Almost up there with Bug in terms of weakness's.
Not as crazy as ice though, poor ice Pokemon can't catch a break
They should not have given dragon a third weakness from a lore perspective. Dragons are supposed to be some of the strongest/ toughest creatures to fight, they don't need to be terrible numbers of weaknesses

That's what I'm saying, they got it rough, worse than bug, "ice types can't catch a break" meaning more often than not they suck. fighting, rock, steel, and fire, not to mention all the things that resist it like water and steel, ice is probably one of if not the worst type in the game. Even grass types that have more weaknesses have more uses.
Will never understand why they had to nerf dragon so hard. The entire purpose of it was to be a rare and hard to tackle typing, which is why so many legendaries were dragon
Because every legendary and pseudo had a dragon 7/9 are dragon, so dragon became too powerful.
However the made the dumbest decision to balance a powerful type with 2 weaknesses, with a new powerful type with 2 weaknesses

Still more psychic legendaries then there are dragon, and still more psychic pokemon in general then there are dragon. Even 1 of the pseudo legendaries, Metagross, is a psychic type... even if yeah the other 8 are dragon. Not wrong though in the only 2 weaknesses, fire should've not only resisted it but been a weakness for fairy types, bug could've been an option, or ice even if it's already super effective against dragon. It'd give ice types more value since people rarely use them as is.
Hit me hard, my 2nd favorite Pokemon became Hydreigon in gen 5... then immediately next gen it's super nerfed with a double fairy weakness. Even when psychic got nerfed, it wasn't hit as hard, and the majority of legendaries are still psychic type rather than dragon. Not to mention certain dragons did get nerfed in gen 5, freeze dry becoming super effective on water types essentially gave Kingdra and Palkia a double weakness instead of having only 1 weakness.
@@Blaze4ification true, but psychic has more than 2 weaknesses, and on average dragon has a higher stat value, and can have different spreads. Psychic is traditionally high special stats, while dragon can be mixed, or either attack stats, with decent bulk stats buffed by dragons resistances. Which adds to the pile where dragons were overbearing. Don't get me wrong fairy is nice, but i feel it can be just as bad as the problem it was made to dela with

Yeah but like dragon they didn't used to have 3 weaknesses, heck just like dragon in gen 1 they basically had no weaknesses, bug types and bug moves were too weak, I don't think there were ghost moves... no lick but again too weak, while dragon had ice types, ice beam, blizzard, of which all water types can also learn (unless gimmicky like Magicarp) along with other dragons. Psychic as a result did get another weakness in gen 2, but... the only reliable dark type was evolving your Eevee at night into Umbreon, everything else post game. Even modern day, psychic has been slowly with each passing generation more and more balanced, but it's still powerful and abundant.
That's the difference and why I was agreeing, psychic type still is numerous and powerful, whereas dragon got hit super hard by trying to balance it. Their power was in their variety and diversity, being able to learn other many moves not of their type. Also same, I love fairy as a concept and type, a few of my favorite Pokemon are fairy type like Gardevoir or Sylveon, it just hurt dragons too much compared to when psychic type got nerfed, of which it still arguably isn't, it is more balanced modern day. If they added a new type to balance they should've added another to balance out fairy type too, or given it a 3rd weakness. Because as a result then it unbalanced dark type, a type that didn't need another weakness, was balanced fine, but got fairy type added too (so my poor Hydreigon got a double weakness), thus nerfing 2 types. Dark like fairy back in the day also had an immunity to what it was balancing, and 2 weaknesses. The only Pokemon this really balanced out that were dark type... were the 2 Pokemon with no weaknesses Spiritomb and Sableye (especially if mega Sableye was preplanned). What should've been done was 2 new types, make them weak to each other, 1 super effective on dark, the other on dragon, and maybe 1 other weakness to 2 other types, fairy would keep the poison and steel weaknesses probably, while the other type got 2 other weaknesses, maybe ice because ice despite being good against dragon is hardly used.
At least that's what I think, especially as someone who has thought up 2 more types and balanced them all out. It could've been handled... better to say the least, now I'm just hoping for a regional Hydreigon that's poison type to seek revenge (and because... I mean technically it should've been in the 1st place, in all mythology it has one of the most deadly venoms and acids on the planet, like the Basilisk is the only thing possibly more venomous or acidic).

Its common sense, dragons weak to ice and fairy cuz, ice can extinct them and fairy cuz they are fairy tales, (dragon too cuz why not, only weakness to a powerfull creature woould be another powerfull creature)
