Thank you! I have never soldered b4 but I owned a solder gun and solder and Flux, so I gave it a try. My first attempt was unsuccessful, but I work at elderly housing and one of my elderly women previously had a job doing soldering on computer boards. I took her my tools and in a couple minutes she removed my unsuccessful solder and put on a new one. I reassemble the dryer and saved 350 dollars for the new part plus labor! Thank you for empowering us "do it yourselfers"!!

@@elizabethreyes4667 it’s mentioned on the video, around the 9:00 mark, it’s G8P-1A4P, with or without the dash. Amazon has them for a variety of prices. I’ve done this repair, easy to do if you can solder. $15 fix for what the service guy wanted to charge $280 for the board and $160 (here they charge $80 for the service call and $80 per hour labour) took me about an hour from start to finish. That includes taking the lid off the dryer removal of the board, desoldering and replacing the relay. That was 2 months ago, the dryer works fine. So, $15 vs $440 and it was fun to do

So, you are saving the planet as well. It helps that Amazon sends all the stuff next day, what a country! The internet is fulfilling its promise when videos like this are on it.

Saw this video and ordered the relay online. I re-soldered the melted connection and got several months of dryer starts before it failed again. Today, when it failed a second time, I pulled out the board and replaced the relay, and my machine is running like new again. Thanks for showing the inside of the relay; it really motivated me to order the replacement part.

You're video helped me fix our dryer! I have a super cool vintage soldering kit. We ordered the part off Amazon for $12. We also ordered the sucker bulb, but it never came, so we had to pick away the melted solder in tiny increments instead and I used a pointy soldering tool to "clean up" or holes (being as gentle as possible). Re-soldered it all, put it all back together and it worked like a charm. I am so thankful you made this video. You saved us a LOT of money and blessed us big time. We did laundry last night and celebrated!

Thank you very much. I had a hard time getting to it because it was stacked on the washer. Only thing I did different, just from experience, was wedge a shirt between drum and side wall in case anything fell. I hope the $11 part convinces the wife to allow me to buy a new soldering iron. Thanks again.

Thank you for the instructional video. Our dryer experienced this problem on Thursday January 21, 2021. I immediately went to UA-cam to research the F-01 code and found your video. It's Monday January 25, 2021, the dryer is fixed and we have successfully ran two loads in the dryer. The cost of the needed part was about $11 for the relay, $8 for the solder sucker tool. We owned a solder iron and socket wrench set. We did it thanks to your video!

Thank you, this is indeed the "Real Fix". I previously "repaired" my dryer re-soldering the failed solder connection. This did last for over a year, but it failed again due to another solder connection failing. This also ruined the pad on both connections, making the relay replacement more difficult. The increased resistance in the relay over time makes perfect sense, and replacement is the way to go the first time.

Thanks so much for this video!! The step-by-step instructions are excellent. Especially showing how to remove the solder and then resolder the new relay. I was getting an F40 code that was caused by no power to the motor control board. The relay contact having the solder melted away caused this loss of power to the control board so I was getting a code that wasn't actually the real problem. When I finally figured out that I needed to check this relay I was just about ready to go buy a new dryer. So our perfectly good dryer was saved by your video and a $10 relay. Thanks a bunch!!

I prdered the relay first since the dryer was still working was still working (albeit having to leave the dryer door open to stop it from tumbling.) When the part came I took it apart and fixed it exactly according to your video. Works like a charm. Thank you so much. Only suggestion I have is to go ahead and remove the metal plate that the board is attached to first because there is a release catch on the underside that makes it easier to detach from the dryer.

I though it would be a hassle to moved our stacked washer-dryer but as it turns out I could simply access it from the top. I soooo appreciate ginsboy2003 posting the video because I actually considered he hack repair video that involved soldering a wire to the board. But as he says, this does NOT fix the problem. Your comment that a high schooler can do this was totally legit. I took the Armed Services Vocational Aptitude Battery (ASVAB) test in high school and the Air Force told me that I qualitied for any job they had as long as I didn't try and fix any of their planes (no mechanical inclination whatsoever). Believe it or not, I actually made one of the quick fixes found on UA-cam that you mentioned a year ago and soldered one of the pins. Fixed the symptom for a year until it blew out the thermistor and heat fuse. Found this video and followed it step by step. $10 bucks in parts and $20 in equipment and its fixed. Thank you for making this video~

It was a bit hard getting the old solder off, but after I gently popped out the old relay, the new one fit in like a glove. After soldering...BINGO!!!! Thank you!

I just fixed mine today. Solder had melted off. I have ordered the relay but in order to get our sheets dry, I had to solder it temporarily to get it going again. Thanks for the great info.

FIXED! I would buy you a beer if I could! The only FYI I need to add is that there are two types of relays, 12V and 24V. My dryer runs on gas, so I needed the 12V. Thank you so VERY much! You saved me a lot of money!

Great instructions and advice. I ordered the relay on a Thursday, but the delivery takes 6 days. All the kids are coming home for Christmas break and they bring their laundry from school. So I installed the wire jumper as a temporary fix until the new relay comes. It’s working👍

I just did this this past weekend. It seriously took less than a hour. I bought a soldier sucker & solder wick from amazons for like $6 and the relay from there as well for $11. So less than $20 and less than a hour of my time.
I cleared a work area sat down, did the solder work and was done like in 10 min. I was like, “that’s it?” That was simple.
Reinstalled & reassembled and have a working dryer again!
    Thanks for the video!

Many thanks for the time you spent to explain how to repair the control board at a tiny fraction of its replacement. I did the job, following your instructions, and it only cost me $3 in a surplus shop for the relay while it would have cost me $320 to buy the control board. It was my first experience in welding on a electronic board. As I see, you helped hundreds of people like me. You really made a great contribution with this video! Thanks again.

I wish I would have seen your video before buttoning up everything after the "Rear Wire Repair" method. You're absolutely right, that Hot Relay is the problem, not the current traveling in the circuit board run. I will be ordering the relay soon.

This worked to fix my Maytag Maxima, saved me having to buy a whole new dryer since the control boards have been discontinued. GREATLY appreciate your video!

This is what UA-cam is about! Thanks for the detailed instructions. My control board was a bit different, but worked perfect. $30 on Amazon for relay and iron. Fixed in two days. My wife loves her Kenmore Elite dryer. This video allowed her to keep it. Thanks again!

By far the best video, explanation and repair of the problem. I ordered the $10 part and $30 soldering kit on Amazon. By following the instructions I was able to repair even though I had never soldered before. Saved a bunch of dough. Thanks very much.

Thank you for all your information sir. Followed everything to a T and it now works perfect again. I too had a hard time thinking about spending $350-$400 for a mother board. By simply replacing a $10 relay switch; this was by far the best choice I made and it proves anyone can do this with a little patience. It literally took 20-30 minutes to complete everything.

Greetings from Denver. I was getting ready to do the quick fix by soldering the burnt out connection today but came across your video and just ordered the part from amazon and the pad. I'd rather fix it correctly the first time. Thanks for making this video.

im so proud of myself I called my dad to tell him. I almost thought I ruined my circuit board or something because I completed missed the blue cord because its on pedestals and im really short! Haha once i plugged that in it was all done! Thanks for your step by step. I've never soldered a circuit board before. hardest part (for me) was getting the old relay off. I did have the solder sucker that actually came with the relay. Cheers from Texas. I have clean clothes again!
