Spirit is my favorite band of all time
👍😎👍
Wow! one of mine too
Mine!
Randy was just the nicest guy ~ and Ed was just the best. Rest in Joy and the best beats, men. Lucky angels. Thanks for this upload.
I met randy in 78 at the center stage in Detroit and became friends and pen pals he would call me when he came into town and leave backstage passes he warmed up for Alvin Lee at cobo hall in 1980 and brought me on the stage to watch all the people holding up lit lighters one of my greatest memories
I met Randy and Ed a few times. Great people! Glad you got to know him. That's a great memory! ❤
Spirit was a great band. I miss Randy California & Ed Cassidy.
Me too :-\
My favourite American band!
Same here. :)
On Spirit of 76 , Randy plays a version of LIKE A ROLLING STONE . It shows off his guitar skills very well . The rest of the album has many interesting songs too .
Dude, thank you so much for posting this! I've been on a big Spirit kick lately and there's not a lot of info about them in one place. Long overdue for a well-researched book or documentary. This is fantastic.
I found this album in a used record store in the late 80's. One of my best finds.
A documentary or a book or both would be fantastic. Unfortunately little visual material exists. The promotion efforts for Spirit were minimal.
The first four releases are solid. Randy and Ed's later efforts were very good but the original lineup was best.
This was on a 12" LP from Rhino titled "The Potatoland Interview Album" - which was a single-sided record with this interview. It came in a plain white sleeve. RNPRO 1984
Yep! I digitized this from my 12 inch. Bloody rare!
Thank you for this
My pleasure Janet. I hope you'll tune in to my radio show.
Thanks for the video. Spirit was very under rated, all of this talent.
Agreed. I wish they had not broken up. They defined what is now known as Ethereal in much of their early work.
Guisto! Grazi! :-D
Hendrix definitely influenced Randy. But Randy developed his own style and didn't mimic Jimi.
If you listen to Dark Eyed Woman from the Clear release you can hear the influence of Jimi in Randy's guitar solo.
