    I’m only 11 minutes in, but I’m so glad the dispatcher took her mother seriously and took down the details of her ex boyfriend when she mentioned the history of abuse.

    • @jasminewright9504
      @jasminewright9504 4 роки тому +39

      Agreed , I like how the dispatcher handled the call . With care and compassion , saying she understand she is upset and would be do. She didn’t down play the mothers instinct , more then likely because any mother can relate to another mothers gut instinct . You have to take it serious

    • @sheenaalexis8710
      @sheenaalexis8710 4 роки тому +16

      Jasmine Wright I actually didn't find her overly compassionate. I also found her kind of rushing mom near the end. When mom kept explaining things she seemed to have the " ok ok hurry up attitude" don't get me wrong. She wasn't rude and she did take the info and seem to believe her. She did a decent job. I just didn't hear the extreme compassion yall heard lol

    • @jasminewright9504
      @jasminewright9504 4 роки тому +12

      Sheena Alexis87 I can totally see your point of view .i dont necessary think she was extreme with it , I think it was more realistic and what you would want / expect from a dispatcher if you were making that call . She heard her out , said she understood , for the information she needed and then she was done with it . They want to finish the call as quickly and accurately as possible and I think she did that

    • @sheenaalexis8710
      @sheenaalexis8710 4 роки тому +9

      Jasmine Wright yup! I totally agree. She wasn't rude in any way and I thought she did a fine job. I was just not hearing the compassion as much as others I guess. That's all I was referring to. But again, I agree she did an adaquite job and took her seriously. And that's all we truly want. To be taken seriously.

    • @callie17472
      @callie17472 4 роки тому +4

      Sheena Alexis87 I agree that towards the end of the call felt rushed. To me it sounded like the dispatcher was trying to listen but remain impartial so she could gather only factual information, since it really isn’t her job to dive into possible speculation at that point. I wouldn’t say she was extremely compassionate either but she listened and picked up important details, which is exactly what she’s there for. I could see it being very easy to get sucked into the situation and lose sight of whats really important when talking to a mother who’s emotional and just wants to find her daughter.

    The police dispatcher was so good at listening, taking info and allowing her to speak. People don't always appreciate how difficult that position must be. Kudos to her.

      I had that position, in California for urgent response and never have I had trouble hearing people out or being respectful in my job. It wasn’t hard at all, it was scary sometimes but I’m appalled at how 911 operations handles shit… she did ok but I’m flabbergasted that people think that it’s hard to hear someone out when that’s the job

    • @kaseysewick1691

      Seriously, I was pleasantly surprised by how well she just listened and collected info to help quickly. Some will interrupt , ask more things that’ll be said if they just get to talk and the little bit of rambling just reassuring her the cops would be coming to her to kinda break that thought and get her to release the line and wait for them as hard as it is.

But they likely had a small, private funeral and basically did what he wanted. If it's the last thing you get to do for your kid you're going to make it nice.

I work in the court system and there is a segment of the population who I see every day, day after day blaming their crimes on everybody beside themselves. And their mothers are always in the courtroom saying things like "No justice, no peace!" meanwhile their child forced sex on a woman or took someone's life. We have a MASSIVE problem in the USA when it comes to Domestic Violence and the fact that many of these cases could have actually been prevented if we could get a Bill passed to change Domestic Violence from a Misdemeanor to a Felony. Its DISGUSTING how much the system could SAVE lives but instead ( in my opinion) cost lives.
    I've been down this road unfortunately. I've had to get a restraining order, been to many shelters..u name it. It's not easy to escape a Domestic Violence situation when the law doesnt hold the perpetrator. People always say to victims " why dont you leave"? Here is one reason why many do not leave...
    Its EXTREMELY DIFFICULT without legal help, money and no family or support. Shelters allow a 30 day stay... how does anyone save enough for 1st, mo rent..last and deposit much less electric and so on?
    When the law arrests they literally allow the abuser to get out the VERY NEXT DAY.
    1st charge misdemeanor/ released on own recognizance (probably spelled wrong, lol)
    2nd charge misdemeanor/ $200 to bond out and a fine. No jail, no probation.. I could not even get a restraining order and believe me. I TRIED!!
    3rd charge misdemeanor/ $350 to bond out got 6 mo. Probation and I FINALLY was granted a 60 day restraining order( as if it worked, smh)
    After my ex broke his probation by violating the restraining order... he was in jail for less then 6 wks. So the 60 days on the TRO ( Temporary Restraining Order) were about run out. He was considered time served so no more probation and the restraining order was denied when I attempted to renew it. I had one of the arresting officers that interviewed me in the hospital try to help me get the restraining order renewed again but bottom line was this. My ex broke the previous one so why would another one help? I know its preposterous but that's EXACTLY what the judge said. ( he had family connections inside the crooked system as well so although I have no proof my gut tells me they had something to do with the restraining order situation.)
    What ever happen to the 3 strike rule???
    Anyway bottom line.... PLEASE PLEASE PLEASE write or call your congressman and state representative or start making noise online so maybe, just maybe as the system is to be "improved" due to the protests. Now is the time to address ALL CIVIL RIGHTS. Not only the systemic pigmentation racism. There is more then pigment involved when it comes to how poorly this system is set up. ALL TYPES OF VICTIMS ARE BEING KILLED because THIS SYSTEM allows it and should HAVE TO IMPROVE for humanity and children and their children.
    Unfortunately, I was trapped for many years. It took me so long to figure a way OUT that would not get me killed. This is truly a problem we can help to change... if folks ( some do some dont) would stop blaming the victim and say enough is enough. Lives WOULD be saved.
    ..And THANK YOU for covering such a topic. You are helping to make a difference and I'm truly so thankful for you. :)

    This case hits really close to home because I also live in New Jersey and it's very rare that something of this magnitutde occurs. It's so heartbreaking to know that the man responsible for ending her life is the same one who has caused harm to other women as well and often times domestic abusers are the ones responsible for killing their partners. Stephanie was such a beautiful young woman who didn't deserve any ounce of what she endured up until her very last breath. John may not be here on earth to pay for what he did, but karma will definitely get him even after death.

    Please cover the case of Wilma Andersson, she was a swedish 17 year old that disappeared 14 of November of last year, and 8-9 days later they found a body part (that they didn’t say which part, but they did say due to the discovery of it, they can conclude she is no longer alive) and they have never found the rest of the body. And they have arrested her 23 year old ex-boyfriend for suspicion of murder. I did find some articles that is on English!
    Update: they recently stated that the body part that was found were her head, in her ex-boyfriend’s apartment laying in a suitcase. So he decapitated her and saved her head, I guess as a trophy. He keeps claiming he’s innocent and that he didn’t know her head was in his apartment. But the evidence is pretty strong against him.

    omg! this happened in my town. my family knew the Parzes (my mom used to run a Girl Scout troop and Steph's sister was in the troop) and they went to school with us. their family is known for christmas decorations and this year they had a giant "Remember Stephanie" in their front yard in addition to tons of other decorations. so sad, but I'm so glad her family has closure. btw the killer's parents still live in the same house where he committed suicide... which is right down the road from me. the reason he was released from prison initially was so that the judges could see what he would do about the developing case concerning Stephanie. they had no other suspects at the time and basically they had him nailed down by then. the area she was found in had not been searched previously but there had been a search only 10 minutes away the week before :( because some exes have come out and said that he has a choking fetish, people here theorize that he began choking her during s*x and got carried away due to his anger, but still no cause of death has come out

    Please consider talking about the Maddie Bell case. The home life was dysfunctional (poor parenting decisions) and strict/anxiety/ control issues. I would enjoy your take on it. Maddie is 18 and went missing sunday morning after she told her mom she was going tanning. the car was found a block down from the tanning place at a parking lot church. The front tires of Maddie's car were turned hard to the left when it was parked, not straight. Like she was in a hurry. boyfriend said her keys were in ignition and phone was placed in an unusual spot within the car. Like a cup holder or something and that was not her habit. No sign of a struggle. Windows were up, car unlocked. Elderly couple witnessed white car was there at the church 9:45am white guy, shaggy hair, with a polo shirt, California plates. Maddie left her house at 10am.
    Mom said "Maddie's big dream was to live on the beach" the man in the parking lot had a white car with California plates...maybe just a coincidence . Why did her mom allow her boyfriend to live with them during her prime teenage years 13-18. this girl may have needed to get OUT. This same situation happened to my cousin. It kept him trapped in a relationship way, way too young. Age 13-18 is for self development and dating. there are social services for children at risk. It wasn't Maddie's job to fix his life. I do not think it was fair that at age 13 she had the pressure to "save" him or he would have no where to go. IM O

    also, just want to point this out since you did mention feeling sorry for his family. its a natural reaction, esp since they didnt ask for any of this and they did lose a child as well, but they also lost a child that was a murderer (a cold blooded, selfish, psychologically imbalanced one at that) and have not made one move to remedy the situation for the parze family. the ozbilgen's still vehemently deny that john's suicide note was a confession and have not contacted the parze family at all - not after her disappearance, not to help search, not after john confessed in his suicide note, and not even after her body was found. they maintain his innocence to this day. they read his note, his disgusting words about the woman he sent to her grave.. who was such a loved, innocent, beautiful soul and chose to side with/defend him. not even mentioning the allegations of child porn. i understand familial ties are deep but theres a line thats crossed here in my opinion and i dont think they deserve much sympathy at all

      Sounds like classic enabling parents. We must raise our kids to understand and internalize personal responsibility and consequences. Too many parents refuse to acknowledge their kids obvious problems and just defend them no matter what. Some boy in my neighborhood is always getting caught shoving little 13 year old girls at the bus stop and he even broke into or waltzed into a girls home when she was home alone and refused to leave and broke things. The whole neighborhood was fed up and his parents just deny deny deny and say people are attacking their kid and lying and the kid just stands behind them smirking. It doesn’t matter that multiple neutral parties witness these things he does. His parents just yell back and call people liars and their son continues to escalate his behavior. Unfortunately for those parents they couldn’t save their son when he got caught at school with a knife but they claim it was planted and they always planned to homeschool him anyway and blah blah blah.
