    Thank you for your video!! While my issue was a start button failure, testing the thermal fuse and thermistor as well as the heating elements helped me eliminate other potential causes. My issue required replacing the control panel. Purchased from Parts Simple. I also vacuumed the dryer out.

    I just removed the two 1/4" head screws on the bottom access panel. Once that panel is removed I used a 1/4" wrench to loosen the screw holding the thermal fuse. I removed the wires with the help of needle nose pliers........ and it was bad. Thanks for the video!

    Thank you. I was able to replace the Thermal Fuse and get the dryer working again. I didn't have any testing tools, so I went ahead and replaced this part. $20 instead of a costly service call or biting the bullet on a whole new machine!

    I just wanted to say thank you for posting this. You saved me a lot of trouble!!! It was the thermistor, and I’d also like to say for anyone reading the comments if your dryer is 14 years old like mine you might want to take it all apart just to clean the lint out, it’s a fire waiting to happen

      Dryers should be cleaned yearly.
      I sometimes slack off, but after what I found the FIRST time I let it go for a few years, I clean it out yearly. AND the pipe in the slab leading to the outside, that one can get seriously restricted if it is long.

      @@gildebrandnicolas9601 Thermister determines if the clothes are dry or not by measuring the temperature. If your Thermister is bad, I think you can still use the timer dryer option. But if the Thermal fuse opens, the dryer will quit because this is for safety. Normally the thermal fuse opens at very high temperature. But I think it opens also after 10 years so you can buy another one from the manufacturer again.

    Thanks so much for this. Question - my washer & dryer are stacked in a cubby wall in a tiny bathroom (the builders built this house around the washer & dryer you'd think 🤨). That said, without removing my door & sink & the whole bathroom, I can't easily move & unplug the dryer. I have turned off the breaker & worked on it before but never replaced a fuse. Is it okay to flip the breaker & replace this fuse? It's been off for 2 days.

    Just FYI , if you replace your thermal fuse and it still wont start take out the "Machine Control electronics" board (following the instructions inside the dryer).
    Look at the back of the "Machine Control Electronics" board (opposite side of the components).
    Check the solder connections by the relay, if any are faulty re-flow the faulty one(s) with a soldering iron and some solder.
    I discovered this after doing ALL the standard trouble shooting with no abnormal result but still got the beep-click-no start.

    • @gibo588
      @gibo588 2 роки тому

      Just wondering how the relay solder will go open after 10 years. Do you think these are intentional from the manufacturer so you can buy another one? In our city the second hand selling dryer and washer is booming because of these facts.

    • @grumpycat5991
      @grumpycat5991 2 роки тому

      @@gibo588 I dont honestly know... One of the joints looked like it was a little "cold" but my guess is that relays vibrate and get hot and the two of those factors combined over the 10 years to mechanically break the solder joint.

    So what caused the fuse to blow??? Thermal fuses don't just blow for no reason, when they do it's a symptom of another problem (I'm guessing your thermistor was bad being that the reading was over 12k, when it should read around 10k at room temp). Further explanation would be helpful to your viewers.

    • @marknance183
      @marknance183 7 років тому +1

      Thanks for your question. I think the thermal fuse failed because my wife put too many clothes in the dryer and things got too hot. I suppose something else could've happened, but she told me she did this and it makes sense to me.
      The purpose of the fuse is to blow to prevent fires, and it did it's job.

    You need to address WHY the thermal fuse blew. Otherwise, it will just fail again. You probably have a venting issue. Just changing the thermal fuse really is a short-term stop gap. The dryer overheated to the point the thermal fuse blew, so the question is: why did that happen?

      The dryer lights up when plugged in, it just won't start. You can hear a clicking noise when it's trying to start. That's it though, it does nothing else. Do you think this is what's wrong with it? I should have looked at more video's. This looks to be the one most similar to mine. I don't have that tool, thought I'd gotten the right fuse. @@warlockmagic3416 - in my case, when it clicked and then shut off, it was a broken belt. The dryer senses that the drum isn't turning and shuts back off.
