ICBC should give a $100 yearly discount to every driver who mounts a dashcam in their car. And if we already have cameras for built in "safety" features in new cars, why do they not just incorporate those cameras into a built-in dashcam for every vehicle?
Agreed! It would keep people accountable at least knowing that everything they do is recorded. I think manufacturers don't want to put them in because of the extra cost that they would need to pass onto the consumer. I mean Tesla's have them but they have the worst cameras known to man. Thanks for watching
ICBC's main goal in all accidents is to blame both parties.
ICBC would probably charge you more cause then they actually have to put in the effort of watching the footage and not just blaming the victim by defeault
all cars should be required by law to have front and back working cameras and if you submit a video to the police of a dangerous driver you get a 50. reward....think of how many idiots that would get tickets and charged on video alone. it works for red light cameras they are legal why not expand on that concept
@@RichardSMaloney why don't you go live in China? overthere, bad drivers are publicly shamed by having their faces being posted on billboards for everyone to see...a little communist like you will like it there...
Great stuff - keep up the excellent work. As a Lower Mainland resident, I have seen so many issues on our roads. I have a dashcam now and will likely be sendi8ng you some uploads in the future.
Thanks! Ya they're a must in Vancouver
@4:36 Avanash was 100% in the right and it's not even a question of him having a green light. When you make a turn, you should turn into the NEAREST lane, which for the other driver would be the LEFT (or center) lane. He did a turn and a lane change together ending up in the right hand lane cutting off Avanash who was making a legal right hand turn. Drivers are doing this a lot and it's illegal and dangerous. The clip shows why.
@7:10 Yup, the guy failed to yield, but the cammer saw that and reacted, slowed and dodged and rather than just letting the other driver through (ie: be safe), he pressed on causing a worse hazard. Driving isn't a competitive sport.
5:20 I have a rule about driving. If I miss my turn, I get to the next turn and, if necessary, find a way to LEGALLY turn around or backtrack at that point. When a person fails miserably at trip management, no one else should suffer.
You make my day every time time you upload the drivers are scary and funny at the same time is especially the parking fails instance karma are clips of the day.
haha glad to be of service
So first of all, some people have no spatial skills to speak of and will struggle to get through doorways when walking.
We allow (for some reason) these same people to basically weaponize personal transportation.
I refuse to believe that bear wasnt obliterated by that oncoming white sedan 😢
I don't think so but it was close!
6:06 The City of Coquitlam IMO really got to change the intersection design. City needs to either add lights and not allow right turn on red or merge the two-lane traffic into one before allowing the turn.
2:01 I like how that guy in the white car passes between the uprights of the "Annacis Island" sign, that was very skillfull!
Thanks for another great video. Scary stuff out there to keep an eye out for.
Lies again? Bell Helmets
The jaywalker at the end 😂😂
7:00 this one on capilano road is the shortest highway on ramp i've ever seen. some of the vancouver road designers should at least try the stupid road they design before they get on to the next one
True.... especially the westbound on ramp at Boundary road!
@@vancouversworstdrivers Yes, and the ramp from Dollarton onto Ironworkers Bridge southbound used to be another one of those, before the recent changes.
As well, the exit from Stanley park onto Lions Gate bridge was another "gun it and pray" on-ramp.
That on ramp is so dangerous. People always merge while entering the highway at a speed of a slug.
I love your work bro hope you get millions of people on your channel. That would be so awesome 👌
1:52 that civic was indeed going fast but I bet some better tires would have allowed him to make that corner
4:30 People that think Avinash is in the wrong really need to read the book. He has the right of way and the grey vehicle turned into a 2 lane illegally.
Yesterday I got honked and yelled at for not yielding my roundabout right of way. I know everyone who wants a license gets one trivially, but roundabouts are on the written test.
The underground parkade video is definitely in Metrotown.
0:45 and the Tesla the Honda Bumped :D # Hondabump
I can't bear to watch that last clip 😉
-_____________- haha
had me in the first half.
1:30 I've seen a lot of people take that advanced left super late like that. It make it worse with how huge the intersection is.
Is it just me or do these videos just keep getting better and better?
Haha thanks
Haha you’re welcome
Oh geez that bear must have learned road-crossing skills from the Canada geese.
Another great compilation. I mean not so great, no wonder our Insurance rates are so high! There's a great discussion over on the Victoria BC Subreddit about red light runners. Sad that people just have so much disregard for driving now.
That bear likes to eat my blueberries🙄
I just find it hard to believe that at 6:28 the Corolla, even with a back up camera and rear sensors as it looks like a higher trim version, still somehow manages to back into the Passat.
at 0:47seconds was my favourite must be old man driving the car.
2:57 looks to me like that driver is playing with "Seafoam". Look it up LOL.
6:36 perfect example why I reverse park so I can leave faster without causing problems I see more people having trouble backing out.
1:55 That driver in a 10th Gen Honda Civic Hatchback is overspeeding on the highway and avoiding the speed limit resulting a crash. "This ain't the autobahn, hot rodder."
Econoboxes (referring to functionality, not price necessarily) and commute appliances have such terrible handling characteristics when pushed to even 6/10, but people drive them like race cars. So many crashes from them being floored while turning.
Guy with the snow covered car... I was in Winnipeg in the winter crossing a side street, almost got run over buy a van. The diver had cleared a one foot long, scraper width hole in the snow on the windshield... that was it. I also heard that a snow covered vehicle driver was ticketed in Winnipeg, in the winter, for having an "unsecured load" because the car was covered in snow!
That blue minivan leaving a trail of smoke looks familiar to another minivan I saw in Windsor Ontario that left a trail of white smoke they both must have had a engine defect I was told it was a cracked engine block. But holy smokes talk about a road hazard you could not see in front of you or across the street that’s how thick the smoke was.
7:00 BC highways are just so underdeveloped.... how can you have a yield lane like that on a major highway. It should be a merge lane with plenty of room for the merging traffic to speed up.
That on-ramp from Capilano to Hwy. 1 westbound before the Capilano bridge is terrible and dangerous - infamous on the north shore ! It was designed back in the 1960's or something, and basically sets you up to fail. You have to go from a slow turn at around 20 km/h, to accelerate to 80-100 km/h so you can match the traffic and find a gap in it. Merging at speed is actually better, but you do have to yield if you can't make it. However, if you yield as you're supposed to, there is no way in hell to go from a standing start to reach 80-100 km/h in under 20 m. There is too much traffic coming at high speed, over a crest so not much warning time as you crane your neck to shoulder check. Highway drivers who know this nightmare merge is ahead usually get in the left lane, because few cars manage to get up to speed in time.
The correct thing to do at the on-ramp is actually sit back about 50M and wait for a gap, PRAY, and bloody floor it when you see a gap. I hate that on-ramp and actively avoid it.
No bout adout it that #1 Highway situation where it crosses the Capilano Canyon is a farce, given current engineering technology. An accident waiting to happen.
Here on the north shore, over the decades, we have seen various upgrades. Back in 1973 (yes I have grey hair), at a cost of a million dollars a mile, they pretty much got the thing upgraded from Taylor Way west to Horseshoe Bay. And many years subsequently, they eliminated the traffic light controlled intersections at both Westview and Lonsdale whilst also reconfiguring the busiest intersection west of Ontario - at Cassiar & Hastings - where they made a tunnel. Works great.
And of course we saw a substantial upgrade in more recent years, from Lynn Valley eastward. Traffic still tends to lurch instea of flow much of the time, but it is acually better thanks to all the new concrete and traffic lights and stuff.
Lynn Valley westward still needs to be a Yield, as does Lloyd, just because of the bad angles and viewpoints. There's just a small distance to speed up, with no highway shoulder remaining beyond that. Which is why they can't put up Warning signs to Merge, but must use Regulation signs to Yield.
And then we get to the ramp in question. The fact is, it's pathetic. (As Rocco says, the smart thing is to hang back and then floor it once you're reasonably sure there's sufficient space to allow you to fit in to the flow - which is the whole concept of high speed roadways, in how they design access ramps and exit ramps.)
And although the BC HIghways ministry has tried to argue otherwise, the poorly designed curve immediately west of the bridge has a horrible crash history, despite all the barriers and signs and flashing lights and so on they have introduced over the years. But that's kind of off topic.
The fact is, to make that westbound Hwy #1 access become a properly functional Merge situation - with shoulders and everything - will requre the complete replacement of the bridge with a much wider, stronger stucture that can acccommodate the vehicle demand. A prospect that only gets more expensive as the years go by, which is why the Provincial and Federal governments keep putting it off. (I still shake my head when I recall Gordon Campbell closing the Coquihalla Toll booth ahead of schedule, as if the ministry didn't need all the dollars they could have accrued, but I digress.)
Meanwhile, could they do anything to improve the situation as it is? Totally! The freeway lanes westbound should have a solid white line between them from the peak of the hill, disallowing lane changes. There should be accompanying signage advising drivers not to change lanes through that section.
Similarly, vehicles on the access ramp should have warning signs, recommending they hold back until the near lane traffic on the highway has a reasonable gap; deliberately narrowing the lane width on the on ramp (which actually doesn't need wide shoulders on both sides) would help ensure that intelligent drivers joining the freeway in the smoothest way possible would not have to deal with some teenager from trying to squeeze by them when they deliberately hold back a bit.
Hmmm I think I may have been wanting to get that out of my system for a while. Thanks for your patience!
3:35 I personally saw 2 car accidents from this spot before... exactly the same turn. It is pretty dangerous to be honest...😨
Victoria and 41st
If the timestamp is right, the white Toyota is travelling on the bus lane illegally. Of course the BMW is still at fault here, but I wonder if the Toyota got a ticket afterwards?
I’m at that Bcaa all the time recovering things out
Yep that is Metrotown
Always keep in mind when Driving in Vancouver or Richmond.. treat everyone as if they're all idiots. because you'll never know when they're going to ram you.
I've had as many close calls in Maple Ridge and Coquitlam as I have in Vancouver or Richmond. I think it's a greater regional problem.
@@downhillupside It's an International problem...but mostly " mental damage".
2:51 I think someone put diesel in their non diesel gas tank. That’s a great way to write off a car.
These are crazy driving issues. I’ll probably get into hot water here but the number of flagrant traffic faux pas reminds me of another channel with international car crashes from Russia and places in SE Asia. Those drivers don’t uphold the rules of road but consider ‘freelance or creative’ driving as the norm. You know the old 2 lanes can be 3 if there’s room. The newest thing in my city is advancing into the median to wait for traffic to provide an opening despite the median width not being wide enough fir a car to stop. Crazy cr*p .
2:54 The engine blew a head gasket or something similar. He's got engine coolant pouring into the combustion chamber and blowing coolant out the exhaust.
Putting diesel into a gasoline powered engine will also net very similar results.
0:44 so thats how the sign got obliterated
Lololol.. 4:11 I'm an ICBC Driver Examiner.. On a road test, I had someone just blow by a 4 way stop (lights were out all directions), instantly failed. Driving schools don't teach that stuff cause it rarely happens.. so ya.. buyer beware.
6:05 I don't drive but Lougheed/Brunette/Blue Mountain is by far THE WORST intersection in the city
Even going the other way it awful
3:06 was not a Tesla. It looked more like a Porsche or Audi EV SUV and the battery did burn for quite a long while so they ended up leaving it in the middle of the grassy boulevard over night covered by a mound of gravel.
2:51 Thats crazy they could also cause a accident from blinding the other drivers behind
always has a lot crazy and dangerous drivers so annoying
3:41 made my day
Same for me with 4:01
I love how the cops drive undercover cars very sneaky
Once I got pulled over by a cop in a Nissan with a bike and bike rack on the back!!!
I wish they did more of that and less of the speed traps. Stupidity causes accidents, not speed unless it is very excessive.
Dashcams (esp. in cop cars) make it easier to prove such vehicular misconduct in court, but they still rely on speed traps to generate revenue because a laser rangefinder measurement cannot be argued with.
@@wyldhowl2821 speed is almost always one of the causations of traffic accidents. And the attendant tailgating, passing, loosing traction, missing school zone park zone signs etc etc etc. And the thing is, I can virtually never get a solid explanation from people on why they cant follow simple instructions. We dont change how long an hour is or what a dollar is worth, but man everybody changes what 60 k is without the slightest thought or thread of logic
@@wyldhowl2821 you couldn’t be any more wrong. I suggest you work a shift or a ride along with a law enforcement traffic unit and you’ll change your mind set on this guaranteed.

Brunette and Blue Mountain is fine. The exit from East Bound HWY 1 is not great to drive
Where’s the knight street truck that hit the bridge?
lol 140 in U.S. is only 86miles/hr, and people seem to be able to manage it pretty easily.
4:28 Green light or not - Left turn / Left lane, Right turn / Right lane! That asshole turned left into the right lane! Very common thing people do.
instead of just paying to renew your license, people should be tested again.
That last one. Man. That guy should know common sense.
We visited Vancouver in October 2022 for 2 days. I was driving with my brother's car and watching your videos I'm so happy nothing happened to us. I was watching before, on other channels how bad are Vancouver drivers, but watching yours I can't believe we escaped so easily :D
7:04 merge means stop and yield means go.
6:11 Which spot or intersection is that?
Blue Mountain/Burnette at the Burquitlam/New West area
I wouldn't mess with that jay walker, mamma is most likely 3 steps behind.
i said it before and i will say it again....poor darwin, if he knew back then what know today he could have saved himself a trip around the world on the beagle.....
The tesla battery crash was in Richmond and it wasn't a tesla it was a Audi. I know I towed both cars
Notice it's all small economy cars like Corollas and various Honda's and other similar lame cars are over represented?
3:14 - This is not Tesla that involves in the crash (It is Audi Etron). Please correct your info
3:20 that was actually an Audi EV, not a Tesla battery
A good 2 channel (front/ rear) dash cam is worth every cent. It's amazing the stupid shit people do.
avennash @4:32 was not in the wrong the car turning was! honestly vancouver should make everyone renew their drivers test because this is basic knowledge
The traffic signal on 104 Ave and City Parkway should have put tge signal on flash. Someone at Surrey City Hall must be sleeping on the job.
how do you know the traffic signal didn’t go into dark due to some sort of power outage or failure? traffic signals default into flash when it senses an error, but that’s only possible if there’s a power source
@@jorlas1234
Surrey should has a UPS backup for the LED signal that will operate the signals for 8 hours or more during a blackout.
There are also a yellow retroreflexive tape around the border of the signal backboards so the vehicle headlights shine on the tape once the UPS dies.
@@kennethl4172 right, so we can only give them the benefit of the doubt that there was an issue beyond our understand.
regarding the reflectivity of the backboards of the signals, yes, it’s on all signals but of course with the sun’s glare and the quality of the dashcam, it’s not noticeable in the video.
having said all that, at the end of the day it is the driver’s responsibility to realize that it is a signalized intersection, and to follow 4 way stop procedure when the signals are dark
@@jorlas1234
I agree 100% that the motorists are responsible for stopping at a signal that is not in operation.
Isn’t a requirement under the MUTCD that a new signal should be in flash and appropriate signage?
Looks like traffic cameras are not installed at this intersection to record accidents.
Also a good thing the location is across from City Hall.😉
At 6:57, Richard had 10 seconds (after he could see the car entering the freeway) to get out of that lane and allow the Toyota to merge. That was long before the white van came along in the left lane. Score Toyota :0 Richard:0 Both bad drivers.
Too call this a "freeway" with a short merge lane like that is unacceptable.... I personally would, like you said, move over and let the other car merge, but its just bad road design by the awful government in BC.
@@marryson123 Hi Mary,
Perhaps I can help with your post. You probably know what you are seeing is the Trans Canada Highway (Route 1) in North Vancouver where it winds its way through the mountains. Being a mountainous road, the on and off ramps can be quite limited. This one, entering from Capilano Road and heading west is no exception. And, since a freeway in Canada is:
Quote:
- a high-speed, multi-lane road. On a freeway, traffic going in each direction is separated and ramps let vehicles enter and exit.
So, whether it has the regular appearance of one, it is very much a freeway, all 7000+ kms of it.
Cheers.
@@seadub1630 Thats pretty sad if that's their definition and standard of a "Freeway".... with such a inconsiderate dangerous design, Canada might as well be a 3rd world country.
@@marryson123 Wow, wasn't expecting that. I am guessing you don't live in a mountainous area and seen how you have to build roads sometimes, or your comments would have been left in your pocket.
