Another lovely podcast. Interesting the history of your region. Your cardigan is looking so good. Thank you 🏴
So glad you enjoyed the video, Christine!
TU I ENJOYED UR PODCAST SO MUCH
I’m so glad you enjoyed the video, Hollie!
I just discovered your channel and I'm looking forward to your journeys! I use to live in DC and now I'm in Herndon VA. I love Fiber Space too but recently discovered TINT Makers Market in Falls Church. Small shop with lovely fabrics and yarn. I'm knitting a cardigan out of Kelbourne's Lucky Tweed and love it!
Thanks for sharing your podcast 🙂
Thanks Stephanie! I need to check out TINT - I’m not that far away from Falls Church. I’m always glad to hear of good yarn shops in the area!
I am doing my first brioche knit. It is challenging. I am doing a two color cowl knit along. sun dragon Art and Fiber tips and tricks have some excellent videos.
oooh! Good to know! I will check out Sun Dragon Art and Fiber. Thanks!
I learned Brioche about a year ago. The Craftsy class by N. Merchant was a solid basic course with printouts that teach you and provide exercises that she explains thoroughly. I also bought her book "Knitting Fresh Brioche". It had good educational text, plus charts to use in creating your own designs, as well as a handful of patterns that are fully developed and lovely. I thought both were well worth the investment. Not only is Brioche beautiful and challenging, it does get easier once you understand it. What I love is the fabric it makes - so squishy! My fingerless mitts feel great and also seem like they are warmer because of the squishiness.
Thanks Kathryn! Brioche does look SO attractive. I definitely want to get into it. Thanks for you helpful comments on the Craftsy class - and I’m going to look into that book.
Oh, it’s been more than 30 years since I visited the Torpedo Factory, thanks for the tour. I used to visit the DC area a lot when I lived on the east coast and I miss it. I tried knitting brioche years ago after reading about it in Elizabeth Zimmermans book, but I couldn’t figure it out, so I gave up. I have been wanting to give it another try, but I am going to knit up another first for me- a Fair Isle Kep! I have never knitted Fair Isle before and I just got the pattern. I am going to knit Anne Sinclairs Fisherman’s Kep. I have to wait 4 weeks to get the yarn. I decided to use Jamieson and Smith and go Fair isle all the way. LOL.😄
I have knitted Scandinavian sweaters and hats using 2 and 3 colors before, so I’m not nervous. Just excited. Looking forward to seeing your cardigan finished.
Hi Carin. Good to know I’m not the only one finding Brioche tricky! That Fisherman’s Kep pattern looks beautiful, and I think the tassel makes it fun. Enjoy your fair isle project!
