You just witnessed rock legends paying tribute to rock gods
in front of said rock gods no less. i cant even imagine the pressure. and they absolutely nailed it. the best cover ever 👍👍
Well said
Well said
Totally agree! Nailed it!
Was there with both..
Ann Wilson singing Stairway to Heaven at 62 years old can go toe to toe with any current singer now ❤️
Yes indeed
Amen!
Exactly how I feel!
EASILY.
Not even a competition... that is her pure voice she did all of that without autotune
Only Ann Wilson could do it justice with The President, The First Lady and Led Zeppelin in the audience!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! - NO PRESSURE AT ALL!
And I saw Bonnie Raitt in the audience rockin' out. And YoYo Ma too I believe.
Debbie Allen and Steve Colbert,too.
Loved the show but the Odumbasses made me want to puke.
@@brucedillinger9448 YES MAM. YES SIR.
Heart are the only artist Led Zeppelin gave permission to preform their songs whenever they want
Truth
What on earth are you talking about? Anyone can perform a cover version of someone else's song. They may have given Heart their seal of approval - but that's all.
@@thegroovetube3247 yea that's true but The song's copyright owner must give you a mechanical license to do that, led Zeppelin owns the copyrights to that song. heart is the only ones they gave free will to play any of their music the rest has to pay to play it.
Very true !
Not so, you only need permission to record for sale, you can play any song live as long as you don't sell it
Jimmy Page reliving every note of that guitar solo.
their guitarist, Shane Fontane made Jimmy proud... freakin goosebumps man!
YUP.
Jason looks to the heavens to his dad smiling down.
He was so choked up he was crying, John Bonham's son and Heart's rendition just tore him apart!
Watching Robert Plant fighting back tears kills me. It’s for me to watch without crying.
So the drummer is John Bonham’s son and he was also known for wearing that hat which is why when the curtain went up and the entire chorus was there in the back and they all had the hat on it was so emotional one of the greatest performances ever And it seemed like Robert wasn’t smiling I think he was just so emotional that it was hard to contain it
That was also John Bonham's drum kit that he was playing.
@@LordGrokken I didn’t know that wow
Yeah I think Robert was lost in his feelings, he was clearly touched
I hadn’t realized the hat until just viewing it recently! Can’t tell you how many times I’ve seen this performance and not noticed the choir wearing the hat too!
Yes. Led Zep were told that no one from the Bonham family would be at the Kennedy Center to represent Bonzo. That was a smokescreen to cover for bringing Jason onstage and then featuring the choir with the hat tribute to John. Both were surprises for the band.
As others have mentioned, Bonzo was Robert's best friend, and Robert considers himself a father figure to Jason. Robert later said he was thinking of the senselessness of Bonzo's loss abd how much he wished John could be there to see Jason play abd to hear the tribute himself. He was holding on to powerful emotions, which he let go the moment Annie crushed that note at "to be a rock abd nit to RRRROOOOLLLLL." Thst was why he couldn't smike until.the end. But he was the first one up for the standing ovation.
We can'r even write moments this beautiful.
Fun fact: The drummer in that tribute is Jason Bonham, John Bonham’s son.
I saw that later in another version, amazing
REALLY??????
Hence the bowler hats: John Bonham’s headwear of choice :-)
@@pawoody4844 Those hats were perfect. Makes me cry every time.
Art Vandelay yeah, and I think the guitarist is Jimmy Pages nephew or something like that I could be wrong?
Plant was about to cry...He is the only one who never wanted to get back together... Best version ever!…... Gospel Singers..Wow who came up with that.. genius
Those are the Kennedy Centers
Choir.
Gospel idea comes from above..
@@carlalopez4820 Ooohhhh Yaehhh...!!!
I can even imagine the pressure of playing that song in front of the remaining members of Led Zep AND playing the solo in front of Jimmy! and with Robert Plant trying not to cry, and Jason looking up to Heaven in memory of his dad.. so much emotion....
Doesn't matter how many times I see this, it still gives me goosebumps, and so emotional, when I see Robert tear up 💗 Such a beautiful tribute!!!
Robert was near tears because he was thinking of his friend Bonzo.
He was also thinking of Bonzo's family not being invited. He was unaware that Bonzo's son Jason was going to play with Ann and Nancy.
You can read minds?
@@jonathansemler369 No, but he obviously read/saw later interviews in which Robert Plant said that. I saw them too.
@@ladyjane8855 exactly. Thanks, Lady Jane.
Yes, because Bonzo and Robert were friends and in bands together before LZ.
Apparently Robert Plant said that it was the first time he enjoyed a cover of the song. Heart were the bomb.
He cried. He was trying to hold it in. Robert Plant was extremely touched. Plus Jason Bano, their late drummer's son playing in honor of his father
They couldn't get a better female vocalist to pay tribute to Ledzep. She has a very powerful, clear and consistent voice.
NEVER FALTERED, NOT EVEN FOR ONE SECOND. THE BEST LIVE PERFOMANCE I HAVE EVER SEEN. I LOVED THIS. WHAT AN EXPERIENCE. ANN WILSON COMPARED THIS PERFORMANCE TO AN ORGASM. SERIOUSLY. I COMPLETELY UNDERSTAND WHY SHE WOUD SAY THAT. PERFECTION.
Great performance, I live Zeppelin, I love Heart..
How bout some props for Jason Bonham on drums.. John Bonham's son.
I saw in an interview (I can't remember who) where they said Robert Plant was very emotional watching John Bonham's son Jason, all grown up, playing drums like his Dad. Robert Plant and John Bonham were good friends before he tragically passed. I could listen to this performance daily ❤️
The asian guy you see rocking out in the audience is Yo Yo Ma, one of the most celebrated celloists of our day.
Every time I view this video I wonder why he gets the spotlight every now and then. Thank you.
I love him so much! Especially when he plays Bach Cello suite 1
@@Rosiepooh75 I'll check out Bach cello tomorrow morning.
What? It is Shane Fontayne
@@HuskyHawk66 one of the audience members was Yo Yo Ma, the celloist. You are right, Shane is playing on stage.
I would be extremely nervous at having to play that guitar solo in front of Jimmy Page
As you should LoL
As most would but Jimmy is a different kind of animal as a famous guitarist....he knows what he can and did do but he is always intrigued by others and appreciates everything ..he said in an interview.that you can always learn something new or different from others.. he is a very humble person
The only reason I would pick up a guitar in the same room with Jimmy would be to hand it to him.
One of the best covers I've ever heard. Led Zepplin loved their cover which to me is awesome!
I also wanted to say Heart and Led Zeppelin are very good friends and I’ve seen heart multiple times live they always do a Led Zeppelin cover and every show I’ve ever seen them do
Yes. Saw them 2019 and they covered Zep. Also covered Yes and nailed it!
Still tear up every time I listen...😘
Me too! So Amazing, Anns voice is so great!!
Damn straight.
@@frankmccollum1443 not one famous female singer these days that could even come close to Ann
Same
Jimmy's reaction during the solo is EVERYTHING. 😂
You're reaction was exciting to watch. ❤🥳
I never tire of watching ya'll react to this masterpiece. ❤❤
Reading thru comments so you know about Plant seeing Jason on drums and boller hat, RIP John.
Cred to Shayne Fontayne slaying his guitar, Jimmy seemed to enjoy.
Rated #1 Kennedy Center Honors live performance.
But you should check out Aretha Franklin and Carole King Honors too, if you haven't already...fabulous!! 👍🏽❤😎
I can't tell how many times I have seen this. The chills and tears. So touching all around especially Jason Bonham. Ann Wilson was beyond this world who can have words for this?
Amazing!!!! This was brilliant… what a tribute!! The drummer is the son of their deceased drummer.. died of alcohol poisoning!
They had good old Robert Plant teary eyed. Enough said. The greatest rendition to any song ever. I never get enough of it.
This makes me cry every goddamn time I watch this. LZ despises when others plays their music - in fact, they typically DO NOT ALLOW... they were truly proud, especially with Jason on the drums! ❤️ His Daddy is proud, too, watching from up above!
Robert was trying to hold back emotion. John Bonham was his closest friend. Jason playing drums was the icing on the cake. That's who Robert was smiling at.
Do you know what I like about you? When you enjoy a band you get to know them. You are a true fan. You are a true music enthusiast. You're a lovely human being!
No matter what Nancy is one of then best guitarists EVER
Awesome reaction, Everyone on that stage was thru the roof!! Omg.. It truly was Amazing..! Nancys guitar playing, Anns voice..... Wow!!!
I feel like this is the first time they heard their song the way us fans do . Amazing performance by Heart. !
Ann and Nancy Wilson had voices from heaven. Your reaction matches the enthusiasm of the those lucky enough to attend this Christmas performance.
I love the look on those guys faces as their own song was done all the measure it deserved and then some. The look of pride. But even better was when they started to jam along! Just a brief moment before they caught themselves, but OH YEAH!
Damn girl you're spot on with you're analysis! Best cover song i've ever heard and i've been Rocking for over 50 years!! They absolutely killed it!!!
Imagine the pressure of recreating Jimmy's legendary guitar solo when the master himself is watching you. He carried it off brilliantly.
Your reaction is priceless! I had no worries when I found out Ann and Nancy were doing the song. I grew up with Heart and Led Zeppelin! Ann and Nance are amazing too!
Best female rocker voice ever right there! And even her sis has a voice of an angel, love the couple songs she's done. These Dreams, I think was one?
Jimmy: Ha yeah! This is awesome!
Robert: Don't cry, don't cry, don't cry...
One of my favorite performances of all time!! So emotional with Jason on drums.. wearing the derby and the choir too!!! Just incredible! Robert so emotional.. all so proud of Hearts performance!!! ❤️
Now you need to listen to Heart, Barracuda, Crazy on you, Magic man.
Some of their stuff from the 80's and 90's is pretty good too. They were actually more popular, had bigger hits and more of them in their later phase but I do prefer the older songs by a little.
Ann's voice always makes me a little teary eyed.
What a voice she still has. I remember seeing this first time, I had chills. And broke out crying seeing Jason Bonham playing his dads drums. She put her own spin on the song so respectful of LED ZEPPELIN. she could have blown the roof down with her voice Jayy! But she didn't. Led zeppelin and heart were popular at same time..
wow..what a rendition ! the vocals, violins,guitar...everything ! wow...good job sweet mama
Ann Wilson was 62 when they performed this. It appears the Wilson sisters have nerves of steel.
Lovely reaction. Thank you!
Great review, you nailed it, so glad you know the history of Zeppelin and the members by name---OUTSTANDING!!!!
When he looks up and sees his DAD gets me every damn time
When you see a tear in Robert Plants eye.....you know you nailed it !
Great choice, the best tribute they deserved.
Fabulous, I've watched this video hundreds of times and it always brings tears to my eyes. To see the smiling and proud faces of John Paul and Jimmy Page contrasting with the sad and pensive look of Plant, God. What was he thinking, maybe remembering the first time he performed this masterpiece.
How lucky are those of us of a certain age to grow up with music as creative and of such a level as it was done in the sixties and seventies.
I love you reaction .
Keep on rocking, beautiful ❤
I'm 62.
Greetings from Barcelona
this performance gives me chills everytime.
Thank God I got to see this.
No one can match Ann's voice No one! Nancy absolutely kills that guitar. What a perfect performance!
Long live Led Drool on, long live Heart..and long live The Obamas!!!!!!! Robert Plant was crying and Nancy Wison can play a guitar and Ann Wilson's voice...OMG! WHAT A PERFECT TRIBUTE.
I’m amazed that someone disliked this! Heart did such a great job Girl power! 🤘🏻🤘🏻❤️❤️
The Queen of rock doing a tribute to the first Rock and roll super group. Page, Plant and Jones should be proud. It was done right.
Ann Wilson, singer of Heart, brought new material to UA-cam - Revolution starts here. Great song too.
Only Ann and Nancy Wilson could nail that song as they did and it brought tears to my eyes seeing Jason Bonham playing as good as his dad John.
Robert was trying not to cry.
Rock legends playing rock gods most famous song in front off said rock gods and slaying!!!!
Wow Jayy, just WOW!! 🤩 Your reaction was like Led Zeppelin reacting to Heart’s tribute!! You are not just a reactor, you are a true music analyst!! ❤️🙌🙌❤️ YOU just get better and your channel bigger and your booming sub count proves it!! 💞💞💞
You make this better. I love your deep and beautiful soul. This is the BEST EVER. FACT: Jason had on his Dad’s bowler and played his drums 🥁 !!! Zeppelin didn’t know Jason was even there. That’s why the GOLDEN ONE was so emotional!!! BEST COVER EVER!!!! ‼️🎶🎶🎶🎶❤️❤️😎
You are the best ZEP analyst I have ever heard!!! Thank-you‼️ I am 75 and I was BLESSED to have seen them four times. They played there buts off. Also I was blessed to speak and look at THE GOLDEN ONE face to face As you so well guided us through this beautiful journey. You are
my favorite musical 🎤 reacter. Listening to HEART as JASON PLAYS HIS DADS DRUM KIT AND KICKSASS‼️‼️👏👏👏❤️❤️🎶🎶❤️. Jason is also Roberts GODSON. THEY are the best band EVER👏👏👏👏‼️
Oooo yaaa!!!! Dive into Heart!!! I promise you you will not be disappointed
The tears building up in Robert Plant and Jimmy Page's eyes say it all. One of the greatest performances ever at the Kennedy Center Honors.
Legends honoring Legends …. I have watched this video hundreds of times.
Best tribute to one of or no, maybe the best song of best bands ever! So impressive cover of a most impressive moment in time, as well!!
Heart Was And Still Is Definitely Badassed!! What a Great Tribute which brought Tears to My Eyes!! Great to See the Reaction of the Remaining Led Zeppelin Band AND Seeing President Obama and Michelle's Presence As Well! (no pun intended on Zeppelin's album "Presence "!! HEART ROCKS!!
Holy ish! This is the first time I’m seeing Heart cover this song! They were Great!!!
We don't talk about ❤ enough.
rock Legends playing for the rock gods. freaking amazing!!
Performing in front of them,... no pressure there! WOW!! 👌
Best cover of all time. Nuff said.
First let me start by saying Jimmy Page is a God.. secondly, watching his reaction nd how much fun he had watching this was amazing. The Wilson Sisters are amazing, Nancy is extremely talented sa well, also extremely underrated as a guitarist and vocalist.!!!
I think Robert was reliving the past and was so very impressed at the sametime. Beautiful rendition!
The BEST KCH (in my opinion) tribute EVER in HISTORY!!
So that Asian guy rocking out in the front rows? Yeah that's Yo-Yo Ma, the greatest living cellist.
2012 Kennedy Center Honors. Led Zeppelin were being honored!!
Robert Plant was trying to hold back tears. I watched him push his tongue into the side of his mouth but he couldn't help it. A very emotional moment. A beautiful tribute to Led Zep. Edit to say: I love your reactions. Jason Bonham was on drums, son of John Bonham, that's one of the reasons it was such a beautiful tribute
I watched this for the first time with you! Back story...i grew up with both of these bands...WOW!!! Smh, Ann and Nancy nailed this song and did Led Zepplin proud!!!!!
I love the videos where you are just shook by the performance of the artist. The authenticity of your reactions is beautiful.
Imagine playing a tribute to Led Zeppelin... In front of the still living members of Led Zeppelin? With Jason Bonham on drums!
OMG Jayy, this rendition is such a heart wrenching occasion, with Robert Plant almost crying and Michelle Obama so much into it she is biting her lip. I luv this to bits and now have an eternal crush on Ann Wilson.
lol I think Robert was just so moved and into it, thus he didn't show emotion til the end....he's a big fan of Heart (and Ann Wilson's voice) so he was too overwhelmed to show any emotion (he was too busy taking it in).
Ann Wilson has an amazing voice
“I’m not even worried no more...” better words have never been said!
The power of music can overcome all....
I agree 💯
He was getting emotional.. Plant
Great reaction as always! The joy on your face says it all! I love watching the original band members faces while they are killing it. Robert Plant’s face is PRICELESS ♥️♥️♥️
HEYYYY Honey!!
It’s SO GREAT that you reacted to the Full Version of the performance!
This was the greatest TRIBUTE IVE EVER SEEN. BOW BOW BOW GREAT PERFORMANCE
how great was that! also from Kennedy Center Honors, check out Aretha Franklin singing A Natural Woman for Carole King...it's amazing!
Wilson sisters still kicking ass .... So wish John was there !!!
The Wilson’s killed it ! 💯🔥
The absolute best rendition I've ever heard period!
i will always remember this iconic, heart rendition with choirs excellent,to the guitarist takes alot of courage to play in front of zepplin and jimmy page i like to know who he was great job it was epic.it was a tibute every year at kennedy center.john boham son was on drums jason
To be alive today, out of all other days of eternity, I count my life a win to hear Heart's version of Stairway to Heaven.
#Breathless
This was the Kennedy Center Honors , A yearly event in November. I saw this when it came on TV, I was jumping and volume up. It was Amazing. You should look for other. Kennedy Center Honors of other years. The Led Zeppelin honors had Kenny Kravitz performing also but Heart ❤️ kicked Ass!
Heart is the best awesome performance.
Thanks. That's a genuine classic. So moving to see the guys. And Jason is as good as his Dad.
