A few years ago, I started experiencing really intense heartburn when starting my runs. It would usually go away after about 10-15 minutes of running. I started to dread running. One way around it was to do a short bike ride before the run. Quite by accident, I discovered that eating raw ginger root (say 1" by 1" chunk) prior to the run stopped the heartburn. What a relief! I am still working, God knows it’s difficult but stopping would mean I would never move again because of pain. Been dealing with spinal stenosis for some years now, I do with exercises find relieve for my sciatic, but it returns just like the knee pain, weight is another problem I know, doctor says losing 1 pound is 4 off knees, thanks for listening and for sharing.
I’m so sorry you are going through all this. I truly don’t know whether you can make your knees 100% but I do know you have the right attitude. I have always found that if something isn’t working, look for something else that might:) obviously you have the medical side with medication, injections, PRP and stem cell, and surgery, but also diet, exercise, acupuncture, reiki, laser, and countless other techniques and approaches.
It certainly depends on what’s going on but I have found with my patients that glute, hip, and abdominal strength make a big difference as well as soft tissue work for the surrounding tissues.
Do you mind telling me what it could be, when I press or rub on the underside of both upper arms and on my leg muscles it is very sore and tender. I have this regardless of whether I exercise or not.
kristie ennis :; they say I don’t have lymes . I did have RMSF from a tick in 2015. The doctor just doesn’t know what it is. I eat pretty good, drink water mostly. My job is physical so after work I am unusually done for most of the day. I take lots of vitamins and few herbs. It’s just weird to be stiff and sore in my muscles, and having that soreness and tenderness when I rub many different areas even my stomach muscles. I have had chiropractic, massage therapy. I do need to get back to those two things.
@@melindaturner3311 just a thought, if you consume large amounts of diet soda or coffee, it depletes magnesium. I've also read that intake of larger amounts of calcium, vitamin D or zinc can also decreases magnesium absorption. Low magnesium can contribute to muscle cramping and tenderness. I've personally cut back on dairy and grains and I find I have less muscle cramping, but I've increase my intake of nuts and healthy fats. Incorporating magnesium rich foods that don't cause inflammation has helped me. I always look at natural fixes first and go from there to see if it makes a positive change.
Restrictions in the fascia can cause tenderness and stiffness in those areas reguardless of exercise (or even being worse after excercise) it can be painful to have worked on too. I suffer with myofascial pain and I have tenderness in those exact areas. Best of luck to yoou!
You lost me when you kept mentioning the evils of saturated fats, but only mentioned trans-fats in passing. Before you may have mentioned the "evils" of cholesterol, I left this video. I look forward to the day when your nutrition advice matches the great advice that you offer with stretching and exercise. I have faith that you'll get there one day. It's all good.
I did mention trans fat in the video because they are clearly not healthy as well:) you are better off eating unsaturated fats from an inflammatory stand point.
I take Amanda Hemp Full Spectrum 2000 CBD oils and tart cherry juice capsules every day and that combo has massively helped any of my inflammation and sore joints issues. Of course, as you stated, diet can make a massive improvement, also. My chiropractor is a big advocate for eating healthy to eliminate inflammation issues. Fun Fact: 1 cup spinach + 9 egg whites = super yummy low-cal breakfast. Its even better now because didn’t know that spinach was so beneficial.
Kristie: You mention 4 types of fat: saturated, unsaturated, transfat, and one other I can't remember its name. But you didn't give examples of each. For simplicity* please tell us which common fats are the healthy ones and which the unhealthy. Thank you. *The best city to live in.
Typically, foods like nuts, fatty fish, and avocados, olive oil (mostly mono and polyunsaturated fat) tend to be the type of fat to aim for the most. Artificial Trans fats are definitely not so great in the body and lots of foods are eliminating them. Typically they are found in pre packaged baked goods and fried foods. Anything that says hydrogenated or partially hydrogenated oil also counts as trans fat.
Believe it or not, they used to be my favorite! I’m all about moderation. I eat whole based nutrition 80%of the time and then allow myself to have things that I love like pizza, nachos, cheeseburgers, cake, and wine!
Some cocoa can be contaminated in the factory but often there are trace amounts. Many foods including rice, potatoes, greens, and others also have trace amounts. Just like anything else, don’t go overboard. And you can always contact the company if you have specific concerns.
I asked this same question of a world class runner Rod Dixon, who won the NY City Marathon in 1983. He avoids simple sugars even in sports drinks. I make my own sports drink with juice, (lemon fresh) salt, and clean water. Reverse Osmosis.
Good question. @@Enzo-tg8uo A friend of mine who is a type 2 diabetic advises he is allowed by his physician to eat fruit. But he isn't permitted to eat two fruit servings at once. "Health experts point out that the sugar in whole fruit is not associated with any adverse health effects, primarily because of how the fiber in the fruit slows down the body's absorption of the sugar." Lemons and Limes don't contain much sugar, only a gram or two per lemon or lime.
Going keto has helped with ME/fibromyalgia pain and inflammation and have very low carbs, which is sugar, no added sugars and high healthy fats. So yeah, that debunks much of your theory. If you watch The Diet Doctor on YT, a cardiologist who interviews other doctors, specialists and researchers re keto and health benefits that may help.

@@drkristieennis thank you
Blk Rose you’re welcome:)
Any execise to fix si joint dysfunction without surgery??
It certainly depends on what’s going on but I have found with my patients that glute, hip, and abdominal strength make a big difference as well as soft tissue work for the surrounding tissues.
Will this help with trigeminal neuralgia?
That’s a tough one. I don’t know that it will.
@@drkristieennis I have a request. Could you perhaps record a video with diet and exercises for trigeminal neuralgia please?
Are you sure saturated fats cause inflammation???
Yes:) lots of studies out there but some debate as to why and how much.
It's 2am. I'm 70 years old and I'm laying in bed Crying in PAIN🔥
🙁
Can you explain how Antabuse made a difference in your life?
The mechanism of action right now is certainly unknown, but my left sided neurological symptoms are gone:)
Do you mind telling me what it could be, when I press or rub on the underside of both upper arms and on my leg muscles it is very sore and tender. I have this regardless of whether I exercise or not.
Have you been checked for Fibromyalgia or Lyme?
kristie ennis :; they say I don’t have lymes .
"TUR-mur-ic"
New research shows saturated fat is actually good for you. But omega 6 unsaturated fats too much is bad for you, increase inflammations
yea cos the leading cause of death- heart disease is because of protein and carbs.. got it.
@@DroneRunner1975 too much crabs and sugar. Not protein
Fun Fact:
1 cup spinach + 9 egg whites = super yummy low-cal breakfast. Its even better now because didn’t know that spinach was so beneficial.
Thanks for sharing!
Thanks, I will try the cherry juice capsules. I take everything but the kitchen sink right now.
Melinda Turner let me know if it helps:)
This doesn't work with all chronic pain
Certainly there isn’t one thing that works for everyone but this can be helpful for a great many people:)
Built!
interesting
On the joys of living in the usa!
What do u think of MSM powder? If agree, how much?
I like it! Right now, there is no optimal dose set. Studies range from 1500mg to 7 grams. I take 3 grams twice a day.
Saturated fat is not bad for you
Hey I have chronic inflammation in my stomach any suggestions?
Have you been tested for small intestinal bacteria overgrowth? That can certainly cause a lot of issues. Also, do you take a probiotic?
Fiona, What happens when you eat some raw ginger root? Made my heartburn problems disappear!
I notice that your continually scratching yourself ?
KaCow!🙏🏻
You never had a Twinkie in your life 😂
Believe it or not, they used to be my favorite! I’m all about moderation. I eat whole based nutrition 80%of the time and then allow myself to have things that I love like pizza, nachos, cheeseburgers, cake, and wine!
@@drkristieennis thank you for that sensible bit of balance.
therocknrollcook you’re welcome 😊
Beware: The chocolate that she is promoting has a warning on the label for metal and lead 😡. Why would any health professional recommend this?
Some cocoa can be contaminated in the factory but often there are trace amounts. Many foods including rice, potatoes, greens, and others also have trace amounts. Just like anything else, don’t go overboard. And you can always contact the company if you have specific concerns.
You don’t look like you’re eating any Twinkie’s. 😎
We haven’t had twinkies in the house in a while but we do have nutty bars:)
Is the sugar in Gatorade bad for the body ?? If you are a runner running 25 miles a week. 🏃♂️
I asked this same question of a world class runner Rod Dixon, who won the NY City Marathon in 1983. He avoids simple sugars even in sports drinks. I make my own sports drink with juice, (lemon fresh) salt, and clean water. Reverse Osmosis.
@@gregwh2000 what about the sugar in fruit ? Should that also be avoided ?
Good question. @@Enzo-tg8uo A friend of mine who is a type 2 diabetic advises he is allowed by his physician to eat fruit. But he isn't permitted to eat two fruit servings at once. "Health experts point out that the sugar in whole fruit is not associated with any adverse health effects, primarily because of how the fiber in the fruit slows down the body's absorption of the sugar." Lemons and Limes don't contain much sugar, only a gram or two per lemon or lime.
Garbage
Great video but I don't think this helps once you have severe osteoarthritis.
I actually do have patients that see improvement with dietary changes so it’s worthwhile trying:)
Are you kidding?
Why all her fidgeting. Too much caffeine?
I’m just a mover:)
Dr. Berry says you can live on meat alone. He is very good
Is that a wedding band
Yup! Happily married for 16 years.
@@drkristieennis fantastic..I'm keeping hope alive. Love your channel!
I do agree with healthy fats and no added sugar. In the video, I do mention to watch saturated fat, which is the unhealthy fat.
Keto will kill your kidneys
I am inflammation free because of the carnivore diet. Sorry.
Wait you need to drink (4 ounces of tart cherry juice a day ??? Lol. Doesn’t it also help with bowel movements.🎊😅
That it does!:) fortunately, they do make a concentrate:)
Not to be picky because I really love your videos and information, but the word Tumeric is pronounced.
Tu mer ic not tu mare ic. No worries , I noticed a lot of people on UA-cam say it wrong. Cheers
Whoops! Thanks:)
Actually, it’s turmeric. Tur mer ic. You forgot the first r.
Both are wrong, the correct spelling is turmeric, the first “r” is not silent, the first syllable is accented.
The statement about fat is BS
The TV say to use Aspercream
Want less inflammation with diet- stop dairy foods. I think dairy is far far worse than any sugars
From a research perspective, sugar is the biggest culprit but certainly many people do have an issue with dairy.
I got rid of both. The impact of a non dairy diet was dramatic for me, I didn't get sick again for nearly 2 years! Eating sugar is like putting sand in your engine's crankcase.
Yes, very damaging.
Please please please fix your microphone
I do have a new one
Very distracting. Scratching your shoulders and adjusting your legs drove me nuts
I cycle at least 35k a day and do upper body workouts, but I'm obese! Sugar is my downfall 😩
Sugar is tough! Have you been able to get it out of your diet?
@@drkristieennis Thank you for the reply. No I can't get sugar out of my diet. It's a shame because I put in a lot of hard work training but fall short snacking on sugary foods. Night time is the worst time to indulge on what I shouldn't be eating. I can motivate myself to cycle distance but I find it hard to motivate myself to eat a good diet.
@@rogedoge204 do you have someone who could help you get it out of the house? It’s definitely easier if it’s not in front of you.
