Pava was a young, inspiring entrepreneur who was loved by everyone around her. So when she went missing on September 25th, 2023, everyone around her took notice. Tragically, many missteps taken by those supposed to protect us lead to the horrible, gruesome murder of the beloved tech CEO.

@@taasmr4203your comment will most likely be deleted by her. Fyi. Mine was. Crazy how the comment section is for our thoughts but only if it suits them.
@@gitana6791 Thanks for your kind words.
Calling the victim of a brutal crime "stupid" is really disgusting. You're blaming her for opening a door? You have no idea what he said or how he presented himself. It's not her fault she got murdered. For opening a door most likely out of kindness & empathy.
@abbeyball6890 That kindness, empathy, and may be lust for black man makes her a college graduate stupid who was not a critical thinker despite being a college graduate. I am pretty sure that she rented that apartment because of its security system, but then why did she open the door at 11:15 p.m for a random black man in a city that is famous for its high violent crime rate?
I heard they are good
But when my husband fell in the hospital they don't take cases like that because they get paid by the hospitals
sexual offenders should NEVER EVER be let out of prison: they have good behaviour in prison but become monsters when they see women!😡
Yeah, seriously. If you are trapped in prison without women, you can't rape them...that doesn't count as good behavior.
How can it be “good” behavior when it’s controlled, limited & monitored?
Maybe if there were more thorough counseling than is available in us prisons, but there’s absolutely nothing to indicate how they will react when given control of their own decisions.
We should be able to hold judges & parole boards accountable. They’d be much more careful. Maybe they should just be required to have early release prisoners move into their neighborhoods.
@@gypsydonovan Well said.
I absolutely do NOT support early release in abuse and murder cases. Period.
Same here
Not in these types of murders,
@@joleneking5842any type of murder, period!
@@AlexKaneROTN I just mean for instance say a woman kills her husband because he's physically abusive and she snaps in a moment out of fear, I feel if she gets jailed she should get out way early, ( just an example,) of what I mean
My friend I grew up with was in a really abusive relationship. She had restraining orders against him but it didn't matter. He showed up at her home & stabbed her numerous times, in front of their 3 year old daughter. I really don't understand how people are capable of doing something like that-in front of your child. Absolutely devastating.
This was hard to get through. It’s very interesting you pointing out the pattern of leaving witnesses but once they are freed again they don’t make the same mistake twice- never really thought of it that way before. It’s so infuriating watching the worst of the worst being given the benefit of the doubt and released, but heaven forbid you don’t pay your taxes. Thank you for bringing this to our attention.
I know right. They go hard on the most random crimes yet have compassion for people who actually hurt others. It’s so backwards.

What happened to Pava LaPere is similar to what happened to Reagan Tokes. 🤦
Be careful, use discernment and keep your head on a 24/7 swivel.
Yes i agree with you 100%!!!! These perpetrators are evil & will not be rehabilitated.
This is especially tragic, Pava was such a kind-hearted person who made this world a better place. My heart goes out to her family 🕊
I know. Such an amazing woman taken from the world.
She was just so exceptional, with so much to give to the world. Her drive, enthusiasm and compassion for fellow humans was contagious.
I like your take on this case. These crimes, criminals and the leniency they receive have upset me since I was aware of them. My mother was a victim of such an attack. These criminals may deserve a chance at rehabilitation, but they should be intently scrutinized before being granted parole
This was such a sad case. To lose such a bright and talented woman is so sad. Rachel, I couldn't agree with you more! You couldn't have said it better!!!! This early release for violent offenders is a joke! It is putting others in danger, and who is thinking about the victims?!? Ahh! I just agree with you 10000000%! PREACH RACHEL!
This "good behaviour" crap really pisses me off. I watch a lot of parole hearings (it's a YT channel I follow), and they let rapists and pedophiles out early for good behaviour. Like you said... Ofcourse these offenders are going to appear to be model inmates, because they have no access to their preferred victim type (women and children).
People with good hearts who are as smart as Pava are rare. We can’t just lose one senselessly like this. 😭 I’m so sorry for the loss for her family, friends, and coworkers.
This should have never happened to the married couple nor Pava. This is sickening.
Wow! Im a born and raised baltimorian and I've never heard of this case! She seemed like an amazing person & it's so sad this happened to her. 💔
Rachel, I 100% agree with you!! Thank you for using your platform to stand up for the victims!! God bless!!
I’m from Baltimore, this had half the city so afraid, thanks for covering this!
I just want to say that the rant you gave around the 23rd minute mark really hit home for me. I was imprisoned for several years for a nonviolent crime and every year that went by in there I would watch sex offenders getting released early left and right for good behavior and it made me sick. Most offenders I met in there did less than 3 years. Everything you said about how you feel about these monsters getting continually rewarded with slaps on the wrist...I feel you. Thank you for saying it.
My prison was my abusive home both abusive mother n then abusive brother then abusive support
You are right! This case is so Infuriating!!! This happens way too many times when violent people get out early on “good” behavior. So messed up! Feel so sad for these victims 😞
How does someone with a violent sexual offense record get a job as a maintenance worker with access to people's residences?
No idea.
No vetting/background checks from the employer
A lot of maintenance jobs are under the table, he may not have even had to provide his SSN or they may just not have bothered to run a background check....also the construction trades hire tons of violent felons, they learn the trades in prison and contractors love the tax breaks they get for hiring felons.
THANK YOU for covering this case. this happened in my city & it’s very scary tbh. prayers to pava’s familyy.
BCP SUCKS ASS!!
It’s definitely such a scary case. Glad the monster has finally been caught.
@@RachelShannon yes i’m glad as well.
The countless good people of Baltimore just trying to survive honestly each & every day and looking out for each other - these folks deserve so much better and greater effective representation and advisory powers to make their lives better and those of the generations coming up. Baltimore & its residents are so special and it hurts my heart to hear about what people go through. Be safe 🙏🏼
(Born in D.C. but Baltimore stole my heart a long time ago. Love & strength from Montgomery County ❤)
I think you did a great job of letting us know who Pava was. She was the polar opposite of that gigantic monster.
Why do the justice system let these criminals out is insane 😢
Sometimes the fear of offending someone is greater than the fear for one's safety. Although in Pava's case it was probably just to be kind and trusting to this man. The added details about Pava's life made this case even more saddening.
Rachel, never, ever apologize about talking about the subject of your stories! You are making them into more than just victims of terrible crimes, you are giving them a voice they no longer have. It's a beautiful thing that's allows their legacy to live on. I think you do a excellent job and I appreciate you.❤❤
Thank you for sharing your thoughts along side the case too, your passion and care for victims is palpable
There at so many ambitious hardworking, successful good hearted women in the world, it’s tragic that she couldn’t finish her life goals of helping others 😢 to become successful 🥺
Just tragic. The relentless violence against women scares me every day. Like, what did we do? What can be done to keep these monsters behind bars once and for all after their FIRST offense? They should not be allowed the opportunity for there to be a second. Pava’s death could have 100000% been avoided, and she’d still be here breathing and changing lives. RIP angel.
Vote for hard on crime judge
We are hated n targetted by plenty insecure men n plenty jealous insecure women
I literally almost fell over a stool in my kitchen trying to turn off the video i was watching to put this one on when i saw the notification!! Lol!😂
You do such a wonderful job presenting the life of the victim. I get so excited when I see you have posted a video. Thank you for what you do ❤
Thanks so much! I was so happy with how much information I was able to find about her. It made the case that much more fun to research.
Hello Rachel and thanks for sharing this story.❤ Today is my birthday. 🎂🥳🎉
Happy birthday!!
Thank you so much for doing such a deep dive on This brilliant victim. She had more drive then 99% a people who are doubled in age of her . She definitely was our future. And to have someone so brilliant and beautiful and just such an inspiration to so many just to become a victim is just so heartbreaking. But I really thank you so much for letting us know all about her and just how impactful she was with all that she did to try and make this world a better place.
Agreed. I am happy I was able to find so much about her because she truly was such a brilliant young mind.
a healthy upbringing does that to you
Absolutely horrible. It’s so hard to grasp he was let out of prison 😮. Then set these poor folks on fire and rape and then murdering Pava 😢
Hey!!! I was let out of prison, why the shade?!?! OK, I’ve never been in prison… BUT if I had been, I’d been let out!!! Well, if I’d been let out, I’d been let out!!!! Otherwise, I guess I’d still be there. But you know what I mean!!
It’s almost like once he committed the crime against the couple his appetite for violence was reawakened. He probably figured he would be caught sooner or later so he had nothing to lose and attacked Pava. What a monster.
I’m totally with you, I’ve heard her case covered before and her death feels like such a loss for the whole world. It seems one would have been blessed to know her personally.
Oh yes of course they let this BEAST out of prison so he can go on and murder someone that's when they say oh maybe we should keep him in prison now.😡🤬🤬🤬 This angers me so much as well as others I'm sure. My heart goes out to the family and loved ones of Pava. 😣❣️
From my experience police don't see women as human beings or lives to be protected or saved they don't care
I appreciate when you talk a lot about the victim's life
❤️❤️❤️
Thank you for this story. It is truly a very disheartening one, a life so promising and not only talking the talk, but walking the walk.....for the whole world. God bless her and her family.
Too many judges have forgotten that prisons aren't just for punishment, they're for protecting good people from bad people.
It's a story we're all so tired of hearing; incident people don't because the system failed. There's no such thing as victim's rights. Thank you for sharing this story 🙏 what an amazing woman lost too young
she seems like an amazing, brilliant, young woman! she is extremely inspiring !
The early release system in america should be abolished. Violent people should never be released.
So frustrating how these criminals are let out only to re offend
Repeated violent offenses should never allow the person to even be CONSIDERED for ANY early release incentives!
I think they shouldn’t get out early!
Me either
Sometimes it takes someone to become a serial offender before these people get locked up for good
This is not acceptable
Not even then
A boy I knew in primary put plenty kids in hospital n killed a few of them one was my friend we were all 6 then
He continued to murder people growing up but in n out of jail for them
His final killing only led him to life in prison but after so many deaths
My other friends murderer ex stalking abuser only got 15 years
Such an infuriating case. So prevented and a real tragic lose. These monsters do not deserve early release. Those who argue they deserve a second chance, needs to accept their sentence and that 2nd chance comes only after serving his entire sentence. Anything less only encourages these crimes.
Thank you for being so passionate. It is an important topic. Early releases for sex and violence offenders? Because of good behavior in prison? That is ridiculous and extremely risky. Poor 😢 Pava, 💔, to die that early and that brutal way by the hands of this monster released early. The police data should paint a clear picture, i.e. that those offenders will not stop!
Agreed. It’s so tragic and predictable yet it keeps happening.
I live in Baltimore and didn’t know anything about this case. What I find really strange is that a similar case happened back in 2007. A business man, Rey Rivera, who was also not native to Baltimore but had relocated here for work, was found dead on the roof of The Belvedere Hotel in Mt. Vernon. I believe it was ruled a probable suicide, but many people believe otherwise. Especially with evidence pretty much outruling the possibility of suicide.
Horrific, such a HUGE void has been left not only in the lives of those who knew and loved her, but in the world, what a beautiful and amazing human being. So tragic. Deepest sympathies to all her family and friends, may she rest in peace, and her killer NEVER be set free again to do this to ANYONE else. R.I.P. Pava. 😢❤
So happy you’re covering this case. Such a compelling case
I knew I had to cover it the second I saw it. Pava had so much more to offer.
You're so right Rachel, it really is irritating; like rape, sexual and/or physical assault and repeat offenders are not taken seriously enough!
Omg, I haven’t gotten this worked up over a video in awhile! The police dropped the ball so bad! The justice system screwed up too! That monster should have never been on the streets to have the opportunity to murder this sweet, bright, INNOCENT woman!! They also should have had his face all over the news after he started two people on fire! Like, come on! Who cares if he went “underground” as the police said in their news conference. At least he wouldn’t have been above ground to go on to commit another horrendous act! This one had my blood boiling!
I agree with you 10000%. Violent and/or sexual offenders should never be let out. Let alone let out early!! I can’t believe the police didn’t think out was necessary to alert the public. If Jason had served his original sentence of 30 years, Pava would still be with us continuing to make the world a better place. This is a total failure of the Justice system.
I feel so grief stricken, this amazing, bright, talented, hard working, kind and beautiful young woman should and would have gone on to do unbelievably well in the world... Just, why ?
Those that believe these violent felons should be able to get out on good behavior need to have them living in THEIR neighborhoods around their FAMILIES.
I completely agree with your thinking. Violent offenders...especially those with a rap sheet, have lost their chance for early release. If you get a chance, llisten to the Mayor of Baltimore's press confrences regarding this perp. He is so open about his feelings and is fighting hard to make the change!
I absolutely adore you you are so right about the early release in my opinion. I love that you stay true to your views. I am constantly listening to true crime. Mostly in the background but you're one of the channels I love so I actually find myself sitting and just watching the whole thing. Thank you for all your hard work! You should be very proud bc you truly are an inspiration as well. ❤
This is especially devastating. This could’ve been avoided Pava would still be alive. They never should’ve let him out early period. RIP Pava :))…
And there is no capital punishment in Maryland.
Only 26 years old, with a brilliant mind and big heart ... What an amazing woman, doing SO MUCH, for so many people!
Incredibly tragic and heartbreaking 💔
A huge loss to this world - RIP Pava 🙏🏻🕊
What an exceptional young woman Pava was. We need more young people eager to change their communities instead of just trying to take the quick and dirty approach and dreaming of becoming a social influencer. 😵💫😖
isn't it great that the powers that be continue to release these monsters from prison to wreak havoc on all of us?
But god forbid someone who got arrested for having a baggy of weed gets out!!! I swear the justice system WANTS violence on the streets.
I agree with you wholeheartedly regarding all topics relating to this case. It should never have happened 😢
It really shouldn’t have
❤️
Violent offenders should not be eligable for early release. Period. Idc how u were in prison.
I live in Baltimore and had not heard of this case. Ty for covering
Right there with you on this Rachel. Being well behaved locked up and supervised with only other men has nothing to do with how they will behave when released. Too much care for violent offenders and not enough to keep the innocent public safe. I love your shows and all of your content. Sending love from Down Under. ❤
This happened so close to my house- so scary
I love your opionion bc that could’ve been me in this situation
Police must be held accountable for being so incompetent.
Surprised that he was denied bail !
I love this podcast and everything you do Rachel.......therefore I feel comfortable to forward a philosophy that says: "Please don't feed the wildlife, bears, or other animals, as they will lose the ability to care for themselves and become dangerous nuisiances".
Agree with you 100%, I’m sorry but how many times do we have to see that a repeat offender is back in prison, but this time for murder…it’s sadly common and beyond maddening. If you’re a violent sex offender you do not deserve freedom. It has been shown time and time again that these monsters cannot be rehabilitated. Don’t even get me started on the ones who commit crimes against children but somehow get multiple chances to be released to inflict more pain and trauma…. I will never understand how this is okay.
No Rachel no!!! Girl I love your channel, watch all your videos, please do NOT advertise for Morgan & Morgan. They're crooks.
What makes you say that? Not doubting you, I just want more information. I got very lucky and didn’t need an injury lawyer since the price of my medical bills before insurance was so high the car insurance company didn’t have any option but to pay the money I was entitled to, so I don’t have a lot of experience with injury lawyers.
I remember this story very sad. I was wondering how he got into pava apartment 😢.
He is sick should of been in jail
Agreed
This. This is the horrific loss that really changes the world. That makes you think...how clear good and evil really are. You don't think you could fathom it...and yet....
Many blessing of love and light to you all. Every second counts.
This is why I think the system isn’t set up to put every black person in prison because I’ve seen so many black criminals set free. Before anyone attacks me I’m also black. Rest in peace beautiful 🙏🏽
That would be a result of the overwhelming majority of inmates being BIPOC 😒 violent yt folks get released early all the time too
GOOD AFTERNOON RACHEL IM CHILLING WITH MY TRUE CRIME
No matter the crime, I hate the concept of time off for "good behavior". Their bad behavior got them in jail in the first place. Plus, being good is easy when surrounded by armed guards and razor wire.
tbh idk living in the US isnt as safe as she makes it sound lol
i feel like its about as close to living in a warzone as you can get without ACTUALLY living in a warzone, with how many random shootings/mass shootings we have.
I agree they shouldn't have an early release opportunity
Thank you Rachel ❤
This is such a sad case. I often say when a young person or child is taken, you never know what they could have fone gor the whole of the world perhaps cure cancer. I truly truly believe Pava was on her way to improve and help all. I hope her team can continue to build on from what she started. RIP PAVA❤....I share your opinion on the early release they gave Jason more than a second chance. Hopefully this time he WONT ever be released
I was almost taken n killed so many times as a child
But I was abused n almost killed at home too
So I'm suffering cptsd n struggling to leave my home or live n trust
But I did dream of doing a lot to help people all throughout my teens n childhood
But I was constantly targetted n attacked n abused throughout my life even after childhood
I'm a shell of a person now
I feel I don't deserve to be here
N maybe these people deserve to be here more
Great coverage!
Literally bought me to tears hearing her father speak
Omg He should Have Never Been Let out
I am really starting to enjoy your channel. Thank you so much for the videos.
If someone could explain to me just how children being murdered in Syria, which she states as due to money, how does teaching people to become entrepreneurs make any difference. I feel that it just doesn’t relate and that this isn’t about supporting people but about making money 🤔 What am I not seeing? I feel that she was very manipulative.
Love your videos ❤
Hey !!! can u do a video about Matt petgrave “ accidentally “ sliting Adam Johnson’s throat during a hockey game on Oct 28,23.
He was arrested for manslaughter. Ppl think it was intentional.
I thought their second chance was going to jail. And not like in the old days when members of the community just formed a mob and "took em out". No?
That's where I'm from. She looks extremely familiar 😢
Only 5% goes to actually charity announced.. so with high salaries as these type do, F ALL end up going to those in need!!!!
Wonder if police chief will get promoted this year !
If he was using the excuse of being a matenance worker the air handlers for ac units on big buildings are on the roof.Prob how he got her up there .
I agree with you 100 percent, he should of never been released. Violent offenders will never be able to live around society without reoffending, it's just who they are. They should not be allowed early release knowing how violent they are. This woman was someone that was changing the world for the better and was snuffed out by a violent reoffender. How is that in any way a good thing for anybody or anything??????? These so called law makers are just as guilty as he is for this woman's murder. How the hell do they sleep at night, knowing this??????? Assholes!!!! Sorry I just get so angry about this kind of thing. Anyway great video Racheal.🙂🙂
American justice system is a joke, criminals have more rights than victims. Until law enforcement makes a change, a judge makes a change, harsher penalties this mayhem will continue. You have to have consequences for criminals and they might think twice. The whole eye for an eye etc works
Those people w rosy glasses need to look at the rates of recidivism among sex offenders. And unless someone has been violently or even drugged & raped how the heck would they understand?
Mimi from Montana
This case is to close to home. As a parent who's daughter was raped. I have struggled with not wanting to cause harm to the bastard. Instead I watch and help my daugter. My daughter now struggles with dark thoughts of harming herself. Weekly therapy session, medication to cope due to what happened to her. She spoke and did what she knew was right. She was told not enough evidence. Well the bastard did it again and now will go to court. People who cause harm should never be released. I watch the daily struggles for the last three years of my bright beautiful daughter and wish that my grandfather was alive to take him fishing so that I could bake a cake for his family at his funeral. These bastards have all kinds of anger and are a ticking time bomb and the law is written for them and not the victims in most cases.
The irony is wild. No ones safety is guaranteed i guess. Ugh
I was so confused on what I was watching 😅that clip was way too long I thought I clicked on another video I had to fast forward lol.sheeze
The authority failed her.
Judges or laws will change if something happens to there loved ones. That is the world.
Give a second change sure let give him a spot next to the judges house. Thats not gonna happen. So they let them out and waited all that time in jail to do it again. Knowing he wont get punished but just put in a jail with food etc etc
Horrible
