Make sure to check the "Mesh" option in the Fluid Domain settings around the 8:30 mark if you can't see any fluid. (Missed that step in the video edit.) Have fun - and can't want to see some dope animations! 🔥
i love when new tutorials come out, watching the old ones are stressful they do something that doesn’t in blender anymore and you have to find and alternative that’ll work with everything you just did
Something that is not mentioned that might have helped if it was mentioned, is making sure the mesh option is ticked in the domain settings, not sure what settings are used within that, but you want see anything without that option ticked.
Overall an excellent tutorial. There are numerous issues (20+, resulting mainly from the webcam obscuring the settings and steps missing from the tutorial due editorial cuts.) However, these issues turned out to be beneficial as I learnt more resolving these issues than blindly following a tutorial. I managed to successfully complete, resolve all the issues and set-up the final product to my own requirements. Recommended!
So nice! I like that you moved to a more compact video tutorials. Cause i think the majority of Blender users are more intermediate level, and dont have patience for beginner tut, always. And you kind sir, have so much to teach us.thx
The animation choice is awesome, CG Geek. One thing that would sell the effect more would be to have the ring spin around the sphere while it was in the process of melting, rather than revealing the hot ring and making the assumption. The bars on the side only work if you're looking for them, but the realization only hits after the fact.
Big suggestion: try to down-scale your webcam or put it where it isn't necessary to look. In many many tutorials your face covers crucial parts of the screen, hope it is just a distraction of your own. Your tutorials are so dope, it would be awesome to see less your face and more what you do. (also a keyboard reader on-screen would be appreciated, tutorials would be easier to follow) Thank you for the great contents you publish on YT
Looks great, but unfortunately that planar tex mapping makes the sphere look a bit weird when it rolls away, as you described with the texturing earlier for the cube, otherwise, brilliant!
This is going to be a fun one to play with! I've already got some ideas for it. :) And I'll get to test out my wife's new laptop. I bought her a decent Dell G15 laptop with a 3050 GPU in it, so I'm going to test it against my six year old desktop with it's Titan X. I'll be sure to post a link here in the comments to the animation I come up with. :)
Thanks for the Tuts, but would have been great if you placed yourself on screen somewhere out of the Timeline, I know CC can help but not like seeing the timeline ourself...
This is freaking EPIC man!!! 🔥 Great work as always, Steve. Can't wait to see where you go as a creator and love this type of content!! Also I really like the idea of using simulations to amp up the satisfyingness =)
for unreal engine you can use in built quixel bridge drag and drop to materials objects or drag and drop models over 10.000 surfaces and meshes it's like ambient CG
Don't know man, I've tried for like 5-6 times, redid the tutorial multiple times, just can't make the 8:30 simulation happen, even with the mesh option functioning. Awesome.
What happens? the simulation should start at the 40 frame point, just make sure you're using a version of Blender 3.0 or newer, and that you've tried baking the fluid with the 'All' setting in the Cache.
I really really love this editing, making 3D and I really need labtop or computer for 5 years and when I decided to buy, my mom needs money. And it happened everytime. I just want to be an animator and I'll graduate soon so I can find some job and buy it.😓👍 Btw I really love your channel.❤️❤️❤️❤️
I agree. I started on a video toaster in middle school when I was 13 back in the early 90's. Wish we had you tube back then. I would have progressed way quicker.
Thanks for the tutorial and the effort, but i found it really hard to follow when it came to simulation. I am an intermediate user and used both mantaflow and flip fluids a bit. However, the speed you go over things, skip steps and the general buggyness of mantaflow frustrated me massively. Even after checking the mesh checkbox, things did not work out and I stopped after trying for an hour. Maybe next time focus on getting the simulation setup right, which objects you disable and so on and so forth. the editing makes it difficult to follow. Another example of this is the applying the boolean at frame 40... which you never mention. Not trying to be negative here, but I find the speed and the lack of context does not really help me understand your idea, but makes me blindly mimic what you do. If I get it right, i learned not too much, if I miss a step, I am frustrated. Sorry for the negative feedback, appreciate your work and effort a lot!
this is why i unsub lol i watched donut tutor in 1 mnt, didnt understand n give up, ended up learning from other utuber. dude, there r few others wio teach in details, u can look em up.
I love it I really do to the quality and the way you make it but 2 things I can not pass not seeing but I asume 1 of them is hard to change is 1) the melting pat and the ball rolling the texture stays in place while melting and ball rolling 2) I wish you could work more on the friction wise where you do not have to make the liquid fade out on top of the sphere
Hey Steve! I think you're doing great, man! I don't wanna sound rude, but I kinda feel like your health is not okay! Take care of yourself! You've been a huge inspiration to me for years! Love your tutorials! 🙌🙏
Me yesterday: I will stay away from my machine and just spend the day without any gadget Me now after watching this video, loving it and getting tempted to open blender : damn you cg geek 🤓
This is a decent tutorial, but you do block a lot of the important parts and your talking speed is a bit too quick, I had to slow it down using Playback Speed setting

Thank you so much for making tutorials that people can understand! These are miles better than the ones you did a few years ago. Keep it up!!
Thanks I was confused that I cant see any fluid
thank you for making this tutorials
Sometimes it will be primary step to bake simulation to make fluid visible
can i have that abstract wallpaper on that background monitor>? please:)
i love when new tutorials come out, watching the old ones are stressful
they do something that doesn’t in blender anymore and you have to find and alternative that’ll work with everything you just did
Hahaha that's most of the fun though
this reminds me of what the corridor crew did, but done by a superior youtuber
yes

yeah , i couldnt see that cube section
For real, that screen kept covering the timeline :/ anyway its a good tutorial.
agreed
What just took you 15 mins will take me all weekend lol super cool TY !
Looks great, but unfortunately that planar tex mapping makes the sphere look a bit weird when it rolls away, as you described with the texturing earlier for the cube, otherwise, brilliant!
Noticed it too :/
Hmm maybe he could bake it and switch it out the frame before it's to roll away, then it'd move with the ball
Solution?
he should have done a triplanar or .. you know.. just a normal texture
Could you use a copy rotation constraint on the empty to the sphere?

I just saw this on reddit. I do have to say it's very satisfying.

Luv ur vids man! Also loving the new feature on UA-cam, with the clear background for the like buttons and all when playing a video.
Very cool! Great job. I think I need more practice with fire and water simulations...Thank you for the tutorial :D
The keyframe for the iron ring can be a bit finicky it seems. I had to delete the keyframe at 40 and remake it for the spin to work
He didn’t delete the default cube, what a legend
I need to learn blender!
Remember the most important step:
Use the deafault cube
