- Let's go to one of the best fiber festivals in North America! The first weekend of May is always the dates for the Maryland Sheep & Wool festival, and Yarncentrick was the Friday before. We'll head to both and see all the beautiful yarn, fleece and fun. And, I'll go through the yarn and wool haul I brought home. As always, I provide an update on the progress of my current knitting and spinning projects. Finally, there's a wonderful surprise treat at the end.

Fantastic podcast Melanie! I laughed out loud when you talked about ‘squishavision’! It was great to see all the loveliness at the sheep &wool show. Your soinning and all your knitting projects look great- you are such a talented fibre artist!
Wow! Thanks so much for your kind words, Beverly. I’m so glad you enjoyed the video!
Nice to see your latest podcast. Loved your beautiful shawl. Your sweater is looking nice. Thanks from Scotland 🏴
Thank you, Christine!!! I'm so glad you liked it.
I thought those sheep were about to don armor and go off to the crusades 😄
Loved watching, thanks for sharing ❤
So glad you enjoyed the video!
Hey there Melanie! Maryland sheep and wool looked awesome. I love Junction Fiber Mill, too! You got the best project bag from them. Your Stephen West shawl is beautiful, and I didn't notice the end until youpointed it out. 😄 Living in SoCal, I have knitted with plant fibers a lot. I always swatch with several needles and wash the swatch, sometimes in the washing machine, to get an idea of how the fabric will behave. I don't like the feel of plant fibers while I knit, but you get used to it, some feel nicer than others. I tried knitting with banana fiber, I ended up giving it away, I didn't like it at all! I like to knit my tees up in pieces and sew them together, I think having seams gives the fabric more structure. Using wooden needles does help, but if you are using a fine yarn, metal needles are good, I have no trouble, anyway, and I am also a good knitter. Thanks for showing the lambs, they ARE cute! Take care.😁
Thanks Carin! Those are very helpful tips on knitting cotton. And, I can see how seaming makes a lot of sense, because cotton knit garments with heavier yarn weights like DK and up can really s-t-r-e-t-c-h. Glad you enjoyed the video!
