IMHO most of these collisions are the result of sloppy driving habits, attitudes and lack of policing. Drivers in Canada should be given a 10% discount on their yearly auto/truck insurance for having a dash cam and another 5% for mounting four snow tires for winter driving on their vehicles. Canadian auto insurers should make it a priority to obtain video of any collision to ascertain the cause, if you are deemed to be the the cause, you get the choice between going on a drivers' education course and then retesting (failure reloads you on the course two more times, the third failure cancels your driving license, you can take the drivers' ed course/driving test again in a year) for your driving license or you may choose to carry on the way you are with immediate doubling of your auto insurance premium.

Most of these "drivers" shouldn't even be on the road. Imagine if ICBC and the police actually did something about them. Less deaths, less accidents, less injuries and less headaches.

Having a voice recorder running while behind the wheel is a brilliant suggestion, dear Vancouver's Worst Driver Dashcam.
More to the point, I think, is the suggestion to read the license plate of involved vehicles aloud to create a record that may be missing from the video. Don't most or all dashcams record voice by default?

@@SMorrisRose Yes they do but often people turn them off which I think is a mistake. If they end up sending the footage to ICBC or whomever they can always mute it.
It's always the person turning left fault, they can not go unless it's clear and safe.
5:30 What's polarizing about it? You clearly state that it's against the law according to ICBC. It's that simple. Just because it's legal in some other places or country doesn't mean you can pull that shit here. I see motorcyclists do this all the time, especially in traffic and along the shoulder and it's so dangerous. Don't be on the road if you can't follow the laws. That motorcyclist deserved to get hit and he's lucky it's nothing major.

I was riding my mountain bikes this driver almost hit me because he was speeding 80 km
I live near a college and they are out when I return home from work, its a fairly busy street during the day and these college students just walk or drive out into the street with out a care in the world, there are no cross walks for them to cross and I'm actually surprised that nobody had been hurt yet.

8:10 Beach Avenue - that area is confusing, because people expect to be able to turn left to go towards the rest of Beach & Stanley Park, so that looks like a left turn lane (but isn't anymore). The concrete median for bikes also makes people think it's for cars going east.

Lane Filtering and lane splitting is illegal in BC. It is very dangerous, just watch other motorbike videos and most of the time it is either of these actions that gets motorcyclist hurt or killed. I am a motorbike rider.

Your comment about 5:30 a motorcyclist sharing the lane is a bit confusing. Even though you mentioned that ICBC 'doesn't allow it' but you threw it out as it would depend on how the audience watching this clip decides. If it's illegal here, it is illegal, period. Honestly, I found most of motorcyclists actually follow this rule. This dude is out of pattern and he gets its 'reward' right away.
The "who's at fault" question is indeed answered in that clip. There's really two questions rolled into one, the other question being: "SHOULD it be allowed?"

4:55 is infuriating simply because it is such a Vancouver thing for drivers to just have a brain fart when they make a mistake and not realize that they can still get to their destination using an alternate route, or turning around somewhere down the street, in a way that doesn't inconvenience other drivers or jeopardize the safety of others. They used to teach you if you missed your turn, just make three turns the opposite direction! Plus with all the nav software it's incredible that people don't think they can just reroute if they screw up.
Goes without saying that whoever's operating that Rav needs their licence revoked, but in general we need better enforcement, otherwise people will continue to feel entitled to make brainless maneuvers like this.

It is called "lane splitting" and it is dumb and illegal for both motorbikes and bicycles.

I think when it comes to electric scooters they're required to be on the road because most municipalities prohibit them from being on sidewalks. Thanks for watching!

Lane splitting/ filtering should be legal at slow speeds. It’s actually statistically safer for motorcyclists, and it may encourage more people to use motorcycles, which can can down on overall tragic and congestion.

Different car completely. The one who crashed in surrey at the car show (192 is still surrey, seems to be a lot of confusion for the location of that car show and crash. I'm a local who goes each Friday tho and happy to clear the air on any rumors and miss information on his crashand he is a family friend) was a deep dark purple. But close. The black one is older both very nice cars tho 😊

5:40 I personally think lane splitting should be legal in BC as it makes riding much more efficient. I know it's more dangerous though. In California I saw a bunch of motorcyclists lane splitting as it's legal there.

You significantly decrease the amount of rear ends that a motorcyclists gets into which usually causes bad injuries. However, you do increase accidents as the motorcyclist is lane splitting, but those injuries are usually very minor.

A find it odd that you have hit and runs. Firstly, BC Insurance is mandatory and secondly it's no fault. There is really no reason to run....unless all these hit and runs are illegal immigrants....then again when are illegal immigrants ever deported any way?
No fault only applies to medical expenses up to $5k....so if you're at fault in an accident you still need to make a claim and your insurance goes up significantly

All these hit and runs were fender benders. Obviously, no one was hurt. Being from a no fault State, your insurance rates do not go up. Got in an accident when a SEMI pushed me out of my lane I was in. The Truck driver admitted his mistake to the officer and the officer told him not to worry, nothing will be reported that would affect his record. My insurance went up 10 bucks this year.....so the accident didn't affect me in that way.
If you get in accident that was not your fault and your insurance company jacks up your rate without any investigation on who caused the accident, people would be stringing up the CEOs of the insurance companies AND the politicians.

Let me break it down for you, so you can digest it.
This is Vancouver. In the province of B.C. If you crash into someone, and it is your fault, your insurance WILL go up. And it's going to be way more than "$10 bucks a year".
And fender benders still cost a lot to fix, as the auto shops send big quotes to ICBC, because they can.
That's why a lot of low live idiots will try to make a run for it, when they hit someone.

2:47 - The guy turning left is absolutely at fault. It's not "controversial". The silver car was in the wrong, period.
All caps for basic rules of the road:
IT DOES NOT MATTER IF THE STRAIGHT DRIVER "SHOULD" HAVE STOPPED ON THE YELLOW.
YOU DO NOT TURN LEFT UNTIL IT IS CONFIRMED SAFE TO PROCEED.
If your safety in that situation is relying on the other driver braking in time, you just screwed up.
A yellow light like that, sure, straight traffic is supposed to stop ... or proceed through to the other side, depending on how close they are to the intersection, and which option is safest. etc.
But A) cars going straight always have right of way over cars turning across a stream of traffic, and B) in the real world, vehicles will keep going through that yellow until it is red.
So turning across their path before you know whether they are actually stopping is dumb dumb dumb.
It isn't "should" have stopped. The SUV had plenty of time to stop safely, so was legally required to do so. They were both in the wrong. Turning driver was worse, but both bear some responsibility for this crash.
The light turned red before the SUV crossed the line. Even if there was no car turning left, the SUV would have gotten a ticket if the police or camera were present.
@@chrisjohnson7929 You are wrong. The car turning left is ALWAYS responsible. They should only proceed to turn when safe to do so. Get it through your head, otherwise you'll get into the same preventable accident.
@@max_rove I wasn't talking about who the insurance would rule at fault. Both drivers could be liable for tickets for their infractions in this instance. Both were in the wrong and it is an instance where any one of them could have avoided by following the rules of the road.
