New Mexico Knitting and Fiber Adventure! - Yarn Journeys Episode 23
Вставка
- Опубліковано 2 сер 2024
- Let's explore New Mexico! First, we head to the fortieth edition of the Mountain and Valley Wool Festival, where there's lots of fiber animals, hand dyed yarn and fiber and amazing vendors of all things woolly. We visit a couple Santa Fe yarn shops as part of the Enchanted Yarn Crawl. Of course, I'll do a big show and tell of acquisitions, finished objects (FOs) and works in progress (WIPs). Finally, we'll explore the beautiful landscapes of Ghost Ranch, the mountains around Santa Fe and the Badlands near Farmington. To cap it off, there's a solar eclipse!

That was totally stunning. Thanks so much for sharing that gorgeous scenery and the eclipse.
I am so glad you enjoyed it!! Btw, I look forward to getting more into your channel. I was in Rishikesh in 2009 and visited a shop that specialized in Indian textiles and wool, but I didn’t have the background that I do now so I didn’t have the appreciation. I wish I could teleport myself back to see what I had missed. Your shawls are beautiful!
Great episode. I always love your mix of topics and especially when you travel and can share an armchair view of places we may or may not be able to experience ourselves. Beautiful knitting, yarn and photos. Thank you!
Thanks so much, Deborah! I'm so glad you enjoyed the video.
I enjoyed your post!!
I am so glad! Thanks so much!
Such a lovely podcast with great footage of Mexico. Your red ranunculus will be so nice. Thanks from Scotland 🏴
I am so glad you enjoyed the video, Christine!
Melanie: an absolutely fabulous podcast, an amazing sampler of New Mexico. The yarn festival looked civilized, as in not being crazy busy.
The yarn shops were also incredible. However, I am a star gazer! Thanks to your husband that amazing photo of the Milky Way. Your pics were also amazing. Happy for you that you were able to find something so lovely from your Mom's stash.
I have not jumped on the ranunculus band wagon and not sure if I will. However, other podcasters that have knit it, often wear it over another article of clothing. Kelly of Knits n Pieces wears it over a dress (she is also a sewest) she is not a see through fan either.
Thanks for this. Sitting, knitting and drinking hot orange spiced tea.
Thanks so much for your kind words! I’m so glad you enjoyed the video.
Wow, what a treat. I loved hearing your stories about New Mexico, I loved getting a chance to see the Fiber festival and what was on offer. I am impressed with all the lovely Fiber and the gorgeous colours. Your walks looked amazing too. The landscapes were so special. I had not come across your podcast before, but I made sure to subscribe and will go back to watch some of your previous episodes! Love from London, UK
Thanks so much for your kind words, Ailien! I’m so glad you enjoyed the video.
Thank you for a great episode. We visited Sante Fe before Covid and lucked into an art festival next to the art museum. I, too, have not knit the Ranaculus for 2 reasons: I don’t like to jump on the bandwagon and I don’t buy patterns from Ravelry. I use Ravelry to search for patterns and will purchase the patterns only from other sites. Anyway, I am glad you had a marvelous trip!
I’m so glad you enjoyed the episode, Kathleen!
Melanie -another fabulous episode!! Loved your footage of the yarn festival and the beautiful landscape of New Mexico! What a wonderful gift of yarn your mother left you. The colour is perfect for you and whatever garment you make, it will be like getting a hug from your Mom every time you wear it. Just returned from a quick trip to Iceland- partly inspired by your trip there. We loved it and would like to return. Happy travels to you!
Hi Beverly! I’m so glad you enjoyed Iceland. What did you enjoy the most there? I just woke up to your lovely note in my hotel room, so happy travels are indeed going on! Some fun episodes are on the way . . .
@@YarnJourneys It is tough to pick just one highlight! Really enjoyed our day long tour of the Golden circle- especially seeing the sunrise while walking between the tectonic plates. Of course shopping at the Handknitting Association of Iceland was also a highlight! We were only in Iceland for four days but we would like to return and see the south coast. I look forward to your next beautiful video Melanie….safe travels and happy knitting 🧶
I love the shawl you are wearing in the video. What is the pattern?
It’s Andrea Mowry’s Birds of a Feather: www.ravelry.com/patterns/library/birds-of-a-feather-14. Glad you asked!!
and, I forgot to include one my knitting “rules”: if you are not happy with the project, don’t torture yourself… rip it out and move on!
I think I’m with you on that one!
