was 22 I think

What you are saying makes LOTS of sense. Can 70+ be doing serious strengthening exercises? If they do not have any Co morbidities like BP, thyroid, cardiac issues etc
Yes…..always recommend checking with your doctor to ensure you are fit enough (not how to get fit so much unless they are old & look & perform like gold they probably dont know how to get you healthy just how to prescribe medicine.
Dr OMara I love your videos and the message you're sending out. I'm currently trying to lose weight and undo years of damage as best I can, from living as a morbidly obese man. I have had an MRI done but it doesn't seem like a good quality one and it was very expensive. Do you have an office that accepts patients to come get scanned for a reasonable price and talk about our individual results? My doctor's out here don't have anything to say or think about the great things you're discussing regarding visceral fat.

Sprinting with walking breaks in between is fine. If you're just doing 1 to 3 miles it's not over the top 😊

Brenda, I’ve been using a stationary bike for now. I go as fast as I can for 20 seconds, and then I pedal slow for a few minutes. I then go fast again for 20 seconds and so on and so on.

My job is carpet cleaning it’s constant cardio. I would think it’s equivalent to riding a bike for 2.5 hours at a time. I work alone and listen to your videos lol

Stress factor is my key issue.
I am an artist, with huge existential stress on my poetic shoulders.
When you said, that the stress is one big contributor to viceral fat accumulation, I all of a sudden recalled, how I 25 years ago started to develope stress-tolerance by somehow using potbelly as a source of sedative medication.
As if by just having a belly, I would have constant benzo micro dosing machine in my blood stream.
That might be a surviving mechanism. If the smart guy has also athletic body, he becomes challenger for current alpha-male. Growing the potbelly eases out the mating hierarchy conflict with local king kong.
Grain fed cattle produce nice fat marbling in the meat (muscle tissue), so I'm guessing that when YOU eat grains, you'll end up with fat deposits in your muscle tissue.

Cool sculpting and liposuction remove what is actually beneficial and do not remove visceral fat. Viscerral fat will just Re accumulate unless you start living better. Glad you enjoy the content.
Love your content...not a runner but love the stair climber at the gym usually do 50 floors before and after workout ...Im jumping up to several levels(5)for about1-2 minutes several times... thats my sprint 😅
