Jim I want to send out a huge thank you. I recently lost my job and have a new baby, I don't even think they have these boards available anymore. So I would have had to buy a new dryer. Your video was exactly what I needed. Prayers for you and your family for taking the time to make this video to help others. Thank you!!!

Thank goodness for UA-cam and people like you that post these great videos. I was on my way to buy a new dryer when I went to the Kenmore site and plugged in F01 and they gave me the circuit board news. Then I saw your video right below their site.... Thanks!!! Works great and hopefully for a long time.

Jim, please know that you have made a difference in peoples' lives with this video. I had the dreaded F-01 error message this morning and was resigned to calling the appliance repairman. But I decided to Google the code and see what was involved. You headlined the comeback. Your instructions were spot on - I had the same splatter pattern on my PCB cover - and in truth, the hardest part was clearing out the laundry room and putting it back together!
I can't thank you enough for your help.

Thank you. This tutorial talked me through fixing the problem. It would have taken longer to wait for the service man to come and to get it done than it did for me to fix the problem myself. The thing that took the longest was to take the back off so that I could get the screw I dropped inside the housing. Great job!

    • @steeveedee8478

Be aware that this is POTENTIALLY a temp fix... Internally these relays spark each time the heavy current flows through the contacts. This burns the contacts and causes heat. The heat can go down the legs and damage the solder contact to the pcb. Eventually that contact seperates. Resoldering the contact/ adding a strap wire will allow the relay to work again but it will still have burnt contacts that will steadily get worse. A long term fix is to replace the relay which normally cost around $10, then you should be golden for about another 5-10 years.

Thank you Jim Dandy!!! After watching your video I went to local hardware store purchased a solder gun, solder, 16 AWG wire and tackled it exactly as you described in video. First time using a soldering gun and it worked!! Like others mentioned, the explosion splatter was very similar. I have a Kenmore Elite HE3 Gas Dryer. We've had it for almost 13 yrs and hope to get more milage out of it. We JUST recently replaced the valve coils, thermo sensor and flame ignitor (no heat) and it seemed to work just fine until we got the F1 Error code. Thanks to your video we're back in action!

Thank you, ours quit last night when trying to pack for a trip. All laundry facilities in the area were closed so our options were pretty close to 0 until morning. I was able to fix my Kenmore Elite HE5 Steam dryer after doing every test everything was pointing to the board, but seeing your video narrowed it down and I was able to solder and fix my dryer! Thank you, this repair fixed our Kenmore He3. You did a good job showing the needed steps without making the viewer watch unnecessary details. We bought the He3t washer and He3 dryer several years ago. We purchased a service contract for the washer. No contract on the dryer. So far this has proven to be a good choice. Absolutely amazing video!!! Thank you! My dryer had this same problem 2-3 years ago and I didn't bother to google much; I simply shelled out $200 or however much for a new board. Today it happened again and I was going to just buy a new dryer, but I decided to search a bit first -- found this video and an hour later my dryer is back up and running. Excellent work.
Note for those who run across this: The joint where the blow out occurred didn't take the solder the first time around. It was covered with black residue and I had to use my fingernail and scrape it clean. Once I got down to shiny metal I was able to successfully do the work.

Thank you Jim. I had the exact same issue. Took out the old soldering iron, found some nice flexible wire and voilà. Dryer working as a charm.

Late Saturday night...guests coming for the week in a few hours....Kenmore dryer throws a F01 code. Jim Dandy and his video to the rescue. Watched the video - exact same splatter mark. Added the wire (just like the video) and soldered the two terminals. Dryer works perfectly again. Big thank you!!!

Jim Dandy - THANK YOU!!! My wife told me that our Kenmore HE5T Dryer would not start so I check the thermal fuse as suggested on various sites and found that it was NOT the problem. Then, I came across your video. Symptoms were the same so I followed the steps that you showed. Sure enough, once I flipped over the board, it was evident that I had the same problem! Just like you showed, I soldered a jumper wire to the contact points, reassembled the board to the dryer and wal-la...It worked! Thank you again for sharing your video. It solved our problem and saved us some real $'s!!! Appreciate it!
