- In 1997 former members of Spirit - Ed Cassidy, Mike Nile, George Valuck assisted by Michael "Slinger" Carpenter performed a "Tribute to Randy California" show at The Little Bear in Evergreen, Colorado. Randy,who had been the key influence and driving force behind Spirit had recently passed away, and Ed wanted to "keep Spirit's music alive" and honor Randy with this tribute show. It was shot by Michael Laudel.
Saw this show in Evergreen. Always were my favorite band. Loved Randy and was devastated upon hearing of his passing.
I met Ed the night of this show. He talked to me for awhile, signed an album cover for me. He was a true gentleman. Love Spirit

Spirit was the best, most under rated progressive rock group ever. It was a privilege to meet Cass. Randy’s death was a great loss; very sad.

About 35 years ago I had a chance to see spirit in a large bar there were only about 200 people there the show was great but what I remember most is playing pinball for a hour before the show with Ed as you might expect he was very good
Spirit is a cool band- I saw then in OB at one of the beach bars where everybody smoked grass in the alley. I didn't see them after the gig - but it was a cool night
