It’s important to know that when cooking Broccoli etc, cooking kills sulforaphane, so steam in a bag for no longer than 5 minutes maximum. Adding mustard seed powder when cooking boosts Sulforaphane levels. Broccoli seed sprouts have the highest levels of Sulforaphane and can be added to salads & sandwiches etc.

0:00: 🥦 Eating a Mediterranean style diet, which includes fresh, local, seasonal ingredients and is flavored with herbs, spices, nuts, and healthy oils like olive oil, can help in fighting body fat and raising metabolism.
11:06: 🐟 Eating seafood, particularly oily fish like salmon, can help activate brown fat and promote weight loss.
15:05: 📚 The speaker discusses the new science of metabolism and body fat, debunking myths and explaining how our bodies burn fat.
21:30: 📚 The study reveals that humans go through four phases of metabolism in their lifetime, with metabolism being hardwired and not changing significantly with age.
28:30: 🚗 Our metabolism is like the engine of a car, and the fuel for our body comes from the food we eat.
35:36: 🔑 Body fat serves multiple important functions in our bodies, including cushioning organs, storing fuel, acting as an endocrine organ, and providing heat through brown fat.
42:27: 🔥 Brown fat, which is metabolically active and helps to keep us warm, was discovered in adults through pet scans, and can be activated by cold temperatures or certain foods.
50:01: 🛒 Dr. William explains that certain foods can activate brown fat and boost metabolism, leading to fat burning and weight loss.
57:11: 📚 Being overweight or underweight is not healthy, and it is important to maintain a balanced metabolism through a healthy lifestyle.

I started fasting. 1 day of fruit only or fruit juice, and then 3 days of water fasting. 1 day of fruit, 3 days water only. Then I started 1 day of fruit juice and then up to 3 days dry fasting. I am now at an ideal weight, have no loose skin and water fast regularly 1 day per week and 3 days dry fasting at the full moon. I am healthy and fit @ 70 and look about 50 💃💃💃

This was interesting. I’m an elderly Swedish woman, a retired anaesthetist. About ten years ago I was 160 cm 68 kg.
I slept in a very big bed with my young teenage daughter, she could imitate my snoring. My snoring could even make me wake up. When I lost about 5 kg the snoring stopped. I understood it was some tissue in throat that made the clogged airway, now I learned it was the tongue.

loosing weight would be so much easier. 🌹🇸🇪

The gluten free bread tastes disgusting and aren't healthy. It has tons of ingredients too. I found Bread Alone Sourdough Rye and wow, is it good. I put olive oil, spices, raw garlic and sometimes a olive paste on the bread...great in soup. yummy and healthy.

And discussing food with my patients I have replaced the word diet with the word pattern. Instead of asking about their diet I asked about their eating patterns. The word diet is so negatively connected to restrictions and deprivation. I always focus on teaching them what they should eat instead of telling them what they cannot eat in the beginning hoping if they start eating the good stuff it will displace some of the bad stuff. I ask my cardiac patients to please eat a salad with low calorie dressing everyday adding a protein to the salad such as a hard boiled egg or tuna or cottage cheese. Then I ask them to eat one piece of fruit a day and take a multivitamin supplement. Those who comply with just those three requests generally begin losing weight immediately and have better Labs all around.

There is assumption that the longevity of people in Asia and the Mediterranean is ONLY connected to their diet, while not considering their genetics, lifestyle and their philosophy in life, work and faith. There are plenty of sugars and fats and processed foods and fat people in those regions. I’m not aware of any study that considers ALL the factors or even a narrow focused study that recognizes the other variable I mentioned above. We always see a good result in life and then look to their diet and copy that….it’s their fish, their olive oil, their wine, rice, bean sprouts, Whole Foods, non dairy, goat dairy, kelp, tofu, special fish, soy, tomatoes of the region , vinegars and it goes on and on and on

Yes, I agree…. I have gone to Europe a few times for about three weeks. Ate everything under the sun and lost a lot of weight also felt physically fantastic came back to the United States and started feeling very bad physically. I think it’s the foods here in America that are making us sick with disease. In Europe, they don’t add the same things to their foods as we do. For instance, there can of soda is only 50 cal and not as sweet. There is no fruitose corn syrup in it. Even their packaged cookies and other treats do not have that in it! If I consume wine, I only consume wine from Europe here in the states California wines use pesticides. So you are on point these people might eat the same things we do include process foods, but their process foods do not contain all the tax that in the United States are allowed.

I grew up with canned vegetables. My dad would never eat most vegetables unless they came out of a can...and then my mom boiled them until they were even mushier. That was 50's and 60's
When I graduated from Nursing school in 70's and moved away from home I started eating more veggies ... raw, or gently cooked to "al dente" and LOVED it. When I went home and cooked at my parents' ... my dad hated that he actually had to CHEW the veggies!

On a side note, can you have a podcast on the alarming increase in autism with autism awareness month aprroaching and the CDC announce the increase in prevalence to 1 in 36 (up from 1 in 10000 in 1970). I have 2 children with autism and have been treating children with ASD for over 20 years? It would be great to hear your functional perspective on the surge of this epidemic. Thank you!

I ALWAYS intermittent fast from 6pm until either 10am or noon EVERY DAY for the past 2 years, yet I cannot lose the belly fat. I am very thin elsewhere but not in the belly area. So I look pregnant. There is SOMETHING missing from the advice we are getting in order to lose belly fat when the answer is said to be fasting. I'm hoping to eventually find how to REALLY lose belly fat.

    • @tara296
      @tara296 11 місяців тому +2

Intermittent fasting for that duration is not the same as fasting for a full day or 2-3 days. Way more benefits fasting 1-3 days. Maybe it’s what you’re eating and more inflammation than “fat”. That’s what mine is. when I fast for 2 days it’s gone. Water even sometimes make me inflamed.

    • @barbieskates540

      Yes definitely.
However, you will want to soak them in water overnight, rinse and then soak in very hot water for an hour, drain AGAIN.... THEN cook.
It gets rid of the gass effect and makes them more digestable, and you get more nutrient benefit from them.

What is the answer for people with little or no leptin? Where hunger never turns off?? Difficult to see for people who have normal levels?? How can u raise leptin levels? Mounjaro Medication seems to do that. In taking it I feel like a normal person who isn’t hungry all the time. Obesity is a metabolic disease like cardiac disease or any chronic disease. However it seems medical people just rather make fun or condemn people with this disease of obesity.

Dr. Berg, Dr. Fung, Dr. Ekberg. Check them out. Your leptin levels will def come back when you find your intermittent fasting sweet spot, low carb diet, throw in some prolonged fasting you'll get there. But if you keep leaning on 'your obesity being a disease' which we can say it's a disease but it has been proven over and over that it's reversible so 😢 crying about it ain't going change nothing. Stop eating refined carbs, processed foods, drinking your calories and eating like a cow; several times a day, your body will have no other choice but to drop the fat and extra water weight. Period.

Go onto the ZOE UA-cam channel led by Professor Tim Spectre. They recommended eating 30 different veg a week to enhance your gut microbiome. Mushrooms are extremely good. It’s not just your Leptin level, but your grehlin levels too. One tells us we’re hungry. The other tells us we’re full. Monjuro and Ozempic target the GLP1 hormones in the gut. Watch Diary of a CEO on UA-cam with an Ozempic expert who did lots of research on weight and weight loss drugs.

Lectins are destroyed by high heat, so canned lectin foods should be safe as they are Pasteurized at about 270 F. One can also leach lectins out of, let's say beans by soaking them the day before 2 - 3 times and rinsing. Then sit overnight and repeat ay least once. After cooking dump the water, then do as one pleases. I make versions of Pork and Beans/soups etc. Pressure cooking also works
